Such a memory!
I so remember every word to this song, I remember the meaning behind it, and the look, that "I know" look between the two of them. It seemed at the time that this love was to be unbroken, as they stuck together, they knew they had something, and it was deep. And I remember when they were no longer together, and their hearts broke in two. What comes next in my memory is Cher's eulogy at Sonny's funeral, her tears so real, her feelings so raw. As you see, she remembered too, he molded her, he made her who she is, he gave her the confidence that she so needed, and then she took what he taught her and made a life of her own forever expanding her career, however, always remembering along the way the respect and love that they shared.
Enjoy!
1st 2 days in a row?
ReplyDeleteGreat clip and memory Carol!
ReplyDeleteI remember feeling so sad when they broke up, and crying when I watched the eulogy she gave.
I met Sonny Bono in his office in Washington when we were there for a special luncheon. He had the best smile and was just as friendly as could be. I was very saddened the day he died.
My SIL and BIL ALWAYS do this song at karaoke (badly)- but it is "their song".
Good Morning Hooters!!!!!!!!!!
boo~ off to church~
ReplyDeletecongrats on first, Goldie~
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day.
Ok, my first march- hi Tina~ of the day- 5!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!!
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: I loved Sonny and Cher. I had all their records and never missed the TV show. I was 13 when they broke up, and absolutely devestated. I even wrote to 'Parade' magazine, hoping they would tell me it was all a lie. Unfortunately, they confirmed it instead.
I was shocked when I heard the news that Sonny had died. When I watched the eulogy Cher gave, I felt like I was thirteen all over again.
Thanks for this video today, it brought back some great memories of all the times they made me smile!
GOLDIE: I see you there! Congrats on FIRST! How cool that you got to meet Sonny!
Good Morning TINA...

'morning to HODI and TINA and ZONA!
Hi Zona and Jodi!
ReplyDeleteMO! Howdy!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Owls.
ReplyDelete14
ReplyDeleteCAROL...great blog. When I was a teen and watched the Sonny and Cher show, I always loved the way Sonny looked so lovingly at Cher and then when he would gently pull away a stray hair...I melted everytime. I wanted a guy that would look at me like that. I was so heartbroken when they divorced. And shocked and saddened when he passed away. When he was the mayor of Palm Springs, everytime I went there I kept my eyes peeled for a chance sighting, but to no avail!
ReplyDelete'morning TINKA!
ReplyDeleteWaving a wing at MO & TINKA!! I just dropped the boys off at Sunday School. I'll be back after church!!
ReplyDeleteZONA - I would LOVE that video!!! Bring it on!! SERIOUSLY!! Take your pick with the collections!! :P
MO - Enjoy your day off!!

ReplyDeleteHODI..thanks!
ReplyDeleteHI MO!! I looked for Sonny in Palm Springs too...nada...
ReplyDeleteTINKA: A lovely GOOD MORNING to you!!!
JODI: Would you like the video with or without cartoon character voices??? ;)
To appreciate the collections..you really have to come down here and visit! :D

Carol thank you for the Sunday morning clip.
Was a huge Sonny and Cher fan when I was a kid. Never missed the show they had. Still a huge Cher fan all these years later.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITEACH!
Waving a wing at everyone who is awake already. Hodi, Mo, Tina, Zona, Tinka!
At anyone else about to fly in.
Has anyone heard from Ronnie? I am quite worried about her!
ZONA...just for me? I guess having clean clothes, a clean toilet, a clean kitchen and buying gross-eries for me counts, right!? LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day ahead.......
Maybe a little playing on the nest counts, too!!!
Oh boy I am grabbing a plate of sausage gravy and biscuits! Thanks Mo!
ReplyDeleteLYNN..'morning granny! How is Richard doing? And your daughter? He is sooooo precious.
ReplyDeleteShirley, I will have the hasb brown casserole, my all time favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone, thank you so much for the happy birthdays, I've cried more then once this morning.
I so appreciate it.
Hey Mo!
ReplyDeleteBaby and Mom are doing fine. Mom is sore but moving around.
Ritchie as I am calling him is sleeping 3 and 4 hours at a time. So this is good news. He only seems to get upset when we change his diaper or his clothes! LOL I am guessing he will not be one of those toddlers that strips!
What a surprise. I said "Hello" at 15 and came back after feeding my babies and it's at #29. The nest must be full or have they now left? That is the question.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Iteach.
I am off to read the blog and comments. Be back in a few minutes to see who is still here.
ITEACH...I so hope they were happy tears.
ReplyDeleteMO: I was thinking more along the lines of 'relaxing' fun...lol...playing on the blog definately counts!
ReplyDeleteLYNND: Waving right back at you!! :)
Grabbing a Diet Pepsi and a bagel...thanks MO!!
Mo- Happy Tears!
ReplyDeleteCarol- I so love this song. The Mr. sings it to me all the time.
Lynn- I so miss holding a newborn in my arms.
Oh Carol, I don't know why but I cried all the way through the video and still I am having trouble seeing what I type. I loved it. It brought back such happy memories of watching the show each week.
ReplyDeleteI identified strongly with their perfect marriage. Remember they brought Chastity out at the end of each show. I had a baby the same age at the time. Their marriage like mine would last forever. I was very upset when they broke up. I was distraught at his memorial when Cher spoke so sweetly about him.
Sometimes life isn't that kind. Thank goodness we have lots in our lives that do make us happy. I guess the "forever after" kind of marriage isn't meant for everyone.
Thanks for the video Carol. In spite of the tears it invoked, I wouldn't have missed it for anything.
Good Morning Goldie - 1st again.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Tina, Jodi,
Zona-My-Baby, Maureen, Lynn and Iteach, the birthday girl.
Oh, its Brunch time! Ok, I'll just help myself to a little bit of EVERYTHING- (except the slimfast). Thank you so much MO.
ReplyDeleteI have a big roast with potatoes and carrots in the slow-cooker and a lovely french baguette and baby greens salad waiting to be eaten. I will put out extra plates for you all to join us later.
Zona - You are up early or are you just going to sleep?
ReplyDeleteI have all the Sonny and Cher records too, or at least I have some of them. I don't know how many they made.
Tina and Jodi - Say some prayers for me at church today. I can always use them to keep me on the "straight and narrow path."
Maureen - I hope you find the time to have a lot of fun today.
Thanks for breakfast.
I had a big dinner last night,
"Thai prawns fettucini", so I think I will just have a grapefruit, bagel, tea and a Slim Fast to go.
Iteach - Have a Fantastic birthday today.
Ronnie - Check in please.
I am getting ready to go to the Toy Show with Brian this morning. The early birds find the best toys so we are getting there when it opens at nine.
ReplyDeleteI will be back this afternoon. Have a great Sunday everyone.

ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday A.M.!!!
ReplyDeleteGoldie - congrats on FIRST (again)!
We are going to have pot roast today also!! YUMMY!!!
waving howdy to Goldie, Tina, Zona, Jodi, MO, Tinka, Lynn D, and Iteach and all who land!!
Iteach - (again) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! may all your hopes, wishes and dreams come true!!
Just got finished watching "Sleepless in Seattle" and now (IBB's favorite is coming on) - The Wedding date!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
cpgem - thank you for the great blog today!! I LOVED watching the Sonny and Cher show - you felt like they would be together forever!!
ReplyDeleteI Got YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU, babe!!!
Ronnie - crossing my fingers and praying that you are alright!!!
ReplyDeleteiteach~ Happy Birthday~ I hope it's a fun one~
ReplyDeleteCarol~ i loved the Sonny & Cher Show. I thought they were the best. I just finished reading the eulogy Cher wrote and listening to some of their songs....made me both sad and happy~
zona~ GO TO BED!!!!~
Mo~ have you heard from Ronnie, yet~
Jodi~ have fun~
Tinka~ have fun with Brian~
It's nap time somewhere, right?
Carol, I love this song and know all the words, too. Mu Hubby and I dressed as Sonny and Cher for a Halloween party one year and we did this song too. You notice I didn't say 'sing' the song. We gave it a good try though and it was good for a laugh.
ReplyDeleteI will read the comments and be back.
Congrats on first goldie! Today AND yesterday!
ReplyDeleteGreat video clip of Sonny & Cher!
Loved yesterday's entry too. I have that dance video in my favorites on YouTube.
The camping trip with my Scouts was wonderful! It was VERY hot but at least there wasn't one drop of rain! Unbelievable, because EVERYONE said it was going to rain all weekend. The radar even showed it on it's way!
I have a lot of comments to read, so I'll be back later.
Goldie Congrats on first again and also on your march to 5! LOL
ReplyDeleteCarol Loved the video but like Tinka, I ended up in tears. It doesn't take much these days.
It is 11:30 here and I am still in my robe and nightgown. I really slept in late today. Because of my cold, I've been taking Nyquil at night and it really knocks me out.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITEACH!
ReplyDeleteTinka: A Toy Show sounds like fun! Can't wait to hear what you got!
Gosh, I'm falling asleep here at the computer. Not a lot of sleep with a dozen 5th graders over the weekend. I think I'll get a little nap and then I'll read yesterday's comments.
iteach HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope your day goes perfectly.
ReplyDeleteMo Thank you for the breakfast spread. I think I will be good today and just have the oatmeal but without the raisins. Thanks.
Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy birthday to Iteach! I hope you have a fun day!
Congrats on being first Goldie :)
Well, I got teary watching the video Zona, I love that song and loved Sonny and Cher!
Thank you for posting this today.
My parents had friends that lived next door to Sonny's parents in LA, that is the closest I ever came to seeing Sonny or Cher.
Never did see Sonny when we visited, or his parents for that matter! haha.
Had a big crowd here yesterday for last party of the summer. It was not as hot (about 90) as when we had the BABB.
I made YH baked beans in the crock pot and they were awesome! I got lots of compliments, wish I could take credit for the recipe!
I am still cleaning up, almost done washing dishes, pots and pans, and have all the recycle stuff sorted out. Just have to wait for MR. EBJ to get home from work later to take it out.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Oh yes, I got 50!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Everyone!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Iteach.
Goldie, Congrats on first again!
Been a miserable weekend here. It's been raining since friday, most of the time pretty dang hard too.
Boz does not like the rain anymore so when he has to go out to do his bidness...I have to go with him using a umbrella. He walks under it with me and I have to hold it over him until he's done! Can you say....spoiled baby. ha!
Oh yeah..the umbrella is hot pink!
I think he likes the color.
Had water coming in the basement window, but I think I have the problem solved. Had to scoop some of the water out of the window well. Then I put a garbage bag over the plastic covering. That hail storm we had a while back cracked the covering and left a couple of holes. Never got around to getting a new one. I'll have to do that real soon, maybe this week.
Other than that, not a whole lot going on 'round here.
Think we're just gonna have soup and sammies for dinner.
Hope you all are having a good day.

ReplyDeleteWent to Church later today so I could watch the Raiders win over the Chiefs, and now watching the Denver/Charger game. MEK & Dianne, are you watching, too?
ReplyDeleteMo, I'll warm up a frittata in the microwave for lunch. Thanks.
MEK, I watched 'Sleepless...' yesterday. Love that movie.
Hart, Welcome back from your camping trip. How nice that you didn't have rain.
Birdee, you are so good to Boz.
EBJ, Glad your party was a success and it wasn't so hot. It was 88 here yesterday.
Zona, I hope you are getting some sleep.
Tinka, Have fun at the toy show.
Lynn, Waiting for more pics of Richard.
Jodi, Can Goldie give out the 'secret' recipe after you are gone?? LOL LOL
Hi Tina.
Iteach, ♪♪ HB2UUUU ♪♪
SACBARB - I guess she can if she wants to!! I'm trying to figure out how to sell it to QVC and make millions!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a great night!! We're having lasagne for supper and it's almost ready.
DIANNE - Looks like the little song you taught me worked!!! GO BRONCOS!!!
ReplyDeleteNevermind Jodi, I'll be gone long before I can get my hands on that recipe, unless you are successful in selling it to QVC. That would be so cool.
ReplyDeleteDonna Jo - I just woke from my nap to sort out my treasures that I got at the Toy Show. It was like Christmas morning because I forgot what I had bought. I had 41 altogether. The real treasures I found were 3 dalmatians that I have been looking for, the complete set of 8 small dolls that belong to the "Wizard of Oz." I already had one of them but I bought the complete set and will have an extra scarecrow. I also found 6 rare Beanie Baby Bears that I did not already have in my collection. I won't bore you with the rest but I love everyone of them.
ReplyDeleteBrian bought close to 50 miniature cars. His collection is into the thousands. He needs to find a way of displaying them. That's the fun of collecting is being able to look at them all set out.
Guessing by the hundreds of people there I would say there are still a lot of six year olds walking around in adult bodies. I could count the number of children on my fingers. They were mostly men.
I was tired when I got home and had a nap before I even opened my bags.
Birdee - Loved seeing you in the nest today. Your doggy is one 'after my own heart if he loves his pink umbrella.
Good Afternoon to Mek, Sacbarb, Just_Lin and East Bay J.
A special shout out of VIG who I think is marking papers today, and of course to my loving daughter Zona.

I have been marking papers and not on the blog today and I'm not sure if I missed this or not, but just wondering if anyone has heard from Ronnie.
Carol..as always, a great blog! I was never a huge S&C fan, but I do like that song and I remember watching the show with my Mom who loved it, and that is a great memory in itself! Thanks for once again for writing a blog that evokes a lovely memory!
Tink...hi! Missed you there! Glad you had fun at the toy show. Sounds like you found some great treasures! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first again, Goldie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, iteach! I hope you're having a fabulous day!
Carol, thanks for the Sonny and Cher video! I loved them, too, and was so sad when they split up. I recently saw Cher on the Oprah show with Tina Turner (it was a repeat) and Cher said she left Sonny because he was controlling and jealous. It surprised me--I'd never heard that before. Tina said Cher was an inspiration for her to leave Ike. Anyway, I loved the way Sonny and Cher looked at each other in this video.
