Some of you may not know about them. Their leader is one Fred Phelps and they promote Primitive Baptist and Calvinist religion. That is what they say. The truth is that hey are anti gay and racist haters! They are famously known for protesting at funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and also demonstrate at any gay related event.
Here is a snip from Wikipedia:
Phelps Sr., his supporters and members of his church attend the aforementioned gatherings, as well as other gay-related events, with signs bearing anti-gay slogans. Phelps Sr. has characterized the AIDS Memorial Quilt as "100,000 living fags slobberin' around 45,000 dead fags" and declared Elizabeth Taylor, a fundraiser for AIDS research, to be a "world-famous filthy Jew whore." Other regular anti-gay slogans of Westboro include "Homosexuality = Death," "Fags Die, God Laughs," "Matthew Shepard Rots in Hell," "AIDS: Kills Fags Dead" and "Ellen DeGeneres is a Lesbian Slut." (The latter was carried at an "Equality Rocks" rock concert and fundraiser; at the event DeGeneres commented that she was not offended so much by the slogan as the fact that they had drawn pockmarks all over her face on the poster.)
Charming aren’t they? If you listen to any of their ranting it is just that ranting. There is no sense to it. Crazy nut jobs is what comes to mind.
For your pleasure here is a video from the University of Chicago and wonderful young men of Alpha Delta Phi! This is how they chose to deal with the Westboro crazies when they showed up to protest because President Obama used to teach there. I know it does not make sense but once again Crazy Nut Jobs!

ReplyDeleteWOOOHOOO...Off to read!!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning IBB!! Congrats on FIRST!
ReplyDeleteI am slow today..way to go IBB. Congrats on first!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Zona and ibb!
LYNND: I first heard about Fred Phelps when Matthew Shepard was murdered. Maybe I was naive, but the garbage this man and his group spewed just stunned me. That they hated so much, floored me. I cringe when I hear he is going to be involved in any kind of protest. I'm never quite sure what he is going to do, because he seems to be capable of anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thought provoking blog today LYNND!
Good Morning BEBBI!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be 84 here today..88 tomorrow and 92 by Wednesday. The flannel sheets are off the bed, cotton back on...and I just might have to start sleeping at night again!
ReplyDeleteMEK: The a/c date is the same as last year..not until May..though last year I don't think we waited that long!
JODI: I sure hope your back feels better. Take it easy kiddo.
I hope everyone has a great day. G'night!
SHIRLEY: I'll be saying prayers for you mom today. {{hugs}}
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off to bed...
Mornig Gloriers! I am all stuffed up and aching everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIbb congrats on first!
Zona I loved the video because these kids used their sense of humor to combat the hate. It made my day!
I will be back in a bit.
Good Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st IBB!! Hi Bebbi, Zona and Lynn.
Fred Phelps needs to be mowed down by a large truck. I'd be happy to drive. :)
He rates right up there with my all time list of idiots and morons. The fact that what he says pisses me off is what pisses me off! He should be given no credence or credibility at all- yet he manages to make my blood boil. My personal opinion is that he is a waste of DNA.
Ok, onward and upward. I hope everyone has a good day!
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteThe video was great, what a good response to the haters!
Like Zona, I first heard of Phelps after the Shepard murder. It is unbelievable that someone can harbor so much hate and anger.
Thankfully, most people do not feel the way he and the followers do.
They do manage to disturb whatever event they picket, but the response from the frat boys was perfect.
Thanx for sharing that today Lynn!
Congrats on 1st today IBB.
Good morning hooters! I can't believe there is so much hate in one person.
ReplyDeleteI looked Phelps up in wiki. "has 71 confirmed members, 60 of whom are related to Phelps through blood or marriage or both". Or BOTH? Maybe it's inbreeding run amok.
Congrats on first IBB!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Lynndee! I first heard of these people when they were protesting at the funerals of the soldiers killed in Iraq. My first thought was to send THEM to Iraq!!! It is refreshing to see these type of people dealt with with ridicule rather than more hate. Kudos to those students!!!
This really demonstrates how much abuse and ridicule anyone who is percieved to be "different" has to endure. It makes me realize that I've not had to stand up for anything while others have had to fight for their rights.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in discrimination, affirmative action or classification. One day maybe we can ignore all that and just treat each other like people.
*****UPDATE*****
ReplyDeleteThe voting ended for the 1000.00 for prom and my nephews school was 2nd and didnt win.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED!!!!
It was close and considering they were 3 times the size of our school, we gave them a run. I truely appreciated everyone helping and voting.
LOL@ the frat boys! And the one on the right was kind of cute... :D
ReplyDeleteLynn D: A couple of observations:
1. Did you all hear about the Phelps gang trying to come into Canada? OMG! A person was decapitated on a bus traveling across the prairies last year; the murder was so bizarre that it made headlines across Canada. Phelps and his merry band tried to get into the country to picket at the trial of the murderer - the general theme was that this kind of thing is what happens in a country that allows gay marriage.
The mounties stopped them at the border and denied them entrance.
2. If you think that Phelps is so fringe as to make his views irrelevant to the national discourse, think again. In my next comment, I'm going to provide a list of responses to a Prop 8-provoked controversy that erupted last October over a Bay Area public school that had the audacity to allow a gay-straight alliance meeting in a kindergarten room during lunchtime. The responses I'm going to post were from an online Catholic web site.
This comment will be way long, so just scroll past if you wish. However, for those of you who do bother to read these comments, the parallels with Phelps will be obvious.
To far too many people these days, K-girl and Joey and I and Mr Whabbear and Goldie's son (to mention just a few) are not human beings. We are instruments of evil.
As Jim and I are about to get on the road after a fabulous vacation in Palm Springs filled with tennis and BBQing and napping and socializing, the supposedly "evil" intent of myself and all the days and lesbians I know are even harder to fathom than usual!
Have a great day, Owls!
OK, here they are. Read 'em and weep...!
ReplyDeleteGod have mercy on us all. Although my heart goes to all those who suffer from Same-Sex Attraction...this is not the way to heal SSA. As a former Kindergarten teacher, this is completely inappropriate material. Not only b/c it is untruthful...but b/c children are clueless as to the concept of healthy sexuality...we spent the first month teaching them to write their first names! Stop this already...STOP IT. You're going the wrong way...and those suffering from SSA are NOT being helped. In Jesus' name.

"We're learning to be allies"...Parents have been entrusted by God to protect the innocence of their children. They must not cooperate and assist the devil. The father of lies has had such a great success in destroying children in the womb that now he is going after the little ones who escaped his jaws. This is pure evil. God's powerful hand of justice will surely and swiftly strike these evildoers who seek the ruin of children's souls... "Oh, my Jesus forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven especially those who are most in need of thy Mercy!"

This is mental & spiritual child abuse all the way. The US Department of Education should be ashamed to allow CA to screw with our children like this.

The teachers and administrators at this school should be sued. I would guess that what they are doing is not consistent with applicable education requirements and represents violations of other applicable standards and requirements. And then they should be fired. It is important to make each of the people involved in this event be responsible for the terrible things they are doing. The school district or other supervising entity for charter schools should also be sued. And the matter should be highly publisized.

This is insane and evil to the max. Even from a secular standpoint it makes no sense for the state to promote disordered homosexual relationships except pure perversity! This is probably why God destroyed Sodamn and told Lot not to look back. Pull your kids out of these schools Californians and don't look back. Vote Yes on 8!

The father of lies has continued to foist those lies upon the unsuspecting parents of this state and parents who think they are doing what is right for others are forgetting to do what is right for their own children. They have forgotten, but God does not forget. He will never forget any one of us. More than ever, we must all work to pass this proposition. We must pass Prop 8. The future of our children, and their children, depend on our efforts, and our stand for what is right, just and sane.

Catholic and other Christian parents should band together, take their kids out of these public schools, and educate them at home.

It is a sad day for America or for the world for that matter, on the one hand the homosexuals do not want us to stand up for what we know to be right and at the same time they are forcing their ideology down on us. They say that we are discriminating against them and do not allow them to be what they want to be, while they want to change marriage to suit them why don't they just stay together and do what they do, why do they have to hijack MARRIAGE. They are the ones forcing their views on us, more than we on them.

Vote Yes on Proposition 8 or what is described in this story will be "business as usual" at every elementary school in the state. Anyone who thinks there isn't an organized homosexual agenda actively working to indoctrinate our children into their perverted "lifestyle" had better think again!

Shocked, people? Shocked? What did you think was going to happen when SB777 and other such laws in California went through? Yet some of you still vote for these idiots who put through such legislation. There were already enough laws on the books to protect students from harassment. Many people in California have no idea how their legislators are voting or don't care. As long as they promise them "goodies" from the taxes they steal from the rest of us, they don't care what legislation they put through.

It's amazing the things that people will believe without any shred of evidence or proof. There are several interesting things about this article, not the least of which is the fact that they haven't even bothered to give the name of this supposed school. After a bit of digging, I was hard pressed to even find a school matching it's description. It's bad enough that people's freedoms are at stake in this country without false and blatantly inflaming articles being written to subjugate people's feelings and emotions into believing something that simply doesn't exist. God gave you a mind for a reason, use it! (Editor's Note: The name of the school is provided in the second paragraph of the story: "The school, Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science, chose not to tell parents ahead of time...")

According to the people behind Ally Week, the term "ally" refers to "anyone who supports ending anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools." The Church also defends homosexual persons from those forms of discrimination which are unjust and seeks to help them find joy and peace living in the joy of chastity. "Homosexual persons must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity," the bishop said.

Jaycee, you are like an ostrich, your head is in the sand. Have you ever really gotten on the websites that tell the public for what legislation their representatives are voting and how they are voting. How many people really read the actual legislation before they vote. Very, very few, I think. I am not a college grad, but I read it if there is a dispute about it. Get informed voters before we no longer living in a free, decent society. When one cannot even put up a sign opposing a certain piece of legislation without having our property damaged, signs stolen, etc. we know longer live in a free country.

I'm reminded of my studies back in high school how we learned how the Nazi's were using children to promote their propagada. Jaycee, Pacific Justice Institute is real and they have helped families with many cases such as these. You are definitely in denial! How about what is happening in Massachusetts?? They are teaching homosexual agenda in the schools over there. Murry get a life! You only interpret it that way as a way to help you accept these types of scandels on children. Schools should not be teaching controversial topics especially children who are very volnerable and easy to confuse! How dare they not tell parents! Something has got to give! This is no different regarding teens who are taken to an abortion clinic by a teacher without the parents knowledge. Homeschool people or try a conservative private school. Or keep close eye in your schools, volunteer alot and trust little!

Within the family unit, prejudices are instilled at a very early age. If the family does not, at what age should public schools begin to teach children to understand, value, and respect natural human diversity?

Teaching the unnatural as "diversity" is one of the lies of the evil one and his minions, as if truth is "diverse." There are many, in fact an infinite number of, diverse responses to the question 2+2, but only one right answer - the truth of 4. Diversity as promoted in this lying form is just another cover story for the main lie of relativism. More dictatorship being practiced on the innocent children now. Chastisements cannot be too far off the way events are proceeding.
Posted Friday, October 24, 2008 6:19 PM By JLS
There is no natural human diversity, Peter. All humans are the same when it comes to nature and God's law.
Posted Friday, October 24, 2008 9:27 PM By JLS
Following up: Peter, the thing that is unique about each individual human being is his or her personality, or soul, or whatever you want to call it, which depends upon your frame of philosophical reference. You could also say that every person is the same but with unique natures ... again depending upon your "lexicon", ie the intellectual universe particular to your customary use of language and abstract concepts. The pagan world apart from Judaism and Christianity does not now nor ever has developed a substantial sense of personality in the sense of individual human natures. This explains why so many homosexualists are personality challenged, and why they go to such extremes to find their unique personalities. But do you think God would allow them to find the image of Himself in their lusts and perversions? It is when we humble ourselves before God that He frees up our personalities. The family unit is critical because it is what God exists in, the family of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Human beings are made in the image and likeness of the Holy Trinity family. And so, it is a grotesque violation of nature and offense against supernature to attack the family instead of protecting and nurturing it. One reason for Islam's growth is its one saving grace, respect for the family: This is not due to the imposter Mohammed, but to Ishmael, and the promise God made to him.

Peter, teachers and other school employees should stop students from calling each other names PERIOD. That does not mean that they have to go into detail about peoples's sexual behavior. And girls should not be allowed to pose as boys and vice versa. When they are adults, no one can stop them, but schools should have dress codes for students. Girls in girls' clothing (even girls pants--they are different from boys pants--you know) and boys clothing for boys. To pose as what one is not is the heighth of deception. Cross dressing should not be allowed in schools.

Peter, George, Jaycee -- Safeschoolscoalition creates pro-homosexual curriculum for schools. They advocate a curriculum that discusses gender preference with kindergardners that has 5 year olds questioning sexuality and gender identity. This radicalism is what sets parents gnashing their teeth. The belief parents are indoctrinating their little kids with anti-gay hysteria is homosexual mythologizing of the culture. It is the equivalent of a 5 year old seeing monsters under the bed; scary, yes, but a fear-filled fantasy. If Prop 8 passes, the schools will have to buy into the fantasy. Every child will be taught to see the gay boogeyman lurking every where. Beth Reis, the creator of this curriculum and gay activist, also writes curriculum for sex ed that promotes Planned Parenthood. She actively opposes abstinance education. PP rewards her with funding Safe Schools Coalition. When it comes to kids, Safe Schools and PP is a match made in hell.

Homosexuality is not diversity..that is new speak for calling something it is not. Homosexuality is perversity. Sexuality of any sort should *not* be taught to five years olds. There is no healthy reason to strip these children of their sweet innocence. What one does in the privacy of one bedroom room is no one's business. It should remain there.

Do you folks who think "sexuality of any sort should *not* be taught to five years olds" not read Cinderella and other stories about kings and queens, princes and princesses to your children? Or do you only think it's sexuality if it's about two kings or two queens. Sexuality is taught everywhere at every age, like it or not.
Posted Monday, October 27, 2008 8:04 PM By Anne T.
Pauline, whether YOU like it or not, all of us got here through the uniting of a man and a woman--whether naturally or through artificial means. There is not other way for children to be born. It seems as though you hate men so much that you cannot admit that fact.

Pauline, you said:Sexuality is taught everywhere at every age, like it or not. You are so right and that is why the sexuality taught by two mommies or two daddies has to be kept out of the kid's line of sight and why a mother(female) and a daddy(male) should be in their line of sight. Otherwise the kid's learn that intrinsically disordered people and their disordered relationship is O.K.

Pauline, you obviously know little of literature and the role of fairy tales. The wondrous stories for children that are filled with dreams, adventure, wisdom, drama, romance, and always the moral that good overcomes evil. But it does acknowledge the existence of evil. It doesn't teach sexuality, it does demonstrate models for boy and girl behavior. Cinderella and others will probably end up on the banned list along with Tom Sawyer.
Posted Monday, October 27, 2008 9:55 PM By Pauline
Mary, then I'll add you to the list of people who don't believe the children's book King & King teaches sexuality. What about And Tango Makes Three, the children's story about the penguins Roy and Silo?
Posted Monday, October 27, 2008 10:05 PM By Pauline
Anne T, the Church teaches that sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul. The capacity to procreate is only one aspect. Sexuality does not cease when a person is uninterested, unable or unwilling to procreate. As to your remark, "It seems as though you hate men so much," you are so very silly. You give me the chuckles!

Pauline, a correction: I left out "any" when I wrote "There is not ANY other way for children to be born. In other words, everyone comes into this world with one mother and one father, so the old fairy tales merely express what is natural, whereas two kings together or two queens together (excuse the pun) are not natural and never will be.

Pauline lives with a disturbed world view. Cinderella is about unjust oppression and the triumph of good over evil. It doesn't "teach" sexuality. Children think nothing of a man with a woman, they see that everyday with their parents or their friends parents. King and King is unnatural because it is *not* seen in the real world, children are not educated when they are taught about homosexuality they are being indoctrinated just like what Hitler did with the Hitler Youth. Public schools should not be wasting taxpayers money on social engineering. No wonder kids today can't read, write and are woefully ignorant in history and the arts.

Grace, where do you live? I see examples of King & King in the "real world" every day. They too were taught as children about marriage being "only" between a man and a woman. They too saw it everyday with their parents or their friends' parents. They were indoctrinated and confirmed with the Catholic story. Many even wanted to become priests. Some did become priests. And today they're living King & King! And many are some of our finest writers, experts in history and masters of the arts.

Jack, there may be some genetic tendency towards homosexual attraction, but most of the problem is not genetic, but caused by child abuse and other personality distorting influences. Do you imagine that God cares how great somebody excels in some specific field if that person defies God? God can raise up anyone to excel at anything ... He is raising up a Church to excel at holiness among evil powers and forces. The devil can appear as an angel of light, which is what those "famous" great "minds" your refer to are doing.

JLS, thank you for bringing up "child abuse and other personality distorting influences." Vicious name-calling, bullying and harassment are forms of child abuse and personality distorting influences. Accordingly, childrens stories have been adapted to counter such abuse and distorting influence.
Posted Tuesday, October 28, 2008 8:09 PM By JLS
The most grievous abuse of a child is sexual abuse. Since homosexuality is an intrinsically disordered condition and the consequence of sin, and its practice is grave sin the social advocation of which is demonic, then to indoctrinate children with homosexual "normalcy" is the foulest thing a person can do. Jesus teaches that harming a child merits drowning in the sea. So, if you do not mind God's wrath and condemnation to those who harm children, such as with perversion, then that is your lot. You may even win the day for a while, as in the day of Sodom and Gomorrah that region's population had sunk to a universal condition of the depravity of homosexualism and even attempted to gang rape angels of God. That is what the homosexualist movement is aiming at, raping the most precious thing God has created, innocent human children.

I live in a normal town not in a town where Gays have invaded. One doesn't see open homosexual couples where I live. And I don't watch TV except for hockey games and old classics on turner. When I grew up I know know what a homosexual was until I was 16 years old. I didn't know about sex until I was 11. Teaching five year olds about sex is abusive! The US is becoming a police state where people are going to jail for having political thoughts ("hate crimes" ). The brainwashing of our children way from Western/Christian Values is part of the cultural Marxism of Political Correctness agenda. Many people posting here have already been brainwashed and don't even know it.

In relation to facts - the program outlined in the Hayward Schools was not, according to their own spokeswoman, designed or intended for Kindergarten students. So they say. This is what the Hayward Unified School District said in a statement issued last week: “The Faith Ringgold teacher planned to teach students how to become an ally and conflict mediation,” the statement reads. “We apologize for any misunderstandings, however, we support curriculum that teaches the diversity of our society and complies with all state laws.” School district spokeswoman Val Joyner did not return a telephone call from The Associated Press. But Joyner did tell a local Hayward newpaper that the "pledge" cards the school gave to kindergartners were meant for students in middle school and beyond. The district plans to review materials used for National Ally Week more carefully in the future, she said. “It was a mistake, and there was no intention to get anyone riled up,” Joyner told the Daily Review. “However, this one mishap did happen and we will evaluate the materials being used for National Ally Week to make sure they are appropriate for all grade levels.” In literal support of the school's ostensible mishap, Geoff Kors, executive director of Equality California, the state's largest gay rights group, said "What happened in Hayward has nothing to do with Prop. 8, schools have been teaching about inclusion and anti-bullying for years.” And further, the events were Not listed on the schol's elementary website and we not included in hands out for elementary school parents. Moreover, the school went directly to their district counsel to handle questions with the usual politburo new-speak. Make no mistake. They are heading for the pre-schools if they can. The homosexual political lobby will accept nothing less than full and complete indoctrination of your children from pre-school onward. The Left has followed a path of covert revolution from inside the schools, very successfully, for over the past forty years and the homosexual lobby has taken note and subscribed right along with them. How can the public be taken in by their lies and evil machinations ... just because they say reality didn't happen and that they are innocent and no one has to be concerned ... just don't look or listen and it will be just fine? What I don't get is how easy it is to get the public to bury their faces in mud and think they are eating cake.

Grace, is there something about "learning to be allies" and "Jane and the Beanstalk" that sounds like a sex ed class to you? Since you say you learned about sex at the young tender age of 11, perhaps you can answer that question for me. I had to wait until I was 21, so maybe I missed that lesson.

Here's one: "The Giver". I don't recall the name of the woman author. It took me about a year or two before I realized the root of its wierd problem ... It reminds me of something I say frequently ... " ... the Giver of Life ... " in the Nicene Creed. It is a novel written for middle school kids.

Melina is in deep denial. These "lessons" are only done in conjunction with pro-homosexual propaganda such as gay and lesbian history (why do we need such a thing?)and a “National Coming Out Day” for kindergartners.

Mary Eberstadt, writing in The Weekly Standard, provides an unsettling answer in her two articles, "Pedophilia Chic" and "Pedophilia Chic Reconsidered": "The social consensus against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents . . . is apparently eroding," she notes, documenting her claim with a disturbing survey of recent literature, science, and social commentary arguing for, or insinuating the normality of, adult sexual contact with teenagers and even prepubescent children.

The Journal of Homosexuality recently published a special double-issue entitled, "Male Intergenerational Intimacy," containing many articles portraying sex between men and minor boys as loving relationships. One article said parents should look upon the pedophile who loves their son "not as a rival or competitor, not as a theft of their property, but as a partner in the boy's upbringing, someone to be welcomed into their home."

According to their 2008 STAR scores, the students at Faith Ringgold School of Arts aren't learning much about math, history, english, or science. But they could probably talk your ear off about how wonderful homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, redistribution, marijuana, and the Democrat Party are!!! Oh, and also how Bush and Cheney and Rove want to kill little puppies and steal the oil.
I am rushing the dogs to the groomers. I will read blog and comments this afternoon. I just wanted to check in.
ReplyDeleteok whabby wins 4 longest comment eva!! whab, i will read 2night rite after i finish war & peace!
ReplyDeleteWow! Whab, The school administrators in Massachusetts will be surprised to learn about their "homosexual agenda". The sad thing is that I received an e-mail from a "Christian" acquaintance about this last year. She is the same one who sent me the "Obama is a Muslim terrorist" bullshit. I had e-mailed her back about doing some fact checking before she sent things like this out. Surprise! I have not heard from her since!
ReplyDeleteWhab, just finished your post. Enlightening as always. You know my stand on it- I just have to shake my head to think there really are people out there who think like that. But thank goodness there are others who can see the reality of life.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness...
ReplyDeletewe have been so busy today... This is a good thing. (you know, job security)...
but I havent been able to watch the video... ..I have not heard of this man... but ,,how terrible the hate they spew...
I have my "Relay for life" meeting tonight... we have a team for my friend Alice...
we are doing good things...
waving a wing at all who have landed today..
will be able to read and watch when I get home...must call hubby to tape DWTS for me tonight...can't miss Melissa !!!
wasn't that a nice surprise last week!!!!
hope you all have a great day!!!
Phew! That was a long comment, but I'm glad Whab posted it & glad I read it. If I remember correctly, our kids learn about a little more than sex when they're in school. The way everyone seems to be carrying on, you'd think our schoolkids are doing nothing but watching porn in school (sorry Carol ;)).
ReplyDeleteI think the people who participated in that particular blog were fanatical. At least though, they appeared to be polite to each other. I'd expect to see some colorful comments about such a hot topic.
Hey Gang! I just woke up seems napping is the only thing that helps. LOL
ReplyDeleteScrishy, Bonacci, Goldie, IBB thank you for your Comments.
Goldie I do think we have to keep track of the crazy nut jobs. You never know who they will set off in a path of destruction.
Whabby I had not heard about Canada but I do know that Fred Phelps and his daughter flew to Africa to put together some sick protest, but the African government was waiting for them at the other end and they were denied access and sent back to America. They never made it out of the airport.
Yes I do know how many ignorant people there are out there. Like I said I read other blogs and many news sources on line and always read the comments. You would be appalled at the lack of education and reality that so many people have. Just because they are crazy does not mean they are not cunning and have an agenda.
Off to hit the nyquil bottle.
LynnD; You mean you can take Nyquil during the day? Does it really work, or do you just get tipsy and not care that you feel like crap?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first, IBB! I'm excited to see Melissa on DWTS, too!
ReplyDeleteLynnD, those kids cracked me up. What a great way to handle those insane haters.
Whabbear, thanks for posting those comments. Unbelievable. I think that's all I can say. I actually pity people like that. It must be awful to live everyday with such hate.
Hi Zona, Bebbi, Goldie (I'm sorry your nephew's school didn't win--we tried!), EBJ, Bonacci, Scirish and Tinka!
It's rainy and chilly today but tomorrow will be sunny and 72!
Hi everyone. I'm back from Sunny San Diego and my computer is fixed, almost. I learned, while trying to watch the video, that I have no sound. But the video was amusing even without sound. I admire how these guys handled the situation. I am not familiar with this Phelps guy, but I agree with Goldie. I will ride shotgun for you when you drive that truck.
ReplyDeleteHello to all the Owls that have landed and to all those who will land later. I am going to take a nap, because I didn't get too much sleep in S.D. BBL
ReplyDeleteI am stopping by to say hello. I have been catching up on much needed work in the house the last few days. I hope everyone is having a happy healthy day. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWelcome back SacBarb! Good to see you again.
ReplyDeleteSandie and IBB, I am excited that Melissa is on DWTS too! I really like her.
I would love to know if Jason and Molly are still together.
Whab, I read all the comments, just unbelievable. All I can do is shake my head in disbelief at the ignorance.
This morning, I took Paula to the vet. She has been diagnosed as having high blood pressure, and detached retinas in both eyes.
I noticed yesterday that her pupils were dilated, and thought maybe she had a stroke, or head injury of some kind.
Today MR. EBJ will stop at the drug store and pick up her new high blood pressure medication. I am hoping they are able to make a liquid form, as getting pills in her is nearly impossible.
We are also going to consult a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if anything can be done for her retinas.
One option our vet gave us is taking her to the vet hospital at UC Davis for surgery.
This will probably not something we would even consider, it is a 5 hour procedure and no guarantee it will work.
I can't imagine putting an almost 17 year old kitty through that. She had a hard time recovering from light sedation when she had a cyst removed in Nov.
Anyway that is an update on my Paula. As always, I appreciate the good wishes some of you have sent!
We have overcast skies and looks like some rain may be coming. We still have not had enough this year.
Morning Hooters~
ReplyDeleteWow I havn't been here for a few days and come back to a blog about an absolute moron and his family of hate mongers.
I had the privlidge of being Judy Shepard's escort/bodyguard when a Film called "Journey to a Hate Free Millenium" was a showcase film at Honolulu's "Adam Baron Film Festival" which is our annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. My friend Connie called me last minute and asked me to be Judy's personal bodyguard as the festival had received word that Phelps and his mongers had just boarded planes and we're due to be picketing any movie house playing this and other films. He wanted to make sure that Judy herself would be caught in his hateful wrath. A reception was held the night before at a local gallery for all of the Directors, Producers, and actors that we're there to promote their films and also to celebrate Matthew and Judy for her tireless campaigning to educate and help stop the hate crimes around the country. This film was not just about Gay hate crimes but also the Columbine killings and the dragging death of James Byrd Jr. in Texas for his simply being black.
Judy was humble, gracious and soft spoken. Her son was murdered just the year before. Not being a Mom myself I could only imagine how she felt and my friend Connie and the rest of the Directors for the Film festival wanted to ensure hers and the rest of the persons involved in the festival.
We decided to not in the least engage these hate filled people, but to quietly and respectfully go about our business. Any time any Director, Actor, or person of interest stepped outside of a building, Theatre or event they we're surrounded by BEARS. Whab will know what I mean....lol.
Bears are usually big hunks of men, who like other men.
We moved in unison until each person was safely escorted in or out. Phelps himself is a frail looking man and spewed all kinds of hatred. What sickened me most of all was all of the young people, and even children spewing the same hate and holding signs that we're more obscene that the words that spewed from their mouths.
I love how these college kids fought back with laughter and bravado rather then stooping to the level of these originators of hate.
Sorry for another long post.
Thanks for the blog LynnD, one day we will all live as equals~
Hey All..
ReplyDeleteYesterday went well, my dad went out for the day with the "guys" that were at the baby shower, so no baby shower games for him.. Thank Goodness..
IBB..
Congrats on first..
Lynnd..
Ok, I am one of those that are not familiar with this phelps guy, but after reading your blog, I have learned something new.. but I now agree, he is a moron.. and that vid so funny.. Good for those students speaking their minds..
Sacbarb,
ReplyDeleteWaving madly at ya.. missed ya..
Shirley,
ReplyDeleteWhen you can stop by and let us know how mom is...
Oh my Whabby, I have to read your comment when I get home, I am still at work..
ReplyDeleteI am going to close up for the night.. see ya all when I get home..
ReplyDeleteShirley: Wishes for your Mom
ReplyDeleteEBJ: Wishes for Paula
Carol: GO HOME!!!!
IBB: Thanks for doing the relay...do you have a site to donate in your name?
Goldie: Can I please install the Turbo and the tire chains on that truck....actually a front loader is all we need...scoop up the crap and throw the rubbish away.
Sacarb: Your back~
Hi everyone else that I have missed.....
Waving at all the owls. I am going to attempt to clear the nyquil sleep fog, comb my bed hair, brush my teeth and put real clothes on to go pick up Mr. Lynn D.
ReplyDeleteBonacci I take nyquil for colds and I have had a doozy for the last week. It actually helps me sleep. Knocks me on my butt. If I am going for tipsy so I don't feel like crap I would switch up to Bloody Mary's or a Margarita! LOL
I have watched a few video tapes of the Phelps group and have always been struck not just by the hate that is spewed but how nonsensical it all is. They really don't make any sense when you analyze what they are spewing. There is a video of their protest at the inaugaration that was very compelling as bystanders stopped and very calmly tried to understand where they are coming from. It got to the point where one man just started laughing at them because he was struck by how insane their message is.
Like Kgirl I am very disturbed by the fact that they drag children with them on these strange and hateful quests. They are molding young minds who have no point of reference. I just hope that one day the children will realize that what they have learned is all wrong.
Many people have tried to chase this group off with no success. It has got to the point that many cities, counties and states have passed laws that make it illegal for people to protest at funerals so they can arrest Phelps and his people. Vets have formed groups to go to soldiers funerals to block the families and protect them from the Westboro church.
So it really struck me how it took a group of frat boys to take some in your face humor and make a very important statement that finally had them on the run. I gives me so much hope that there are generations behind me that see the hate for what it is and will hopefully spread their message of inclusion so that we will achieve equality for all human beings!
IBB love that you are doing the Relay! I did it a few years ago.
Ok going to put on some real clothes see you all later.
LYNN...it never ceases to amaze me how much ignorance, hatred, bigotry and anti-semetism can be harbored in one little body. The adults are so stupid that you can almost laugh at them...almost. But the saddest part to me is the hatred they thrust upon innocent children. Children are not born hating, it is learned and how dare they teach that. That makes me cringe. Thanks for the insightful blog.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon
SHIRLEY...hope things went well with your mum today.
Whabby: I honestly couldn't get through the whole of your comment. It made me sick to my stomach! 5 year olds don't know the difference between "gay" and "straight"..what are they thinking??? I don't understand this attitude. And, why bring children into the subject? Children need to be taught tolerance, love, kindness and caring for all living things.
ReplyDeleteShirley: I do too, hope things went well for your Mom today.
ReplyDelete49
ReplyDeletebig 5-0! 13,068 steps today and 15 minutes on the elliptical..woot woot..give a hoot..don't pollute.

ReplyDeletephew! another one bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteLynn_D, what a group of so-and-sos! I would love to see/hear their reaction to that video. Ha! Take that evil doers!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations ibebold #1 hooter!!! My Relay 4 Life team is dragging heals bad this year. I wonder how much is due to the economy. Good luck with all the meetings, organizing etc. :)
Been a great & busy day, weather's great, jobs are flowing like a menopausal night sweat, and all the owls are frolicking in the nest. Who could ask for anything more?
Oh, I can...a-hem, if you have been following me on Twitter or Facebook, you already know what I am going to ask. For the rest of you, please vote for Jason Dudey so he can win The Big Gay Sketch Show contest.
Just click here, you don't have to register, share your email or anything, just click his vote for me link above his picture.
And if you can, please vote every 24 hours. :D Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Dag-gum it Goldie, I was rootin' and voting for him. :(
Shirley, lots of good thoughts and prayers coming yours and Mom's way.
Whabby, I saw all those words and just glazed over like a donut. Anyone got cliff notes? LOL!
Welcome home Barb!
(((Paula))) may your little kitty eyes get nine more lives.
Thank you Kgirl!
ReplyDeleteI watched the Matthew Shepard story on tv not long ago, I've seen it quite a few times.
At the end of the movie, when Matthews dad speaks to the defendants in the courtroom scene, are words so touching and heartwrenching.
Here is the link, it is quite a tearjerker. SHEPARD/IMPACT STATEMENT
I am sitting here in tears after reading the Imapct Statement by Mr. Shepard.
ReplyDeleteEBJ, Mo: Me too..it was heart wrenching.
ReplyDeleteAs many of you know, I have experience with hate crimes. My best friends son was almost killed, seconds away from death, by a Neo-Nazi that shot him because he was on a mission to kill Jews. This little boy was only 5 years old. What kind of coward shoots innocent children? At 5, he barely knew what it meant to be Jewish. But he learned quickly. He also remembers everytime he see his scars and his limp that he almost died because of it.
ReplyDeleteThe update on mum isn't good. The abscess wasn't an abscess, it was a blood pool which they are draining. The doctor told my sister that there was a tumor and that the bone was thready (not really sure what that means). They took a biopsy of the tumor. The doctor told my sister that mum had a year and a half left. She said to make her as comfortable and happy as we could and to make the holidays extra special. Mum hasn't been told anything yet. She told my brother a little while ago she wanted to come home. I'm not really sure how to deal with this. Thanks to everyone who has been asking and thinking about mum.
ReplyDeleteoh, Shirlely, I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteOh SHIRLEY...I am so sorry that your mum is ailing so badly. I'm sure it was quite a blow to you, too. {{{hugs}}} and prayers for you and your family. Lean on us here...we promise not to drop you and if you do by chance fall, we will be there pick you up...always
ReplyDeleteJeez Shirley, I am so sorry to hear that. :(
ReplyDeleteShirley, trust me they will pick you up.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen so many times during the past ten months that I have lost count, but each time I do there is numerous owls to catch me.
Lynn, thank you for a very informative blog today. I have never heard of that ding-dong before and he totally gives me the shivers.
ReplyDeleteMo: That is really sad too. Too scary, this world we live in that someone would do that to a child. :(
ReplyDeleteShirley: You can count on us. You know we will be here to listen and to care, always. Be strong and I am praying for your whole family, especially your mum.
Goodnight everyone. Sweet Dreams.
ReplyDeletegood night Bebbi, sweet dreams to you too
ReplyDeleteHey Hooters!!!

ReplyDeleteShirley I'm so very sorry to hear that dishearteing news about your mum. Sometimes the most we can do for someone is just love them. ((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteJUST LIN...Are you feeling better?
ReplyDeleteJust Lin, Iteach, Bebbi, EBJ, IBB, Maureen, No Newz and everyone else thank you. I appreciate all the kind thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIBB Excellent job getting in first today!
ReplyDeleteEBJ I'm sorry to hear about Paula's problems. I don't blame you for not wanting to have her put under anesthesia again at her age. Can she get around the house okay with her eyes like that?
LynnD That man and his followers are so dispicable! The frat boys' response was priceless! I agree with others who pointed out how shameful, not only his actions are, but to indoctrinate children in this hatefulness is unforgiveable.
Good evening y'all!! I'm here...late, but here lol
ReplyDeleteLynnD: Thanks for posting this!! That Phelps guy has made me sick for year!!
I loved the video you posted!!:)
Whabbear, thanks for seeing me as a human being haha..Seriously, I wished most "got it" like we do!
Shirley, I'm so so sorry to hear about your mom!
New work schedule, so I have weird hours now lol....Have a great Tuesday!
"yearS" oops lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st IBB!!
My brothers went to Universal City Walk and said it was SO much fun!!
They are loving California, but I miss them a lot!:(
JOEY...what is your new job?
ReplyDeleteShirley,
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry about your mom, I agree with J/L, at times the best we can do is just give all the love we can.
I am here, as I think all the owls are, in good times and bad, and when and if you ever fall, remember we will catch you.
My wish for your mom, is peace,
surrounded by love, many smiles, and plenty of hugs..
♥♥♥
JL, so far Paula has managed to make her way around the house ok.
ReplyDeleteMR. EBJ moved her litter box into our bathroom, so it is a little closer.
She can see shadows according to the vet. She has bumped into things a few times which broke my heart, but we will manage. I think navigating is harder when it's dark, so I will be getting some night lights to help her out.
Her blood pressure pills are so tiny, and the instruction is 1/4 tablet daily. Sooo I had to cut the pills into quarters and we gave her the first dose.
I was cracking up, the label on her prescription says Paula (last name) CAT! haha!!
I don't think I remember a cat having high blood pressure in all my years as a vet tech!
They put a tiny bp cuff on her back leg today, the kind we used on the premies.
Anyone watching DWTS? I LOVED Ty Murry tonight! He is so cute! And what a great dance he just did!
Hi Mo,
ReplyDelete:O)
EBJ,
ReplyDeleteI hope Paula feels better soon..
Ebj,
ReplyDeleteYou must have been typing as I typing..
Yes I saw DWTS, and loved Melissa, it is so true, when one door closes another one opens..
Joey,
ReplyDeleteHooray.. you are working.. I am so excited.. Kudos...
I am off to bed..
ReplyDeletesee ya all tomorrow...
Joey! Why did you move and what is your new job??
ReplyDeleteIf Melissa wins, they damn well better not take the trophy back 6 weeks later...just sayin!!
ReplyDeleteHi CAROL!
Mo I agree!!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't seen Melissa dance yet, we are half way done here and Steve Wozniak just finished.
I am watching it on tape right now.. and Ty just finished... I gave him a standing ovation!!
ReplyDeleteit was sooo good...
When I got home from my Realy 4 Life meeting... melissa was getting her scores!!!
ReplyDeleteMO I am better today, thank you for asking. I got a good night's sleep last night so I think that helped a lot.
ReplyDeleteEBJ If Paula really struggles with being pilled, you can crush it into powder with the back of a spoon and put it into a little bit of something she really likes, like chicken baby food. If the pill is not bitter, you could crush it to powder, mix with a small amount of water, draw it up into syringe (no needle) and give it as an oral liquid. :)
MO LOL @ taking Melissa's trophy back.
ReplyDeleteThanx JL! You have some good ideas.
ReplyDeleteI used the "pill popper" on her tonight and she hates it. I will probably try crushing it and putting it in water or maybe buollion and using a syringe.
She won't eat anything but crunchy food, so baby food isn't an option.
Glad you are feeling better!
EBJ I hate it when you have to cut a pill into quarters. The quarters are never really equal.
ReplyDeleteGood night, Hooters. Sweet dreams.
ReplyDelete
