Mr. Z and I were driving through the Target parking lot, when a song came on the radio. Although I hadn't heard it in, oh, say five years or more, I sang along without missing a beat. I don't know how I was able to do this considering, on a good day, I have a difficult time remembering why I walked into the kitchen. What's worse, it's been over two weeks and I still can't get this dang song out of my head. It comes to me out of the blue and I can't seem to fight it. I find myself singing it in the shower, while pushing a cart through the grocery store, and I was even embarrassed to find myself be-boppin' while singing it as I flipped through magazines at Barnes and Noble! I hum it here, I hum it there, I seem to hum it everywhere. It's not that I don't like it. I kinda do. Or I did. It's just that it won't go away. I know this has happened to everyone at one time or another, so you all know what I am going through. Do me a favor, please? Watch the video. Listen to the song. Sing along if you know it. Come back throughout the day and tell me if you find, like I did, that Julie just won't leave you alone.
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteWell another fashion flash back that has me laughing my ass off! Do you think that was a sock put to good use in those trousers?
Bobby Sherman, I have not thought about him in years I had a cousin who was absolutely gaga over him. She would cry every time he was on TV, a magazine cover, etc... Her brothers would hide the magazines from her when they were mad and it would be chaos at their house! Screaming, crying, hair pulling! LOL
Sorry Zona not stuck in my head. The song with that honor is The Flintstones theme. Have a Yabba Dabba Do Time!
I can't believe how chatty everyone was yesterday! Good Lord it took me forever to catch up!
ReplyDeleteGoldie so glad Hailey came through with flying colors! Wohoo!
Mo sending (((Hugs))) and saying prayers for your family.
I know there were more comments I meant to make but I have lost them in the nether regions of my brain. Somewhere with the Flintstones.
Coffee should jump start something!
i've never heard this song~
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first, LynnD~
FORE....
ReplyDeleteG'morning Lynndeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteZona....I haven't heard this song for a heck of a lot of years, but once it started all the words came right back... If it's stuck it might make a nice replacement for "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack which has been rattling around in my head since yesterday....My SIL and I were picking songs for her wedding and we picked that for her to dance to with her brother in place of the Father/Daughter dance. (both parents are gone)I have been singing(?) it ever since.
well that was six... but I tried!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st LynnD...
Zona... I used to love this song...
Morning Tina...WHAT ..never heard it... are you being serious...??

ReplyDeleteMorning Tina Eunice looks lively in her yellow scarf and red lipstick!
Hi IBB, Scrishy and Goldie!!!
Happy Tuesday Owls.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Lynn. Congrats on first. I was thinking the same thing about the sock. LOL
Mornin' Tina. You are gonna be busy at work today.
Mornin' IBB. Hope your day is startin' out well.
I'm up this early because my doorbell rang and I wondered who the hell would be at my door this early. I looked out the peephole and no one was there, then it rang again. I don't know why, but some of the electricity keeps going on and off. Something weird is happening. When it gets light out, I will check the fuse box. Not sure what I'm looking for, but I'll check it anyway.
Morning Scirish and Goldie.
ReplyDeleteZona, I used to like this song. Whatever happened to Bobby Sherman? I'll let you know later if it is still running in my head.
Think I'll try to go back to bed for a while. BBL
Wow Sacbarb is up early! Trickster doorbell ringing. Hmmmm Could it be the ghost of Gooses or Geeses past??? LOL
ReplyDeleteSacbarb what is about you and I wondering about socks???

Oh, wait, maybe thats how she died.
Scirish..
ReplyDeleteI was like you, I had not heard the song is quite of few years, yet as soon as I hit play, the words flooded back..
Lynnd..
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I am your cousin.. I went GaGa over Bobby Sherman.. Tiger Beat was under the covers with me as I went to sleep.. So peacefully I might add.

TINA: Mr Z hadn't heard it either..you two are just youngsters, that's probably why.. ;)
SCIRISH: I'm going to go listen to the song you can't get out of your head..maybe it'll replace this one in mine!
IBB: I used to love it too! ;)
GOLDIE: He has the best smile in this video. I don't know what is making him so happy..maybe that pantsuit..??
SACBARB: Go back to sleep!!

Ummmm...Tina...Is Eunice related to Marilyn Manson????
ReplyDeleteSacBarb....That doorbell thing would have freaked me out!!! It's been a while since my last fuse experience, but I would guess maybe a loose one??
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning...........
Lynn - congrats on FIRST!!
ZONA - I LOVE Bobby Sherman - used to have his poster in my room long, long time ago!!! AND - how about those pants!!! what a flashback!!!

Zona - there is a country/western song by Julianna from DWTS that is called "Song in My Head all Day"...
ReplyDeleteAND - i can't seem to get that Burger King commercial song..
I like Square Butts and I can not lie...... out of my head.....
Scirish - I LOVE "I hope you Dance".....

Hey Owls!
ReplyDeleteGoldie...I'm praying for wee Hailey! So happy things went so well!
Mo...thoughts and prayers to you and your family on this sad anniversary. Big hugs!
Zona...fabulous blog once again! So fun! Oh, I can feel Julie implanting in my brain. I wonder if I will be be bopping it in the meeting I am going to this morning.
I remember that song well, because at the time it was popular, my best friend's little brother who was about eight, had a crush on a girl named Julie. He sang that song constantly for about a year!
Bobby Sherman update....
He was always remarkably neat and well-behaved, a 1950s-style innocent in the turbulent 60s and 70s. Sherman was never arrested, never associated in any way with the counterculture, and never made any political stand. He now works as a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. He wears a police uniform, but carries a medical kit instead of a gun, working as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and training new EMTs. He is a sworn officer in both the LAPD and the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, where he is also an EMT, but it is essentially volunteer work -- the pay is $50 a month, and reservists have to supply most of their own equipment and launder their own uniforms.
Damn! SacBarb, that pesky VIG beat me to the update! I checked out Bobby on the internet recently, and he's quite the unassuming adult; he really seems to like giving back, and has a need to be useful doing something real for the community.
ReplyDeleteZona: Hey, Mister Sun!!!!
Whabby...hey, I've gone from the Notorious VIG to the Pesky VIG!!! TPV...gotta love it!!
ReplyDeleteMEK: That Burger King commercial is so bizarre..
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: There's also a clip of Bobby Sherman on Youtube..he was on Rosie's show a few years ago. He looks almost the same.
TNPVIG: I think be-boppin' in the meeting would be ideal! Just don't hurt yourself! ;)
BEAR: Awwww...I thought you were going to say "Easy Come, Easy Go"... :D
Sheila and Kathy: :| :) :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob! (I think...I have never figured out the language of the punctuation marks!!!)
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteMo, sending thoughts for you and your family today xoxo
Lynn I thought the same thing about the packaging in Bobby's pants.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that first!
Then the white shoes and bell bottom floods.
The past few days I've been singing (in my head) "Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer.
Why, I don't know.
Have a nice day everyone!
Thank you Lynn D~ do you like her perm? :D
ReplyDeleteIBB~ really....never heard the song before~
SacBarb~ that would have totally freaked me out!!!!~
Carol and Scirish!!! I'm not speaking to either of you until you start being nice to Eunice! Humpht!~
Vig~ thanks for the Bobby update~
Here is some more Bobby Sherman trivia:
ReplyDeleteSherman built a one-fifth scale model of Disneyland's Main Street, made entirely by hand in his yard at home.
My question would be....Why???
LynnD Congrats on being the early bird, again. Hey, if you want to see some socks, you should see some of the nightlife in San Francisco.....ijs. :D
ReplyDeleteZona Fun blog today but I must admit that I don't remember this song, and it ain't 'cause I'm too young, either. :(
MEK ROFLMAO @ "I like square butts". Now, I'll probably have that stuck in my brain all day. Thanks a lot!
Every once in a while, usually when I'm applying my makeup in front of the mirror, I'll find myself humming some song that my mother would hum around the house when I was a kid. Why that is in the recesses of my mind, I don't know. It always surprises me when it happens.
Holy Cow Crap!!!! The weather station just said New England is "The Hottest region in the country" and we are under a "fire watch"...
ReplyDeleteIt's 95 right now...Why is the pool not open????
Just so you know, I also see Tina, IBB, scirish, Bear, Goldie, SacBarb, Carol, EBJ, and VIG! I hope everyone has a great day.
ReplyDeletescirish Maybe Bobby had a little girl. Main Street is much more elaborate than just a play house.
ReplyDeleteHey, did I clear the room or what? Am I invisible? LOL
ReplyDeleteWow, That was the easiest 50 I had got. I turned on the computer for the first time today and it was waiting for me. I will read the blog and comments and I shall be back.

ZONA - Great song.....but I'm with TINA....I really don't think I've ever heard it before!! Now if it would've been Rick Springfield or Leif Garrett....that's when I start be-boppin'!!!

ReplyDeleteOh how I wish that we're true~ lol
Oh, it's so GOOD to be home!!! What a big to-do about nothing. Media hype again.
ReplyDeleteNow about this Bobby Sherman guy. Was he before my time? Did people actually go out in public dressed like that? I feel kind of bad making fun of him but I can't help myself. I've seen those spandex-ish outfits... Put a hood on the people and they look like giant sperms.

Kgrl Well, I guess a blog 69 is better than none at all. Maybe? ;)
ReplyDeleteBonacci Welcome home.
MEK You're making me want a hamburger and onion rings. :(
I'm so freakin' proud of myself. My automatic sprinklers were not working in one section of the front lawn. Today I fixed it! Yay for me! It was a loose electrical connection. I'm so pleased with myself. Can you tell?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, anyone remember that song, "867-5309" aka "Jenny" by Tommy Tutone? Funny story, that. The number had to be retired in the 818 area code, which was the real "Jenny's" real phone number.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Just_Lin, on tackling the sprinkler monster on your own. I think that's the most heinous homeowner project a person can commit against his/her house. It never works the way you think it will. You're either very good at this sort of thing, or you got lucky.
ReplyDeleteJust Lin - first - congrats on fixing the sprinkler system..
ReplyDeletesecond - make sure you get a shake with the hamburger and onion rings!!
Tug just helped herself to half of my lunch - turned my back for two seconds and she snatched it off the table - I didn't think she was that tall yet!!! YIKES
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to stop in yesterday because I had so much to do for the lacrosse banquet last night--which went great and I'm done!!! Can you hear my huge sigh of relief?
Tina, I loved your blog and yes, I've felt that way, too. But, I have to say that as time has gone by, I feel less that way because I know we're all busy little owls and never mean to leave anyone out or hurt feelings. I think we're all just nice that way. :) I want you all to know that I see all of you and although I don't mention each of you all the time, I really do think of you and enjoy you all.
Dianne, I too feel that sometimes I say something that's really funny and later think maybe it wasn't since no one said anything. Then I'll see that Just_Lin picked it as the QOTD! So, J/L, you must have the same warped sense of humor I do! LOL Thank you!
Zona, I only get that song stuck in my head when I see my best friend's daughter, Julie. Then I can't stop singing it. Maybe that's why she runs when she sees me. :)
Right now, "Hey Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind!" is stuck in my head. Why? I have no idea.
Goldie, my prayers go out to Hailey.
Mo, thinking of you and Leah and her family today. (((Hugs)))
Okay, I just read sacbarb's post and have "doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo" stuck in my head. (You know, the eerie Twilight song.)
Tinka, I hope you feel better!
Tina and Jodi, quit it! You're just showing your baby ages by not knowing that song. :)
Good afternoon feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteI see you all, but don't know if I can comment to each of you.
left work early. Feel crappy. A headache started in the back of my head and has decided to roost in my right eye. Maybe today is just weighing heavy on me today. And everything and everyone at work was trying on my last nerve. I thought it was best to leave before I went postal on someone.
ZONA...I triple loved Bobby Sherman! I still have his albums! I had posters all over my room and a poster of him on my ceiling over my bed so he was the last thing I saw before I slumbered and the first thing I saw when I awoke! Thank you so very much for those happy memories! I heart you!
BONACCI...glad you are home safe...regardless of the media hype.
Thank you all for the well wishes for Leah's family. It is also her parents wedding anniversary. She died on their 23rd wedding anniversary. Today they are married 25 years and can not celebrate that. So sad. So very sad.
Sorry to bring down the blog.
JUST LIN...did your daughter get home ok?
ReplyDeleteMEK I'm counting calories and a hamburger and onion rings would not be a good idea right now. Apparently, Tug decided you are on a diet, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteBonacci Usually, the sprinklers work just like they should. It's much more heinous to deal with plumbing issues, imho.
MO I'm sorry you are feeling lousy. Hope it's not the swine flu. Bad joke. Sorry. Yes, my daughter got home fine, finally. She and her SO were happy to see her cats and the cats were happy to see them. She's lucky she found a guy that likes her cats as much as she does.
Good afternoon Owls. I am up, showered and spiffied up and I feel much better. I checked the fuse box and didn't see anything unusual, so I think I'll call the hunky electrician that put the plug in for my electric stove. He's married and has a couple of kids, but what the heck, I could use some eye candy.
ReplyDeleteMEK, LOL @ too much Medium. You need to be more cautious when you turn your head if there is food around with Tug there.
ReplyDeleteLynnD, the socks brought me back to high school. And the boys thought we didn't know. :0)
ReplyDeleteScirish, It freaked me out when the doorbell rang at 5am, if fact it scared the crap out of me and I was afraid to go to the door. But my curiosity (or maybe I'm too nosey) got the better of me.
ReplyDeleteVIG & Bear, Thanks for the update on Bobby. He must have been very smart with his money if he can afford to volunteer full time.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, LOL @ you clearing the room. Oh, and I've got a drip line that won't work if you've got some time. My gardener (and I use that term loosely)said he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteTurtle racked another 69. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteBonacci, Glad you are safely back home. You certainly have some exciting adventures.
ReplyDeleteSandie, After I figured out there was no one at the door, that is exactly what I sang and out loud too.

ReplyDeleteSANDIE - Crap....Oh, Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind...HEY MICKEY!! Now it's running through mine!!
Mo, Sorry you're under the weather. These anniversaries are difficult to get through. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteSacBarb - did you put on your helmet and knee pads??!!
ReplyDeleteOH and our drip system in the backyard is non-existent anymore - Tug took care of that...... every little black hose thingy has been pulled out of the ground.. She is such a little helper..

ReplyDeleteSacBarb I don't have a drip line so I don't know what to tell you. Now if I was there......maybe I'd figure it out, who knows? I like puzzles.
ReplyDeleteJodi I am enjoying my little victory. :)
Mo, I'm sorry to hear about your head. I truly know what you're going through. Like a sledgehammer is pounding just behind your eye and there's a giant knot in your neck. My sincere sympathies. If I could, I'd rub your head so at least the pain is bearable.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, Wouldn't you like to come and visit me?

ReplyDeleteSacBarb - have fun......
ReplyDeleteBoo Hoo Hoo...I have been posting all day using ivisible ink (or computer) and nobody has noticed me!!
ReplyDeleteOk...for real...ZONA: I do remember this song like it was yesterday. I think the younguns' on this blog need to respect how cook we "older" ones thought it was cool to dress like Bobby was dressed and LYNN and MARY, I didn't even think of those sock things in that day and age! It takes me back to the lovely leisure suits my husband used to wear...powder blue even.
BUT ZONA, I don't have this song in my head because I still have the song from DWTS last night...Single Girl or Put A Ring On It or whatever it's called. I just love that song and loved the dance to it last night too.
MO: I hope you are feeling better and my thoughts go out to you today.
Did SHIRLEY ever see any of us last night? Wonder where she was/is?
MEK: You owe me a MS but do it later after you are all rested and done eating that hamburger and shake and onion rings! BTW..I really am cooking tonight.
Oh yea, I asked my husband last night if the plumber was showing his "plumbers crack" and he looked at me like I was on crack!!!
TINA: As I wrote and posted about my husband's leisure suit, I was thinking about the comeback you would have right away..now I will see if you thought of the same thing! :)
ReplyDeleteTomorrow my friend and I are going up to Central City/Blackhawk and have lunch and play the slot machines. I hope I am 1/4 as lucky as MARY and her husband.
Whoops...I hear the garage door opening..I need to get into the kitchen with my apron on...bbl..

J/L: Yay!! You can sprinkle again! :)
TINKA: Congrats on the easy 50! Now go get some rest! I hope you feel better soon! :)
JODI: Leif Garrett!!! My lil sis had a poster of him on her wall..though now she denies it. ;)
ReplyDeleteKGRL: Congrats on the beautifully executed 69!
MARY: I've been wondering about the lyrics cuz Bobby Sherman and his back-up singers seem to be singing two different versions in the video!
BONACCI: Glad you got home safely.
MEK: At least Tug was a lady and only took half your lunch.. ;)
SANDIE: I think I DID hear you sigh..lol..
MO: I'm glad you're feeling better..sorry to steal your super powers tonight.. ;)
SACBARB: AHA!! It's all a ruse to call the hunky electrician! Good idea!! ;)
DIANNE: LOL..you're using 'ivisible' ink?? Then we should be able to see you for sure!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't think of the 'sock things'? (oh..I made a HUGE spelling error right there..good thing I caught it) I find that HARD to believe...but if you say so.. ;)
My dad had a powder blue leisure suit too..he wore it with a flowered shirt and cowboy boots. He sure was snazzy..lol..
Thanks everyone for the comments today..it was fun reading them!
ZONA...I'll share my super powers with you any day ;)
