~ Jai Ho ~

After Slumdog Millionaire won the Oscar for Best Picture, I thought I'd check it out. I loved it. Jai Ho, loosely translated, 'May Victory be Yours', is played at the end during the credits and there is a big dance number, Bollywood style. The original song was recorded in Hindi with some Spanish intermixed and the Pussycat Dolls recorded this English version. Jai Ho won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The movie is about love, hope, and destiny. It will make you laugh and cry and even gasp in some parts. I was lucky enough to see it again when the Mr. came home Friday night and announced that he wanted to go see it. I wasn't about to argue with the man. Even though I knew how it was going to end, I still cried. Thank goodness for the song at the end. It's upbeat tempo fits the ending of the movie and listening to it makes me smile......and wiggle just a little~

  7. Morning Glories!

    Bebbi is first again! Congrats!

Tina I have not seen Slumdog yet. I did see them perform the song at the Oscars and thought how fun. It is on my list for future viewing.

Mo I read your post from yesterday. I agree with Carol I hope that the person who took the money returns it. If not then I hope they desperately needed that money themselves.

Carol loved the necklace video! LOL I love listening to you.

    Morning Scrishy!

I am barely awake and need my coffee. It was a busy day yesterday.

  8. PS it is freaking snowing here this morning!

  9. Scirish: Oh no, just printing out mystery shops and getting organized for the day.

Mo: I hope that they get caught too. I hate that sort of thing. Definitely the worst part is the not knowing who you are working with that would do such a thing! Oh, I hate integrity and honesty issues!!

  10. Bebbi~There you are! I wanted to ask about the Elliptical machine you mentioned in Area 51....How does one use it?? I've heard so much about them and am on a quest for some sort of exercise I can do.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mo! I hope they find that money and FAST!!! Something like that happened in the company I worked for years ago and the rumors ran rampant. Of course, that made everyone feel very weird, not at all good for morale.

  12. Hi Scirish: I don't know how to explain it very well. It is a machine that is low impact on your knees and joints. It kind of reminds me of the old gliding ski machines. But it has more of a bicycle motion. You just stand and it does a somewhat bicycle type motion. Some of them have arm things that move back and forth like ski poles. I do know that when I use it, I can feel it. My daughter does 30 minutes on them but so far the most I have done is 15.

  13. *From Area 51*

Sandie...I have read three of Rick Bragg's books. His style of writing is rather different..How do you like the book?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Bebbi....Thanks! Doesn't sound like I could do it tho....For some reason, I thought it was more like stretching with the help of a machine.

  15. Ohhh a little coffee and some of the cobwebs are moving out of my brain.

Scrishy thanks for the reminder. Sandie I read Rick Braggs book "All over but the Shouting" last year. I found it to be a haunting and truthful story. I thought about that book for months after I read it. I think it spoke to me having been raised in a very dysfunctional enviroment. It was a good read but very thought provoking.

    Be back in a bit.

  16. Lynndeeeee....If you like that one, try "Ava's Man". It is equally gripping.

Tina, thanks for the video/song this morning! I'm getting ready to go to the gym and it got me all pumped up! (I'm lying--I'm not pumped at all to go to the gym this morning.)

Lynn and Scirish, yes, I am liking the book even though it's rather sad. I think I will read Ava's Man after this one.

  23. Carol...We just had a Jack and Jill baby shower last weekend where one of the games was to suck a plastic baby out of an orange juice ice cube. I got a real chuckle out of imagining your Dad doing that!!!!

  24. Scrishy I am wondering if he will get the little poopy baby diaper pinned to him.

Good Morning Maureen, Lynn, Goldie and Sandie and Carol.
I loved that video Tina. I must buy the DVD when it comes out.

Today is my grandaughter's birthday. She is now 11. Where did those years go? We are having a birthday dinner with the whole family at Vista 21. It is at the top of the highest building in Victoria. I know she will be thrilled. I must go wrap her present. See you all later. Have a great day.

  41. Bebbi Congrats on #1. So glad everything went well for your party yesterday.

Tina What a great upbeat vid and song! I need it today to get me motivated.

I couldn't get to sleep until about 4:30 and slept until noon! Then I turn on the computer and the mouse won't work. Fortunately, I had a backup. This day is not going well so far. :(

  42. Tinka there is no rule book. Whoever offers me the best bribe wins.

  44. Tina, I loved the video. You have peaked my interest, now I have to see the movie.
If anyone wants to read more about the India way of life and about the cast systems there, you should read "A Fine Line"by Rohinton Mistry. It was on Oprah's book club. It is about 2 men and a gal living in the deepest poverty. It was based on a true story.
I have it on paperback. I will send it to anyone interested. They can keep it or pass it on.

Scirish. I have the elliptical, recumbent bike, treadmill and the leg swingy thingy lol! I like the elliptical because it is low impact. It takes a while to build up to 20 minutes, but it is good leg and hip strengthening. I keep them in my basement with my spare karaoke machine. I sing and work out.

  45. I watched this movie two weeks ago and I saw right away why it won an Oscar. I also enjoyed the music at the end too.

I am hitting the sack as I think I am getting sick again! arrrrgh! I am sure it is this weird wacky weather we are having. Snow today, then hail, then rain, some sun and the wind is whipping right now!

See you all in the morning.
