Such a memory!

I so remember every word to this song, I remember the meaning behind it, and the look, that "I know" look between the two of them. It seemed at the time that this love was to be unbroken, as they stuck together, they knew they had something, and it was deep. And I remember when they were no longer together, and their hearts broke in two. What comes next in my memory is Cher's eulogy at Sonny's funeral, her tears so real, her feelings so raw. As you see, she remembered too, he molded her, he made her who she is, he gave her the confidence that she so needed, and then she took what he taught her and made a life of her own forever expanding her career, however, always remembering along the way the respect and love that they shared.

Enjoy!

  1. Great clip and memory Carol!

I remember feeling so sad when they broke up, and crying when I watched the eulogy she gave.

I met Sonny Bono in his office in Washington when we were there for a special luncheon. He had the best smile and was just as friendly as could be. I was very saddened the day he died.

My SIL and BIL ALWAYS do this song at karaoke (badly)- but it is "their song".

    Good Morning Hooters!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Good Morning!!

CPGEM: I loved Sonny and Cher. I had all their records and never missed the TV show. I was 13 when they broke up, and absolutely devestated. I even wrote to 'Parade' magazine, hoping they would tell me it was all a lie. Unfortunately, they confirmed it instead.

I was shocked when I heard the news that Sonny had died. When I watched the eulogy Cher gave, I felt like I was thirteen all over again.

Thanks for this video today, it brought back some great memories of all the times they made me smile!

  10. CAROL...great blog. When I was a teen and watched the Sonny and Cher show, I always loved the way Sonny looked so lovingly at Cher and then when he would gently pull away a stray hair...I melted everytime. I wanted a guy that would look at me like that. I was so heartbroken when they divorced. And shocked and saddened when he passed away. When he was the mayor of Palm Springs, everytime I went there I kept my eyes peeled for a chance sighting, but to no avail!

  25. Oh Carol, I don't know why but I cried all the way through the video and still I am having trouble seeing what I type. I loved it. It brought back such happy memories of watching the show each week.

I identified strongly with their perfect marriage. Remember they brought Chastity out at the end of each show. I had a baby the same age at the time. Their marriage like mine would last forever. I was very upset when they broke up. I was distraught at his memorial when Cher spoke so sweetly about him.

Sometimes life isn't that kind. Thank goodness we have lots in our lives that do make us happy. I guess the "forever after" kind of marriage isn't meant for everyone.

Thanks for the video Carol. In spite of the tears it invoked, I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Well, I got teary watching the video Zona, I love that song and loved Sonny and Cher!

Thank you for posting this today.

My parents had friends that lived next door to Sonny's parents in LA, that is the closest I ever came to seeing Sonny or Cher.

Never did see Sonny when we visited, or his parents for that matter! haha.

Had a big crowd here yesterday for last party of the summer. It was not as hot (about 90) as when we had the BABB.

I made YH baked beans in the crock pot and they were awesome! I got lots of compliments, wish I could take credit for the recipe!

I am still cleaning up, almost done washing dishes, pots and pans, and have all the recycle stuff sorted out. Just have to wait for MR. EBJ to get home from work later to take it out.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

  40. Good Afternoon Everyone!!

    Happy Birthday Iteach.

    Goldie, Congrats on first again!

Been a miserable weekend here. It's been raining since friday, most of the time pretty dang hard too.
Boz does not like the rain anymore so when he has to go out to do his bidness...I have to go with him using a umbrella. He walks under it with me and I have to hold it over him until he's done! Can you say....spoiled baby. ha!
Oh yeah..the umbrella is hot pink!
I think he likes the color.

Had water coming in the basement window, but I think I have the problem solved. Had to scoop some of the water out of the window well. Then I put a garbage bag over the plastic covering. That hail storm we had a while back cracked the covering and left a couple of holes. Never got around to getting a new one. I'll have to do that real soon, maybe this week.
Other than that, not a whole lot going on 'round here.

Think we're just gonna have soup and sammies for dinner.

Hope you all are having a good day.

  46. Donna Jo - I just woke from my nap to sort out my treasures that I got at the Toy Show. It was like Christmas morning because I forgot what I had bought. I had 41 altogether. The real treasures I found were 3 dalmatians that I have been looking for, the complete set of 8 small dolls that belong to the "Wizard of Oz." I already had one of them but I bought the complete set and will have an extra scarecrow. I also found 6 rare Beanie Baby Bears that I did not already have in my collection. I won't bore you with the rest but I love everyone of them.
Brian bought close to 50 miniature cars. His collection is into the thousands. He needs to find a way of displaying them. That's the fun of collecting is being able to look at them all set out.
Guessing by the hundreds of people there I would say there are still a lot of six year olds walking around in adult bodies. I could count the number of children on my fingers. They were mostly men.
I was tired when I got home and had a nap before I even opened my bags.

    The Cub's pitcher just pitched a no-hitter!

Unbelieable, it was so much fun jumping up and down in the livingroom with everyone!

  98. Hi...It just warms the little "cockles of my heart" to see the Go Bronocos on the blog especially from WESconsin!!

JODI: I think you are Denver's new mascot and good luck charm. Since you changed teams, put on the orange shirt and now sing the Bronco song...we can't lose.

MEK: It was a very scary ending..going for 2 pnts (which we don't usually do too well). We were at a Bronco party cheering!

OK SACBARB, I will give you a congratulations for the Raiders beating the Chiefs BUT don't make a habit of winning, please!!

JUSTLIN, I would think you might draw a few comments from Seahawk fans on here regarding your 49er win!

Ok..will post again...this was my sports post!

Donna Jo - If you ever want to sell your Dalmatians let me know.

Good Night Whabbear, Dianne, Just-Lin, East Bay J and anyone else still in the nest. I just got up to check who is here.

Iteach - One last "Happy Birthday" for good luck.

    Love, Tinka

  101. I got word that RONNIE and her family are all safe. She has no power at her home, so she is still at her daughter's house. Her cell phone was not working, but she was finally able to get a call out.

I don't know when she will return home, but I am sure that as soon as she can, she will stop in and say hello to all.
