by Lois Lane
Due to a comment about a planters wart making Carol's shoes not work, I thought it would be fun to talk about home remedies. I've already mentioned in the comments at some point that my grandmother in-law, Nanny, was a wise old bird. She lived for sharing and trying home remedies.
She was the kind of lady who washed her windows with newspaper rather than paper towels. She said it prevented streaking. Although her windows looked fabulous, I still had a hard time not tearing my clothes off and running around all willy nilly. Perhaps they prevented other types of streaking.
Acne doesn't need any fancy crap like proactiv, according to Nanny. Just mix some baking soda and peroxide into a paste, slather it on your face and wait until it feels like your face is going to fall off. Then rinse add a light face moisturizer and poof. Also works on backne.
She used to polish her decorative candles with old pantyhose. It took the dust off and shined them right up. And once when her old man, Papa, spilled candle wax on the tablecloth her mother gave her 50 years earlier, which had been given to her some 40 year before that, she took a brown paper bag, laid it over the wax, and ironed the paper. It came up, saving the heirloom.
It went on and on!
Eye infection = potato
Boil = potato
Sore throat = warm salt water
Yellow teeth = baking soda as paste and peroxide as rinse
Head lice = tea tree oil
Foot odor = clothes dryer sheets in shoes
Planters wart = nail polish (five days in socks - can wash not too much, if paint comes off, reapply, peel after five days, watch the "cork" stick to the polish without pain)
Oh she was something!
My son, Lane 1 was a couple years old when she finally met him. We lived in Illinois, she in California. Upon our return, Lane 1 was scheduled to get tubes put into his ears, due to repeat infection. Nanny acted as if Mr. Lane and I were insane, "Putting that damn baby under the knife for no good reason."
Somehow, this bulldog of a woman, convinced me if I put Vick's Vapor Rub in his ear on a cotton ball at first sign of discomfort, it would drain out the fluid before it could cause an infection.
I called my sister in-law, Claudia. She is straight off the German boat and married to my brother. She knows all about this type of stuff. I really wanted her to talk me back into the surgery, instead, for the first time in ten years, she and I had a language barrier.
Oh dear!
"Why would you put that nasty in your baby's ear? That woman is crazy! There's laws about that!!"
At first, I didn't understand why she was so incredibly upset, or how that could go against any law.
"What are you supposed to do? Tell your husband to jerk off at the kid's ear canal?"
Apparently, "vicks" in German is "cum/jizz/semen/bubblin' man goo."
Whoa! I knew right away something was amiss. After explaining what Vick's is in English, we laughed our heads off. Then she calmly said, "Try it!"
So, I did. And to my surprise, and his doctor's, it worked.
Have you heard of or tried any of Nanny's treatments? Share your home remedies.
G'morning, All! Didn't expect to find a new blog yet. Just off to an early start today. Wishing everyone a great day...off to read.
ReplyDeleteToo funny, Lois! Will anyone ever un'screw' the Vicks jar again without smiling?
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was a newspaper window cleaner, too....with diluted vinegar. Sparkling windows, but kinda smelly for a while! ~~bbl~~
BONO...congrats on 1st! We used vinegar to clean windows, too.
ReplyDeleteLOIS...fun blog. I will have to think about home remedies.
Congrats on first, Bon!! What are you doing today??
ReplyDeleteLois, I'm still chuckling at your home remedies because my Mom has so many of the same! Vicks was the magic cure-all at our house. I swear I had that stuff slathered all over me most of my childhood!
And, about lice and tea tree oil, whenever there would be an outbreak of lice in the elementary school (which was every school year!) I would mix tea tree oil and water in a spray bottle and spray down the kids before they left in the morning. I sprayed their hair, clothes and backpacks! And they never had lice. Of course, they smelled a little funny ....
Good morning, Mo! I hope everything is all fixed at your house.
Congrats on first Bon'o!
ReplyDeleteLois, great blog..very funny!!! What a language difference for the word ...VICKS>...tooo funny!!
I remember my step grandfather got rid of my warts by putting a potato in the ground with a penny or some such thing. Whatever it was, a few weeks after he did it, all my warts were gone! I sure would like to know how he did it.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday. I am feeling way better today with my back.
MO!! Good to see you! I hope things are going well!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning to Sandie too.
Morning All!
ReplyDeleteLL...I'll never look at Vick's the same way again!
I know I have several home remedies passed down from my Mom and Grandmom...but the only one my fuzzy brain can think of is the Aspirin mask for clearer, tighter skin. It really does work too!
Sandie: I have never heard of Tea Tree oil.
ReplyDeleteBon...Congrats on first!
ReplyDeleteGood morning to BON & MO. I enjoyed your blog LOIS.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess I am showing my age, because I know and have used some of these remedies. A paper bag & iron on wax does work very well, as does the newspaper on windows, the baking powder on teeth, the potato. I will stop before I rewrite the whole column! Soda water or baking soda is good for lifting stains. If and when I think of more I will be back with my 2 cents.
And speaking of misunderstood communication, years ago I met the friend of a friend. When they were parting company for the day, the one friend said to the other, "my son will come and knock up Maria tomorrow". They saw the look on my face and explained that in England that means the person will come to the other persons house.
Thanks again LOIS.
I see SCIRISH, SANDIE AND BEBBI FLEW IN WHILE I WAS TYPING ....HELLO
ReplyDeleteHi Bebbi! I'm glad your back is better. You can buy tea tree oil in a health store. It's found in many shampoos now days, too. But, I think it tends to dry out your hair. It also works on pimples and lots of other things!
ReplyDeleteHi Scirish and Lani! Lani, are you feeling better?
Thanks for asking SANDIE. Way better! Yesterday I couldn't turn my neck at all. Speaking of Vicks, yes you guessed it, all over my neck and shoulders.
ReplyDeleteSANDIE...how did it go yesterday?
ReplyDeleteGood Palm Springs morning, owls!
ReplyDeleteLois: LOL@"backne"!!
Well, traveling went off like clockwork yesterday. Jim met me at LAX and we drove out without incident, although I-10 was a parking lot for 40 miles. LOTS of people heading out of the LA area for the weekend.
Waving to Bonny, 'weenie, Sandie, Bebbi (glad to hear the back is better), Schrishy, and Lani.
Also LOL at "knocking up Maria". Something Joseph didn't have to do.
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteBon got first! Way to go west coast!
Home remedies, well Lois hmmmm lets see. If you blow dry your hair everyday you will not get lice. It dries the buggers right up and the nits too.
Warm olive oil poured into the ear for ear aches.
Vinegar is good for all kinds of clean up. Including your coffee pot.
Cider vinegar is not good for heartburn. This one is a myth as you are pouring acid on top of acid. Baking soda and water will do the trick.
More will probably come to me later.
Hope everyone is doing good. I have been underweather since xmas day. I even lost my voice for two days. Feeling better today and I need to go run errands. Take care everyone!
Happy Saturday!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's 31 degrees here!! It feels SOOOOOOOOOOO good!!! We had ice on the windshield!!!
Getting ready to watch West Virginia in their bowl game.. they are minus two defensive starters - brother said it will be a LONG afternoon!!! oh well.......
i hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Bono - congrats on FIRST!!
ReplyDeleteLois - great blog - Seems like several of us have spent our lives slathered in Vicks..... it must have worked!!! Sucrets and vicks that was her cold remedy..
waving howdy to Bono, Mo, Sandie, Bebbi, Scirish, Lani, sandie, Whabby, Lynn D and all who land!!
19
ReplyDeleteOH - and life will be complete in about 10 minutes...
ReplyDeletemr. mek offered to go to McD's to get me my long awaited sausage biscuit for breakfast!!! YIPPEE
OH - he JUST walked in the door..
Happy Saturday Owls.
ReplyDeleteLois, Great blog. I cracked up at the thought of you stripping and running around wildly.
My Hubby was a glazier and we owned a glass replacement shop for 10 years. He always cleaned our windows with newspaper and vinegar.
My mother used to rinse my hair with vinegar after shampooing. As a child, I always felt like I smelled like a salad. She also used tee tree oil to get rid of dandruff.
For ear aches, my mother would use a light bulb that she somehow rigged inside an empty Morton's salt container and put it over my ear for what seemed like forever, but it made my ear feel better.
I'm sure there are more. I'll get back to that if I can think of them.
Lani, When I was in England and we were on a train the woman sitting next to me asked if I minded if she lit up a fag. I said, "can't you get arrested for that?" Then my friend told me that she was talking about a cigarette.
ReplyDeleteWaving a wing at Bon, Mo, Sandie, Bebbi, Scdirish, Lani, Bear, LynnD, MEK, and all who land later.
I am off to make stew which is mandatory whenever Todd visits. BBL

ReplyDeleteHi to BEAR, LYNN & MEK.
ReplyDeleteLYNN - glad your throat is better.
BEBBI - glad your back is better
MEK -Did you get the one with egg, cheese and sausage? That is my favorite.
BEAR -Your 40 mile backup reminded me of the time a porta potty hauler drove in front of me on hwy 35. Gee, I guess if I needed to use the potty I could have asked him to pull over.
MO, I must have missed what it was that went wrong for you. Whatever it was, I hope things are better now. (I did know about the job)
Good Morning My Dear Friends. I have a lot of blogs and comments to catch up with. It has been a very busy but happy few days.
ReplyDeleteBon'0- Congrats on first.
Lois - I loved your blog. I guess I am the same age as your nanny because all her remedies made sense to me. All my young life I watched my dad wash windows with newspapers. I think they do a great job. I would use them except your hands get so dirty and I don't like either washing windows. I would rather hire someone to do it for me.
I am a great believer in Vicks. Many a time I stopped a child from coughing through the night by smearing his chest and back with Vicks.
Vinegar is a great cleaner.
You have one smart nanny I think.
I spent hours last night setting up a new music play list only to find out you can't embed playlist.com on myspace. I must have missed a bulletin or something.
ReplyDeleteTina - Thanks for your offer to help me use a different site to put music on myspace. Whenever you have the time I will appreciate your help. I went on many pages and couldn't hear any music.

ReplyDeleteI see SACBARB & TINKA just flew in. Hello
ReplyDeleteSACBARB - I'm still laughing about the lit up fag. I have such a picture in my head. I'd love a detailed explanation for the light bulb.
Sorry for the delete. I must have clicked twice.
ReplyDeleteHi Lani and all the other owls in the nest. I will read the comments and come back later.
Moweenie, you're so sweet. The iron infusion wasn't bad at all. I just had to sit with an IV for four hours with what looked like a big bag of rust running in my vein!
ReplyDeleteI'm not running marathons yet but I do feel better today! My hubby says my color is better.
TINK, myspace doesn't allow playlist anymore, so as soon as you change something on it, it catches it and won't let you install.
ReplyDeleteSANDIE, I am so sorry I forgot to ask about your infusion. I am glad it went well. It isn't that I don't care. I think I just need SACBARB'S light bulb for my head!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the doctor said my craving for ice chewing would magically disappear but I guess I haven't absorbed all the iron yet cause I'm still chewing.
ReplyDeleteHe told me a patient of his used to go to Dunkin Donuts once a week and get a pail of dirt to eat during the week. It seems they had the best dirt and the best donuts! He said anemia changes your brain chemistry and they're not sure why but you eat things like ice, dirt, clay, and other weird stuff.
Lani, do not feel bad about that!! My gosh, we all have such busy lives I would never expect anyone to remember!
ReplyDeleteHey y'all! I loved your blog entry Lois! Thanks for sharing! I grew up with my Mom using home remedies that she learned from my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteRemember castor oil? ewwww lol
We had to drink it for some reason..don't remember why haha
I know it was also put into our ears followed by a cotton ball if we had an earache. I have vivid memories of my mom warming it up first. We also cleaned windows with white vinegar/newspaper....No streaks! lol
Congrats on 1st BONO! Thanks to all of you for the sweet comments about my bro's pic from last night..It's still on here in case anyone missed it!
Have a great day!
Hi hooters!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog LL!!! I can sure relate to the Vicks, my dad's mom swore by that stuff.
I still like it when I'm sick.
Grandma used to put it in her nostrils and who knows where else!
I had a friend in junior high (now days known as middle school) who moved to England. When he came back to visit years later, I remember him asking me if I had a fag.
I was aware of fag meaning 1 thing, so had no idea he meant CIGARETTE. I couldn't believe that's what they called cigs in England.
Supposed to go to Sacramento today, but MR. EBJs mom is sick, so we will celebrate Christmas with her another day.
Congrats on 1st today Bon!
I wanted to thank everyone for the MS messages. I have had terrible luck with that web site, getting foaded off.
I appreciate all the messages and so sorry I haven't sent them to you all myself. The intention is there!
Hope you all have a nice day today!
Lani - Thanks for the info on playlists. I wasted two hours last night and wished I had just left the snow and the Christmas songs alone. A nice movie would have been so much more fun. When did they tell us about myspace verses playlists? I missed that one.
ReplyDelete40
ReplyDeleteoh and vick's was always rubbed on our chests when we were little to help with cold
ReplyDeleteI know that smell very well haha
Sandie, I'm sorry too that I forgot to ask about your iron infusion. Glad it went well!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about it because I did not know that it could be infused the way you had it done.
Tink, I got an email last week from MS that said they were removing Playlist until something was settled, and the artists get paid.
Donna, sending good thoughts for your dad. I missed the post that told what was going on.
Lani glad your back is better.
Joey your brother is very, very handsome!
NN/LL - Luv'd your blog!! I had no idea about the finger nail polish for the warts. Duct tape works like a charm, too!! I grew up in a house that used Vicks. Every little cold, we got it slathered all over our chests, and a little right under the nose for good measure. I do the same thing for my kids...and it works!!!
ReplyDeleteBON*BON - Congrats on first!!!
Gotta run....I got invited to GOLDIE'S house for some holiday cheer!!!
I'll check in when I get back. :O)
Joey~~I think all that Castor Oil is what made you such a 'regular guy'....just sayin'
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, I tried to never admit to having an upset stomach, as Mom would be right there with a teaspoon of peppermint oil. She refused to believe it would make me MORE sick. To this day, I hate all things peppermint.
MEK~~Can either team say 'DEFENSE'? This could be a very high scoring game!
Tink~~You've got mail re: Playlist. For what it's worth, I still listen to my Playlist.com Playlists from a separate window. I added a Christmas Imeem playlist to MS for a few days, but it's just not the same, and MS Playlist BITES!! When I switched to a New Years Profile page, I just decided to stick with Playlist.com 'off-page'. Unfortunately, you can't share with others who visit your page.
EBJ and Bonnie - Thanks for answering my question about playlist. Bonnie thanks for finding Tom's letter regarding this matter and sending it to me. It surely ruined my night's sleep. I kept fiddling with it until way past midnight. You know me, I am an early to bed lady.
ReplyDeleteMEK!!! Holy crap...we had 46 degrees when I woke up today. Not often will it be warmer in WESconsin during the winter!!!
ReplyDeleteEBJ - I laughed at your fag stories. There are quite a few English words that get you in trouble here. I remember when the Statler's song "Do You Remember These"? was banned in England because of the line "with your knickers to your knees". In England knickers means underpants and they thought the song was very rude.

ReplyDeletebtw, if anyone NEEDS a home remedy for darn-near anything, LL's blog reminded me I have a Doctors Book of (2346) HOME REMEDIES by the editors of Prevention Magazine. Just pulled it from the shelf so, Carol--if you still need plantar's wart cures, I've got plenty!
ReplyDeleteSandie~~YAY for feeling better!! Got rust?? :~)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSorry again. Delete was mine. My good friend Bonnie gently stepped on me.
ReplyDeleteSandie~~Sorry, I just remembered I never answered your question from early this morning. Today we're just watching football and sending all-things-Christmas back into storage. I'm one of those crazy folks who can only handle Christmas from Thanksgiving night until 12/26 a.m.!
ReplyDeleteJodi~~WESconsin heat wave! Have fun with the Goldies. Y'all still planning a three-way this week? If so, hugs all around!
I am back with three new Elvis ornaments. I am off to play the new songs. Then a nap. See you all this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteYou would never know the economy was bad by the huge crowds buying bags and bags of Christmas things for next year. Even at half price that's a lot of money.
Whew! Congrat's MEK & IBB!! Now, don't count on me rooting for WV if they ever face NC in BASKETball. And you two better be rooting for OREGON against Oklahoma St. in the Holiday Bowl December 30. You owe me!
ReplyDeleteOK, LL/NN~~these are my two favorites:
Great facial masque = Raw egg white. Trust me, this works so well. Just slime it on. In less than a minute, it'll start drawing the skin tight just like the pricey masques. Yet, it rinses off with warm water and skin feels and looks great after!
Drain Opener = Pour baking soda down the drain, follow with a white vinegar chaser. Watch the explosion, wait several minutes, rinse with hot water. This works SO much better than the $8 a bottle toxic brand name crap. I keep the giant (Costco) zip-lock bag of soda and a gallon of cheap vinegar at the ready in the laundry cupboard, 'cause when you need it, you need it NOW!
Game over...back to the garage.
Good afternoon Owls. The stew is cooking in the crock pot, the kids are off visiting Vicki's Aunt & Uncle and I am alone with the fur baby. It is nice and quiet.
ReplyDeleteBon, I forgot to congratulate you on first today. "off to an early start" is an understatement.
MEK, How was McBreakfast?
Zona, Is your computer fixed yet???
Sandie, I'm glad your are feeling better after the rust, er iron, infusion.
I think Canton wants to go for a walk. He's going to have to wait until Sleepless in Seattle is over. BBL Have a great day everyone.
OMG - I think i had a heart attack.
ReplyDeleteGoodness!!!!!!!!!!!
I am SO excited that IBB got to see a win- this was her first ever bowl game!!!
Thank God - the defense came thru at the very end!!
bono - you can bet your lucky stars that I will NOT be cheering for OK State!!
Lani and SacBarb - My breakfast was McWonderful!!! I had the sausage biscuit (no cheese or egg - I like it plain) and a hashbrown and OJ!!! oh - and I had chocolate milk here at home!!
OH - my heart needs to settle down - CRAP - I can not believe they pulled that game out!!
waving howdy to all!!!!!!!!!!!
Jodi - it's 42 right now!!
ReplyDeleteTinka - glad you were able to get your ornaments!!
OH - my eyes will not stop watering.......... WVU - YEAH!!!
can you tell I LOVE my football!!!
Bono - thanks for the "burning couch" - i'm sure porches are being set on fire as I type this!! no couch is safe on a front porch in Morgantown!!!
NN/LL~ fabulous blog....my grandmother passed so many home remedies down to my mother....the first thing i thought of was canela tea for cramps!!! If i ever said out loud that i had cramps in front of my mother or any one of my aunts....they immediately made me canela~ (cinnamon tea) My daughter had a really bad problem with ear wax and i was told to put olive oil in her ear.....and out it all came~ We use newspaper for our windows. And when we were little and had a cold, mom would put vicks on our chest (not the German kind) and iron a dish towel and when it was warm, put it on our chest. Oh that felt so good~
ReplyDeleteBon'o~ congrats on first~
MEK.....i totally thought you said you had "lice on your windshield!" lol~
Tinka~ we'll fix your music problem...don't worry~
Hello to everyone~
I just got back from GOLDIE'S and I am slighly buzzed....and NOT from the brownies!!! Although, I am looking forward to trying the rum cake she sent home with me!! I love GOLDIE'S family....I was greeted with hugs from EVERYONE!!! Such a pleasure to see her Mom again....so freakin' cute!!! And I finally got to meet Kyle. Of course the grandkids were as cute as ever!!! Brynn was carrying around her new babydoll, and her new purse that has her "pretties" in it!!! She kept putting "lipstick" on everyone!!! And Gavin is all boy.....he really enjoyed playing with my Jacob!!
ReplyDeleteMEK - It's still 43 here!!! Don't worry....tomorrow it's only suppose to get to 30.
BON*BON - Yes!!! We're still on for Tuesday...and it looks like the weather is going to cooperate this time!!! Will definitely relay that hug!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lani, EBJ, Bon and Sacbarb! I really think I do feel lots better! The really weird thing is that my face looks tan. It's really noticeable! It looks like I have make-up on. Golly, I hope it doesn't get much darker! EBJ, remember you were telling me about the stain??? LOL
ReplyDeleteLoving all the home remedies!
Hi Everyone!! I have been at my daughter's until late last night (ended up staying an extra night). I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and you are getting a chance to relax some today.
ReplyDeleteBONO: I am like you with the Christmas decorations. I want them down right away but this year I will have to wait as my husband won't be home until Monday night and he "loves" to take them down!
K-GIRL: I sent you a MS message yesterday but wanted to say again how much I loved your blog yesterday. I am playing it again today. You sing so nice.
SANDIE: Soooo, you are getting ready to have a stain on your face? Hmmm, that doesn't sound good but I am glad you are feeling better already.
MEK: Congrats on the WVU game. Needless to say, my husband and family in VA were watching it closely. I hope your team winning streak continues tomorrow night for the Bronco/San Diego game. Maybe you should keep on the same clothes, underwear, etc., for good luck!
I had a nice Christmas Eve at my son and dil's house with all the grandkids and they were so much fun. I spent the night at my daughter and sil (as we do every Christmas) and loved watching the girls open all their gifts. We had a lot of family (about 20) over on Christmas afternoon for dinner and that is always fun. I spent the night and we went to see Four Christmas's yesterday. I thought it was a very cute movie and we all enjoyed it. I met a friend for dinner last night and now I am home until Sunday night (Bronco party at brothers). I am pooped and being home alone...I am not changing pjs today and just doing nothing.
DeeDee: I am so sorry about Dolly.
The weather here has been so nice. We have not had a flake of snow in Denver. Our mountains are getting slammed but that is good for the ski business. It is 31 today and supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. We had sun for Christmas and everyone was able to travel in and out of the airports, etc. It is surprising for us.
BBL.
LL- I love your blog, but I can't think of anything. It is driving me crazy, I must know some type of home remedy. I will probably remember at 3:00 a.m.
ReplyDeleteBonnie- I grew up in a family that puts all x-mas decorations down on Dec. 26th, however, I know have a hubby who insists they stay up until Jan. 1st.
Tina - Thanks. You are a doll to help me with my music. I sure miss it on everyone's pages. I listened to yours many times while I was wrapping presents or just sitting by the tree.
ReplyDeleteMek - I love my ornaments. I have been playing them all day.
Iteach - In our family the tree and manger stayed up until the day after the Epiphany or Little Christmas (Jan. 6). That was supposed to be the day the Wise Men came. I leave my tree and manger up until then but everything else starts coming down slowly. I do a little each day.
I had a wonderful Christmas Day with my family. My son couldn't get down with my baby on Christmas Eve but the three of them made it to Cara's for Christmas dinner. On Christmas Eve and Christmas morning I had the two oldest grand children and their parents plus my other daughter so I felt very blessed.
I had Christmas dinner at the same table as my ex. That is a first in 20 years and may be described as a Christmas miracle. No-one ever foresaw that happening. He has e-mailed and phoned several times so I think the bitterness is behind us. The kids always hoped and prayed for that. I think my mother had something to do with it.
I have a message from VIG. She wants me to say "Hi" to all of you. I think she is getting a good rest.
I will be back later.

ReplyDeleteIt's a quiet night. No-one except EBJ has been in the nest since I left. Has everyone gone to bed early or is everyone still partying. I am throwing that question out to cyberspace because I think the nest is empty. I will check back in a while. I think I will upload some Christmas pictures. That's what I should have done last night instead of fiddling with my playlist for two hours. ugh!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Tink: I think that the nest is quiet too. I have been looking for receipts. Returns, returns returns.
ReplyDeleteI have been busy finding homes for all the toys. Also, we are still in the process of switching bedrooms. We switched with Grace for various reasons and it is taking a while. I'm really enjoying our new room!
ReplyDeleteHellooooo....
ReplyDeleteBon,
You made it to First! :O)
Hi Bebbi and Iteach - I hope you all had a great Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI have finished uploading my Christmas pictures, interrupted only once to answer an e-mail from my ex, (how strange is that). Now I am off to bed. Santa gave me all nine seasons of "I Love Lucy" on DVD so that should fill up some long winter evenings when nothing is on T.V. and the nest is empty.
God bless us all. Keep us safe tonight and every night. Love, Tinka
Lois:
ReplyDeleteGreat blog... Loved all the home remedies.. I can only think of a couple...
Insect bite/sting..melt a aspirin and smear it on the bite,
Pimple...rubbing alcohol
I so wish I had something for a plantars wart.. but I got nothing..
:O)
Hi Tinka, Nite Tinka...
ReplyDeleteI will check out your pics..
:O)
Tinka:
ReplyDeleteIt seems your Christmas was grand. My SIL spent Christmas Eve here at my home, and my brother came with his new girlfriend, kinda strange at first, but all worked out find...

OMG...
ReplyDeleteI went bowling 2nite.. It has to be 15yrs since I bowled.. I went with my 2cousins and my godchild. We had so much fun. The bowling ally gal put up bumpers so we would not gutter the ball. I swear if those bumpers where not there I would have guttered many times...
Do you know the bowling allies keep automatic scores. HA! how great is that, the last time I went we had to do our own scoring. I was so nervous cause I had forgotten how to tally up the score. but when the gal told me, its automatic, I was home free..
I did have to buy a pair socks tho. as I had my uggs on, and I normally don't wear socks with them. So for $3.00 I got a pair of new socks.. I asked her if they were new and not reused..LOL
I so enjoyed myself 2nite...
My godchild is such a cutie...
These last 4days went by so quickly, I can't believe tomorrow is Sunday already..
ReplyDeleteI have another busy week coming up, and finally on Tues I go to the foot dr, I can't wait..
New Years Eve, I am going to my cousin Ar's house first, and then before midnight off to my SIL, I will have my parents and a aunt and uncle in tow, so I can't drink, cause I am driving..
I think I shall have a glass of wine tho.. maybe two...
New Years Day, I am going to my cousins house for Dinner.. Oh and my Aunt and Uncle are sleeping over, so we will prob do breakfast..
I am exhausted already
:O)
I am off to bed...
ReplyDeleteHope all had a good day!
:O)
Mek:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the win... It seems our Al Michaels is very excited...
Hope you heart settled down...
:O)
Tink/Carol~~At least the EXes in your family were invited~~Mine just showed up unannounced from out-of-state on Christmas Eve!

Hello, Night Owls!
ReplyDeleteLL/NoNewz What a fun blog today! I really cracked up about the Vicks. I'm afraid I don't have anything to add in regards to remedies.
BonO Congrats on #1!
Sandie I'm so glad you are feeling better. Did they have DVDs for you to watch while you had the infusion?
Lani Glad your neck is better.
DeeDee I gather from Dianne's post that something bad happened to Dolly. I'm very sorry.
My mom and brother are still here visiting but I will try to drop in when I can.
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams to all!
