Each day, just let them know...

by Zona

This week Mr. Z and I are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We have been through a lot together. There have been both good times and bad, but we held on and our love for each other is amazingly strong. We have our arguments, as every couple does. I don't think there is any way to bring two people from completely different families together and NOT have disagreements occur. It's always gonna happen, but we never go to bed mad at each other. One of us always apologizes. It's kind of a rule around here. We do have one other ritual. No, Tina, it doesn't involve porn. Every time Mr. Z leaves the house to go to work or we are going to be separated from each other for a while, we say "Love you...forever." Every single time. I once asked him, when he called me from work, if he was ever embarrassed to say this over the phone with all those people around. He said no, he wasn't, because it was too important to him to let me know how he felt just in case something happened and he didn't get home that day. On the face of it, it may seem silly, but it does have deep meaning for us. I am always sure he knows that I love him...he's always certain I know how much he loves me.

Mr. Z and I both love this song by Ne-Yo. We both believe it has an important, but simple message. Let those you love, know how much they really mean to you. Never, EVER, miss the chance to tell them "Love you...forever."

  5. Morning Glories!

Damn Tina and Eunice got first again! Congrats!

Hey she looks like me in the morning minus the curlers.

Zona I so agree Mr. Lynn D and I always say I love you when I drop him off. You never know when it will be the last time. I think it is great that you guys have this ritual.

    From Area 51:

EBJ I am so sorry Paula is having more problems! I will keep sending up prayers.

Lani your friend is in my prayers too. Bless her.

    Coffee time!

    Morning Carol!

  7. Good Morning Hooters- congrats on 1st tina~ and um, Eunice, not your best look, just saying....

Zona- I am such an idiot! I forgot your anniversary -HAPPY 25th!!

Mr. Goldie and I celebrated 25 in June and it really is a huge milestone these days.

I never, ever say goodbye to a family member without telling them that I love them. Be it my children, mother, brother, sister, etc, the last words are "I love you". Mr. Goldie and often write notes and leave them for each other if we are going to be gone when the other arrives home. He more often than I, and I save all of them.

    Good morning Carol.

  9. Zona,
Loved your blog today. I have to say I am one of those that go to bed mad, and don't really think about any sorrys before I sleep.. When my SSO pisses me off, I am done with him for a couple of days. Then he calls.. we talk.. yadda, yadda, yadda.

I admire your relationship with Mr. Zona, you guys just seem to have it figured out, ya know the way it should be.

Loved the song, I have never listened to all the words before and had never seen the vid. I also like most of Ne-Yo songs.

I am also thinking of you and your mom today, you are both in my thoughts..

    Kudos, Zona, great blog..

  11. Tina, congrats on first! Did you win the lacrosse game??? Eunice is looking a little rough this morning.

Zona, I'm so happy for you that you and Mr. Z have such a wonderful marriage. It's a blessing. I know, as I am blessed enough to have one, too. Mr. Sandie is so good to me that I just can't believe it sometimes.

Yesterday a neighbor called me to ask me a question and she was chatting on and kept getting interrupted by her son. She then said she had to go. She said, "Bye, love ya!" and then started laughing as she realized she was talking to her neighbor and not her son! I said, "Oh, I love you, too!" It was so funny.

Good morning Carol, Joey, LynnD and Goldie!

  12. Zona...you are loved and you love. And what a beautiful tribute to that love! Your words (love you forever...) and the video made me cry! How wise you are...you have reminded me that no words should be left unsaid! Thank you, Zona! Thinking of you today as you remember your Mom!

Big Canadian sized hugs for those that need a hug and good thoughts today!

From area 51...Tinka, Tina and Jodi - thanks so much for mentioning the Irish blessings and for the welcome back to the blog.

Okay, flew in for a minute and am flying back to my tree just across the Pacific River and just north of Owl manor! Be well, my Owl friends!

  13. VIG: Nice to know that, even when you're not posting, you're nearby!

Zona: You are an amazing lady, and someday it would be my pleasure to meet Randy.

It's funny about saying "I love you". Mr Whabbear and I say it to each other, but not every day... we kind of save it for "special occasions" like in a time of stress, or when I'm away on business. That kind of maximizes the impact of the phrase; gives it some meat, as it were.

My sister up in Canada says it all the time, several times a day, to me when I'm visiting. It's too much... the frequency and repetition take the power away, and I'm left with the strong impression that she's doing it to feed an emotional need in herself, rather than conveying an genuine emotional feeling about me!

Top o' the morning te yeh, Tina, Joey, Goldie, Carol, Lynn D, and Sandie.

Carol: Chuckled at your response to SSO when he angers you: Put him on the shelf! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  14. LMAO - Tina, you totally crack me up!!!

    congrats on FIRST...

Zona - you made me cry this a.m., then I see the first three comments and i am LAUGHING hysterically!!

  17. Tina - LOVE the curlers!!

    Joey - good morning.

cpgem - love you and totally understand going to bed mad - sometimes we just can't help ourselves...
    :-)

Lynn - yes, you never know!!

Goldie - we are "note leavers" also.. (and that 25 was for you)..

sandie - i LOVE your neighbor!!

VIG - safe travels - love seeing you again!!

Whabby - you can NEVER hear "I love you" enough!! stop saving it for "special occasions"!!!

Growing up - we NEVER heard those words, we were just "supposed to know"....... it's amazing what a "I love you" and a tight hug can do for a person!!!

My nephew JUST asked me Monday morning - WHY do you say you love me, kiss me and hug me SOOOOOOO much? I explained to him that I had to get them ALL in now, since I don't see him enough!! He replied, "That's okay, cuz I like it and I love you too!!"

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tina - Literally, LMAO!!!

    goodness!!!!

    ;-)

    OH - I say......

"love you more than ever, miss you even more".........

  21. Zona-my-Baby - What a beautiful blog and what a success story. You are one lucky daughter and Mr. Z is so lucky to have you too. When I think back 25 years I don't remember him asking me for your hand in marriage but he made an excellent choice without my help. Wishing you health and happiness for the next 25 years. I love you too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good Morning Tina - Congrats on first. Do you sit and wait each morning? The couple times I tried that, the blog was late and I got cold. Now I fight for #25. Mek beat me this morning by four minutes. You are a fast one too Mek.

    ReplyDelete
  23. thank you everyone for noticing Eunice. She had a little too much St. Patty's Day last night~

Sandie~ WE WON!! WE WON!! WE WON!!! :D

Zona~ did you have birthday sex? ija~ :)~

  24. Good Morning VIG my friend and neighbour. It is so nice to see you posting. I loved your Irish blessing. I especially love the line "May you be a half an hour in Heaven before the devil knows you're dead". You don't always see that line and it's my favourite. The singing group "The Irish Rovers" used to say that at the end of each show.
Come home soon. We need to DO lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  25. good morning Tink~ pure luck today....bebbi and scirish and LynnD all chose today to sleep in~ :D

  26. Good Morning Carol - Nothing about Eunice reminds me of Jan or Marcia. We must have been watching different shows.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good Morning Joey - Good luck in your new adventures.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Good Morning Lynn - I agree with you. Things can happen so quickly. I say "I love you" to all of those closest to me every time they leave me whether it is on the phone or in person.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good Morning Whabbear - I think maybe your sister means well but I think too much repetition does make one wonder about the sincerity. I think maybe she just loves you a lot and wants you to never forget it.

  37. Good morning!

Zona, beautiful blog and beautiful song. Congratulations on 25 years together, now days that is really something to be proud of!

MR. EBJ writes notes and always says I love you in them, I save them too.

We don't go to bed mad, we seldom argue and I seldom get mad at him so it isn't an issue usually.

We have been together only 4 1/2 years, tho LOL

Tina, congrats on 1st. Love Eunice's sexy hair and nightgown (?)

Thank you again to everyone who has sent good wishes for Paula, it is so appreciated. I tell MR. EBJ about all the love that is being sent for her, he is so grateful, too.

I am sorry to talk about her so much, but I want to update quickly as it is hard for me to stay on Myspace and answer each message.

She is managing pretty good, I think she is confused as to why she can't see.

MR. EBJ has moved all her "stuff" into our bedroom, and litter box in our bathroom, and he carried her around to each place so she could familiarize herself where her food and water are, etc.

She seems to be doing ok, I even got her to purr this morning, which she hasn't done since Friday.

She is taking something called Norvasc which is for her high blood pressure.

We are hoping to get a consult appt. with an veterinary ophthalmologist next week. I should find out about that today.

OH crap, the realtor just now called to tell me that my mother in law didn't get the house she put an offer on yesterday.

    Back to square 1!

Hope everyone has a nice day today!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tina OMG! Good job getting Eunice up and out of bed in time to get #1! Love the cig hanging out of her mouth! On the 23rd, it will be 3 years since I stopped smoking. :)

Zona Wonderful blog today! I also tell my loved ones that I love them every time we part or at the end of phone calls. You just never know if you will have a another chance.

I have to run. Getting my hair cut and gray roots dyed. I don't want to know that I'm old. LOL

  39. Good Morning East Bay J, (Sending hugs to Paula), Ibebold, and Just_Lin.

I just finished stage one of my Hot Cross Buns and now I need to put ice on my back. "This old grey mare just aint what she used to be." See you later.

  40. I am leaving it open to see who jumps in first. I am betting on Tina.

  41. ZONA!!! Luv this video, and I love you, too!!! You and MR. ZONA really "get it"!!! I came from a family that always said "I love you", but my hubby did not. They were just supposed to remember, and if it changed they would let you know. I am so proud of my hubby, he not only verbalizes his love for me, but also our children. Congrats on 25 years!!!

Waving a wing @ everyone!!! Still have a sickly child @ home, so I must get off the computer.

    p.s. ZONA - gentle ((((HUGS)))) 4 U today.....luv u.....mean it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Good Afternoon!

I have to admit I was nervous about this blog..it's really the first really personal one I've ever written. I'm so glad you liked it and the video. Thank you for all your kind words and for the happy anniversary wishes!

TINA: GOOF! OMG...first I see Eunice then I see your third comment...then the fourth..thanks for making me laugh this morning..and smile.

Oh..and congrats on FIRST HI!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. JOEY: Thank you!

LYNND: It's funny, when our friends and family are visiting, and Mr. Z leaves to go to work or calls from work..they all wait for us to say "I love you...forever". Sometimes they say it with us!! ;)

GOLDIE: I have two boxes full of notes too. We've been writing them since we started dating. In fact, we plan to get them out this weekend and read them. I can't wait to see what some of them said!

    ReplyDelete
  44. CPGEM: Ok..confession time. This morning Mr. Z and I had a spat over the fact that he has to work another Saturday. I went to bed...mad. He came in and said "You know this is what your blog is about..." DANG! Busted!! We made up...

    TINA: :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. ZONA - Making up is the best part!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. SANDIE: It is a blessing..and a lot of work!!! ;)

VIG/AUNTIE NORT!!: I am so glad to see you posting! I missed you! Look at all the exclamation points!!! :)

BEAR: I would love you to meet him too! I really think your sister means it every time she says it..some of us sensitive types are just so emotional. Expression is vital.

MEK: I know she is too..and I love her for it. :D

I'm so glad you were able to send time with your nephew and give him such sweet hugs and kisses!

    ReplyDelete
  47. TINKA: Mr. Z and I both love you. He couldn't have a better MIL!! :)

EUNICE: You remind me of one of my aunts..actually a couple of them...jus' sayin'..

IBB: I once said it to the neighbor..awkward... ;)

EBJ: You and your hubby sure sound romantic!!

We had to give Rem Norvasc. I think when he lost his sight, he became stressed and that's why his BP went up. Once Paula adjusts, she should do much better.

    J/LIN: You aren't. Remember..it's a state of mind! I'm really 16. ;)

JODI: Mr. Z's father was the same way..he never really told his children how he felt..they were just supposed to know. I finally convinced my hubby to hug his dad and tell him he loved him. I think it was just the generation our folks were raised in..and their background. Some were reserved, some were open. You know, I hope, that I love ya too! SWAK!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. TINA: Thank you so much for reading and editing my blogs...I hope you know how much I appreciate it. And thanks for finding this video! I looked forever with no luck. SWAK :D

CPGEM, VIG, JODI: Thank you so much for thinking of my mom today.

Off to wake up Mr. Z!! I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the day!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I see East Bay J jumped in and knocked you off course Tina. Sorry but it was fair game. Maybe if you fixed your hair it might have helped. What do you think?

Zona - Love you and R. too.

Must put my buns in the oven. They look pretty good. I will send some over to the nest.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, Zona Happy Anniversary to you and the Mr.!

TINA...Oh my gosh. How did Eunice get her afro wrapped around those big curlers?????? It looks like she bleached her stache, too!!

My family always tell each other we love each other. Even the little ones say to each other and us old foggies, too!

EBJ...sorry your MIL didn't get the house. It's a buyers market, so I am sure she will find something soon.

MEK...your nephew has some sweet AUnts!

    SHIRLEY...thinking about you today.

Hope I can stay awake for AI. I am so tired today. I was up too darn late yapping on the phone ;)~ LOL!

We always tell each other "I love you" in my family too. It is so important.

  58. Hello owlettes and bears alike. I've been swooping in just to keep up, but I still feel a little discombobulated.

EBJ; I'm sorry to hear about Paula. If you get her blood pressure down will she be able to see? My heart and thoughts are with you, Mr. EBJ and of course, Paula.

Tina; Are you letting Eunice leave the house with those curlers?

Can someone educate me on what SSO stands for? I know it as Single Sign On, but that doesn't make sense here. Please?

  82. Okay, been sitting here for an hour now in tears thinking of Natasha Richardson's sons, Liam, the Redgraves...and how their story further validates the truth and beauty of Zona's blog today. I haven't been here much lately for a lot o' reasons, but just have to say....love you.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thank you for that education, owlettes. This week I've learned what corned beef is (nope, never had it), all about some yankee doodle named Phelps, some new acronyms and that love can be forever.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Bon'o

I have not been around much either....I just jump in when the feeling hits me.

I too am saddened by a great loss of talent, two boys who will never hear their mother say I love you again, and a Husband who will grieve more so than he ever did on film.
It just goes to show, that you can never say I love you (143, Ditto,
    <3 u, ILY ) enough~

    xoxo to all of you~

  121. Good evening everyone. I got home around nine but was on the phone
We met with one of mum's doctors today and the outlook is not good. The dr told us to make Easter special cause she couldn't say if mum would be here for Xmas. The cancer has gone into the eye socket and the bone on one side looks like a bee hive with lots of holes in it. We are looking into pallitive care and going to try and make her as comfortable and happy as possible. I am doing ok. I saw mum today for the first time in three month. The change is shocking and her eye...well I don't know how an eye can swell up that much. It is the tumor I guess. It's a lot to process, but I'm ok. Thanks for all the concern. I am sure I will need you all in the weeks and months to come. I was recently put on anti depressants and I have to go back to the doctor tomorrow. I think I will ask for an increase in the dossage. I am sure I will need them. I am off to bed now. Good night.((HUGS))
