I love Disney movies. They have always been able to take me away from the troubles and stresses of the day and set me down gently in a world of make believe. There's a special place in my heart for Disney animated movies...and certain scenes have stayed with me for years. Thumper's foot pounding on the ice in "Bambi"...the pumpkin turning into a beautiful coach in "Cinderella"...Baloo scratching his back on the tree in "Jungle Book". And then there are the songs! "Bare Necessities"..."Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo"..and of course, "When You Wish Upon A Star". I have so many wonderful memories and good feelings associated with these films. They have brought me joy that will last a lifetime. What is your favorite Disney movie or song? Does it touch your heart the same way now, as it did when you were a child?
1st for Tinka!
ReplyDeleteI like watching Walt Disney movies, but I don't know that I have a favorite. They all seem pretty good to me. I remember watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" every Sunday night at 6:00.
ReplyDeleteThanks Zona.
Thanks also for all the kind words regarding my cousin and her wife.
Good Morning Everyone,
ReplyDeleteI love DISNEY, yes Shirley I also remember watch "The Wonderful World of Disney" every Sunday night, but it was on at 7:00 in Michigan. My sister and I looked forward to it every SUNDAY!!!!!
I relived all the Disney Movies and then some with my kids. Bambie was my youngest favorite, so I know Bambie almost inside and out. Another one of all my kids favorites was THE LION KING, I LOVED THAT MOVIE ALSO.
This is a sweet blog Today.
shirley~ congrats on first~
ReplyDeleteZona~ hmmmmmm.......i don't think i've ever seen a disney movie~ :)~
My favorite is Sleeping Beauty~ I think cuz I so relate to it~ lol~ I remember seeing Snow White at the drive-in in my jammies....i was so scared! Confession.....I've never seen Jungle Book or Lady and the Tramp!
Morning Owls!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite has got to be Jungle Book! I loved the actual book and was ecstatic when the movie came out!
I wonder if it is against the law to shove the high pitched whining leaf blower up my neighbor's a$$?????
ReplyDeleteShe MUST get every leaf off her lawn the minute it falls.....even if it IS 7am!!!
Good Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st Shirley, hi reene eve, tina & scirish!
Shirley- I loved, loved, loved "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights.
I am a huge Disney fan, can't pick a favorite. I think it is a toss up between The Lion King and 101 dalmation and Jungle book.
Great blog Zona! Now I am going to be singing all the songs in my head today. It should be a happy day for me!
Shirley:

ReplyDeleteGreat Blog, I love Disney and all the movies. My favorite thing is to book a Disney Trip for a client and plan all their activities, dining, etc. Especially if its their first time going to Disney....
Now I want to watch, a Disney Movie.. And sing a Disney song..
Thanks Zona, I appreciate you writing the blog and sending it off to me... SWAK... ♥♥♥
LynnD:
ReplyDeleteHi... Bye.... :O)
Good morning Owls! I haven't been here much because work has been intense but I think of you all always and take you with me in my travels!
ReplyDeleteGood day Shirley, RE, Tina, Scirish, Carol,Lynn_D and all the Owls that come by later! May today be a big bowl full of yellow!
Zona - What a fabulousl blog that takes me back a year or two.. oh, I remember the days when I was a wee lassie and there was a Disney movie playing most Saturday afternoons at the Parmaount Theatre in my hometown. The movie cost 50 cents and the popcorn cost 50 cents. And I tried to go every chance I could..because what was better than a Disney movie!
A dream is a wish yout heart makes...said Cinderella. Remember: Always let your conscience be your guide...came from Pinnochio. What do you do when things go wrong? Oh! You sing a song...were the words of Snow White. Oh, the thngs we learned from a Disney movie! That life was good if you kept your chin up and saw the good and sweetness in things and did the right thing! All good!
Scirish:
ReplyDeleteMy dad it like that, he hates leaves falling, we have a landscaper that comes monthly, however that was not good enough for my dad...
So what did he do, he hired a tree cutter, and cut down our beautiful tree in our backyard. So now we get no shade on our back deck or in our yard, and in the summer, the sun just beats...
I'll tell ya, he spent 13thousand on our back deck, and now we can't enjoy it in the summer, and do think he cares, Nope! He is just happy there are no leaves....
So now we have to look into a awning..
He drives me nuts!!!!!!!
Vig:
ReplyDeleteHi, I was typing my story, when you popped in... Have a smiley day! :O)
Carol...Your Dad and my neighbor must be related....I wait 'til they are mostly all down and mow the hell out of them. She must hate me!
ReplyDeleteI must admit, that is the easy way out. Kinda like vacuuming the lawn.
ReplyDeleteScirish:
ReplyDeleteThat would drive my father crazy!!
Scirish:
ReplyDeleteI love your new pic... So cute!
I gotta go to work...
ReplyDeleteSee ya later...
Have a good day...
20 :O)
ReplyDeleteCarol...In my defense..They aren't even "my" leaves.
ReplyDeleteGood morning hooters,
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Shirley and Tinka for being 1st today!
I too am sending positive thoughts for Sandra and Rose.
Zona great blog, I LOVE Disney too! I think I would have to pick Cinderella, and Lady and the Tramp as favorites.
I remember going to Disneyland for the first time around 10 years old and seeing some of the Disney characters that I'd read about or seen on tv "Wonderful World of Disney".
Hope everyone has a great day, I'm working in the flu shot clinic today, so will probably have a sore wrist by the time I get home tonight!
Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all like watching the video..it just makes me smile everytime!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: I liked all of the movies too..except "Old Yeller" couldn't watch that one at all. I already knew how it ended...and wasn't ready, at that age, for life's realities and sadness. In fact...I still have never watched it.
TINA: LOL Sleeping Beauty!! Can I throw an OMG! in here too??? ;)
SCIRISH: Love "Bare Necessities"..and "I Wanna Be Like You" from Jungle Book...they're classics.
GOLDIE: Smiles! That's what I hoped for!! I've been singing these songs since I wrote the blog yesterday! Can't stop myself. Nikki and Mr Z may have heard enough though! ;)
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: Anytime my mind cooperates...I'll give it my best!! :) BTW...I missed the ice cream last night, will there be more tonight???
LYNND: Bambi scared me too...and I was 26 when I saw it for the first time!!! ;)
VIG: Beautiful post..dang me...!!
EBJ: I had my pic taken with Chip and Dale..I cherish that photo. Again...I was 26...lol..
Zona- our youngest was 15 when we took him to Disneyworld. We have a pic of him with Chip and Dale. He was none too happy to pose either! But the pic is hysterical.
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: Congrats on FIRST!
ReplyDeleteTINKA: Congrats on FIRST! Hope you are feeling well today..thinking of you, as always.
Hi RENEE!
I'm off to find some mice and birds that'll help me dust and vacuum...maybe they'll help me make a dress too? ;)
GOLDIE: I always loved Chip and Dale...but at 15 I may have rebelled against a photo too...by 26 I was ready! ;)
ReplyDeleteHem hollolo iyo
ReplyDeleteHakuna Matata!
Hem may'babo
When I was a cool young one
(When he was a cool young one)
I worked in the colony, paying my dues
Accepting without question the prevailing views
That a young man's life was one long grind
Diggin' holes, standin' guard till it crossed my mind
I was wrong
All along
All that I needed
Was to have heeded
Chorus:
Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's a problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
When I was a shallow youth
(When he was a shallow youth)
Cool calm reflection
I was never that good
I was a pawn in the game, I saw no trees for the wood
My future stretched behind me
I was over the hill
I put my best foot forward
But the other stood still
Take my word
I have heard
All that I needed
Was to have heeded
[chorus]
Hem hollolo iyo
Hakuna Matata!
Hem may'babo
Hakuna Matata!
I hope we have conveyed
You don't have to bust a gut in the sun
It's much cooler in the shade
Some say it's just a waste of time
But they don't realize
That view is nothing but a crime
We are creatures worldly wise
[chorus]
Good morning, Goldie, Zona, EBJ, scirish, shirley, Renee, Tina, Carol, Lynn D, and VIG!
ReplyDeleteWe always watched Wonderful World of Disney too. My Mom is a big animal lover, and so she was willing to let us have dinner in front of the TV on Sunday nights.
This was in the mid 60's, and I was obsessed with Lost in Space, which ran during the dinner hour on Saturdays. To get my Mom to let me eat my dinner in front of the TV for Lost in Space was MUCH more of an battle! LOL!
Favorite Disney movie and song: Mary Poppins and "Feed the Birds".
I'm just a big softy, I guess!
Good Morning Owls.
ReplyDeleteShirley - Congrats on first and thank you for giving it to me. Please, however, I was joking. Anyone who gets on first should claim it. That is their right. I slept in and I have "dibs" on 30 and that's not bad at all.
Zonababy - I read your great blog but I want to watch the video before I choose my favourite. I have so many it's hard to choose.
Good Morning Renee, Tina, Scirish, Carol, Lynn, Whabbear, Goldie, East Bay J,
Zona-my-Baby, and my friend who just arrived home last night but is leaving again this morning - VIG.
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
ReplyDeleteUm diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You'll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Because I was afraid to speak
When I was just a lad
My father gave me nose a tweak
And told me I was bad
But then one day I learned a word
That saved me aching nose
The biggest word I ever heard
And this is how it goes:
Oh, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You'll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
So when the cat has got your tongue
There's no need for dismay
Just summon up this word
And then you've got a lot to say
But better use it carefully
Or it may change your life
One night I said it to me girl
And now me girl's my wife!
She's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Tinka I knew you were joking but I wanted to do it anyway.
ReplyDeleteFOR BEAR:
ReplyDeleteEarly each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes.
In her own special way to the people she calls,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs.
Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do.
Their young ones are hungry,
Their nests are so bare;
All it takes is tuppence from you."
Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.
"Feed the birds," that's what she cries,
While overhead, her birds fill the skies.
All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares.
Though her words are simple and few,
Listen, listen, she's calling to you:
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag."
I wish I could post the music too..
When you wish upon a star
ReplyDeleteMakes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
I am loving the songs!!
ReplyDeleteWe dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in our mine the whole day through
ReplyDeleteTo dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what we really like to do
It ain't no trick to get rich quick
If you dig dig dig with a shovel or a pick
In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! In a mine!
Where a million diamonds shine!
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig from early morn till night
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig up everything in sight
We dig up diamonds by the score
A thousand rubies, sometimes more
But we don't know what we dig 'em for
We dig dig dig a-dig dig
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
It's home from work we go
(Whistle)
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
It's home from work we go
(Whistle)
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
(Whistle)
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho hum
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
It's home from work we go
(Whistle)
Heigh-ho
{ A sheet music version goes: }
Heigh ho, heigh ho
To make your troubles go
Just keep on singing
All day long, heigh ho
Heigh ho, heigh ho, heigh ho
For if you're feeling low
You positively can't go wrong
With a heigh, heigh ho
Heigh ho, heigh ho
It's home from work we go
Heigh ho, heigh ho
Heigh ho, heigh ho
All seven in a row
With a heigh, heigh ho
TINKA: I know there are 101 puppy dogs that have a hold on your heart!!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: LOL! Love the lyrics! I'm singin' and readin'...and still waiting for those birds and mice to come help me clean. ;)
Oh Zona, this is a hard one for me. I bought every Disney movie as soon as it came out on Video. Now I am collecting the DVD's as they appear. For the last 13 years I have been watching the movies through new eyes - my grandchildren's. Each would pick one and we would snuggle into my bed and watch them at our weekly sleepovers. Now they are older and we all have our own beds we still snuggle down and watch our favourites. Of course now their tastes are more mature but for years we watched all the standards that everyone knows. Thomas loved "The Jungle Book". One of his first words was "Croca". He loved the song "Never Smile at a Crocodile". Traci loved "Cinderella."
ReplyDeleteChoosing my favourite Disney song is like choosing my favourite child. It's impossible for me. If I had to choose I guess I would say "Bambi". It was the first movie I ever saw as a child, the first one I took my children to and the first one I took my grandchildren to. I loved the Flower scene; "You can call me Flower if you want to, I don't mind". and Thumper's response to his mother's asking him "Thumper, what did you father tell you to do?" Thumber replies "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all". The voices were great. I loved it.
I love almost all of the Disney songs. Besides the ones that everyone picks I loved the following:
ReplyDelete"Candle on the Water" and "It's Not Easy" from Pete's Dragon.
"So This is Love", from Cinderella.
"Little April Showers", from Bambi.
"Someone's Waiting for You" from The Rescuers.
"Stay Awake" and "Feed the Birds", from Mary Poppins.
"Bella Notte" from Lady and the Tramp.
"Lavender Blue", from So Dear To My Heart.
There are more. I think Disney movies are so special.
Zona - Thanks for the wonderful blog. This isn't a great day for me but I am okay.
Wishing everyone a good day. I will be back this afternoon.

ReplyDeleteZona - I am collecting 203 dalmatians. There is a 101 set and a 102 set. I have about 260 but many are doubles. I think there are about 6 left to find. I will get there eventually. I love all the movies too. There are 4 of them. Two are animated and two have real people. I love the animated ones best.
See you all later.
Zona,What a sweet video. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories.

ReplyDeleteWe are Siamese if you please
ReplyDeleteWe are Siamese if you don't please

Maybe we can reach on in and make it drown
If we sneaking up upon it carefully
There will be head for you and a tail for me
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you please
Now we're looking over our new domisile
If we like we stay for maybe quite a while
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don't please
We are from a residence of Siam
There is no finer cat than I am
Do you hear what I hear a baby cry
Where we finding baby there's milk near by
And if we look in baby buggy there could be
Plenty of milk for you and also some for me
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you please
Now we're looking over our new domisile
If we like we stay for maybe quite a while
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don't please
We are from a residence of Siam

ReplyDeleteZona Great blog and video today. I think my favorite Disney movie is Lady and the Tramp. Hey, it's a love story. :) Bambi was so cute but so sad. This time of year, I used to look forward the The Wonderful World of Disney because they would show Fantasia, which I really liked.

ReplyDelete68~
ReplyDelete69~
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Vig, thanks for reminding us of all those wonderful quotes. I think it's being taken back to that age of innocence that keeps me going back to Disneyland over and over.
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago YH planned a trip for my birthday and it was wonderful to have the gate attendants say Happy Birthday to me when I swiped my pass to go from Disneyland to the CA Adventure park and back again. Sounds corny, and even though I knew they did this for every season pass holder on their bday, I felt special. When we had dinner in a Disney restaurant, they brought me a Mickey Mousse (yes, mousse) dessert on a plate covered wth candy confetti. It was an incredible vacation in spite of the fact that it was 98 degrees in November. I almost forgot that YH and I took turns getting sick from the heat. Coming from fogland, we had to retire to our room by about 2pm and not come back out until 5 because we couldn't take it, LOL!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
ReplyDeletequestion: is getting 69 on Disney Day just completely wrong or what?~
ZONAThanks for the always heartwarming topic. Nice to start a frosty, foggy morning with a happy tune! It won't be easy settling on favorites....need caffeine first.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jodi (A-51) for the java! Started the day by getting on the scale, so I'll donate the glazers to the nest, mkay?
Grats on 1st, Shirley!
Remember, Zona, we're taking a 'field trip' together today :-). Sunny 70's at the beach!
Tina You didn't do that march to 69 with Pinocchio by any chance, did you? Bwahahahaha!!!!
ReplyDeleteZONA - Great blog!!! I think one of my fav's is Lion King. I especially like the song "The Circle of Life".....cried like a baby the first time I heard it after my Mom died. My kids are kinda past the Disney movie thing, but every once in awhile they still enjoy watching their favorites.
ReplyDeleteNIKKI - Thanks for the slurpee.....put a HUGE smile on my face today!!!
75!!!
ReplyDeleteTINA: Don't think so...hope not.. ;)
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: If Pinnochio lies..there could be trouble... ;)
TINKA: Hope you feel better! Thanks for reminding me of "Pete's Dragon" I always liked that one too. Congrats on 50 and 60...lol..
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: Peggy Lee wrote several of the songs for 'Lady and the Tramp'..the one you posted is one of them...so good!
JODI: Nikki can't wait to meet you..lol... :D
HI MARY, MEK, BON'O and OUTATUUNE!!
Look for the bare necessities
ReplyDeleteThe simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard
And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true
The bare necessities of life will come to you
Time for my power nap!! I'll bbl!
ReplyDelete80!!!
ReplyDeleteZona Oh, I assumed Pinnochio would be lying. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I knew that about Peggy Lee. I loved those naughty Siamese cats.

ReplyDeleteHappy Hump Day Owls.
ReplyDeleteZona, Great blog! I love Disney movies. My first was Cinderella and my Mom took me to my first movie evah. We rode the Streetcar to downtown Los Angeles and she took me out to lunch, too. I was 7 or 8 and I'll never forget the mouse calling for Cinderelly. It was a magical day. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
A big hello to all the Owls. I love reading about your Disney faves, and all the song lyrics are rolling around in my head.
ReplyDeleteScirish, I think you are within your rights to do whatever you want with that leaf blower at that time of the morning.
Carol, My Dad did the same thing with a tree in my sister's back yard while we were on a two week vacation. He was 'taking care' of her backyard while we were gone. She cried when she saw the stump where a beautiful tree once stood. He really thought he was doing a good thing.
Zona, I have never been able to wtch 'Old Yeller' either.

Sacbarb:
ReplyDeleteMy father knew it was wrong, and still did it... That is why he drives me nuts.. My poor mom loves her deck and can't enjoy it...
All because of leaves...
SacBarb:
ReplyDeleteDid you dad come thru Ellis Island? And if so, how did it come that he migrated to CA???
Zona: You didn't need to! I sang it in my head while reading the lyrics!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Outatune: ROFLMAO@ "Mickey Mousse"!!
SacBarb:
ReplyDeleteI should add...
I love hearing stories about Ellis Island and how once one got here to NJ/NY how did they end up leaving this area, and move to other places.
As back then, Ellis Island arrivals including my grandparents, came thru Ellis Island but once they got here they had no money, so most stayed on the east coast, and if they did travel they had to take the railroad (as it was called back then)...
So I am really quite interested, not being nosy :O)
SACBARB: What a nice memory...I loved when my folks would take us out of school once a year to see a movie and then to lunch. It was our own private 'ditch day'.
ReplyDeleteTINA: LOL @ your march to 100..that Prince Charming sure gets around.. ;)
BEAR: :)
CPGEM: My mom's grandmother came thru Ellis Island with her brother when she was just a teenager..they had their last name changed on their entry papers to make it more American.
ReplyDeleteCarol, Both my parents came through Ellis Island. My Mom was 4 and came with her parents and they stayed in NY because my grandfather had a job as a caretaker (gardener) on an Estate on Long Island.
ReplyDeleteMy Father came through Ellis Island at 16 by himself. His sister lived in NY and he lived with her until he married my Mother at 27. My Father was a construction worker and they decided to move to CA (when I was 4) so he could work year round.
My parents and my maternal grandparents each have a plaque on the wall at Ellis Island.
Carol, I also have a manifest from the ship that my Grandparents and my Mother and her older brother came to the U.S. on. (My grandparents had 7 more children all born in theU.S.) It was a gift from my youngest son for one of my birthdays. He had to go through a lot of records to find it, because their name was spelled wrong. I was very touched that he did that.
ReplyDeletesacbarb - that's way cool! now you got me wondering if YH's grandparent's are there and you got me wanting to go see the wall while we're there.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb~ that is so cool~ My grandparents walked.....north!~
ReplyDeleteWhabbear, I read your reply to me before I left the house today. I am sorry I didn't say thank-you.
ReplyDeleteI thought all that had already been settled! I hope the proposal goes the way you want it. If your proposals are like ours, the wording is tricky. I always have to read them very carefully before I hit "yes" or "no".
Outatuune, I paid to have my parents' name put on plaques and my Uncle paid to have my grandparents' names put on one. It was kind of expensive, but it was my gift to my parents for one of their anniversaries. I don't know if they are still doing that.
ReplyDeleteTina, Are you sure your grandparents walked? or did they swim??

ReplyDeletePinocchio & the leaf blower reminded me of something I read in our local news Sunday (slow news day!)
ReplyDelete"Man 29,arrested for sex act at car wash". He was arrested for "receiving sexual favors from a vacuume" at the car wash! An officer approached on foot and caught the man in the act!
Is that a riot or what !!
mary/mi - I can't imagine walking up on something like that, lol! couldn't the guy figure out if he saved his quarters he could buy a vacuum he could use in the privacy of his own home?!! my goodness!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: I think I need to clarify. My grandmother's name was changed by the officials at Ellis Island...she had no say in the matter.
ReplyDeleteMy comment page is going wonkers! The avatars are not showing and a few things are blacked out. Am I the only one having trouble?
ReplyDeleteoutatune, um,ah,er, maybe his vacumm at home is too small bwah ha ha!!
ReplyDeleteMARY/MI: I have a new page altogether...no avatars..nothing!!
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: That would be my great-grandmother...and with that....I quit for a while!
Zona, mine is back to normal. Must be an earl trick or treater!
ReplyDeleteThis is new, it isn't on the side anymore (the comment thingie)
ReplyDeleteHello All!
Congrats on first Shirley (and tink by proxy).
Great blog Zona, I really enjoyed it. This is weird how the comment box is on the bottom and the avators are gone. I do too Mary and zona. I want my old page back! hehe.
ReplyDeleteI love Disney too. I remember having a Disney album and listening to it over and over again, dancing around the coffee table. Supercalifragilisticexpialidotious, even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious, if you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious. Supercalifragilisticexpalidotious!
ReplyDeleteSorry I took so long to get on here today, I am having fun fun fun car troubles and am trying to walk walk walk too.
ReplyDeleteBebbi, now you've done it! I finally got that song out of my head a couple hrs ago!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back, have to do dishes. I made enchiladas tonight.
Oh My, What the heck happen to the comment section...
ReplyDelete?????????
Oh, Thank Goodness...... Our Full page commenting is back....
ReplyDeleteBlogger has come up with a new format for commenting, which is commenting on the same page as the blog ..and they made it the default.. I just had to change it to our original which is called "full page" I am so glad I was able to change it back...
Whew....
BRB...
ReplyDeleteOh shew..thank you CAROL! That is so much better!
ReplyDeleteMary/Mi - Umbdilly lily umbdilly lie ;)
Mary:
ReplyDeleteI love enchiladas!!!
Carol,
ReplyDeleteMy hubby's mother had the papers of the date that her father came through Ellis Island. She gave them to my son. We have them around here somewhere. She is polish (she has passed away now).
SacBarb and Zona:
ReplyDeleteThanks for indulging me, I find that info so interesting... Ellis Island is amazing, I have only been there once many yrs ago. I would like to go back, which is on a to do list I have made.. :O)
Zona:
I have heard that many names were changed when entering Ellis Island, either the person coming in could not spell in English, or the person taking the information could not understand the person coming in so they changed the name..
My last name was different as well, when my grandfather came over it really should be spelled with a A, but it was changed to a I.
SacBarb:
We have a plaque for my grandparents on my fathers side at Ellis Island...
Did your dad take the railroad to CA?
Shirley: I remember the Disney movies every sunday too. I loved those so much!
ReplyDeleteBebbi:
ReplyDeleteYou should really try and find them, it is such a big part of history. It is something that will never happen again. This is how America started..
Oh My, I am getting carried away.. I love this...
Tina:
ReplyDeleteI am just glad they walked... As if not we would not have you ♥♥♥
I think they may be in the safe. I will look and see. I know they are here somewhere. I would never lose them. Also, I have a full history of my ancestors on my mother's fathers side. On my dad's mother's side, they came over on the MAYFLOWER!
ReplyDeleteBebbi:
ReplyDeleteWow, The Mayflower... now that is history..
Mary/Mi: Well, you sound like you live in an interesting town. I don't think I will ever look at a vacuum hose at the car wash the same! lol
ReplyDeleteJODI: I changed my avatar so if I have someone's again, please let me know. I am getting to be an expert on your instructions, JODI!
ZONA: Fun blog. I know Wizard of Oz (or I think) it is not Disney but I still love it the best. I remember my grandmother coming to visit from New York and taking me to see Lady and The Tramp and that was in the 50's (betcha' didn't know I was that old, did you)? I loved the Mickey Mouse Club and knew the names of all the kids on it and all the songs.
I have had a very busy today. My patients were three of the sweetest ladies-all in their 90's. I really enjoy talking to them as they remember some of their growing up stories. I asked the 94 year old if there was anything I could bring her next week and she told me "some wine and a TV."
Tonight I am making a very simple Shepards Pie that I haven't ever made before....J/L...that is cooking, right?
BTW MEK, the snow didn't hit Denver as predicted, only in the mountains. My husband has been driving home in bad snow by the tunnel for the last two nights. It is really cold here today but sunny!
I had better go check on my dinner so it won't burn.
Dianne Yes, that is cooking. It sounds yummy. Mr.D will be surprised. Your new avatar is very cute.
ReplyDeleteMary/MI I guess it's much cheaper than a hooker.
JustLynn, I wonder what is Wife will think of that!My husband turned to a ho, no, I mean hose!!
ReplyDeleteCarol~ I went to Goodwill the other day and bought a few books. One was about Barbara Streisand "her life". The beginning is all about her family and their trip by boat and arriving at Ellis Island. They were on the S.S.H.H. Meir, along with 360 others, mostly Jews."Illness caused by damp and cold, poor sanitation, and spoiled food claimed several lives;the bodies were thrown overboard."
It tells how they felt at teir first look at the Statue of Liberty. Gave me chills. How lucky we all are to have been born here.
Sorry for the bad spelling! Where is Joey?
ReplyDeleteI am going to be singing Disney tunes in my sleep tonight.
ReplyDelete150!
ReplyDeleteI timed that just right.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to pop in and say hi and have a good night to you all!!
Hi hooters,
ReplyDeleteCarol are you familiar with Camp Ocawasin (not sure if it' spelled right).
That is where my cousin got married last week. Looks like a gorgeous lakeside place. They had their reception in the lodge there.
From the pictures I've seen, a good time was had by all.
Love all the words for the Disney songs! I can't stop humming Supercalifrag... haha!
We're having indian summer, it was near 90 today.
eastbay, like Elvis said "Don't be cruel" lol. We may get snow flurries tomorrow from someone in Denver! ARRG!!
ReplyDeleteVery busy night !!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Zona!!!
I absolutley positively love Disney movies.
All time favorite is Snow White.
Then comes Mary Poppins and Cinderella.
If I had the money I would go to Disneyland every day.
Note- I said Disneyland. I went there five years ago and I absolutley loved it better then DisneyWorld.
Carol, We all came to CA by car, my Mother, Father, Sister, Borther and me...no railroad. The first time I was on a train was in 1985 when my Hubby and I and two of our kids went to San Luis Obispo, CA from Sacramento. We had a great time, especially on the way back in the club car.
ReplyDeleteWhab are you watching Deal or no Deal?
ReplyDeleteThere is a big bear kinda guy as a contestant!
Mary/Mi sorry about the snow :( We have had chilly mornings but warm afternoons. It can't last much longer.
Time for me to play a couple games of Mahjong and go to bed.
ReplyDeleteI get my boobs smooshed, and my Va-JJ looked "into" tomorrow. I can't believe I have to pay the Dr. to enjoy himself lol!
