After Slumdog Millionaire won the Oscar for Best Picture, I thought I'd check it out. I loved it. Jai Ho, loosely translated, 'May Victory be Yours', is played at the end during the credits and there is a big dance number, Bollywood style. The original song was recorded in Hindi with some Spanish intermixed and the Pussycat Dolls recorded this English version. Jai Ho won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
The movie is about love, hope, and destiny. It will make you laugh and cry and even gasp in some parts. I was lucky enough to see it again when the Mr. came home Friday night and announced that he wanted to go see it. I wasn't about to argue with the man. Even though I knew how it was going to end, I still cried. Thank goodness for the song at the end. It's upbeat tempo fits the ending of the movie and listening to it makes me smile......and wiggle just a little~

ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Scirish!! :)
ReplyDeleteI missed!!!! Must have been that second letter!!!! Congrats on first Bebbi!
ReplyDeleteThanks Scirish!
ReplyDeleteOff to read and get cawfee.
ReplyDeleteI have got to so and see that movie! Great Video!! Wow!
ReplyDeleteGreat Video Tina!
ReplyDeleteOff to get my Slimfast.
ReplyDeleteGood morning BEBBI and SCIRISH
ReplyDeleteTina...Great video! I wanted to see the movie too, but I'm not sure I want to now. I hate tearjerkers as I'm waayy too easy!!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Mo!!! How's your weather? It's starting to feel like Spring here...Achoo!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Mo!
ReplyDeleteBebbi....Did you go back to bed after you slid in there for first???
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteBebbi is first again! Congrats!
Tina I have not seen Slumdog yet. I did see them perform the song at the Oscars and thought how fun. It is on my list for future viewing.
Mo I read your post from yesterday. I agree with Carol I hope that the person who took the money returns it. If not then I hope they desperately needed that money themselves.
Carol loved the necklace video! LOL I love listening to you.
Morning Scrishy!
I am barely awake and need my coffee. It was a busy day yesterday.
PS it is freaking snowing here this morning!
ReplyDeleteScirish: Oh no, just printing out mystery shops and getting organized for the day.
ReplyDeleteMo: I hope that they get caught too. I hate that sort of thing. Definitely the worst part is the not knowing who you are working with that would do such a thing! Oh, I hate integrity and honesty issues!!
Bebbi~There you are! I wanted to ask about the Elliptical machine you mentioned in Area 51....How does one use it?? I've heard so much about them and am on a quest for some sort of exercise I can do.
ReplyDeleteMo! I hope they find that money and FAST!!! Something like that happened in the company I worked for years ago and the rumors ran rampant. Of course, that made everyone feel very weird, not at all good for morale.
ReplyDeleteHi Scirish: I don't know how to explain it very well. It is a machine that is low impact on your knees and joints. It kind of reminds me of the old gliding ski machines. But it has more of a bicycle motion. You just stand and it does a somewhat bicycle type motion. Some of them have arm things that move back and forth like ski poles. I do know that when I use it, I can feel it. My daughter does 30 minutes on them but so far the most I have done is 15.
ReplyDelete*From Area 51*
ReplyDeleteSandie...I have read three of Rick Bragg's books. His style of writing is rather different..How do you like the book?
Bebbi....Thanks! Doesn't sound like I could do it tho....For some reason, I thought it was more like stretching with the help of a machine.
ReplyDeleteOhhh a little coffee and some of the cobwebs are moving out of my brain.
ReplyDeleteScrishy thanks for the reminder. Sandie I read Rick Braggs book "All over but the Shouting" last year. I found it to be a haunting and truthful story. I thought about that book for months after I read it. I think it spoke to me having been raised in a very dysfunctional enviroment. It was a good read but very thought provoking.
Be back in a bit.
Lynndeeeee....If you like that one, try "Ava's Man". It is equally gripping.
ReplyDeleteTesting new avatar....Care to join me for a drink???
ReplyDeleteBleh...can't see it very well...
ReplyDeleteHow about this one?
ReplyDelete30!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeletecongrats on 1st Bebbi, good morning Lynn and Scrishy
I haven't seen Slumdog Millionare yet either, just saw MILK. Looking forward to seeing it though.
MO- I hope they catch the bastard and hang him for the yard arm! Nothing lower than stealing from Charity in my book.
Going to be a gorgeous day in S.WI today. In the 50's!
Hope everyone has a great day.
Hi Everyone...
ReplyDeleteI did not read the comments, as I am in a rush.. off to the baby shower..

I will be with my parents all day..
Yes, my dad is coming to the baby shower..
Oy vey..

Congrats on first, Bebbi! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks for the video/song this morning! I'm getting ready to go to the gym and it got me all pumped up! (I'm lying--I'm not pumped at all to go to the gym this morning.)
Lynn and Scirish, yes, I am liking the book even though it's rather sad. I think I will read Ava's Man after this one.
Okay, off to the gym with my hubby. He is promising me a Starbucks cawfee if I get moving!!
Scrishy I will check it out.
ReplyDeleteMorning Goldie, Sandie and Carol!
Carol I am grinning just imagining your Dad at the baby shower!
Carol...We just had a Jack and Jill baby shower last weekend where one of the games was to suck a plastic baby out of an orange juice ice cube. I got a real chuckle out of imagining your Dad doing that!!!!
ReplyDeleteScrishy I am wondering if he will get the little poopy baby diaper pinned to him.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Bebbi - Congrats on being first. Scirish you checked in at the same time. I think that's a tie. Where is the rule book Shirley?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Maureen, Lynn, Goldie and Sandie and Carol.
I loved that video Tina. I must buy the DVD when it comes out.
Today is my grandaughter's birthday. She is now 11. Where did those years go? We are having a birthday dinner with the whole family at Vista 21. It is at the top of the highest building in Victoria. I know she will be thrilled. I must go wrap her present. See you all later. Have a great day.
Hi Happy Owl Land People!
ReplyDeletePhew...I am exhausted! 9,590 steps and 15 minutes on the elliptical again..woah.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
Tink: Happy Grand-daughter's birthday!
ReplyDeleteScirish: I understand about not being able to do it. I couldn't for a long time.
I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire yet either.
Good Morning Everyone!
ReplyDeleteTINA: OMG..I love this song! I can't believe I've never heard it! I like the Pussycat Dolls anyway, and this is just killer. I'm going right over to MS and put it on my player. TINA, is it on yours? ;)
I wasn't really that excited about seeing 'Slumdog Millionaire', but after watching this clip...I can't wait!
Great blog TINA...thank you!
BEBBI: Congrats on FIRST! I told the Mr. that I want an elliptical..ASAP!

ReplyDeleteBebbi Congrats on #1. So glad everything went well for your party yesterday.
ReplyDeleteTina What a great upbeat vid and song! I need it today to get me motivated.
I couldn't get to sleep until about 4:30 and slept until noon! Then I turn on the computer and the mouse won't work. Fortunately, I had a backup. This day is not going well so far. :(
Tinka there is no rule book. Whoever offers me the best bribe wins.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon/evening everyone.
I enjoyed the video Tina...thanks. Haven't seen the movie yet.
Hi Shirley! I hope you are having a nice, relaxing Sunday. I'll be keeping your mum in my thoughts. I hope everything goes well tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I haven't eaten anything today. I need to go make a sandwich or something. BBL
Tina, I loved the video. You have peaked my interest, now I have to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to read more about the India way of life and about the cast systems there, you should read "A Fine Line"by Rohinton Mistry. It was on Oprah's book club. It is about 2 men and a gal living in the deepest poverty. It was based on a true story.
I have it on paperback. I will send it to anyone interested. They can keep it or pass it on.
Scirish. I have the elliptical, recumbent bike, treadmill and the leg swingy thingy lol! I like the elliptical because it is low impact. It takes a while to build up to 20 minutes, but it is good leg and hip strengthening. I keep them in my basement with my spare karaoke machine. I sing and work out.
I watched this movie two weeks ago and I saw right away why it won an Oscar. I also enjoyed the music at the end too.
ReplyDeleteBig Brothers Big Sisters Party!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you, Bebbi!
ReplyDeleteJ/L: Thanks. I am sorry you are having a bad day. Glad to hear you had a back up mouse. Computer problems are never fun.
ReplyDeleteBEBBI: Very cool!
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: Are you feeling better? I hope you have an easier time sleeping tonight. :)
HI ITEACH! HI SHIRLEY!
MARY: Leg swingy thingy sounds interesting!
Hey, Hooters! Just swooping in to say hi! Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!
ReplyDeleteZona I seem to do okay until I have to lay down to sleep. :(
ReplyDeleteJust flying through to say night night to all of the owls.
ReplyDeleteI am hitting the sack as I think I am getting sick again! arrrrgh! I am sure it is this weird wacky weather we are having. Snow today, then hail, then rain, some sun and the wind is whipping right now!
See you all in the morning.
Just got home from a lovely birthday party and I am heading to bed. It's going to be Slim Fast for me for a few days.
ReplyDeleteGood Night everyone. See you tomorrow.
