This Night Owl Blog has given so much! It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"! We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly. And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :) It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

Dance Moves?
by Zona
This You tube video has had over 98 million hits...98 MILLION!! That was just mind boggling to me...until I watched it. It brings back so many memories....and it just makes me laugh. Do you remember doing any of these dances?? I do. Did you do them well? I didn't....but I sure had fun trying. Sit back and enjoy this video...I guarantee it'll make you smile...it may even get you wigglin' in your chair! Oh, and if you're braver than me....get up and try a few of these dance moves....let us know how you do!!
Good morning!! 1st?
ReplyDeleteWahoo! It's been a long time since I got first. Life's little pleasures.
ReplyDeleteZona- great blog- made me really laugh this morning. All I can say is that my dancing ability rivals my singing ability. I have no rhythm at all!!
Wow, everyone must have been up late checking out the hurricane news, except Maureen, who is off to work.
ReplyDeleteZona, I was dancing in my chair. Thank you for this early morning blog! It was fun.
Hope all owls in storm area made it through the night safely.
Have a great day owls!
Good morning, goldie! Congrats on first!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust want to say that I am hoping that Ronnie and Dreama and Delores and everyone else is safe out there today. The Ike news is not good.
ReplyDeleteAnd my thoughts to all those poor people involved in the train crash. What a bad day.
Hi g/m!!! Good morning to you too.
ReplyDeleteI do admit to doing a mean 'chicken dance' and Macarena- which I fully intend to put on display at my sons wedding in 3 weeks- :O)
ReplyDeleteNothing better then embarrasing your own children!!
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteGoldie Got First! Wahoo!
Hi Grandma Moses!
Zona I have seen this video and he has been on Ellen! It makes me laugh every time!
I remember doing the hustle and the bump. Remember the bump that was alot of fun, if you did not like who you were dancing with you could bump them to the other side of the room! LOL
I woke up and turned on the news about Ike. Ronnie, Dreama, and Dee Dee. I am very worried about you! I am praying you are all safe. With no power in most of the areas I am guessing we won't hear from you guys for a while. So hang in there.
Morning All!
ReplyDeleteZona...Great video!! I do remember doing some of those dances...not well either I'm afraid.
I watched the Ike videos on weather.com and am hoping that Ronnie, Dreama and Dee Dee are ok. Thankfully, Ike stayed a category 2 storm and it doesn't look like there was a lot of damage but almost 3 million people are without power..whew that is massive!

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Owls. Is everybody dry?
ReplyDeleteZona - Another great blog. You must hold the record. I am proud of you. Mama Tink
ReplyDeleteI have watched it twice and I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Zona!
My hubby loved it too.
Good Morning Goldie - Congrats on being first. It's been a long time since I saw you in that spot. It is even longer for me. I am not sure I will ever be there again. Tia sleeps longer now so my days of getting up at 5:30 I hope are behind me. I would rather sleep two more hours than be first anyday.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Grandma Moses, Lynn, Scirish and Iteach. Hope you are fine today.
ReplyDeleteZona - What a fantastic way to start a Saturday morning. I will play it more than once throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteGrandma Moses - I would love to see you dancing in your chair. Was anyone taking a video? How about sending it to us.
ReplyDeleteScirish - Like you, I am praying that all our owls (and anyone else living in Texas) are safe and dry. It looks pretty bad there. I have CNN on right now. They are asking people to share their bottled water with the elderly and very young. I hope our Texan owls get word to us soon.
ReplyDelete19
ReplyDelete20
ReplyDeleteIteach - I just watched the video again too. There will soon be a 100 million hits and we will be part of that number.
ReplyDelete22

ReplyDelete25
ReplyDeleteMy days of getting #1 seem to be over but I am very good at getting #25.
ReplyDeleteZona - I had the jive and the Twist down pretty well. At our girls' school we spent every lunch hour jiving. The nuns didn't really like it but they allowed the dancing. We were all very good at it. We would watch "American Bandstand" and get hints from that. At our school dances each weekend we enjoyed the slow dancing much more than jiving. The boys weren't that good at jiving anyway and slow dancing was more fun. The highlight on the night would be the "Last Dance". If you didn't have someone special to dance that one with, your night was ruined. They usually played "Beyond the Sea" or "Red Sails In the Sunset". That was the 50's and they were as much fun as movies portray them to be.
ReplyDeleteIn 1962, Chubby Checker came out with the Twist. Most of us found it hard at first. Then they said on "American Bandstand," "just pretend you are drying your back side with a towel while putting out a cigarette with the ball of your foot" Soon we were experts at it. It was a great way to stay slim.
ReplyDelete29
ReplyDelete30
ReplyDeleteI loved having my grade one's do "The Chicken Dance" at our concerts. It would always be a great hit with the parents.
ReplyDeleteBy the time Michael Jackson came out with "Thriller" I enjoyed watching my teenagers dance to it.
The Macarena made a come back in 1992 and it was very popular on the cruises I was on. Ron and I were pretty good at that one.
Now I am watching my little grand daughter imitate the dances on "Highschool Musical".
I wonder what will be popular when my baby granddaughter is a teenager? She is only 1 right now.
Everyone must be watching the Hurricane because they are not in the nest. I have been talking to myself for an hour. I guess I will have breakfast and continue watching CNN. Prayers for all of those in the Big Storm.

ReplyDelete35
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I am speaking to you from the path of Hurricane Ike. What a mess! We are having high winds and lots of rain....
ReplyDeleteI should have left but I am trying to train a new puppy and she does not have luggage yet.
I took Miss Belle out to potty this morningand I usually have to "pick up" after but her...but not today....Ike took care of it. That little turd rolled across the deck and took off like an airplane!
I am going to get prettied up while we still have electricity so I can get out and about and see first hand what is going on around town. Hurricanes are a great conversation starter should one happen to run across a good looking evacuee!!
Thanks for everyones concern...oh! and don't worry about Dreama! This one kinda skipped her...but hurricane season won't be over until November....so Corpus Christi is still in the running!
Goldie I assume there will be no whore box at the wedding for you to dance on top of. LOL Okay, back to reading the posts.
ReplyDeleteTinka, you are out of luck ~ no one took video ~ LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
Hi lynnd, scirish, iteach, deloris and just lin!!
I am on my way out the door to meet my kids and grandkids for lunch FUN!!!!
Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteGood morning #1 Goldie and Hooters Everywhere!
ReplyDeleteCute video Zona! I know I upped that '98 million hits' count a few times when it first came out.
Update from Ronnie anyone? Good to see in Area 51 that Dreama's ok, and thank you, Delores, for checking in, wit intact. You remind me of the real reason I come to the blog. Thank you!
Delores - Thanks for checking in. Everyone has been worried about you. Watch out for flying glass. That's what they are saying on CNN.
ReplyDeleteI am glad it missed Corpus Christi. I so saddens me to see people who lost their homes. I can't even imagine the feeling of losing one's
"stuff".
Ronnie - Check in if you have power.
Just_Lin - Good Morning. How are you feeling this morning?
Grandma Moses - And here I have been waiting to see you on U-Tube - our loss.
Good Morning Bon'o. We are still having lovely summer weather. Are you?
ReplyDelete44
ReplyDelete45
ReplyDeleteHappy saturday!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning everyone!!
Goldie - Congrats on FIRST!!! and I want video of you doing the chicken dance!!!
waving howdy to Goldie, GM, Lynn D, Scirish, Tinka, Iteach, and Delores and everyone else that lands..
Zona - I LOVE that guy's video - he's been on just about every morning show doing his thing... he IS a great dancer to be able to do ALL of those moves!!!
Thank you for sharing that with us today!! (Mr. MEK enjoyed that)..
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Hey Just Lin and Bono - you posted while I was typing!!
ReplyDelete48
ReplyDelete49
ReplyDelete50
ReplyDeleteGoldie Congrats on first. I think you should do a dance to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteZona That was a lot of fun! Thank you. I was actually a good dancer and did some of those. I remember in Jr. High, coming home from a dance and demonstrating to my parents how well I could do The Pony. LOL I remember in 4th grade, rushing home from school and tuning into American Bandstand. That's how I first learned how to do popular dances, by watching that show. In the mid 70's, I went to an after hours club in San Francsico. A tall black man asked me to dance and we were doing the Bump. Suddenly he dropped to the floor, doing push-ups and "bumping" my leg with his shoulder! It kind of shocked me but I just kept on dancin'.
Delores I'm glad you and your dogs made it through the storm okay. It never occurred to me that there would be flying turds! I guess it would be prudent to keep one's mouth shut while out in those winds.
Tinka Thank you for thinking of me. I forgot to say congratulations on your march to 25. Yes, you are getting very good at that one. I cut the emotional "umbilical cord" with Custard last night. He emailed me at least a couple dozen times yesterday, very chatty, kind of like when we first started writing to each other. I finally asked "Why?" as I felt it was giving me false hope that he might change his mind. We agreed to no more writing. Maybe someday we can be friends again. Not now. The wounds are too fresh.
ReplyDeleteDelores: Check out Rossblog for news of Wanda!
ReplyDeleteAnd... I checked your MS page... so glad you and Dreama are getting along so well! LOL!
Congrats on 1st, Goldie!
OK, gotta fly... playing tennis this morning... Hello to Zona, GM, Tinkatia, and all owls north and south, east and west!
I'm waving a wing back at all my Owl friends. I am having lunch today with a couple of people I used to work with in a small non-profit organization. We used to have the best time! I got together with Deb a couple of years ago when, at age 50, she was pregnant for the first time....with twins! I haven't seen Mel since the early 80's. He lives by Sacramento and works for the Attorney Generals Office. I'm really looking forward to this lunch and for a little while I will not think of Custard at all!
ReplyDelete55
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Mek - Congrats on 50.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Whabbear - How fun at tennis.
Just_Lin - Good for you. I know you will do what is best for you.
I am off to get groceries. I have a dinner date tonight. I will see you all this afternoon.
Grandma Moses~~I'm happy to 'see' you here more often, and have to tell you, belatedly, how very touched I was by your 9-11 memories.
ReplyDeleteJustLin~~Have fun!
Bear~~Thought of you while watching CNN just now and seeing the MAJOR flooding near JSC and all the siding torn off the Hilton there.
Tinka~~You asked if I was still having summer weather. WELL, my MS WeatherClickr says 85 today, 90 tomorrow. However, WeatherChannel's local says 87 today, 93 tomorrow, 97 Monday, so....that would be a definite "Yes". The beauty of September highs though is it's only that temp for an hour or two rather than most of the day. Back to the beach for me!
Hi Whabbear!
ReplyDeleteSo you saw my myspace background huh......lol
I have been wondering where Wanda got off to! Thats hilarious!
"shaking her skinny little fist".......lmao!
Damn! These pesky weather reports keep popping up on my screen....."YOU ARE GOING TO DIE"......."FLOODWATERS ARE COMING"....."GET ON YOUR ROOF"....I really am hitting the streets now.....someone may need my help....if ya know what I mean!
It is a rainy day which we needed.
ReplyDeleteMy kids all decided to play "mover men" and they have cleaned their rooms.
I just checked out Season Three of Ghost Whisperers.
What an awesome day!
The day will even get better soon, because Dean and I are going to the movies!!
I just love my worry free holiday.
ReplyDeleteTwo bills came in the mail today and I'm not going to open them until Tuesday.
iteach OMG! Why didn't I know of the game "mover men" when my kids were little? LOL
ReplyDeletePrayers for the Owls affected by Ike! Please be safe!
ReplyDeleteMadame Zona....fab blog! I love that video...it cracks me up everytime I see it. That guy is brilliant! And I myself am a dancing fool...seriously...I look like a fool when I dance!!!!!!! I have never figured out why I am such a better dancer at home with the curtains shut just giving it to the latest Gap commercial then I am on the dance floor. I love the songs like YMCA and Shout where you just do what everyone else does and wiggle alot! I must say I am a fine wiggler...maybe in my last life I was a worm!
Okay, I just got home from "up island" and I need to get to the gym before it closes for the day. Good thoughts and big hugs to all that need them today!!!
Zona! Wow, great blog!! Who was that guy??
ReplyDeleteHello all..I hope everyone is having an awesome Saturday. I am going to read comments now. Congrats on first goldie!!

ReplyDeleteI hope everyone is okay from Ike too. I have been watching it all night.
J/L!!!!!! What a wonderful idea- I will have to look into the whore box idea. Haven't been on one of those in several years.
ReplyDeleteNot sure my son would be able to handle it twice in his lie though......LOL
I could have swore I posted yesterday..lol, I went back to read over the comments and I guess I didn't!! Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteRonnie: I sure hope you are okay. Is she the only one that we haven't heard from yet?

ReplyDeleteHi VIG and Bebbi. Just dropping by .
ReplyDeleteVIG - I didn't know you would be home already. I had better go and answer your message. I didn't think you would be home until tonight.
Bebbi - I thought I was posting when you were posting and then I looked at the clock. Maybe next time we will connect.
Happy Saturday Owls.
ReplyDeleteGoldie, Congrats on #1. Hopefully you will get the chance to embarrass your son at his wedding. It's a parent's job, after all.
Zona, I have never seen that video, but I did see that guy on TV (Ellen I think). He is really funny. Thanks for the smiles. I'm too old to recognize some of those dances, but some of them brought back memories, some good and some not so much.
Tinka, The last song that was played at all the dances I attended was always, "Goodnight Sweetheart" One of the Los Angeles radio stations always played it at midnight, also. BTW, great march to 25.
MEK, Congrats on #50. Glad you enjoyed yourself on the course yesterday.
My thoughts are with all the people in Ike's path. Delores, gotta watch out for those flying turds.
Waving a wing at all the other Owls here and who will land later.

ReplyDeleteSacbarb - The station my parents listened to always ended with "Good Night Sweetheart Good Night". I would lie in my bed and listen to their radio in the next room and wait for that ending song. I wonder if many different stations used that song. They played it every night for years.
ReplyDeleteI have such fond memories of hearing the words "Get your partner for the Last Dance." Could it really be that long ago?
I am getting ready to go out. I will see you all tomorrow. Hopefully we will have heard from Ronnie by then.
Have a great evening.
Another great blog
Zona-My-Baby.
I asked the hubby to take me to the movies for my birthday. So we just got back from seeing Burn After Reading.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very good dark comdey. It is a Cohen Brothers movie, so you know it is going to be off the wall.
It felt great to get out.
Hi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteiteach:
Loved that you are not opening your bills till Tuesday, good for you! and so glad you and hubby went out, I heard about that movie
Goldie:
Congrats on First!
Just_Lin:
Good for you, no reason to be chatty, if one is skirting around a issue.. Oh, and mouth open for flying turds..lol...
Delores:
Glad you are ok, flying turds...
Oh my, just the thought...
Whabby:
I read the Wanda comment, and thought of the olden days on Rossland!!
Zona:
I agree with Vig! Fab blog, got me a dancin... I love the videos we can all find on you tube, some nights I get so lost, watching so many.. I also remember so of the dancin... Fun times.. Thank You for your blog today, so very much appreciate it...
Ronnie:
I hope you are doing well...
SacBarb:
ReplyDeleteOld, you, Geez you do more than me in your active life, to me you are a youngin :O)
omg Zona~ that was hilarious. I have never seen it before. I was watching it and my son walked in and said "the evolution of dance!". I said, "Oh, you've seen it?" and he said, "Uh...only like 50 times!" I just know there was a duh in there somewhere! That was cute....and I remember so many of those dances~
ReplyDeleteGoldie~ congrats on 1st~ I understand that someone is leaving you a recipe when she dies! (i really don't want what she's leaving me unless batteries are included!) :)~
Tinka~ that was a cute way of learning the twist~
I've been watching a Houston station all last night and on and off today. I sure hope Ronnie doesn't have too much damage....such a mess~
Hi Carol, Thanks, but watching that video just made me feel old.
ReplyDeleteBear, I saw your Wanda comment and I also saw Linda in Squamish comment about the old days on the Ross Blog when there was marching with pom poms and leg kicks instead of begging for comments to reach 200.
tina~ I'm hoping it not for a long time yet- but I can't wait to get my hands on that recipe!!
ReplyDeletesacbarb- I have already succeded in embarrasing him and he doesnt even know it yet. They have someone who putting a slide show together during the reception.
Well, I found ALL the good pictures! No nudes (Mr. Goldie wouldn't let me) but the best is when he is 4- standing in a wading pool in his tidie whities with arms outspread like he is King of the world. He is going to choke when he sees' that one! I made the DIL promise not to show him ahead of time. Lots of good dorky pics in there too.
Goldie, I wish I had thought to do that when my son got married last Feb. You'll have to give us a report after the wedding.
ReplyDeleteCarol It seemed like Custard wanted to break up but not let me go, if that makes sense. I mean, how's he going to miss me if I never leave? LOL
ReplyDeleteI had a great time today having lunch with my old buddies. What fun to reminisce about the old days!
90
ReplyDeleteHappy Early Eve!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone had an excellent day!!
I took my mom to see "The Women" and we both REALLY enjoyed it..
Iteach - glad to hear that you and Mr. Iteach went to a movie as well. and that you have some Ghost Whisper episodes to catch up on!!
I can't wait for the new season to start!!
i'm exhausted and need to stay awake for SNL tonight!!
bbl...
MEK- I certainly hope no one is taking video of me that night!! I will try to post some pics though.
ReplyDeleteBy the time of the reception I will have changed into my "casual and comfortable" clothes as it is at a park with a large pole building (unheated) for the dancing and dinner. The smaller heated (with the bathrooms) building will hold the food and the be a place for people to go to sit and visit, or take a load off if they chose to be away from the dancing. Why is my son having a reception in a place in Oct in MN not heated???? Good hearty folk up there I guess- lol.
In honour of Zona's fab blog and great theme...let's get this dance party to 100 started....
ReplyDelete...jiving....
ReplyDelete..cha cha cha -ing...
ReplyDelete...fox trotting...
ReplyDelete...mambo-ing...

Your grandson is gorgeous!
ITEACH: Did you and your hubby dance together?? ;)
split post...
MEK- I thought about going to that one with a girlfriend. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteVIG- Way to go on 100.
Zona- Our dance is more of a rockin one! :)
Sandie- Did your gas prices jump? I thought I read on the news that Georgia went to $4.99 a gallon.
TINKA: I would have loved to see you do the Twist! My dad won a Twist contest and a Limbo contest when he and mom were dating...he never did show us his winning moves. LOVED your march to 25...WHOPPEE!! LOL...
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: I am guessing you were quite the dancer...don't be shy... ;)
CPGEM: SWAK!!
TINA: I bet there is one dance you do better than any other...wait, is that a dance?? ;)
VIG: You crack me up, you dancing goof! LOL..Congrats on 100!! Oh, and don't forget the fencepost dance.... ;)
GMOSES: YAY for chair wigglin'!!

ReplyDeletepeaking in
ReplyDeleteJoey, just posted me a comment and asked me to tell all the owls "hello"!
ReplyDeleteHello, Joey!
ReplyDeleteThanks, iteach!
Happy Birthday Eve, iteach!!!! Hope you have a fantastic day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteMEK: Did you ever see the original version of "The Women" with Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer and Rosalind Russell?? It's a terrific movie..I've seen it at least ten times. Just love it.
ReplyDeleteITEACH: HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! SWAK!
Zona - no, I did not see the original - I'll have to find it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your blog today!!
Iteach - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.. may you have an excellent day!!
I'm trying SO hard to stay awake thru SNL.....
MEK: Do you remember the days when staying up through SNL was just a given?? Who would believe we'd ever have to "try"...ahhhh...1976..LOL...
ReplyDeleteOH - and for all you MEKal's fans out there......
ReplyDeletetomorrow's ad has a 50% off coupon for the whole week!!!
(I, seriously, can't think of ANYTHING else that I need to purchase!!!)
but - I just wanted to give all the heads up!!!
:-)
Man, I keep getting FOAD!!!
ReplyDeleteZona - OH - the "old days" of watching SNL...... heck, I think when SNL came on was about the time the party STARTED - not the time to go to bed!! LOL..
Zona and sacBarb - I managed to stay awake!!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to bed.
Hope everyone has an excellent Sunday!!!
:-)
MEK: It WAS the time the party started!! Oh well... ;) G'night!!
ReplyDeleteZONA - Love that video!!! And I can just picture MR. ZONA bustin' a move!!! :P
ReplyDeleteDELORES - So glad you checked in.....I just hope you remembered your lipstick!!!
MEK - You're a better woman than me!! I fell asleep about 3 hours before SNL came on. lol!! Of course that is my "normal" bedtime!!!
ITEACH - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Glad you and the MR. enjoyed the movie!! I mailed your card on Friday, so I'm sure you won't get it til Monday....sorry!!!
TINA - lol @ batteries!!! I have explicit instructions for MR. JODI to send fresh ones!!!
GOLDIE - Ya.....hearty people up in MN don'tcha know!!! :P
ZONA - I love to dance, but sadly, it's like pulling teeth to get the MR. to take me. At my 10 year class reunion I won the award for doing the best "Wild Thing" on the dancefloor.....all when I was 9 months pregnant with Sam!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only time I have been foaded and it happened when it's been an effort to type.
ReplyDeleteMy foaded post said.
Good Afternoon Owls.
I just woke up and thought I would check in. I don't know if I am cheating but I think allowances should be made for the old and sickly.
My three things -
ONE DOG CRATE - to carry my "fur babies".
ONE CASE - of Slim Fast powder. I assume there is drinking water.
ONE DOWN COMFORTER - wrapped around my down pillow and favourite bear.
That's it for me today. I will read comments and check myspace tomorrow. Thanks for the well wishes. I am going back to bed.
Love, Tinka
(This time I am copying and pasting before I post).
