I'm Thankful for You

by Lynn D

I'm Thankful for You
Thanksgiving is a time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
It is a time for being thankful for the people around you.

It's a time for loving and caring and giving.
You are one of those people who I care about.

You are unique in your own way.
You make me feel good when I'm around you.

So,

On Thanksgiving,

I'm thankful for you.

~Adriana~

When Carol asked me to write the blog for today I had several ideas in mind. Sometimes that is my problem trying focus on one idea, and then I came across this poem and it says it all for me.

I am thankful for each and every one of you! I may not express how I feel daily but each of you is with me in my daily life.

In the last year we have celebrated and mourned together. We have witnessed many owl meetings, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries.

We have shored each other up when faced with many of life’s challenges. Whether that was illness or mourning lost loved ones. We have rejoiced in the renewal of new life together too.

We have challenged each other in our religious beliefs and political ideals and have, I think come out stronger for it. We may not always agree but we respect each other enough to agree to disagree.

So I am taking the time to give Thanks to all of you. I may not always offer a comment, because sometimes I don’t have words adequate to express how I feel, but many times I find myself living my daily life and I can almost feel your presence beside me like a ghostly hand slipped into mine, offering comfort or a knowingness that I am with you in spirit if not physically, funny how we have met here in this place and continue to come and laugh, be silly, or share thoughts and ideas. I would say we find comfort in each other.

Some of us come and go for various reasons but I have learned something about myself from each person who has landed in this nest. In many cases it has helped me define who I am and what I believe.

So on this day of Thanksgiving take a moment to ponder the special gathering of people in this nest and wish them well because they are good and wise owls with, wisdom, light, compassion and love. Bless you all.

  11. HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY LOVELY HOOTERS!

    Congrats on 1st scirish.

Great Blog Lynn, and as ususal I echo what you said.

I really am thankful for each and every one of you. I am especially thankful for JODI- who has become a real flesh and blood friend. I only wish I could sit and break bread with many others of you.

I have had some really tough times and some really great times and this blog and everyone here has been there for me.

Mr. Goldie and I are spending the day alone- family is scattered. We are delivering Meals on Wheels today, have a pork roast- did a turkey last week- (sorry MO!) in the slow cooker and we are going to just chill out and enjoy the day, walk Pepper and have wild sex on the kitchen table. JUST KIDDING (maybe)

Many blessings to all of you and I hope you are able to enjoy the day in which ever way you celebrate (or dont).

    HUGS and Happiness Hooters!

MEK LOL! I am imagining everyone with their pants undone.

Goldie Wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving by helping others. As for your private celebration with Mr. Goldie, will you take pics? LOL

I just wanted to pop in real quick before I take off, literally. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

  15. OK, now that that is over with, down to the real stuff!

    Happy Turkey Day to Everyone!

LYNN~ I read your beautiful blog with tears in my eyes.

Every word rang so very true, you wrote with such love, understanding and compassion.

I was one of many who had a very tough year, and I relied on all my Owl Sisters (& Brother) for strength during those difficult days when Laurie was so very sick. But now, Miss Laurie is looking and feeling much better!

I hope as you all gather with your loved ones, and friends, peace and harmony will be with each of you!

I am so looking forward to this year being over, starting a whole New Year with changes, new attitudes and feelings, and hopefully good health for all.

I better get going, lots to do, and Olive needs some breakfast!

Miss Laurie is sleeping away. Oh, how I wish sometimes I had her gift of innocence and carefree life. She is not aware at all of the stress of living. She just knows that her sisters and I are there for her in times of crisis, and that she will always be cared for.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had that in our lives?

Have a wonderful day each and every one of you!

    Peace and Love to All!

    Donna Jean, Laurie Elizabeth,& Olive

I love your words Lynn, as they are written from your heart and express the feelings that I think we all feel for each other. I am so very thankfull for all of you and the compassion, laughter, and love shown each day. AND of course, let's not forget the great food.

    Carol:
Giving you a warm Thanksgiving ((hug)) and a big 'Thank You' for letting me be a part of your nest. I hope your day is an extra special celebration with your family....sausage and all. Ha!

Be back tonight, but doubt if I'll have enough wing-spread to carry my over-stuffed body through the air, so I'll just losen my belt and rollll in later.

Counting my Blessings on this special day,

    Ronnie

  17. Mary- Jodi came over last weekend to visit and meet my grandbabies. She brought me a pan of still warm apple crisp. It was to die for!!
Company was all over it like locusts. None left by that night and it was a 9X13 pan full. You will really enjoy it.

J/L- no pics. If it leaked out on the internet I'm sure my children would be traumatized. LOL

  18. Popping in Mr. Lynn D and I just had a meeting of the minds. He is going to prep the bird and I have decided instead of stuffing the turkey I will do the stuffing seperate. So we have a little more time this morning before we jump into action!

I have a wonderful little address book with pictures of my M&M relatives on it. That a special owl sent me. It is going to be for blog buddies only.

Ok off to get some other chores done! Eat,drink and laugh today!

  26. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!....well except "you know who"....

I came over to see if anyone had expressed an opinion on Rosie's show last night. I am sad to say I was disappointed but I hope that maybe they can "tweak it" and do it again....or that the network picks it up as a regular show and I know it will get better.....I so wanted it to be phenomenal...

I will celebrate Thanksgiving the traditional way. Inviting all in my neighborhood to my house..have an enormous feast..then kill them and take their land!

Hubby is going to store to go buy the third box.

  35. Hello to all... and

    Happy, Happy Thanksgiving...

I am so thankful, for all of you, it has been a wonderful journey, and I have met some amazing people in this cyber place world..

    Lynnd:
When I asked you to write the Thanksgiving blog, I knew it would be terrific, you answered my plea without hesitation, and I appreciated it so. What I like most about your blog, is you made is about us, as if we are sitting next to each other, sharing our Thanksgiving meal. It is certainly my pleasure to share my Thanksgiving with all of you..

Thanks Lynnd, for making the blog today so very special.. You are one amazing owl...

    ♥♥♥

  37. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and Happy Day to my Canadian friends.

LYNND: I loved your blog today and I say "ditto" on all you said about this blog and owls. You have all been with me through some very scary things this year and I can never tell you how much I appreciate all the support from each and every one of you. I hope that I too, have been able to lend a shoulder back to each of you.

I love this nest. I enjoy "talking" with you all, being lucky enough to meet to blog buddies this year and reading each post every day. You are all a very special group. CAROL: I just want to say again, thank you for making this place for us..you are extra special!

I have been up watching the parade and now making my green beans and will get ready to go to my son and dil's soon. I always wear stretch waist pants so no change for me today! Guess that gives my secret away that I like to eat and breathe all the time! :)

I hope each person has a nice day and special time.

BTW, I did end up watching the Rosie show. I think she needs to not sing and get off the stage more when her guests are performing. I also thought Liza lost a ton of weight. I saw her two years ago and I actually thought she looked better now.

    Love to you all .....

  38. I've got ole tom in the oven and finally sitting down for a minute. We won't be eating for another 4 hours or so.

Scirish, congrats on widening your lead.

MEK, I echo LynnD, elastic waist clothes. I already have my sweats on.

Goldie, glad to see you are re-thinking the table trick. Wouldn't want either of you to get hurt.

I'm going to take a short nap before everyone gets here. Didn't sleep too well last night.

Waving a wing to all the Owls and hoping you all have a great day.

  39. Sacbarb:
Lets not forget, without you, we would not have a name for our nest, or perhaps a different one. I happen to like the name you have chosen, I think is fits us to a t...

    So, Thank You!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dianne, you and Lynn D said it all! I love the owl's nest, plain and simple, and all who frequent it. Hard to believe we're coming up on a full year, and going strong!

Carol: Happy Thanksgiving! Drink a little toast to yourself today!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am staying home today, we are having a traditional Thanksgiving with a Italian flare :O)

My Sister and nephews will be here any minute. The turkey is done and carved, so all we have to do is eat.

My cousin Timmy is in from MN, for the first time in about 5yrs, I am glad he is here, he is actually trying to move here, however since he is blind, we have to find housing for him that he can afford as he lives on his SS, he can certainly stay with my Sister, which he as been doing, but he wants his independence, and rightly so.. We have his name on several lists for housing, but it is surly hard to get him in, we are trying really hard tho...

TINA - I am SO sorry (NOT)!!! LOL
I am happy to see that I was able to enable someone else!!

We were first in line and it was TOTAL mayhem - this is why I do NOT and I repeat - DO NOT - do these darn Christmas sales..

it is NOT safe!!!!!!!!!! people running, pushing, shoving!!! CRAP..

but - I got what I needed - they opened up a half hour early since there were TONS of people standing out in the rain....... we were out of there before 6pm......

OH - and our Thanksgiving dinner was successful and I ate just enough to NOT have to unbutton my pants!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I should clarify..

    I was at MEKal's!!!

  69. Status: Tina~in_ut 's husband is going to smack MEK upside the head!!!~ 46 minutes ago.

    Here's my status!!!!!

Mek~ do you think my hubby will really kill me?

DeeDee~ You have plenty of property....leave the neighbors alone~ :)~

    ReplyDelete
  70. Evening All!

The Grandkids have left and I am exhausted!

Ok Shame on MEKals being open on Thanksgiving!

Tina hope hubby does not kill you! Are you going to wrap all of that stuff so you can open it xmas morning?

Iteach I did the early sales one year and that was enough for me!!! Utter chaos and mayhem! Never again and it was so early in the morning I could not even justify a drink. Now I say if I am supposed to have it whatever it is, It will be there.

I have also had to work quite a few of those day after Thanksgiving sales! That may explain why I am the way I am. I still get a nervous eye tic thinking about it!

Delores as long as you are in a neighbor killing mood please make a swing by my neighborhood and take out the moron across the street! He is building a huge shop and did he quit because it was Thanksgiving? NO we listened to that racket all day!

Shirley I watched part of Rosie's new show and well, it was not up to my expectations! Seemed so forced. I fell asleep.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Tina & MEK, I did NOT go to MEKals today. I didn't even know they were open...thank goodness.

I hope everyone had a good day. My day was excellent and everyone left so I can watch Dr. McDreamy in peace. All is good with the world...well, my world anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Shirley, I was disappointed in Rosie's show, but I think with a little tweaking (like better writing, LL) it could be good.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Whew... Its over....And I did not have to unzip, as I wore expandable sweats. I had not idea how much
expandable sweats can expand, they were about 2feet ahead of me...

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  74. We had a good time, and laughed quite a bit,the kind of laugh, that you almost pee your pants, but you don't, cause you are adult enough to hold it in, but here's the thing, I could not control the tears, the laughing kind, they just streamed down my face.. However I would rather have tears on my face, then pee in my pants...

    So all is good...

And, Vincent, cracks me up everytime.. :O)

    LOL....

    ReplyDelete
  75. It seems Mekal's is quite a busy place... All those crazy Tina ladies pushing and shoving...Whew... Glad I did not go...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Mek:

LynnD, GREAT BLOG! I am sorry I got on here so late. I had a super busy day (myspace pics are up!). It was filled with so much laughter and fun.I thought of everyone today. Your words put it very well, and I am so thankful for my friends in the Nest! I have enjoyed being here so much!!

Well, I haven't been mentioning my steps lately, but I have been still out there walking every day. In addition to a lot of other stuff, today I walked 10,992 steps! Phew! ..That's not easy to do after stuffing oneself with turkey & the fixins!

Thanks to all of my owl friends for being here and being who you are. You are one special group of people.

Now, off to read the comments.
