I was feeling a little blue because it doesn't look like my son will make it down from Seattle for Christmas due to the snow. Then I saw a commercial with this song playing. This song comes from my other favorite movie, Auntie Mame, and it gave me a little hope. This is a really feel-good song, and I chose this version because it has the words and you all can sing along. I'll be listening for all those dulcet Owl tones.
69~
ReplyDeleteokay....if i stay up this late again tomorrow...someone shoot me!~
ReplyDeleteoh sacbarb~ I hope he makes it...i love that version...the muppets seem to make everything all better~
ReplyDeleteGood morning Tina!:)
ReplyDeleteSacbarb: So sorry that your son can't come home:(
Love the song!
Have a great day y'all..I'm off to do some last minute gift wrapping and work on some more baking lol
Congrats on 1st! lmao@69

ReplyDeleteCongrats on first, Tina! Wait, is 69 the new number one like 40 is the new 30?
ReplyDeleteSacbarb, that was fun--I sang along--did you hear me? Really, I did! I'm so sorry your son won't make it home for Christmas. Will he be able to come after, maybe?
Hi Joey!
Oh, Maureen! I'm so sorry things haven't been going well. Things can only get better from here, right? I hope it all gets fixed quickly. (((((hugs)))))
Last night I slept in heavy sweat pants, hooded sweatshirt (with the hood on my head), heavy socks and two blankets. I would have put gloves on if I had the nerve to get out of bed to get them. When the alarm went off this morning, Mr. Sandie started laughing--he said, "You do realize you're INSIDE, right?" LOL
Well, Chad's flight isn't cancelled, but he can't get to the airport. The shuttles are only taking people FROM the airport and cabs are NOT going TO the airport. There is a foot of snow outside his apartment.
ReplyDeleteSo at least the other two kids will be here. I'm really trying to look at this glass as half full. I just think it should be half full of wine!
Hi Tina, Joey and Sandie. Are you guys singing? I think I hear Sandie.
ReplyDeleteMo, I'm sorry about your pipe breaking. Maybe the plumber will be a cutie like the garage door guy.
haha Tina..Better late than never:)
ReplyDeleteHey Sandie! ROFLMAO@your story!! too funny....I am STILL freezing, but I know people have it much worse than we do!
Yes sacbarb, I'm belting it out haha
I sing tenor!
Yes, Joey, we have it pretty easy compared to other owls. I think if I were living where they are I would just snap apart into little pieces. I guess my body is used to the warm south.
ReplyDeleteQuiet in the nest this morning!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to do what Joey's doing--wrap presents and bake.
Have a WARM day, everyone!
**i'm still singing, sacbarb!**

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hooters and Congrats on your 69 again Tina!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHi to you Joey and Barb and Sandi (lol at your story) and of Course Tina.
Barb- so sorry Chad is stuck.
My youngest flew in last night (yeah) and now we have to wait for his brother to drive 8 hours with the babies on Friday. Keeping our fingers crossed for that to happen and no more bad weather!
MO- it can only get better (I HOPE).
Hope all you Hooters have a good day and everyone is ok. I am swamped at work- last day before vacation until Jan. 5th (HAPPY FRIGGING CHICKEN DANCE). BBL!
oops - forgot to say tha I loved the blog and I sang along too( thank goodness no one else was here to hear me!)
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteTina got first again! You people are soooooooooooo competitive! LOL
Well that was my first laugh of the morning. I did not want to get out of bed. Sacbarb I am feeling a little blue today also. I am feeling sad your son can't be with you. This weather is driving me around the bend.
I listened to your song and I guess it is just to early for me. I did not sing I was pretty hum buggy. I know shame on me.
I loved all of the Mom stories from area 51! They did make me chuckle a little. Especially MEKs Mom losing her in the store!
Kgirl I don't know what the surprise is for your Mom but I am guessing she will be over the moon. Why? Because it is from her daughter. That is how I would feel anyway.
Hey Bon Button Nose I don't want to hear you have no snow! Bah Humbug again! They are saying we might get another 3 to 7 inches at some point today. Did I mention I feel like I am about to lose it?
Mo not broken pipes! Crap I wish I lived closer I would come help you out. I am ready for the new year, how about you?
Good Morning Joey and Sandie!
Coffee I need more coffee.
Morning Goldie! Missed you while I was typing.

ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!!!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling a little "groundhog day" - I just thought i was on the WRONG day's blog!!
Tina - congrats on FIRST - 69 - again!! LOL
sacBarb - Mr. mek and I just sang along to the video.... Sorry to read that Chad won't make it - but I love your attitude - (((HUGS)))
waving howdy to Tina, Joey, Sandie, SacBarb, Goldie, Lynn d and all who land!!
It's raining in the desert - we are under "winter storm advisory" - I KNOW it won't snow - that weatherman already dashed my hopes about that last week!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Hey gang here is a Christmas Miracle in the making!
ReplyDeleteThis really made me laugh out loud. Way to go Buddy!
Tacoma, WA - December 23, 2008
TOP DOG? Cat dukes it out with coyotes, winsKevin Mccullen; Tri-City Herald Published: December 21st, 2008 10:23 AM KENNEWICK —
Buddy is the top cat in his house, and arguably the toughest feline in the Tri-Cities.
The muscular 17-pound bobtail cat, which belongs to William and Shannon Secolo, fought off coyotes inside its Kennewick home early one morning last week.
And while Buddy emerged without a scratch from the scrap, his vanquished foes left behind a trail of dung and fur as they fled into the frigid night.
"I think of Buddy as a little hero," William Secolo said Saturday. "Those coyotes were twice his size."
Buddy’s, and the Secolo’s, close encounter with coyotes occurred early Thursday after the predators entered the Canyon Lakes home through a door from the garage that had been pried open earlier by the couple’s other cat, Frank.
William Secolo, who owns Mr. Color Carpet Cleaning & Dyeing, opened his garage door Wednesday night while working on equipment and inadvertently left it slightly open when he went inside for the night.
But he said he didn’t firmly shut the door from the garage to the home’s interior, and fell asleep on his couch around 9 p.m. Sometime after that, Frank worked the door open and slipped outside, a trick he’s done before. Around 1 a.m., Secolo awoke.
"I heard this blood-curdling scream," he said.
He yelled, then heard the sound of "claws running across tiles."
Secolo got up, hustled across the foyer and stepped in one of a handful of piles of coyote feces. The door to the garage was wide open.
"There were fur balls everywhere," Secolo said. "Those coyotes didn’t stand a chance."
He never saw the coyotes, but believes more than one was involved because of the amount of dung and hair left behind.
When the couple turned on a light, they found Buddy sitting in the dining room.
"We checked him all over for bite marks and didn’t find any," William Secolo said of his orange tabby. "He didn’t even have a scratch. But he had coyote fur in his claws."
Shannon searched the home for Frank, also an orange tabby. She began to cry, fearing he’d been killed.
She opened a sliding glass door to the outside and saw Frank looking at her.
"He was outside somewhere when the coyotes came into the house. They probably smelled our cats and came in looking for them," Secolo said.
"These were pretty brazen coyotes."
Ironically, the couple acquired Frank and Buddy nearly two years ago, after their 14-year-old feline, Fred, was killed by coyotes.
The resourceful predators are not an uncommon sight in the area. Secolo said he got up in the middle of the night several years ago and spotted nearly a dozen walking down his street.
Wildlife experts warn pet owners to keep cats and dogs inside at night to prevent unwanted encounters with coyotes. Snow and frigid temperatures in the Mid-Columbia the past week also may be prompting coyotes to become more bold in looking for food.
Buddy and Frank are indoor cats, so they aren’t allowed to venture outside for long. Buddy also is playful, intelligent and strong, Secolo said. Since his standoff, he’s also been spoiled by his owners.
"He’s been getting showered a bit with attention," he said.
From last night!!
ReplyDeleteSandie - i totally understand about the "parent stories" and i know that you don't "mean anything by them".......
I could write a book about the times my mom has wandered off from me and then tells ME that I got lost!! Oh well....... I'm almost tempted to put a leash on her like a little kid!!
Life comes full circle at times!!
Morning Hooters.
ReplyDeleteCarol you have gmail!!
Mo...so sorry that the pipes are giving you crap again this year.
Goldie/JodiHO: If it was just snow I would attempt it, but the ice storm that is predicted is not something I wanna get stuck or slide around in. We will try for next week.
Good morning, Tina, MEK, Joey, SacBarb, Lynn D, Sandie, Goldie, and K-girl!
ReplyDeleteBarb, that is sad about Chad. The Seattle transportation system shouldn't leave him hanging.
Seriously, I hople he's able to make it at the last minute.
'weeenie: Hugs! What next?
Goldie: Glad your son was able to make it from SF! We had dinner with my parents last night in their new retirement complex, and my Mom was very glad to see me!
Lynn D: Of cats and coyotes! Love it!
OK, anticipating a fun Christmas party here at my sister's tonight, with lots of relatives and Caroling with my Mom at the piano!
Speaking of Caroling... hi, cpgem8!
MEK: Please shut down that rainy desert weather before Friday! Jim's going to be crossing the grapevine in California on his way to pick me up in LA... we don't want any pass closures!
ReplyDeleteWhabby I keep seeing Frank the cat sitting outside looking in and thinking "What the Hell is all the commotion about"! LOL
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are having a great time with the family!
As far as transportation here you would not believe the mess these storms have created! Seattle has only 27 plows for the whole city and they just can't keep up. The airport is a mess and had run out of deicer and the trucks bringing more in got stuck and could not get through. There are gas shortages to other areas because the tankers can't manuver the hills in the snow and ice. Bus station a mess, trains a mess and I saw reports last night that some areas that received more than 17 to 18 inches of snow, that some of the homes and businesses have roofs that are collapsing from the weight.
Our normal snowfall is 3 inches a year in Western WA. This storm brought anywhere from 6 inches to 19 inches depending on where you are. It is a mess!
I also saw that a town in Eastern WA ran out of salt for the roads and resorted to Garlic salt, Yes Garlic salt donated by a factory. The whole town according to the reporters smells of Garlic!
Another front is supposed to move through today! Those of us house bound are reporting to each other and trying to stay sane and not choke our family members! Well at least my house and my best friends are reporting this! LOL
I hope my positive attitude kicks in pretty soon or you guys will be reading about the rural woman who has gone bonkers throwing what few xmas presents she has been able to buy outside and ranting about freaking ass snow!
Ok might need a shot in my coffee this morning.
Oh LynnD, I'm sorry--I don't mean to laugh--but you are cracking me up!
ReplyDeleteI had heard about the garlic salt!
Loved the Buddy story, too!
TINA!!! lol @ 69!!
ReplyDeleteSACBARB - The video made me smile!! Maybe Chad will have a Christmas miracle and make it home!! Keeping fingers crossed!!
JOEY - I think I might be baking today also!! Amish sugar cookies, hermits and chow mein candy!
SANDIE - I'm laughing my fool head off at the pic of you in so many layers in bed!! We had a low of about 3 degrees last night and I just slept in a t-shirt and shorts!! I guess it's a good thing you're in Georgia....this winter weather is not for the faint of heart!!!
MO - If I was closer I'd pick you up for some serious stress relief....and a few adult beverages!!! Hang in there. :O)
GOLDIE - So glad your son made it in ok last night!!! Will keep fingers crossed that the rest make it ok on Friday. :O)
TURTLE - Would rather have you in one piece (and I'm sure your Mother would agree!!!). We'll plan on next week!!!
Waving a wing @ LYNN D (good grief!!), MEK, and WHABBY!!!
Good Morning Guys!!
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: Love this song! It's one of my all time favorites. I was singing along and bouncing in my chair..neither of which anyone needs to see!! I also love the movie Auntie Mame. I like the version with Rosalind Russell, but for some reason it's the Lucille Ball one that I never miss. Go figure!
Thanks for the happy, bouncy song this morning SACBARB...I'll be humming it all day long. In fact, I think I'll break into a chorus while I'm in Target today!! Film at eleven!! ;)
ZONA - I would pay big money to see that video!!! :P Good morning!!
ReplyDeleteTINA: I thought..you said...well dang it...hmmmmm...Congrats on FIRST!!
ReplyDeleteand second...

SACBARB: I'm sorry that Chad won't be able to make it. Crap. :(
JOEY: I sing alto!! LOL..
TINA: ...and SIXTH!!
MO: Sending warm AZ {{hugs}} your way! I think your post was deleted, and I just hope you are ok.
SANDIE: Are you still getting that iron treatment?? I hope everything goes smoothly and you feel 100%!!
GOLDIE: I'm glad your son made it safely to you...and will be praying for safe travels for son2!!
NO MORE BAD WEATHER!!! :)
LYNND: I'll sing and dance in Target today for you..now that thought alone should make you laugh!! :D
Jodi, you're right. I wasn't such a weenie when I lived in MD. Now 40 degrees is really cold to me.
ReplyDeleteZona, yes, I'm getting my iron infusion on Friday. I think that's where some of my freezing is coming from, actually.
But, I found out they give the infusions in oncology because chemo patients often have to have them. So, I am not going to complain because I am blessed I'm just having one for low iron.
Thanks for thinking of me! And, I would pay to see that video, too. :)
MEK: Stay warm!! We're clear here..but it's collllld. When I was a kid, and wandered away from my mom, all I had to do was stand still and wait for her to cough, (she had asthma) I could always find her!! lol
ReplyDeleteKGRL: Just a reminder...keep your tender bits warm..lol..
BEAR: Singing carols around the piano?? OMG...that sounds wonderful!!
I think the weather is supposed to clear up for the weekend! :)
JODI: I hope you get mail today! :D
I'm running really late..but I'm really going to sing and dance in Target, just for the Owls!! Everyone keep their fingers crossed that I don't slip, fall and land in a Christmas tree!!
ReplyDeleteSWAK!!! Have a great day!
Well it's quite here. Is everyone stuck in the snow or frozen?
ReplyDeleteJodi Let it snow....Let it snow.....F*&k the snow! Everybody now!

Tina congrats on 1st!...or is it 69?...well whatever it is congrats!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Joey, Mek, Sacbarb, Sandie, Goldie, Lynn D, Kahonugrl, Whabbear, Jodi, Zona and Scirish.
Great video Sacbarb! I didn't sing along though. I don't even sing Happy Birthday, I just mouth the words! Lol!
The power went off again this morning at 5 o'clock. It stayed off for a couple hours. It must have been off again because when I came home with groceries all the clock were flashing and my computer was shutdown. I hope it's on to stay now. There are still sections of the province without power. I applauded the work Nova Scotia Power did yesterday to get the power back on. If it wasn't for my CPAP machine it wouldn't bother me so much. But for me, no power means no sleep and no sleep means very very cranky.
ReplyDeleteSacbarb I hope your son makes it home.
ReplyDeleteHO-HO-HI THERE ALL!!
ReplyDeleteSacBarb~~Thanks for sharing one of the cheeriest Christmas songs ever. I'm off to Target to find Zona!
Updates on Chad? It's looking MUCH more promising for flights out of Seattle today...Good Luck!
Don't ever move a water bed from one room to another!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that it was a complete diseaster.

I have to say I am a proud Grandma!
ReplyDeleteHe fussed like crazy getting him dressed and in the car. We got there and he was all smiles for the photographer! LOL
Side note went out side a little while ago and let Seamus out with me we stepped on to the porch and a coyote was running up the middle of the road! Middle of day, they must be very hungry to be that brave!

I was a bundle of nerves by the time we got home. My son was driving safe, but others not so. I was surprised there were so many people shopping on such a miserable day! BBL

VENTING POST
ReplyDeleteI have a party going on in the apartment below me. All I hear is the thumping of the music...if you want to call it music.
Then there is some crazed idiot in a souped-up truck that keep tearing around the corner like he's in the Indy 500. If I had a shotgun I'd open my window and blow him into next week!!
END OF VENTING POST
ok, I'll turn my music down and slow my truck down lol!!
ReplyDeleteSorry that it isn't that easy!
Be strong Shirley remember, Santa is watching ;-)
SHIRLEY - So sorry you have to put up with the noise tonight. I have a couple younger customers that seriously should be deaf by now. I can be in the backroom of the store and can hear the thumping back there!!! WTF!!!
ReplyDeleteMARY/MI - lol @ turning your radio down!!! Oh, and you look lovely in your new scarf!!! It's a great color on you. :O)

ReplyDeleteJODI, Loved your ditty!
ReplyDeleteMichigan has already tippled it's snowfall for a an average Dec. month.
Shoot, we hardly ever had a white Christmas the last few years.Jewelry & furniture stores used to have contests.."your purchases free if we get more than 8" of snow by Christmas". They would have lost their asses this year lol!!
Tina~ If my memory serves, 10" used to be not half bad bwah ha ha !!
ReplyDeleteTINA - I think I have something like that under the bed!!! :P
ReplyDeleteMARY/MI - Glad you like the song....maybe you could add it to your playlist!!! lol!!
ReplyDeleteGood night HOoters!!! I best get my ass to bed.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a great night!!!
Goodnight Jodi,,,MUAH!!
ReplyDeleteI am doing the unusual for me. I am curling up in my bed and watch tv early. I still haven't completely de-stressed from the scary road trip today.
ReplyDeleteDiane, I read your status. My prayers will be with your Father during his open heart surgery tomorrow.Take care of yourself.
ROFLMAO@Tina and Shirley!!!!
ReplyDeleteTina: Well, if you're into S/M, it might be a turn-on!
Just sayin'...
Shirley: I'm glad you're not next door to my sister and brother-in-laws place. The family Christmas party was fabulous, I've had way too many glasses of wine, and we're rocking out to a very loud "Alone" by Heart!
Of course, if you like Heart, you might be delighted to be nearby!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve Hooters!
ReplyDeleteMARY/MI: The status that your read was from DONNA rather than me regarding her father. I send her positive wishes. MARY: Glad you are all tucked in and out of the snow...brr.
CAROL; FROM AREA 51---Thanks for asking and yes, my husband made it just fine to Norfolk, Va. He didn't run into any bad weather from Denver thru Wash D.C. to Norfolk. His family is so glad to see him (he has a sister, two daughters and his mom plus nephews). I talked to him last night and I think it gave him a lot of relief to see his mom for himself and now he will be able to spend some good quality time. He text me today that he was HOT...his mom keeps the heat on 80!
He comes home thru Chicago so maybe I can send him on the blog lunch with JODI, KGIRL and GOLDIE! :)
I spent the whole day shopping yesterday and I have spent the whole day today doing nothing. I still have wrapping to do and food to make (yes JUSTLIN I am cooking a couple of things). We will all go to my son's tomorrow night and then I will stay at my daughter's and she is having the Christmas dinner for family and then I will come home and veg!!!
SACBARB: I just sang the song to your fun blog. I hope you could hear over in California! I sang loud! I am sorry your son won't be able to get home for Christmas. I just hate to see bad weather any place during the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday. Has any status changed on your son? Enjoy your day with the other two kids and maybe he can re-schedule.
TINA: Don't stay up so late tonight. I don't want to have to come and shoot you (per your instructions).
ZONA: How did that video go today at Target? I am watching the news for any footage on you from the Arizona police.
I hope everyone is having a nice evening and staying warm. It is 14 here but still no snow. They thought it would snow today but nothing. I can deal with the cold..not bad roads. MEK AND ZONA: It sounds so warm there...you two could be sunning yourselves!
88
ReplyDeleteDianne - howdy !!! there isn't any sun to be 'sunnin' in'... glad your hubby made it safe!! and just for the record - Zona hasn't made it on the state and local news yet!!

I want to thank everyone who commented on my blog and I hope it cheered you up if you needed it or just made you smile

Joey, You have a good Christmas too.
ReplyDeleteSacbarb....so sorry that your son did not make it on time, but at least he is safe and maybe he can get there a lil delayed.
ReplyDeleteI had the funnest time with my niece tonite. She cracked me up!!! We drove thru 5-6 inches of snow in her SUV. When we got back to my brother's house I got to play with his black lab in the snow, no snow angels as the snow is pretty wet. Shoveled a driveway (just for old times sake) and JodiHO I'll have you know I sang your lil ditty to her and she was laughing.
I hope everyone travels safely, stays warm, and enjoys the holidays.
