I have watched “The Bucket List” over and over again for the better part of the month on HBO. I did not see it in the theater. I thought it would be too depressing. I must tell you – it is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Each time I see it, I see something that I missed before – and I have cried for different reasons each time. For those that have not seen it – I will not spoil it for you. I highly recommend it. The relationship that the main characters form – is a life lesson to be learned.
I think my favorite line is “I wish I had met you before we were dead.”
I just have some questions for each of you:
Do you have a Bucket List?
Would you care to share your Top Five things?
Would you want to know “how much time you have left”?
Have you found JOY in your life?
Has your life brought JOY to others?
I know that you all have brought joy to mine! Thank you.

69~
ReplyDeleteyikes, Mek.....I haven't seen the movie~ I will say that I've formed friendships here that I'm so very grateful for~ (how'd I do?) :D
ReplyDeletemy shoulder hurts like a mo-fo!~
ReplyDeletehas for 3 days~
ReplyDeleteI have to work earlier today so I can get off earlier today so I can catch a flight tonight! And guess what? The Mr is in the shower! Doesn't he know I'm on a schedule here? Wait...maybe he wanted me to be first...eh...69th today?~ :D
ReplyDeleteI used to think this talking to yourself was for the birds...call me crazy....but I'm enjoying it! :D
ReplyDeleteOMG Care-Whore....your ticket number story yesterday had me rolling! I shared it with my co-workers and they were just laughing and laughing~
ReplyDeleteoops....I think the Mr is done...
ReplyDeleteI'm off to shower, shampoo, and shine.....without the pearldrops~ :)~
ReplyDeletedang....I don't even remember what pearldrops are....just remember the commercial~
ReplyDeleteLOL...Good Morning Tina...Congrats on 69th thru 10th...BTW Pearl Drops were toothpaste
ReplyDeleteMEK....I haven't seen the movie either but I love that quote!
ReplyDeleteI did have a "Bucket List" but it has been substantially revised. You'd be surprised at the things that you cannot do when you can't walk very much. For instance, I do believe that the seeing the Great Wall of China is pretty much out.
I think I would want to know how much time I had left just because I like to plan for things.
I have found joy in my life, I wish there was more of it, but I'm glad I at least have some.
I hope I have brought joy...but I can't remember anyone ever actually saying that to me...However, I will continue believing so in my merry, deluded way.
Tina,
ReplyDeleteOh no way, to early for 69, I need my coffee first..
Congrats on first thru whatever (to tired to count)
Did you ever think, that maybe the Mr was waiting for you to jump in the shower with him.. just sayin!
:O)
And yes, my clients ticket that ended in 666 now ends in 992, and he is thrilled..
Keep us posted 2nite on your flight..
Happy Thursday!!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning....
Tina - congrats on First thru 10!! You did great!!!
Safe flying!! :-)
Scirish - sorry that you are not feeling well...... Great Wall of China - that would be a hike!! Thanks for playing along!!
Can't wait to read everyone's answers....
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Hey cpgem - glad your client is all happy now!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Scirishy! :O)
ReplyDeleteMek,
ReplyDeleteYou popped in as I was typing...
Hi!
Ok, Now I have to relate my tale of woe and hope someone has some experience with this stuff because I am very conflicted.
ReplyDeleteThey did find something on my spine (besides Arthritis)on my MRI but they are not sure what it is. Sooo, my records are going to be faxed to this eminent neurosurgeon to see if I am a candidate for a) surgery (huh? when you don't know what it is?) b)some kind of $1200.00 brace that will take the pressure off my spine. If that isn't possible, they want to insert wires in my spine that emit electrical impulses that will block the pain. This requires an out patient procedure. They do perform some sort of trial to see if this will help before they do the implant thing. This totally freaks me out!!! Yes, I want to get rid of the pain (it's getting worse) but electrical wires????
Mek,
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this movie, I was not sure if I would like it, but now you have me thinking, I should give it a try..
I will comment on your blog later, I have to ponder it a bit..
Thanks for writing it, and sending it off to me.. :O)
Scirish,
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of those procedures, so I can't be, of much help, but I am fairly sure someone in the nest can give you some insight. I will say this, It must be so difficult to have back problems, and the worse is not finding a cure.
I would do some research on this procedure, as you never know..
I have to start my day here..
ReplyDeleteI will see ya all later..
If anything else - about this movie - you get to listen to Morgan Freeman narrate!! His voice just AMAZING!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteanyway -
I have never written anything down for a Bucket List..
1) - I would LOVE to go to Ireland.
2) - Travel our great country and play all the wonderful golf courses - if I couldn't play them - then volunteer for all the tournaments..
3) - Spend time with my family members
4) - Have a huge scrapbook crop and use up all of my MILLIONS of supplies...
5) - just go sit in the Garden of the Gods and soak it all it.
and i'll take one more...
- meet more of my wonderful friends from the Nest and have a reunion with those that i have met
Good Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteDamn Tina~ its awful early for 69!
Great blog MEK. I have not seen the movie, but I have had a bucket list since I was little.
The top five then were:
1)Ride in a Limo
2) fly first class
3) go to Disneyland
4) get married and have children
5) be rich
I have completed 1 thru 4. Still waiting for 5 to happen.
I have found Joy in many ways. Mostly with my Husband, kids and of course my grandkids. But I have friends and a dog that give me great joy.
I think I have given joy- I hope so anyway.
Would I want to know? I really am not sure. I don't think so.
Scrishy- so sorry for your pain. I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion before I let anyone operate on my spine. BUT that said, technology is wonderful and if it improves the quality of your life- then I say go for it. Having the surgery on my legs (which I resisted for over 2 years) is the best thing I ever did.
Hope everyone has a good day today!
25 for goldie
ReplyDeletemorning glories!
ReplyDeletetyping one handed. holding joy this morning and his name is ritchie!
will be back later.
SCIRISH- you have ms mail :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the 25 MEK- you give me Joy my friend.
Good Morning OWLETTES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTina Congrats on 1st... oh I mean 69... and on to 10th...however that works..LOL...LOL..
Safe Flight!!!
Scirish.. I have a friend that just went through the trial of one of those pain management inplants... the first time they only left on for like 24 hours... so not long enough to see if it works... theuy just did again the week before Christmas... kept inthe hospital for 3 days ... to find out it doesn't hel[p.... he went tot he doctor yesterday and the doctor told him.." we done everything we can and nothing helps... go ahead and try for disability..
so it was like ... we taken all the money we can from you... so NOW you can get disability...
he was very disappointed... because disability doesn't help the pain...
Morning MEK... CArol...Goldie...LynnD...
MEK.. I havent seen the movie... but I bought right before christmas... Blockbuster had all the previously viewed movies for 1.99...
but can't bring myself to watch it...
it came out last dec.... I lost Quin in JAn... and her maiden name is the same as the title character...
I will watch it now.... thanks...
off to COSTCO....
Have a grerat day!!!!
Good Morning Tina - Wow lst and 69th in one swoop. That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Scirish, Carol, Mek, Lynn, Goldie and Ibebold.
I am thinking hard about my bucket list. I will try and come back to write it. Have a great day. Love, Tinka
Congrats on 69...errr, I mean first Tina!
ReplyDeleteMek: Great Blog!! I like that movie too.
Donna: Thanks so much for the comment last night. I was unbelievably nervous! I mean...terrified!
.....I PASSED!!!!! Yay, super wow, omg, woah...gollly geee...
I almost cried when they told me that is how sure I would fail.
I just can't believe it. Still.
Shew..okay...I know I am sounding really over dramatic, but you guys have no idea how afraid I was. I was a mess last night.
I even worried that I had a sock slipping off and that would throw off my concentration..and guess what I had when I woke up this morning..YEP...my period..sheesh.
But, I still passed. I think they guy thought I was nuts cause I brought two calculators (in case my main one failed)..you just never know..ya know? hehe..I am so ridiculously anal.
Okay..again, thanks Carol, Donna and J/L for the encouragement. Also, Shirley too. I got your message on MS> Thank you! If someone else commented and encouraged, I thank you too and didn't mean to slight you..if I did...okay..sorry..I am going on and on and on and my daughter is now home for a minute.
Take care and Carol, particularly your comments helped because it reminded me that if I didn't pass it would not be the end of the world as I know it. I would just take it again.
Tina Thanks (I think) for starting our day with a 69!
ReplyDeleteBebbi Kudos and congratulations! I knew you could do it! :)
Tinka I'm so happy to see you back in the nest.
MEK That was a great blog today. I don't have a Bucket List and I can't think of anything I am dying to do (no pun intended).
Thanks so much J/L! :)
ReplyDeletescirish: I would get another opinion before doing anything. Also, it would seem to me that they would have to be able to diagnose what exactly is on your spine before they did anything surgically, or otherwise. That is just my opinion though and it does sound very scary! You are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am heading to work. Everyone have a wonderful day!! Bye bye...ta ta for now...so long, see ya later...good morning, good afternoon and good night.
ReplyDeleteTina, congrats on 69~1-10. Does that mean you had 10 69ers? I hope you took advantage of My Tina in the shower lol!
ReplyDeleteMek, I loved the bucket list. I watched it last week end when we had free HBO. I forgot I bought it last summer. I will watch it again too.
A lot of my bucket list has been fulfilled.
1. I met some of my bloggers
2. I traveled to Europe
3.I lived to be over 60 lol!
5.I have a secure and stable marriage.
6. I retired
In other words, my cup runneth over.
I would like:
1.To see my Gr Children marry & have children
2.Travel more
3.Meet more bloggers
3.Live to the ripe old age of 100 and die in a 25 year-old's bed making wild passionate love lol!!
I am off to the big city. Mr Mary is taking me out to supper tonight to celebrate our 30th anniversary,
Have a great day everyone!!!
Happy Thursday Owls.
ReplyDeleteMEK, I loved the Bucket List movie and I will be back later to answer your questions.
I am expecting a kitchen designer in about 10 minutes. He will probably look at my kitchen and tell me that it is hopeless and that I will have to gut it. But I definitely want to do something to update it.
Have a great day everyone. BBL
MEK - Great blog and I love the movie!! I've never really thought about a list, but maybe one will come to me when I take my power nap.
ReplyDeleteSLANI - Yes, I did feel you next to me yesterday......THANK YOU!!!
TINA - Have a safe flight!! And snap the Z woman for me when you see her!! But gently, cuz word on the street is that she's still dusting!!! :P
MEK & DIANNE - I expect a full report including pics and video!!! I really tried, but it wasn't meant to be this time. (Damn powerball!!!)
MARY/MI - Happy 30th Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteMary...Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteBebbi...Congrats on your test!
IBB...Thanks for sharing what happened to your friend. All the websites I've found only have the positives. I feel bad for him though, I know how it is to get your hopes up and then...nothing
Tina...Have a wonderful trip!
SacBarb...A kitchen designer!! How fun!!!
scirish I'm so sorry you are going through so much with your back. Sometimes there is no way to know what something is until they go in and really look at it. I do agree that you should probably get a second opinion even though it is a pain in the butt to do so and it takes more time.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I had my kitchen updated a few years ago and my favorite thing about it (besides the dishwasher) is the cabinets with the lower shelves that pull out. What a blessing to not have to get down on my knees to find something in the back on a lower shelf! The older we get, the greater they are. :)
Jodi (((HUGS)))
Mary Happy Anniversary!
Ok I have both hands now.
ReplyDeleteMEK I don't have a bucket list. Never really thought about doing one.
Have I found joy? Moments of Joy and I think that is enough.
Has my life brought joy to others? I married Mr. Lynn D didn't I?
Scrishy the best advice I can give you is to check out the doctor very carefully. Does he have a good track record? I feel for you and wish I could help more. Saying prayers for you!
Mary congrats to you and Mr. Mary! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Ok off to do some laundry.
Afternoon Everyone!
ReplyDeleteMEK: I haven't seen "The Bucket List" yet, but if you like it that much..I will definately have to check it out!
Here's my Bucket List..
1. Travel anywhere I haven't been.
2. Visit the places I've all ready seen.
3. Spend a month on a beach somewhere..and not worry about anything.
4. Meet all the family I know I have..but have never seen.
5. Have someone ask me "Are you on crack??" just before I go..cuz it always makes me laugh. ;)
I wouldn't want to know how much time I had left. I would worry and then have less time.
I have found joy..in friends and in family and in my pets. Oh, I have definately known joy. If it was all going to be over tomorrow..I would be ok with it..cuz I've laughed hard, loved well and known true kindness. So I'm good to go. :)
I hope I've brought joy to others..or what is the point..really?
Great blog today, MEK..thank you!
TINA: Congrats on 102!! (see AREA 51) ;)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you don't use Pearl Drops..I could have sworn I saw your smile sparkle when the light hit it just right. In fact your eye did that too! ;)
Have a good flight!!
JODI: SWAK!! You're right, I'm still dusting! :D
ReplyDeleteBEAR: Am I done yet?? ;)
BEBBI: Congrats!!

Scirish:
ReplyDeleteBeing the proud owner of $65K worth of titanium that took a 1/4 mil to install in my back I think I can tell ya a thing or two. If you would like to talk about it over the phone please myspace me a message and I will email you back my number. If you take a peek at my pics (I think it is the ramdom pics folder) you will see two xray pics of my back.
I have known three people who have tried the electic pain impulse releiver, and all unfortunately have not had good results.
I did the brace before my surgery, but in the end opted for surgery.
Swoopin' in one more time to say..
ReplyDeleteHI KGRL!! Almost a year later and still kickin' myself!
Swoopin' out again...
JODI- are we on for tomorrow?? Call me..........
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Mary!!!

ReplyDeleteMEK - Still thinking about my list, but I have loved and have been loved, I have theeee best friends that put up with me and lift me up when I need it, and I agree with ZONA, I hope I have brought joy to people....cuz really what's the point if I haven't. I like to think that I bring a little bit of "yellow" with me most days.

ReplyDeleteYour post made me smile MEK. I loved Bucket List. I think I had more of a bucket list a few years ago than I do now. In part due to lack of enough funds.
This post is good food for thought for today.
TURTLE.....see ZONA'S comment @ 2:54. That is what I'm referring to.
ReplyDeleteTINA, you got to 69 with lightening speed...Congratulations
ReplyDeleteSCIRISH Don't give up. Hopefully you are getting closer to finding the answer.
HODI, I hope your lunch yesterday was comforting.

Zona: Thank you so much! :)
I am so excited! I am getting an almost new kitchen. We are not going to gut it, but I am re-facing all the cabinets and I am getting a new pantry. I will also get some new appliances. The cabinets are all solid wood and and are in really good condition, so it is a lot cheaper to re-face them. Plus, it doesn't take as long. Maybe I'll cook more when it is done. Nah, probably not.
ReplyDeleteHappy 30th Anniversary to Mary and the Mr.
ReplyDeleteZona, So you are giving your house one big BJ?
This is just so cool!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IS LOVE
P.S. Mary: congrats and happy anniversary to you and Mr. Mary! Check your myspace comments!:)
ReplyDeleteYour status cracked me up!
My bucket list:
ReplyDelete1. To see my kids grow into productive human beings. (There was some doubt this would happen when they were teens)
2. To see Niagara Falls.
3. To travel to Hawaii.
4. To travel to Victoria
That's all I have and all of them have happened, except #4 which Sharon and I are planning for 2010.
I think I would like to know how much time I have so I could make sure my house was clean.
I have found joy in my life and I also hope I have brought joy to others, although I have never been told that.
I, too, have found joy in this blog and in the people I have met here, in person, on the phone, and virtually, something I never imagined would happen.
aww, that was so well said sacbarb:)
ReplyDeleteHere's mine:
1. Visit Hawaii! (New York was on there, but I finally visited twice!lol)
2. See my brothers achieve major success with their music career
3. hanglide and/or skydive
4. travel more in general(especially out of this country)
4. marry the man of my dreams haha
5. see Obama serve a 2nd term
6. live in New York if only for half a year lol
7. meet some owls from this blog:)
8. Shake Obama's hand
ReplyDelete9. Hug Oprah LMAO
10. Win the lottery if only a small amount. I would share most of it anyway, because I'm such a giver hehe
ReplyDeleteOkay, I think I'm done lol
I scared everyone off with my bucket list haha
ReplyDelete30 minutes until Ugly Betty and Grey's!! WOOHOO!
86!(43..oh wait..we did HAHA)
Congrats on first, Tina!
ReplyDeleteMEK, great blog! I loved the movie, also. After Mr. Sandie and I saw it, he gave me homework--make my bucket list and we would compare. After he bugged me a few more times (hee hee), I did it. The only thing we had the same was to go to Spain. I want to go to Ireland first.
Mary and Mr. Mary, Happy 30th Anniversary!!
Scirish, I hope whatever option you choose works and you will be pain-free!!
Bebbi, big congrats on passing your test!! Is this something you're doing in addition to your current job or are you changing jobs?
Sacbarb, happy new kitchen to you!
Jodi and Goldie, have fun tomorrow! I think it's so great that you two can get together like that.
No blog buddies live near me. :( Joey, you're still in SC? Come on over to GA!!
Turtle's Bucket List~
ReplyDelete1.) A new 2009 Shell
2.) A clean white sand beach on which to retire
3.) A tortoise soul mate
4.) An endless supply of seaweed
5.) No hurricanes
Seriously tho~
1.) A Partner who makes me laugh
2.) Travel (Greece, Thailand, Scotland, Germany and Australia)
3.) Enough money to be comfortable without need
4.) The ability to be able to play music
5.) Start my own Restaurant
Would I want to know when I would die? I think I would, and I am sure I would live life with far more wild abandon than I already do as I would want to do all that I could with those that I love for all the right and wrong reasons.
Life is too short~
Hi Owls....MEK, I loved the Bucket List. I told my friend it was a comedy when it first came out, imagine our surprise.
ReplyDeleteI hope I have brought joy into peoples lives over the last 62 years and maybe even continue to do so. I think the main thing on my list would be to see my grandchildren grow up to adults and see what they do with their lives. It would be nice to be healthy up to that time also. MARY, I would like to steal numbers 1 and 4 from your second bucket list. You make me laugh and bring a lot of joy!
ZONA: Real nice...if you would "have it all be over tomorrow" you would be okay with it. Ummm, does it have to be tomorrow since I am coming to visit you tomorrow afternoon? Let's try and make it through the weekend! TINA and I will both be snapping you and on Saturday, MEK will join us. JODI, dang that powerball.
BEBBI: Congratulations on passing your test. I knew you would do fine. I just think it is harder mentally on us as we get older and not in school anymore.
SCIRISH: I hope you pick the procedure that makes you feel best. It sure sounds like KGIRL has some first hand experience. I would get on the phone asap and talk to her and your doctors.
MARY/MI: YIPEE, congrats to you and MR Mary for 30 years. Don't be looking for that 25yr old tonight. It just wouldn't be right on your anniversary.
TINA: Can't wait to see that sparkle smile and the sparkle in your one eye that ZONA is talking about..I had no idea!
I finally finished watching Mama's Boys last night. Boy, those moms were not fun (one was okay). One of the guys picked the girl he wanted for a three day cruise and it said he came home alone..early! My husband and I had quite a laugh over that show.
I guess I had better go as I have a ton of things to do and haven't done one of them yet.
Joey That was cool! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBucket List...
ReplyDeleteI have thought about this blog alot today, and the more I thought about it, I kept repeating the same thing in my head...
1. To be wed... for someone to say very simply "will you marry me" and it be for love. In my 48 yrs noone has every said that to me.
2. To be here to see my nephews have children...So I can be a happy Great Aunt, as I am a happy Aunt.
3. To be on a beach for a month with no financial worries. (zona we think alike)
Joy....
I have mounds of joy surrounding me, and as I see others around me, I am glad for the joy that I have..
I am happy to say, I share my joy with others, and love that I do..
and Mek, you bring joy to be as well, always have... ♥♥♥
Thats all I got.. I know its not much, but I actually don't need much.. just simple things, that is what makes me happy the most..

ReplyDeletecpgem - I love you!!!
ReplyDeleteBebbi - glad you got to celebrate your passing of the test!!
ReplyDeleteJust Lin - YES, you KNOW I will have a blast on Saturday!!
ReplyDeleteZona, Tina and Dianne are driving down here to meet for lunch!! I was just VERY excited to get the call that everything fell into place and that I would get to see them all again!! Like I said - it's a reunion for me......as I have met all three -
and - about the puppies..
ReplyDeleteI had gone there to check out another dog that I saw on their website.......... but - that dog - even as beautiful as he was - seriously injured that other dog in the household and I just can't take the chance of that happening to my bailey - (and this dog was trained by a police officer - it knows every command - but went nuts on the other dog) - YIKES..
SO - as the lady was trying to find another "fit" for me - these puppies and the mom came in..
they let me be in the room while they took them all out of the crates... they were (naturally) scared to death and very skittish.
i am going back tomorrow a.m. when they open - to see the litter after they have adjusted during the night - and see if anyone picks me........ I have two in site and we'll see - I took a video to share with Mr. MEK and he wants ALL of them.. LOL.....
anyway - they are boxer/shar pei mix...... 10 weeks old and already pretty good size......
If a puppy doesn't pick me - I did walk a shepard mix that was left at the dog park...... he is about a year and a half and does really good on the leash and sits and stays........
SO - do I want a puppy to train or a dog that we have NO idea of it's background -
OH - and I'm taking my bailey to meet the shepard mix.....
i'm sure that is too much info - but I'm excited.......
Bebbi - drunk blogging - and it's okay not to share..
ReplyDeleteheck, when I wrote the blog - i kept deleting my list from it - just because!!
Zona - you snuck in there while I was typing all my responses..
ReplyDeleteyou KNOW I will have the camera!!
LOL
i quit dusting - I'm meeting you guys for lunch and we won't get anywhere near mine!!!
:-)
oh - and you guys can watch the movie together!!!
ReplyDeletethat's why I said - make lots of popcorn!!!
okay - that's enough for me now!!
ReplyDelete:-)
OH -
ReplyDeleteTina - I hope you landed safely..
Dianne - safe travels tomorrow!!
I'm going to watch ER now..
