Name Game

by EBJ

After sharing some interesting names on the blog recently, I thought it would be fun to share even more!

Ever meet or know someone with a funny name? Ever see an odd or bizarre street sign? How about a town or city with an unusual name?

Back in my NICU days, I took care of

Mary, Mary and Mary, triplets
Stefan and Stefon, boy twins
Peter, Paul and Mary, triplets
Symphony Lemon, baby girl
Ta'sheanaD'shanae (first name of a premie baby girl who weighed just over 1 lb...we used to say her name was longer than she was!)
Clymaxx , baby girl of a teen mom
Holden Myown, first and middle name of baby boy
Harley Davidson
D'Lingerie
LaTrina

Recently, a woman named Cleopatra came into the clinic where I work.
Near Boise, Idaho, we saw Chicken Dinner Road
There is an actual Lois Lane in the town next to where I live
In the town I grew up in, I knew a guy named Dick Soares (a police officer!)
One of my middle school teachers was Mr. Silver, he had kids named Quick and Sterling
My best friend claimed that her brother was friends with a guy named Jack Mehoff
A gal I used to carpool with had the last name of Kuntz (pronounced Coonts, but who would know that?)
I have known people with the last names of Bunn, Butz, Wiener and Cox (sounds like a law firm lol)
A gal I used to work with had the last name of Areola

OK lets hear some good stuff! And I'm sure I'll think of more too!

  2. Eunice, you are starting to worry me. LOL

    Good Morning Hooters.

I know someone who's married name is Mary Merry. I have to think of more, its too early for my brain to function without my usual quart of coffee.

    Fun blog EBJ!!

  3. Morning Glories!

Tina you got first again. Does Mr. Tina object to your sleeping with the computer?

I have to think about names as I know I have heard some doozies over the years but my brain is not engaged at all this morning.

    Hi Goldie!!!

  4. Tina, you certainly are the early bird these days!

EBJ, fun blog! I'm sometimes AMAZED (too much Bachelor) at the names people give their kids. I worked with a guy named Dick Shaker. Whenever he would call our office our secretary had the hardest time telling the boss he was on the phone.

I went to school with Candy Barr. My sister went to school with Chris Cross. A cute guy who lived down the street was named Harry Dingus.

I met one of our county policemen the other day (a young, huge guy)and he said, "My name is **** **** but everybody calls me Cornbread." LOL Only in Georgia.

    Hi Goldie! How's your ankle?

Hi LynnD! Are you feeling better?

  5. Good morning!

Congrats once again to our Tina and Eunice!

I'm still hoping to see Eunice decked out in green for St. Patrick's day. Oh and the 4-leaf clover decor in her hat!

Sandie did you hear Chris (the host of Bachelor) say something to Jason about AMAZING?

He said "your favorite word to use" or something like that!

I really like Jilian and hope she is the next Bachelorette. I also really liked Stephanie.

I had more funny names to add, but since it's early and I have not had coffee yet, I can only remember 1 right now.

A friend of mine swore she grew up with a kid named Chuck Roste.

Ugh the Octo-mom is on Good Morning America, fighting with her mom for a tv show. I can see that they are hoping for a reality show.

Loving the names already this morning! Keep 'em coming!

  6. Hi lynn and Sandie.

Thanks for asking Sandie. Sorry to report it is the same. no better, no worse. I keep icing it. Called my dr. yesterday and he told me NOT to take the Ibeprophen the other Dr. perscribed. Wants me to take 2 Aleve twice a day instead. So a full percription bottle full of 800's that I can't take. Geez.
Have to go in next week if not better. Will be a miracle if I don't end up with a hole in my gut between the aspirin, percoset and aleve!

We have a client whos last name is Outhouse. Still trying to think of others I know. Because in the recesses of my brain I know there is a lot.

  7. Oh Goldie, I'm sorry it's still giving you problems. I hope those meds aren't too hard on your tummy.

EBJ, yes I heard Chris say that to Jason and I chuckled because Chris says it all the time, too!! Maybe he's just making fun of Jason like we are! LOL

  8. ATTENTION Lamb (Biff) fans!!

My friend just called to say she and her hubby went to Atlanta last night to Christopher Moore's book signing for his new book, Fool. She said Moore was really funny and entertaining.

He has a vampire series and mentioned that if they were expecting Twilight, they shouldn't read them. He said, "My vampire books aren't written for 13 year olds." Makes me want to go read them! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  9. EB: ROFLMAO at some of those names! I can't think of any really funny ones in my personal experience, but "Jack Mehoff" takes the cake!

  10. Good Morning Tina - What an early bird you have become. Do you ever sleep?

Good Morning Goldie - Hoping today is the day the ankle heals completely. Thinking of you.

Good Morning to all the early owls, Lynn, Sandie (thanks for all the lovely messages), Whabbear, and East Bay J.

East Bay J - Fun blog! The only person I can think of right now was a teacher in Victoria by the name of Mr. Toogood. He was exactly as his name implied. He dressed to perfection and kept his classroom neater than anyone I had ever met. He spoke clearly and correctly at all times. He was in fact too good to be true. I wonder if he is still like that because it has been 30 years since I saw him last.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good Morning Owlettes!!!

    Tina...Congrats again...

Goldie... Oh no... a whole bottle of 800's .. I'll take them off your hands!!!

Seriously.. hope the ankle gets betters... and you might just want to go ahead and get that ultra sound... Peace of mind...just sayin'...

    LynnD..morning

Sandie...Back not much better but thanks for asking!! My friend came to visit and that always hurts in my back.. at least it was not last week during the non upright stages of this...

EBJ..I taped and watched the bachelor this morning before work.. I thought I would spit out breakfast when Chris said that to Jason about "his" favorite word...

    Waving a wing at Whabby!!!

O.K...I worked in medical records for a little while... we did the birth certificates... and we had some names come through there...
Heaven-Lee Angel...was one little girls name... we had a Kandi Kane.

    twins.. Antwon and Antwonette..
thats all I can think of .. oh wait a minute... the name was pronounced Page-a-may but was spelled.... are you ready for this... Pajama.thats right got her name off of a pajama package...
no kidding... waving at anyone who has landed since I started my novel...
    and we have been busy...

    have a great day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sandie my back is much better. Thank you for asking.

Goldie I hope the ankle gets better so you don't have to go back to the doc.

I have been trying to remember any weird names and all I can come up with are:

    Mr. Kok

Allan Nuttal (pronounced Nut all) went to school with this poor kid and really felt sorry for him.

Here in town we have the Ball family and The Creamers. Again everytime I see one of the Creamers my brain does a riff about all of the one liners I could use but won't. LOL

When I worked at the furniture store we had a line of furniture manufactured by a company called Hooker.

The store had 10 acres of furniture and was huge. Even with all the stock on hand we still would do special orders. One day one of the salesman was at the catalog counter with his customers and he could not find the Hooker catalog to show them a piece of furniture. He did not want to search the store to find out who had the catalog so he got on the PA system and announced "I am in deperated need of the Hooker catalog. Could the person who currently has it please return it to the catalog counter as I have customers waiting."

Well of course the whole store cracked up but the owner was not amused and the poor salesman got in trouble. What was he supposed to do?

    ReplyDelete
  13. That should have been desperate need. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hey Tinka..
You came in while I was typing...

    ReplyDelete
  15. LOL..@HOOKER catalog... if it were only that easy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I forgot to wish everyone a "Happy Pancake Day", or "Happy Shrove Tuesday" if that is what you call it. When I was a child it was the only day of the year we had pancakes and they were for dinner not breakfast. I still remember how good they tasted.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lynn - I also forgot to say how happy I am to hear your back is feeling better. I hope it continues to improve.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good Morning Ibebold - I just missed seeing you in the nest this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow!! I didn't get stepped on at 25. I am going to gather up my ingredients for "Hot Cross Buns". It's that time of year again.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tina Congrats on #1 again. Do the people at work think you're a tad overdressed?

EBJ Fun blog today! I once knew of baby twin girls named Ragina and Vagina. Let's face it, some parents are downright stupid! I know I've come across more interesting and amusing names but my mind is a blank right now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. EBJ - Fun blog!!

TINA - Congrats on 69.....and love your code name!!

TINKA - Happy Pancake Day to you, too!!! I love having "breakfast" for dinner!!!

GOLDIE - Our little town is flooded with Outhouses.....about 5 generations of them!!

JUST SLIN - I think Ragina and Vagina take the cake!!! omfh....I mean seriously, how could their parents be that stupid?!!?

SANDIE - Lol @ Cornbread. I just got done reading his book "You Suck....A Love Story", and yes, it is NOT for the 13 year old crowd!! On Thursday I'm going to buy "Bloodsucking Friends....A Love Story".

    Waving a wing @ LYNN D, WHABBY, & IBB!!!

    Nap time!!! I'll bbl. :O)

  22. Thank you for a fun blog today EBJ.
The only name I can think of at the moment is Candie Barr. She worked down the hall from me years ago. My brother compiled a list of names years ago at the ins. co. I'm not sure if I still have a copy.A happy day to everyone.

    Yes, Very very pretty EUNICE.

    ReplyDelete
  23. HI Everyone!

EBJ: Great blog today! My mom said when she was in the hospital having my brother, there was a woman who named her baby Pregnancy. When the nurse asked her why she picked that name, she said "Because I had such a nice pregnancy.." ohhhkaay..

My Aunt knew someone who named their baby Placenta. I know a Dick Cox...it's not enough to have the last name...you intentionally give the kid the first too?? Truth be told..he's turned out a little strange. ;)

Those are all I can think of..oh..one more..my grandmother's first name was Broneyslova..she hated it and changed it to Blanche. Hmmmmm...

Thanks for the fun blog today EBJ!

TINKA: How funny that Mr. Toogood..was!

IBB: I'm a dope...I couldn't figure out how a friend made your back hurt whenever they came over. Duh. :D

    ReplyDelete
  26. LYNND: I wish I could tell you what happened to me at the pharmacy a couple weeks ago. Just use your imagination!! ;)

TINKA: My mom always called today "Fausnaughts Day". LOL..making your buns! :D

J/LIN: I don't think some parents even think about what kind of misery they are saddling their children with when they name them. They just think they've been 'clever'.

    JODI: Sweet dreams...no GBBs..

LANI: Candie Barr sounds like a wonderful stripper name. lol..

    ReplyDelete
  27. DIANNE_lounging_in_Denver: Hope you are having a wonderful vacation with Mr. D!! And you know, when TINA says "You're a HO" it really does mean she loves you...right?? ;)

SACBARB: I hope that computer is almost fixed!

RONNIE: Miss you and lil' skeeterfly! :)

VIG: Hope you were able to finish your report!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  30. TINA: So comforting to see you and Eunice FIRST in the morning..getting your 69. It's kinda like God is saying all is right with the world...kwim?? ;)

SANDIE: LOL if you would have married Harry Dingus!!!

GOLDIE: Sometimes ligament injuries take time...hopefully it will be better before next week. Ask your doctor if you can take something like Maalox before you take the painkillers..it will coat your stomach a bit and protect it. My dad always took it with aspirin. I do too.

(Delete was mine..made a mistake in my original post of this comment)

  31. Hey Lani, see my post at 10:08--I went to jr. high with a girl named Candy Barr. Maybe it's the same person! After all, would more than one person really do that to their kid? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jodi, did you like the book? I may read them, too. I feel like I'm on some vampire kick. We just read The Historian for book club (about Dracula) and for the past two weeks I've been reading the Twilight series (I'm on the last one). Yikes! If I move on to Anne Rice--look out!

    ReplyDelete
  33. SANDIE - fortunately for you/unfortunately for me....you are much younger, so probably not the same person. Do you suppose they are the offspring of Nestles/Hershey CEO's? :)

P.S. I am wearing flip flops...how about you?

    ReplyDelete
  34. SLIN - If their parents really wanted to be cruel they should have named the twins Angina & Vagina!

    ReplyDelete
  35. SANDIE - The book was funny, but was really told in a "teenage" voice, but definitely with more adult content!! How are you liking the Twilight Saga? I LOVED IT!!! Has Aubrey read them, too? lol @ moving onto Anne Rice!! I've often thought of reading her books.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ZONA - No GBB'S!!! Thankfully. :O) A friend of the family's name is Richard Richardson, but he goes by Dick. We thought it was hilarious when at the age of 2 Sam asks, "where's my big Dick?"!!! Although after that we thought it was safer for the kids to refer to him as Mr. Richardson. :P

  37. left, left, left, right, left!!!

  38. LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT!!!

LYNN - I am having the same brain engagment problem today.

I am saying hello to everyone. I am very dull today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. LANI!!! Huge ((((HUGS)))) from Wisconsin. :O) :O) :O) :O)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jodi, yes, I'm enjoying the series. Now I'll see the movie--I think it comes out on DVD in late March.

Aubree is reading the first one, finally. She's not much of a reader, unfortunately, but she didn't like me talking to her friends about it when she couldn't join in -- haha!

A friend told me the Anne Rice books are good. She said the vampires are pretty erotic. :)

Lani, if you are older it's not by much, I'm sure. LOL@ the offspring of Hershey/Nestle CEO's!

Later I'm finally going to put some pics of me on myspace since people have been asking. (I'm so sure you're all just thrilled!! lol) They're rather goofy since I had to take them myself in the mirror! I felt like a teenager.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thank you HODI - (((HUGS))) -back to you. xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  44. SANDIE - Looking forward to the pics!!!

    ReplyDelete

    Ken Ifuku

    He repairs radiators...lol

Tho I have a friend named Candy Smores. I wonder if she is Candy Kane's cousin?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't know Turtle, I'm thinking she's probably related to Candy Barr. ;)

  50. Howdy Hooters!

Lani- is that like asking me if I am "one brick short of a load" or if I'm not the "sharpest tool in the shed?" LOL- Baaa haaaa haaaa
    The answer is yes ...;)

Jodi Hodi--- dinner sounds yummy, I am reheating a pork chop from last night (sorry MO).
Oh, and OUTHOUSE I was talking about is from you town.

Zona, Sandie, Lynn, and everyone who has asked or commented- Thanks for caring about my damn ankle. icing it so much I am going to get frostbite. Actually that is the only time it feels good. Hopefully it will get better soon. I miss going to Curves and my long walks.

Besides, my son called and asked me the most STUPID question. He asked if I would MIND having the babies too ourselves overnight (when they come down for 5 days in March) if they went to a hotel. (Must want to do the nasty without the baby in the room or Mom and Dad next door!) Anyway, the room includes waterpark passes, so we would take the babies there for a couple of hours and I have to put on a swimsuit. Lordy I need to get to Curves!!

I wonder if MEK saw Tiger today and peed her pants???? Hope she gives us full reports.

    ReplyDelete
  51. GOLDIE - I don't think you would EVER mind having the grandkids!!! I know how much they love their GRANDMA GOLDIE!!! Have a cocktail and you won't mind the frostbite so much....ijs!!!

ZONA - Thanks.....maybe I could borrow them from your extensive "library"!!! :P

TURTLE - I hope you didn't mess up your pretty pedi on that march to 69!! lol @ Mr. Ifuku!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. GOLDIE - I am still looking for that brick and the sharp tool. LOL

ZONA - I guess I can add feeding my critters to my ms su. Now I really am proud!

    Hi EUNICE

  53. Good evening feathered friends!

EBJ...omg! What a hilarious subject! Working for an urban hospital, I see lots of weird names. My favorite this week is a first name of...AquaNetta! Ya think her mom liked hairspray? LOL
DOn't even get me started on the little baby names...talk about labels!

I went to school with Ginger Rail!

I have a friend named Birdeeeee!

    My dentist was Dr. Payne

My mom's podiatrist was Dr. Tosey

GOLDIE...is your ankle swollen, too? When I herniated my discs, the disc was sitting on the nerve that ended at the ankle and I was sure I had a broken ankle. The pain in the ankle was excruciating...and my back had long stopped hurting. Do you recall hurting your back?

    LANI...you're never dull!

    ZONA...we are kindred spirits!

    ReplyDelete
  54. GOLDIE - Forget Curves...Use HODI'S method.....Have a
cocktail(s) then put on your bathingsuit. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks MO
    Thanks ZONA
I am having a latte, so maybe I will perk up.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey hooters!

It's been fun reading all the funny names!

I thought of another, I used to babaysit for a dentist named Dr. Moeller LOL

MO I think I had Aquanetta's cousin LaDiamond in our clinic last week!!

I had a productive day, got lots of errands done and a hair cut.

We just got a call from our tax lady and we are getting a decent return, so that is a relief.

Goldie sorry about your ankle :( I hope it feels better soon. Soft tissue damage is tricky and can take a while.

Lani, Paula is feeling good! Today she was chasing her "imaginary mouse" in the tub (she pounces around after something invisible haha!), and also was sunbathing in her favorite window.

    Thank you for asking! :)

Gotta feed MR. EBJ, I'll be back!

  64. I am watching a bit of the golf tournament. I can hear you clapping MEK.

Some of the strokes are so incredible. One of them made an eagle from many many feet away from the hole. Tiger was stuck in the sand and cactus at one point. Mickelson is no slacker. Does the actual tournament start Wednesday?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lani?.......how come that sounded pornish? :D
