for Helen.....who just LOVES this song~
Growing up, my dad used to wake us up on Easter morning with this song blasting throughout the house. I miss it. I always thought it was so pretty and then it would dawn on me that I wanted to scream Hallelujah with them. Hearing that song meant Lent was over. Catholics don't say or sing the word Hallelujah (means Praise God) during the entire season of Lent, so it's a big deal to hear it on Easter Sunday. Hearing it meant that I could have chocolate, or soda, or watch TV again.....or whatever I gave up for Lent that year! It meant getting together with my big family, having lots of food, and an Easter Egg Hunt.
Now it just reminds me of my dad. I can see him at the record player putting the needle on the record at just the right spot and playing it for the tenth time that morning......over and over it played. I'd even get in the shower and come out and it would still be playing. He wouldn't stop until my mom got sick of it and told him to stop playing it. lol!~ Then, of course, we would hear it at church. I always thought, "Ha! My dad already played that this morning. You're too late!"
While searching for just the right video of this song, I found one with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing and thought.....uh....not! I found one with the words and it was okay. And then I found this one. I was so excited. It's in a church in Rome that I've visited called Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. It's the only Gothic style church in Rome and so beautiful inside. There is nothing I love more than beautiful music in a beautiful church in my favorite city in the world. I hope you all have a Blessed Easter Sunday.

ReplyDeleteMaureen - Thanks for asking. We are all heading up island for the day with my son and his family. We will eat at a restaurant and have an Easter egg hunt. Tomorrow we are all going to my daughter and family's home for a big Easter turkey dinner. Add the chocolates to all those calories and I just may skip weighing in at Weight Watchers this month. I can't resist all these treats.

ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteTina Thank you for the beautiful music today. Hey, somewhere in the bylaws, I'm pretty sure it say's that if you are FIRST you cannot be LAST. :)
I hope everyone has a lovely day. Lani made a midnight run with me last night to get meds for my cat who has a urinary tract infection, again! She refused to eat the meds when I put it in her food, so a struggle ensued, during which time she got a claw stuck in the back of my hand. Big ouch! I ended up wrapping her tightly in a towel like a papoose, with only her head out, holding her on her back on the kitchen counter, and shoving a pill down her throat. Good times! And I get to do that twice daily for 14 days. Oh, joy!
Slan Thanks again for going with me last night.
Just checking in!
ReplyDeleteI have been boiling eggs and potatos for the salad later. I looked out my kitchen window and there was a little brown bunny hopping around our backyard. Spring is here.
J/L sorry about your kitty! I am glad you have a friend like Lani to go with you.
Ok back to getting things ready for Easter Dinner.
LynnD Thank you. How appropriate that you saw a bunny in your yard today. Maybe he left you some chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteJ/L he left something but I don't think it was chocolate.
ReplyDeleteJust Lin... Sorry about your kitty... but glad the two of you got the meds...
ReplyDeleteI have to tell everyone... the necklace was in the same building as Robert Duvall last night... had any of my co-workers come to the back kitchen and told us he was there... the necklace would have been pictured with him.. I am sooo mad at my co-workers... it was THAT close...
but he bragged on the dough...(Mr. IBB makes that..) said he will be back... seems the mule he is using in his next movie , lives in my town!!!
Kinda cool... too close...
he is one of my favorite actors... my male dog is named after a charachter he played in "Lonesome Dove"...
oh well.... good evening to you all... must go get ready for work!!!
IBB I love Robert Duvall, too! I'm sure he'd love to hear the story of your dog being named after one of his characters. Maybe he'll be back soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHey... anyone needing a good MUSICAL MOMENT need to go to YAHOO home page and look at the feature story .."Dancing crowd stunt takes web by storm"
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty cool.. I think it was staged... but passer-byers joined in .. its worth a look..
I should have said...
ReplyDelete"A Sound Of Musical Moment"... that would be appropriate..

ReplyDeleteHi, hooters! Happy Easter to all!
ReplyDeleteTinkatia, I hope you have a wonderful time with the family today and tomorrow!
I'm just buzzing about what's happening at the Masters. It is setting up for an absolutely stunningly exciting back nine.
Unfortunately, I have to head out to a restaurant for an Easter brunch with my sister-and-brother-in law and friends of hers.
Bah. Humbug! LOL!
Tina: I LOVE the chorus... thanks for finding this version!
Hey everyone,
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! What a beautiful song to hear today Tina!
And congrats on 1st too :)
Not doing anything exciting here today. MR. EBJ is working, and I will make a nice dinner for us. I am going to make stuffed shells, salad and garlic bread. Yum!
JL I am sorry about your kitty and I can empathize with you. We are still struggling with Paula, too.
Kgirl rolling in at 4am! Wow!
Hope everyone is having a nice day, it is sunny and gorgeous here.
EBJ Your dinner sounds great. I am spending a quiet day, myself. I did make deviled eggs for my breakfast and will have a ham steak, sweet potato and fresh green beans for dinner. Oh, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I hope Paula is doing okay. My sick kitty is 17 1/2 yrs old and the other one is 19.
ReplyDeleteKgrl What were you doing last night; hiding Easter eggs? ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter/bunny day to everyone!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't caught up on all the weeks comments, but did read all the blogs.
"Just not fair", I agree Carol. I have a feeling "Jane" will get hers in the end!
I enjoyed the "Ride in the Rain" vid.
"Enjoy the Ride" Sandi what a great message. My favorite was "Dream while you are awake". I do that a lot!
MO,Loved your family get-to-gether I learned new words.

Tina, thanks for the beautiful song and reminder of my trip to Rome.
"It could be worse", I can identify sistah lol!
"Another successful BB meeting" I agree. I think we are past thinking any of us are ax murders or holy terrors lol!!
I had a wonderful vaca. The ship I was on was an Italian/International ship. I absolutely loved being around so many diff. nationalities.
I am now sooo convinced what a bunch of spoiled, complaining, impatient Americans we can be.Many were comparing the cruise ship to Carnival,Disney, etc. They hated the language barriers and couldn't understand why more American food wasn't available to them.I swear they wanted food available to them so they could eat til they passed out!I tried to explain to them how lucky they were to be able to taste the dif. cultures/food etc.
I told one man who was complaining about having to wait in line that the Europeans used that time to talk and get to know each other and how patient they were. He said "well that is fine over there, but when they come into the American market they should cater to our ways!" I gave up!
Anyway I am home, burnt to a crisp, relaxed and facing a pile of dirty laundry. BBL
BTW I missed you all!!
JL, Paula isn't doing so good. Not eating much, but still can jump up and drink out of the toilet!
ReplyDeleteI just got her to eat some baby food. Yesterday she would barely eat, today she is a little more hungry.
She sleeps most of the day, she has claimed the recliner chair in our bedroom. MR. EBJ had to cover it with a sheet, as she was getting down one night about a week ago, she got one of her back toenails caught in the fabric, and was hanging upside down.
Luckily, MR. EBJ was in the bathroom and saw it happen and rescued her right away.
She has been cuddling up with a pair of my socks that she adores, they are soft like cashmere and Paula rests her head on them. I will have to take a pic of her, it is precious.
So most of her time is spent in the recliner with the socks, and her little plate of food.
Her 17th b-day was a couple days ago.
I hope your kitty has a speedy recovery!
I am just about to get the shells cooked and stuffed.
I loved the phone call Goldie got from her grandbabies, is that adorable or what?
OK gotta cook so will be back later!

As soon as I get them I will put them on ms.Then we went back to the house for turkey, ham, salads, rolls, chocolate pie, pumpkin cheesecake and cherry cheesecake. We played pictionary and a movie trivia game. Mum had a mini egg hunt for her pearls whiched she really like. We laughed, teased and ate too much. Now I am going to watch Amazing Race and go to bed.

ReplyDeleteI was so happy the Captain was freed, I was glued to the TV all day, well in between stuffing myself..
I love our US armed forces, we have the best, and that is something no one can ever take away from us. I am very proud in how all involved handle the situation. Without giving into
their demands (which I think is the right thing to do) they freed our fellow American..
We will probably never really know how it exactly happen, and I don't even what to know, actually we should not know, cause whatever they did, should stay top secret..
I did see on Fox tho, that 3 head shots were fired.. imagine that 3 head shots is all it took..
Amazing, our military..
