well its seems the summer is coming to
a end, these past few months have went
by so quickly, it really does seem like its
a blur, as i try to remember back to the
beginning of our glorious summer months
the only thing that comes to mind is my
nephew's graduation from college, it is a
memory i hold dear to my heart
the rest of the summer, was just, there, all
of my summer plans fell thru, as i kept putting
everything off, thinking as usual, that i had so
much more time, and atlas i don't
i have planned a trip for myself which is
to arrive very soon, i am not very comfortable
with traveling, as i always get so nervous with
the thought of leaving home, my parents have
my worries always, i will check and recheck with
them several times before my travels begin
and while away i will call each day
my business, without me scares the crap
out of me, am i really scared? or is it my
controlling personality that gets in the way?
i think its the latter
i just hope i go, i just hope i am able to leave
with clear thoughts and high hopes of enjoying
myself, i must do this for me, i have to!
there are certain fears one must fight head on
we must push forward and do what are minds
tell us we are afraid to do, i am ready for the
fight, i am ready to push so hard, i want to knock
the door down bear handed! i can find the strength
it is in me, i just have to make peace with it
so on i go, another issue, another day, and hopefully
a happy conclusion!

ReplyDeleteGood morning, Lynn, love your bell bottoms.
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteOh Carol go on your trip you need the rest and time for yourself. I truly understand the worries that come with that, but if we don't stop and recharge our inner being once in awhile then we collapse.
I hope that they get your ear taken care of soon so that your trip will be fun and relaxing and nothing to drag you down.
Shirley: I got the invisiline bifocals a couple of months ago and I really like them! The doc said it could take a month to get used to them but I had fully adjusted in a week or so. Glad I did it! Hope that helps.
Glad you all like the fair pic! It does crack me up looking at the clothes and seeing the old cars in the picture just remind me how old I am! LOL Sometimes I forget I am not that little girl in the picture anymore.
I hope everyone has a fun day. I am heading out to get ready to start mine and will be back later this afternoon!
Good Morning Ronnie sending you big (((Hugs)))!
ReplyDeleteI've been MIA for a couple of days and just caught-up on the blogs.
ReplyDeleteTina and Bebbi, beautiful, wish I had been here.
Carol~I so relate to what you are saying....it's kind of like, how is anyone going to make it while I'm gone. Ha! Make your plans, take care of everything at home and work, then just pack your bags and go have a good time.
I remember for years when I traveled a lot, I always cleaned my house almost to the point of it being sterile before I left, "just in case". How silly, but I always came home to a clean home.
Enjoy your trip and we'll leave the light on for ya.
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.
Thank you Lynn, I needed that.
ReplyDeleteBig (((hugs)) back to you.
I guess everyone is sleeping in this morning, and I'll be back later. Have a few MS messages to answer.
LynnD:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on First!

Good Morning Lynn, 1st again and Ronnie.
ReplyDeleteThe blog posted early this morning. How are you two today?

ReplyDeleteBe right back.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Owls!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first lynn d!
I typed a long comment this morning around 5:30 a.m., before going to work, and then our eletricity went off when I was ready to publish it. Grrrrrr!
It's raining hard here and the wind is blowing. The power is back but the weather is yucky! Why can't we ever have a nice gentle rain here? It always has to be downpours for days, which is why my basement always floods. We haven't had any rain forever and now we're making up for it.
The ceiling in the gym at school had two leaks this morning. We always have water at the door to contend with, but now we have leaks too.
I want to move somewhere high on a hill. I'm so tired of dealing with rain water!!!!
From A51: LOL @ Bear unzipping and going to bed.
Happy Birthday to Jodi's son! And a belated one to Sam!
Seems everyone, but me, loves their no-line bifocals. Mine only had a tiny spot on the bottom center for me to look through when I read. I would have to move and adjust my head with each word I was reading. I didn't move my eyes to read, which is the natural way. I had to move my whole head! It was sooooo annoying! Then when I'd walk down the hall at school, I'd literally get sick! I felt queasy if I looked anywhere but straight ahead. Did I maybe have trifocals and didn't know it? I'll have to ask my doctor. Anyway, I gave them a try for 2 long weeks and couldn't take it anymore. The school secretary and school nurse had the exact same problem with their no-lines. We all gave them up and went back to regular glasses.
Carol: I forgot to even mention your blog! Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI, too, let summer pass me by w/o accomplishing everything I wanted to do. I did get away a couple of times, though, and it was very good for me. The body and the soul needs time away from the daily routine. Go and enjoy! You deserve it!!!
Good Morning Donna - I think everyone is busy today. Hope you are fine. I will check back later too.
ReplyDeleteCarol - Go on your trip and have a great time.

ReplyDeleteFor those of you who are interested: Greatest American Dog is on tonight on CBS. 8 p.m.-9 p.m.

ROFLMAO@Carol!!! for real!
ReplyDeleteI was 30 by default haha
Joey:
ReplyDeleteAre you sure the powersurge was from the rain? Hmmm.....
lol!! You're cracking me up Carol!!
ReplyDeleteWell, if one happens tonight..it won't be from the rain! lol
Hot (3rd)date tonight:)haha
Joey:
ReplyDeleteThe number does not matter, its the performance that counts!
:O)
Joey:
ReplyDeleteWell than perhaps you need Fay, as she will be a sound defector!
:O)
ROFLMAO!!! true!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm trying to convince him not to move out of state:(
I knew that was a possibility when I met him though!
He's SO different(and better quality haha) than anyone I've ever been with...different in a good way!
He has a PHD, he's a vegetarian, and just plain adorable haha
Carol's on a roll!!! she's like buttah!! haha
ReplyDeleteOh and luckily, I share a wall with noone! haha
ReplyDeleteFay may not be needed;)

:O)
I am off to work!
ReplyDeleteHope all has a good day!
:O)
Good Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeletecongrats on #1 Lynn
Ronnie- I do the same thing, my house is cleaned within an inch of its life when I leave on vacation. Nothing better then coming home to do NOTHING but the laundry you brought with you.
Carol, go and have a great time. You handle all the things so well when you are here that they will run smoothly for you while you take a little break.
Joey- you little chatty cathy, haven't talked to you in forevah! HI!!
Good morning to all and to all a good day. ;)
MEK- SWAK and have a fab time!!
Hope everyone going to 'Q have a great time and hoist one for those of us who are not there.
Geez, apparently I know how to clear a room!
ReplyDeleteMorning all!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first Lynndeeeee!
Carol...I was just thinking about summer being almost over and lamenting that I have not had time for even a little ole trip to the beach. I'm glad you are taking the time for a vacation and I totally identify with your worries...I always end up calling my Mom at least once when I'm away, even tho she knows where to reach me should she need to
***from area 51***
ReplyDeleteCarol...You were not impressed with the Meadowlands thing? I have wanted to go ever since I heard it was a giant flea market. What didn't you like? Maybe I should take it off my list as it is a bit of a haul from here???
Shirley...I have tri-focals and the first pair I had took no time to get used to. The pair I just got are smaller frames and I had bit of that side vision dizziness, but they adjusted the fit and it only lasted a couple of days.
LOL@ Carol and Joey!
ReplyDeleteOMG, a Ph.D. vegetarian? Be afraid! Be very afraid!
Congrats, Lynn D! Sorry, Ronniegirl!
Carol: Every season seems to me know like it's gone almost before it even happened. Stop the world, I want to get off indeed!
But definitely, get thee on your trip! It's like taking baby steps... next thing you know, you'll be on the plane to next year's BABB! LOL!
Waving to Goldie, Tinkatia, Hart (don't you hate getting FOADed?!!) and Scirish!
Good Morning Joey, Carol, Goldie and Scirish.
ReplyDeleteI have been over at myspace. It won't let me change my status bar. It says there is an error. Anyone reading my status will think I am going to sleep all day.
Joey and Carol - You had a great conversation, just the two of you, for a long time this morning. You must be Bosom Buddies.
Ronnie and Goldie - I am really neurotic about someone finding my house untidy. I make sure it looks fine before I go to bed or the grocery store. That neurosis started back in 1996. I wasn't feeling well when I went to school that day and I knew we were coming back to my house to have a swimming party. It was towards the end of June and we were having our final parties for the year. Anyway because I didn't feel well I tidied up by throwing everything that was out of place into my bedroom and closing the door. No-one would be going in that room. Well, as it turned out I collapsed at my party and within a half hour I had 6 members of my family and about 12 parents all in my untidy bedroom, all trying to help me. Then I had the ambulance guys as well. Even though I was so unwell, I was mortified that my bedroom was so messy. I swore that would never happen again. I am not always successful but I do try hard to keep my house ready for unexpected company. That was the last time I saw those parents as I never made it back to school again. I never did get a chance to explain to them why I had strange items in my bedroom. Ah life is such a mystery!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Whabbear - I didn't see you there. I wish I were brave enough to jump on a plane and come to your BBQ. I haven't flown since 911. One of these days I will take baby steps too. I really enjoyed flying up until then.
ReplyDeleteOh by the way, VIG and I were wondering if your BBQ is always on Labour Day weekend or do you vary the date? I definitely will not travel, especially in the States, on Labour Day weekend. I wouldn't want to miss our Fair and I don't like the highway statistics on that long weekend.
Bear might not be back so maybe someone else could answer my BBQ date question.
Good (and late) Morning All~~Especially to Lynn, our Queen of the Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteCarol~~Your blog reminds me again that this isn't a dress rehearsal. Sing, Dance, Laugh, GO!
Ronnie~~Always a better day when you're not MIA.
Donna & Joey~~Sorry about your power-loss issues. I know it doesn't help you, but your posts help keep me from screaming at my power company today. Why? They're baaaaacckk, for day 3 of the non-stop rumble and screech of trimming/chipping/mulching tree branches all around the neighborhood to keep them from interfering with power lines when the winter storms begin. It's an extremely annoying barrage of sound.
**to be continued**
Good morning my feathered friends. It's been a long time since I posted but I still get a chance to read the blog now and then. I foolishly thought I would have time while I was off work for 4 weeks ... turns out I had to come BACK to work to find time to swoop in and say hello!
ReplyDeletelynn d - congrats on being first!
mek & jodi - sooooo jealous you got to see Garth back in the day. I used to get to see Clint Black and Mark Chesnutt alot when I lived in Austin but when my BFF had tickets to see Garth at Austin City Limits, I was late getting back from the gym! :o( And a lotta good that aerobics class does me NOW.
Joey - sounds a lot like me & yummy hubby ... he was sooo different, in a good way, from anyone else I knew. I had to move 200 miles to be with him, we left the state together, and here we are, 10 fun-filled years later! Ya never know....
A quick hello to Ronnnie, Carol, Goldie, Scirish, Whabby, and whoever flies in here behind me. Have a great day!
PS...getting excited about the bbq!
Oops, I forgot Tinkatia and Hart and now Bon'o. Good morning friends! I would never skip over anyone intentionally....sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteYes, Carol..you've still got it;)
ReplyDeleteGood to see you Goldie!! :)
LOL@Tinka
Outtatune: My former honey just called on his lunch break and that's what he does for a living!! lol
he did say he was in an neighborhood...Did you see him?haha
He's in NC working actually!
Neat story about you and your hubby!!(love the way you called him "yummy" hehe) Yep, ya never know where love will find you!!
Thanks for giving me hope:)
'an' neighborhood?! lol
ReplyDeleteI meant "a" :)
Donna~~About your bifocals...have you tried Progressives? I sent Shirley a link yesterday about mine, which I love. Sounds like they could be your answer. They're really not bifocals, but a single lens that addresses all distance ranges smoothly, not just close/distant.
ReplyDeleteJoey~~9 hours of rain=my idea of Heaven right now, but it'll happen soon enough. No complaints, though...today I'm just crossing fingers for my family, hunkered down under a tornado watch.
Goldie~~You clear a room? NEVER! I have to take an extra Vitamin S (for smiles) when you're not here.
Scirish~~Missed you too. Is Mom settling in more happily yet?
Bear to Joey~~ :o) My thoughts exactly!
Outatuune~~....keep an eye on that yummy hubby at the Babb....just sayin'
Mornin' Tink! I see I have mail from you. That's my next stop. Then time to get 'er done!
Good Morning Outatuune -I knew you didn't miss me on purpose. It's so easy to do. Sometimes I scroll three times and still skip an owl here and there. Nice to see you posting. Think of us at your BBQ. Wish we could all be there.
ReplyDelete59
ReplyDelete60
ReplyDeleteBonnie - I was just starting to write to you when the phone rang and it was my daughter. I just wanted to say "Good Morning" and tell you the sun has now come out here so I hope the rain went your way. I know you were waiting for it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first, Lynn! Love your little bell bottoms! And, you ARE still that girl!
ReplyDeleteCarol, go on your trip with no worries!! I'm a worrier, too, but have gotten so much better at letting things go. What helps me is to think of the worst things that could happen--they are usually so ridiculous that I end of smiling about it. Also, if I'm really worried about something, I schedule "worry time." I decide to worry from 5-5:30pm. I tell myself I'll just worry my head off during that time. Of course, it's hard to do and ends up making me smile, too, most of the time. After all, things happen or not whether you worry or not! Anyway, go on your trip! No worries!
Nice to see you back, Ronnie!
Tinka, I'm sorry, I know your story about your room being messy wasn't meant to be funny but I did smile thinking about poor Tinka being surrounded by all kinds of things in your room!
Joey, have a fun 3rd date!! He sounds like a dream!
Good morning/afternoon to Lynn D (congrats on 1st!), Ronnie, Carol, Tinka, Hartldo, Joey, Goldie, Scirish, Whabbear, Bonnie and Outatuune.
ReplyDeleteCarol great blog! Go on your vacation and enjoy it! Just don't forget to take lots of pictures, especially if you run into any good looking guys!Lol!! We will be expecting a full report when you get back.
Joey and Carol I loved you tedious chit chat this morning. It's too bad Goldie scared you away! Lol! We may have to send her to the naughty mat or make her bake us a triple batch of brownies!
Hi Sandie!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your imput on the bi-focal question I posted yesterday. I think I'm going with the invisable line. Too bad y'all couldn't help me pick out frames! I tried a few on yesterday & I think I'm going to look real bad in glasses. Good thing I don't go out much! Lol!
Hello Hooters!
ReplyDeleteLynnD Congrats on first today!
Carol I'm so glad you are taking a little time off. If you were your own best friend, you'd be telling yourself to go and have a great time! Be as kind to yourself as you are to others. :)
We've been having some lovely weather lately but it seems we had more than the normal foggy days here on the coast. It's almost fall and I feel like we never had a summer. :( In only two days I will be in Boise and it will be hotter there, in more ways than one!!! :)
Tinka Your story reminded me of when I had to have emergency surgery. There was a very real chance that I would die, but I was apologizing to the medical staff about the fact that I needed a pedicure! At least I had clean underwear on! LOL
Peaking in but late to get back from lunch. LynnD, Congrats on first!
ReplyDeleteRonniegirl: Thanks and congrats on second! hehe. :)
Ah the nest is filling back up.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sandie, Shirley, Just-Lin and Bebbi - Good to see you.
Sandie - When I stop feeling embarrassed about my untidy bedroom that day, the story is kind of funny. The room was so crowded with people. Not only did the ambulance come but the fire truck did too. I don't know why but I had 3 of the most gorgeous firemen in my bedroom and I was too sick to enjoy it. It must be a prerequisite; to be a fireman here you must be a hunk.
Oh, even my neighbour was in my room crying "Oh Audrey, what happened?" Yes I guess it was funny but it would be funnier if it was someone else's messy bedroom.
Just -Lin - Yes my mother taught me that one at an early age; always wear clean underwear because you never know if you are going to end up that day in a hospital. I wonder if that is a common thing mothers teach children or was it just my mom?
I must tidy my kitchen before my nap because - well one never knows!!!!!!
68
ReplyDelete69 for Just-Lin
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday Everyone!
ReplyDeleteLynn D- you're up awfully early today! Congrats on being #1.
I want to say Hi to everyone, it has been a few days since I last posted.
Miss Laurie is back in her regular Becoming Independent Day Program, with a few minor limitations. She cannot use her left arm for lifting, pulling, pushing etc. That at first was quite a hard concept for her to comphrehend, but she's got it down now! I am getting her a rolling backpack too, because she cannot wear the one she has, it is way too heavy. This restriction is for about 6 weeks, so the muscles in her heart are properly attached to the wires from the Pacemaker.
By the time she can move her arm more, she will have been to UCSF and had her catherization and stent, then I am hoping she will exhibit lots more energy. She already is, just with the Pacemaker.
DIANNE~ I am so glad to hear that Tammy is doing better, even with the residual pain. So glad the results were good ones!
SHIRLEY~ I must agree with everyone regarding the no-line bifocals. Before I had my Lasik eye surgery, I too had to have the bifocals. It took a few days to get used to them, but after that, they worked wonders! Now, though, even though I had the Lasik surgery, I need reading glasses!!! I buy them like some people buy shoes! I look for really cute ones wherever I am. I find the cutest ones at the strangest places, like the car wash, hospital gift shops etc. They aren't very expensive, so I think I probably have about 25pair! One to match every outfit!
CAROL~ I so agree with everyone, GO HAVE FUN! You so deserve it, Live, Laugh, Love, three small words, but oh so necessary for us all! And like the song says "I Hope You Dance"! Yes, the light will be left on for your return, and we will miss you terribly, but we all want you to enjoy yourself and relax and come back to us all tanned and refreshed! Don't know your destination, but I hope it involves lots of sun, water, tropical drinks brought to you by cute Cabana Boys, maybe JOEY would like to volunteer for that job! LOL
Oh Boy, I too am getting so excited about this weekend and the BABBQ! I can hardly wait to meet all of you that are coming. Wouldn't it be great if EVERYONE of the Owls could get together??? I guess we'll just have to settle for the California Connection, with the Arizona and Michigan contingency also coming!
Have a great day,
Peace and Love to All, Donna Jean
Shirley- I will bake the brownies if I can stay off the naughty mat.
ReplyDeleteCan't offer much advice on the bifocals- I wear contacts for distance and readers for short.
I tried bifocal lenses once and hated them. But I can offer advice on the frames. Make sure the person helping you knows what they are doing, and they are sized right for your face and your head. Everyone is different, you may need a 7 or a 9, but a frame that is too small or too big for you won't look good no matter how stylish it is.
DJ- glad to hear Laurie is doing well. I sure wish they had those rolling backpacks when I was in school. Seems like the kids all have them now- better for their backs.
BonBon- SWAK!!! TY
Tink- you reminded me of my hunky firemen from a few weeks ago. Especially the one who dropped his drawers right in front of my window! Purrrrrrrrrr

ReplyDelete73, marching
ReplyDelete74
ReplyDelete75! yeah!
ReplyDelete75! yeah!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Owl Friends!
ReplyDeleteThe rain has stopped for now. More expected tonight. It always makes me nervous. Fingers crossed for no flooding!
Hope you have a good date tonight Joey!
Hi outatuune! Do we know each other over on MySpace?
bon'o: No, I haven't tried Progressives. My friend from high school is my eye doctor and I'm so surprised that she didn't help me out more when I was having trouble with those bifocals. She was nice enough to just take them back and exchange them for no cost but she didn't give me any alternatives.
Sandie: That's so funny that you pick a half hr to worry! I love it!!!!
Donna Jean: So good to hear an update on Miss Laurie E!
I buy reading glasses like some people buy shoes too! LOL! I have my perscription ones that I use at work but I have dollar store ones, in every color and style, all over my house.
Well, it's back to work for me! See y'all later tonight!
Tinka Thanks for passing the 69 off to me! I think it used to be common for mothers to tell their children to make sure they had on clean underwear in case they ended up going to the hospital. I don't know if it is common any more. Probably not. Probably lucky if they're even wearing underwear. LOL
ReplyDeleteOkay, lots of little things to do before my trip. BBL
DoonaJean
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you will still make it to the BABQ. I wish that I lived closer as I would love to share a glass of Kendall Jackson with you. I would very much enjoy metting Outatuune and talk animal rescue stories. Wabbear I'm sure would be a riot with or without a few beers or jello shots. LOL. Mary/Mi I envy you being able to travel so much. How fun! Um and Mary could you put out a hex on this Gustov. The one you put on Dolly worked! :0)
Joey
Congrats on a third date with the new guy! Woot Woot!
I wonder where EBJ is? I haven't seen her post lately.
Okay, have a great day everyone!
DonnaJean, so glad to hear Laurie is getting back to her routine and doing better!
ReplyDeleteYes, Donna, schedule your worry time and it gets to be so ridiculous that you realize worrying doesn't help a thing!
Tinka and J/L, my mother always told me to wear clean underwear in case I'm in an accident, too. I don't think I've ever said that to my kids, though. I do tell them, "Nothing goes right when your underwear's tight." LOL!!
Joey: LOL! I called outatune's hubby "yummy" after last year's BABB, and it always makes me smile when she uses that phrase now!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing both the 'tunester and "YH" on Saturday!
Private and confidential to Caryn: If you've said as much as one word about all this "yummy hubby" stuff to Paul, I'm going to have to kill you! LOL!
Tink: No, the date is totally fluid. Last year it was in September after Labor Day. Who knows about next year!
Yes, I have to give all the credit to Whabby for the YH moniker. And Whabby, he already knows. I guess I'll have to make sure I'm wearing my clean underwear in case something bad happens to me at the bbq, LOL! My mom used to tell me that too but I don't remember using it on my kids.
ReplyDeleteJust-Lin, I'm excited for you and you're upcoming trip and agree with that it seems we haven't had enough summer days out our way this year. I also agree with your advice to Carol. So Carol, I hope you heard everyone loud and clear. You deserve this trip and there's no need to worry.
I used to worry too much about everything before I became chronically fatigued and didn't have enough energy or brain function to worry about anything. Now that I'm partially recovered, I have to prioritize and save my resources for the things that are most important to me.
I still cringe at the thought of anyone seeing my home in anything but immaculate order but most days it's not and yet I manage to survive somehow.
Sandie, the next time I'm having a sleepless night (few and far between these days), I hope I remember to make an appointment for the thoughts that are keeping me up. That seems like a fantastic idea to me!
Good Afternoon - Just flying through.
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean - So happy to hear Laurie is doing better. I do think the prayers worked.
Goldie - Tell us more about the fireman who dropped his drawers. If you have already told it on the blog, please message me. That sounds interesting.
Whabbear - Thank you for telling me about the BBQ. For some reason I thought it was going to be a tradition to have it on Labour Day. I would never have been able to make it. How about July next year? I think Zona, VIG and I could maybe make it then. (or August), just not a big American holiday please.
84
ReplyDelete85 Just-Lin - You are welcome. How many days now?
ReplyDeleteTinka Less than 48 hours now! :D
ReplyDeleteoutatuune Thanks for the well wishes. I'm sorry I won't be able to meet you and so many other fine owls at the BABQ.
Okay, I've got to continue to tie up all these loose ends before I leave. BBL
Just-Lin - You are tying up loose ends and I am tying up my wind chimes, in case the wind comes up. I won't take them down until I take the flower planters away and dismantle the deck. That is a sad day for me because I live out there most of the summer. The furniture will be put away until May and it will be bare until I decorate it for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAnd the years roll on by ever so much faster than they used to.

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments on my blog yesterday.

ReplyDeleteand 100!!!!!
ReplyDeleteokay, that's just the right amount of fun before going home and becoming a couch potato for the evening. hagn all!
ReplyDeleteRonniegirl, I do that too when I travel! And I love coming home to a clean house and all my laundry done!
ReplyDeleteJoey: I didn't know a double eviction was coming!! WOW!! Cool!!!
I didn't know there was a meeting of the Owls! How did I miss that? I would have loved to have come. I will next time if I am invited. :)
Tink: You dismantle your deck? I have never heard of that before. Sounds like a job!
Bebbi - Sorry I misled you by saying I dismantle the deck. I see where it sounds like I take all the boards apart. It's an expression I use when I take all the decorations and wind chimes down, remove the furniture and the flower planters. It looks like a completely different place. It is my favourite place to be in the summer time, especially at a very early breakfast. It's the closest I come to feeling like I am in paradise.
ReplyDeleteoutatuune - Congratulations on marching to 100. Is that your first time?
ReplyDeleteLynnD~ congrats on first~ Love that pic, btw~
ReplyDeleteRonnie~ i missed you~ Congrats on #2~ :D
Carol~ GO!!! And have a great time~ Don't worry about everything....it'll all be there when you get home anyway~ :D Have a great time and take pics.....of YOU!!!
Joey~ you really had me laughing with your banter with Carol~
Tinka~ I'm all for moving the date too.....Holiday weekends are the hardest for me to travel~ :)
Carol, I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday Evening Everyone!
ReplyDeleteHope some are still up and awake!
I have to admit that I am not a political person, I try to be very non-judgemental of everyone, and I guess you would put me into the Independent category. But, after what I have heard these past few days at the DNC has really hit my heart.
Especially tonight when I heard Bill Clinton's speech. I guess you could say he had me at "Thank You, please sit down, we have a show to put on"! An amazing speech is all I can say.
If only Bill could run again!
What an orator he is.
And just for those who missed the Melissa Etheridge concert, go to YouTube, and make sure you hit the 7 minute version, you will certainly be blown away!
(so sorry I don't know how to send links!)
From her special version of "God Bless America", Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are a Changin", John Lennon's,"Give Peace a Chance" to the incredible Boss's "Born In The USA", my heart was racing!
Didn't mean to get political, because I really am not that type, just needed to say that.
GOLDIE~ I agree, kids today have way too much stuff to be lugging around on their backs! It's criminal! I remember when all I had to bring home was a blue denim 3 ring binder and a couple of books! Thank Goodness they invented the rolling backpack!
DONNA JO~ we seem to have so many things in common, are you SURE you are not a Gemini??? My long lost twin?
BEBBI~ HI back!
JUST-LIN~ We will miss you lots at the BBQ, but we will certainly be talking about you at the BBQ!!! So, if your ears are ringing, oh well! Have a lovely time, and much love to you!
OUTATUNE~ Can't wait to meet you, and see just how "yummy" your hubby is!!! Also I heard he makes the most fabulous beans! A yummy hubby that can cook, what else does a girl (or guy) need???
DREAMA~ Praying Gustav does not hit where you live. And I also hope it doesn't do any more damage to New Orleans, heaven knows they don't need any more havoc. I will drink a glass of wine in your honor!
SANDIE and TINKA~ Thank you for the kind words regarding Laurie's progress. Yes, I am so happy she feels better. She still is not eating as much as I would like, but maybe that's a good thing. And TINKA, I think you are right, all the prayers, positive thoughts and words of support definitely helped!
OK, off now to finish watching the DNC, and Joe Biden's speech, hope I didn't miss it while typing away!
Peace and Love to All,
Donna Jean
Yep Bebbi, tomorrow night..double eviction! I'm excited!!
ReplyDeleteLOL@DonnaJean about the cabana boy!
Goldie, by "'Q" you meant the bbq?? I'm slow sometimes! lmao
I couldn't for the life of me figure out what u meant, then it came to me as I just typed this haha
saw it wayyyyy earlier today and meant to ask! I wished I could go!
oh and haha Tina! thanks! I love being tedious!
ReplyDeleteI forgot who called me chatty cathy but that cracked me up!
110 for even-ness;)
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a slow night in the nest. Maybe it will pick up after I go to bed and I will read all kinds of exciting things tomorrow in the
ReplyDeleteNight Owl News.
Donna Jean - I loved your post because it showed passion.
I agree that prayers work. I have seen proof of it.
Tina - Maybe next year the BBQ will be on a slower weekend. We can hope anyway.
Iteach - I hope you are feeling better. I second your statement about loving Carol's blogs. They are always great.
Good Night Everyone. See you in the morning.
Tinka I think all the American owls are glued to their TV's watching history in the making.
ReplyDeleteJust finished watching the DNC--awesome, awesome, awesome!!
ReplyDeleteShirley, are you still here? I can't wait to see your new glasses! How long does it take to get them?
ReplyDeleteI also can't wait to see pics of the annual bbq! Who's bringing the camera?? Someone please tell Seasidelady hello for me--I just love her!!
ReplyDeleteHowdy to All...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the good wishes, pushes, and do it's today, as I so needed them...
I feel so much better today, as when I blog about something that is weighing on my mind, I always feel better afterwards...
Thanks again.
♥♥♥
Sandie I have to wait until next Tuesday and then my sister is going to help me pick out frames. Then it will be about a week after that. But I don't have a camera so unless my sister takes a picture I won't be able to show you.
ReplyDeleteDid Shirley get her glasses?
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean:
You wrote so passionately of how you felt watching the convention, I am glad you enjoyed it, and felt as you did... Kudos...
♥♥♥'s to Miss Laurie Elizabeth...
Shirley:
ReplyDeleteYou just answered my question! You are going to love them, you will see so much better... Did you choice the bi's?
Tina:

:O)
iteach:
ReplyDeleteThank You ♥♥♥
Ronnie:
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love Lynnd's bell bottoms as well. I actually still wear bell bottom jeans, they are now called "wide leg" jeans. Why they changed the name I will never know, as they are the same!!!
I am so happy that they are back in style, Lane Bryant is loaded with them, last week I bought three different style jeans all wide leg...
Wide leg @ Lane Bryant, Kinda makes sense :O)
Shirley, don't forget to ask your sister to take her camera!! We want to see you see us! LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Carol!
To all the BBQ's attending this weekend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, eat, drink and be merry, and of course take lots of pics!
:O)
Carol I think I'm going to go for the invisible bi-focals. Most everyone agreed they were better than the ones with lines. Thanks for your imput.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandie:
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about you today, my barnes and noble order came today, I ordered three books...

Carol, I just figured, who am I to argue with owls. Especially when the are wise old...I mean wise owls! Oops! I think I better go to bed. Night Sandie and Carol and anyone else still up.
ReplyDeleteoutatuune:

Good night, sleep well...
♥♥♥
Goodnight Shirley!
ReplyDeleteCarol, you'll have a good laugh reading Lamb. I haven't read the other two--you'll have to tell me how they are.
I am off to bed as well...
ReplyDeleteEveryone have a great tomorrow!
:O)
Sandie:
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to read Lamb after the Beach House... Everyone said how funny it was and Tina loved it as well....
Can't wait to read it....
You know, our book club read Lamb last October and we still talk about it at almost every meeting! We all just loved it.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight, Carol.
It was very hard for me to comment tonight regarding the DNC and the speeches given, as I am not an active political person, although my family are all hardcore Democrats, and that is usually the way I think also. I just don't tell my personal beliefs to many.
ReplyDeleteSo, I thank TINKA and CAROL for their sweet words.
I did go back to the TV after posting and I did not miss Joe Biden's speech, or Barack's "unexpected" appearance. It too was quite exciting!
I wonder how I will feel next week when it is the RNC. Should I watch? Will I watch? I am not sure.
Sometimes, it's all in the words, and how it is delivered. But the TRUTH is the TRUTH, and this time, I believe it must be an Obama/Biden Victory in November!
As the camera rolled over the faces of the delegates, I saw Black, White, Asian, Latinos, & Native American's with such hope, and positive looks in their eyes. I sure hope America does not let them down.
OK, way enough Politics from me for one night!
SHIRLEY~ I am so proud of you to go for it!! You really will be happy once you get your glasses, get used to the difference, and then you can read lots of books and magazines with no trouble!
But,(yes, there is always a but) if you are experiencing any difficulty adjusting to your new glasses, go back to the optometrist right away, and let them know. Sometimes they make a mistake in the prescription, and you need to let them know that the glasses are not right for you.
This happened once with Laurie when I took her to an eye Dr. in a Mall. They put the lenses in the wrong order. The right lens was put into the left side of the frame, and the left lens in the right side of the frame. She had never complained that she couldn't see before, and I thought she was just being stubborn. We went through several weeks of her not wanting to wear her glasses.
I finally took her to a different Opthamologist, and when they looked at her glasses under the "magic" instrument that reads the prescription, they corrected the problem immediately!
Mistakes happen, so you need to be an aggressive advocate for your own health!
CAROL~ The Beach House by James Patterson, is a very good Summer Read! I read it a few years back and enjoyed it!
HAPPY VACATION!!!!!!!
Sweet Dreams to All,
Donna Jean
Good Morning Owl Friends!
ReplyDelete5:10am here. I've been up for well over an hour. Couldn't sleep because I have so much to do before my son and DIL come tomorrow night. Just had too much on my mind.
We made it through the night with no flooding! Yay! Can't stop thinking of those people in New Orleans. I can just imagine the PTSD they must have! Let's all send our positive thoughts and prayers out to those who are in Gustav's path.
Ah, Donna Jean, the classic blue denim 3-ring binder. And then we wrote all over them with hearts and flowers and our name with some boy's last name. That brought back sweet memories of my youth. Thanks! And hey, it's okay with me if we just pretend to be long lost twins! :) You're right, we DO have a lot in common! I also feel that we MUST have an Obama/Biden victory in November!
hartldo, sorry you couldn't sleep..I couldn't either..I woke up around 5:30 after going to sleep at almost 1:30! I am still sleepy haha
ReplyDeleteHappy thong Thursday everyone!
