Happy New Year!

This video is Perfect, it just makes ya smile!

Its a brand new year, as the first day of this new year begins, I look forward to new hopes, new dreams, new beginnings. I will embrace this year and be grateful for what I have and for whatever comes by way.

It is said that you are not given what you can't handle, and I believe it so. And even tho at times I feel like I could not handle another issue that comes my way, I always figure it out and do what needs to be done.

So as the new year begins, I have decided to make some advance planning, which will include:

Patience, need to find more, will I, probably not!

Good Food Choices, need to eat better, will I give up the french fries and brown gravy, probably not!

Listen, need to adhere to advice more often, will I, probably not!

Control, need to let some things go, will I, probably not!

Less Spending, need to budget more, will I, probably not!

Smoking, need to stop, will I, probably not!

Exercise, need to move more, will I, probably not!

Life, need to live it to the fullest, will I, probably!

So this is my advance planning, I think I have had the same list for the past 22yrs. And I can honestly say, I never have followed by advance planning, even tho I have tried, cause you see, I am a "go with the flow" kinda girl.

2009, here I come!

:O)

I have not caught up on yesterdays posts well at lest the ones from Midnight on! LOL

  2. Happy New Year Everyone!!

CPGEM: I loved your blog today! I have all kinds of hopes and expectations for myself in 2009. I want to stop worrying so much...but I'm pretty sure I won't. I'd like to stop being so afraid of things I can't change..and just learn to accept them....don't think that will happen either. I do promise to try and fix the things about myself that need work...can't say I'll be able to accomplish it all, but maybe really, really trying counts for something. I hope so.

I hope everyone has a safe and blessed 2009...because I think everyone here deserves the best that life has to offer, and I'd love to see you all get what you hope for this year.

  3. Good Morning LYNND..sorry to hear about the bad dreams and the blues. I hope you'll feel a bit better after your coffee.

  4. CPGEM: I'm so sorry to read about your Uncle..my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today.

HART: Praying for you today too.

  5. Ok a second cup of coffee in hand.

Carol I caught up on the comments from yesterday. I am so sorry for your families loss. Sending my condolences to you all.

Donnahart I have been thinking about you and your Dad and I hope he is doing better today. (((Hugs)))

You know I rarely make resolutions. If I try it seems my brain takes over and the sabotage begins. So I won't make one for now maybe later.

We had a lovely dinner last night and we got home in time to see the ball drop in times square and then I was out like a light! LOL I never seem to make it to midnight here.

Whabby I read the article about Griffin in the paper and I think it was a story from the AP. There is also a link on huffington post. Thanks for your input. I just found both stories very strange.

I guess my biggest want for the new year is for the country to move forward and try to come together to climb out of this hole that we seem to be in right now.

Zona I can't believe you are up! LOL Happy New Year sweetie and I think you are perfect the way you are so to heck with resolutions!

  7. Good morning and happy new year!!

Carol, so sorry about your uncle... thinking of you today.

Zona, just roll with the flow baby!

Happy happy thoughts for Lynn D today!

I was fast asleep at midnight. MR. EBJ had to get up for work and told me there were lots of fireworks and guns going off during the night.

I can sleep through it but he can't.

Hi Kgirl, bet you can't wait to get back to paradise!

Today I will try to get onto MS and check out everyone's pictures and comments.

    What are everyone's plans today?

I think my big excursion will be to either Walgreens or Rite Aid, I think one of them, if not both, are open today.

    Fun!

  8. Good Morning EBJ!

    Everybody must be sleeping in!

It is windyyyyyy and rainy here today. Just going to putter around the house and cook a ham.

Everyone here is banned from showers so the propane holds to cook the ham. LOL

  9. Good morning feathered friends and a HAPPY 2009.

CAROL...great blog! I try not to make resolutions, as it sucks to fail! I will, however, try to not let life get in the way of living as it has done for the last couple of years.

ZONA...we all love you just the way you are!

LYNN D...I was at work and never heard the phone. THANK YOU. I'm glad you had a nice time out last night and got to see the ball drop! I hope your blue turns to yellow soon.

I fell asleep well before 11 last night. Woke up at 5:15 to pee-pee and back to bed.

DONNA...sending hugs and prayers your way.

  12. A SHORT LOVE STORY

A man and a woman who had never met before,

but who were both married to other people,

found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room,

they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying,.......... 'Ma'am,

I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket?

    I'm awfully cold.'

'I have a better idea,' she replied 'Just for tonight,....... let's pretend that we're married.'

'Wow!....................... That's a great idea!', he exclaimed..

'Good,' she replied. ..............'Get your own fucking blanket.'

After a moment of silence, .......................he farted.

    The End

now I need to do something about the 50 pounds I gained then and have never been able to get rid of...
NOTE TO SELF... when quitting smoking don't substitute Christmas cookies for cigarettes...

  28. Zona Good morning and congrats on being first today. You are a lovely person and if there is something you would like to change or improve on that would bring more happiness and satisfaction into your life, then I support that. :)

Mo If you decide to quit smoking, I totally support that, too. I only tried once, almost 3 years ago, and it worked! What helped me was:
Self-image: I started thinking of myself as a non-smoker for a week or two before I actually stopped smoking.
Nicotine addiction: I used a Commit type lozenge to get me through the chemical addiction part of it all.
Oral habit/ritual: Having the lozenge in my mouth in place of a cig really helped. Once I weaned myself off of those, I used regualr mints for the same reason for a while.
It would be great if you could stop BEFORE a doctor tells you you have damaged your lungs.

    Splitting post.......

    ReplyDelete
  29. Shirley: Good statistics reporting! Now... care to tackle the breakdown by number of comments? LOL!

Carol: That's too many times you've had to blog! Here's one New Year's Resolution: I will supply more blogs in 2009 than my total in 2008!

    Hartldo: We love you! Hugs!

Zona: Try, try, try! This year I HAVE to deal with my high blood pressure and probably go on meds for it. Have to lose about 15 lbs too.

Lynn D: I will have to e-mail Scott Horowitz about the rumor that the petition was started by Mike's wife. Can you send me the links to the articles?

EBJ: We're going to watch football games down here in Palm Springs, play a little tennis this afternoon, and have a few friends over to eat a country-style pork ribs and sauerkraut recipe that's simmering away in the slow cooker. In addition to the pork and sauerkraut, we add:

    12 oz of beer
    diced onions
    carrots
    1.5 cups of tomato juice
    1 diced apple

    Yum! Yum!

  30. Shirley Thank you for being our secretary/accountant. Gee, that one day I was first, I must have been up all night to do that! As for resolutions or expectations, only choose things you really have control over. I don't normally make resolutions but I bought this pedometer and, although I am not in the league of Bebbi, I am resolving to move around more than I have been for the last year. Right now I am just finding out what my normal average number of steps are in a day and my resolution is to increase that during this year.

  31. Bear! Good morning! I love just plain ribs simmered in sauerkraut but I put chunks of potatoe in it. Yummy!

Shirley you are amazing! Geez now I will have to get on the ball and write some more blogs!

You know I think I have a pedometer here somewhere maybe we can all start keeping track and push each other to move more. Hmmmm

    J/L you are never tedious!

Lani feel better soon! This crud seems to be moving across the US. Everyone I talk to has someone down with flu or a cold.

Will be back later taters need to start our ham.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey!!

Whab I'm going to copy down your saurkraut recipe and give it to my mom. Her and my dad LOVE that stuff!

I don't care for it, but the recipe sounds good!

Carol I have an idea for a blog so will try to send to you today or tomorrow.

Shirley I am AMAZED by your tallys of our blogs, firsts, etc.

I am moving up fast on the "1st" score! Not!

This past week I did get 69 about 3 times, tho.

Mo good luck on the smoking. I quit cold turkey a long time ago, it was not hard for some reason. One day I happened to see myself in the mirror and thought I looked ridiculous while taking a "drag".

Sounds pretty lame, but that was what it took for me to quit.

I had pneumonia last year, and the year before, and bronchitis about 4 years ago, so I always wonder if my years of smoking are catching up to me.

This year so far I have not had any lung problems, luckily.

I just ran over to MR. EBJ's work, they are having a pot luck today and he forgot something he was going to bring for it when he left this morning.

When I walked out my front door, I was met by about 7 "religious solicitors". I was surprised anyone is passing out literature on a holiday!?

  45. Happy January 1st, 2009....

Congratulations, Zona, on first today. 'Don't Worry, Be Happy'.
    ((hugs))

Lynn~ Awwww, I don't want you to wake up blue and have weird dreams.
Btw, I copied your funny story and promptly passed it around. Too cute.

Carol~So sorry about your Uncle, it's so difficult to lose a family member.((hugs))
I loved your blog today, it seems we have some of the same "issues". I like to think those type of things are just part of my charm. (That's the only way I can justify being this way for so many years) Ha!

Kgirl & TexAssgirl~ Stay warm and enjoy. Maybe you could even put some of that white stuff in a jar and take it home. Yeah, right!

1bb~I'm proud of you for quiting smoking. I know it must have been very difficult. Did you ever figure how much money you saved in a year by stopping. Mucho...

Shirley~Happy New Year~~Enjoyed your lists, but I feel like I am about to fail my Blogging Class 101. I think I have an overall average of a D-. Crap, there goes my Honor-Roll status. (I think I have a few conduct cuts mixed in there too) Ha!

Lani~Sorry to hear you are so sick. Like I told Birdee yesterday...smear some Vick's all over yourself and stay in bed.

TinaHo~Girlfriend, you are just too funny. Don't ever lose that sense of humor...I so enjoy your email jokes. Btw, who won the $10.00 bet?

J/L~I love your new avatar. Your expression looks like someone walked up behind you and goosed ya. Probably MEK and her tedious marching trying to get you out of her way. LOL (area 51...I'm glad Custard is willing to 'do' ya, 'cause 99.99% of the Owls don't meet the physical, and the other .02% could care less.) LOL

Bear~Dinner sounds wonderful. I'm a girl with German heritage, and that's one of my specialties.

Waving a Happy New Year Hello to: EBJ, Mo, and MEK. Actually....Happy New Year to everyone.

The only thing I will be doing this year is moving more and making healthier choices in what I eat, cuz I have my 25th HS Class Reunion this summer!! I would like to drop about 40 pounds and get back to my fighting weight!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Zona, congrats on first!

IBB: Congrats on ten years! Wow, and I did the same thing with the replacement of food for smokes. It will be nine years on June 20, 2009 for me.

Shirley: Wow, last night everyone was saying that Mek wins for most tedious. I think you win for most statistical! That is awesome! :)

J/L: You make me laugh. I love your new clothes. It makes me smile too. too funny.

Carol: loved the blog too. I try to stick with my resolutions if I make them. My only one this year is to continue to make good choices for my health.

  61. Good evening feathered friends!

I just got home from our annual New Years Day family get together. This is a fun time and it is literally 5 minutes from my house...instead of the 30 or 60 minutes I usually have to travel to other cousin's homes.

Darn, I missed the party at the Hell Hole ;)~

I hope everyone had a nice New Years day.

  62. JUST LIN..thanks for your advice about the quitting smoking. I will think about that.

  71. I hope everyone had a good New Year's Day.

Carol, I enjoyed reading your blog. I will not be making any resolutions. I used to make them every year and I never kept them for more than a minute, so I gave it up a long time ago. I will live my life the best that I can and it is what it is.

I wish for all of you, peace, health and happiness in 2009.
