Kids Say The Darndest Things!
by EBJ
Here is a classic video from Art Linkletter. He asks questions, and the kid's responses are priceless!
Can you share something that was from the mouth of a babe?
EBJ~ I know my kids said the darndest things when they were little....actually, sometimes they still do...but for the life of me, I can't think of one~
I can't listen to the video because Chad's computer is having issues with the audio.
I think I have shared this here before, when I was in the third grade, I was one of the kids on Art Linkletter's radio show. My mother was secretary of the PTA and along with the other PTA officer's kids, were the one's saying the darndest things.
I shared that when I was supposed to be asleep, I would get up and watch TV through the key hole of my bedroom door. The TV sat directly across from my door. My parents moved the TV to the opposite side of the room after that.
I just dated myself, because it was a really loooong time ago that you could actually see through a key hole. Thanks EBJ for bringing that memory back again.
Loved the blog and video. I used to watch that show How cool that you were on it Sacbarb!!
Of course I can't think of anything other than the time my little son asked me if they had "french fries" when I was a kid. Same kid pointing down the street when standing with my Mother and her friends saying "Grandma a FIRE FUCK". Poor woman almost passed out then and there.
All kids also said some pretty funny things, and my kids were no different when they were little. They're funny now too, but now it is on purpose.
When Chad was little, he loved to sing, (still does) but didn't always hear the words right. One of his favorite songs when he was about 2/3 was "this is the dawning of the age of asparagus" and my Hubby was a huge country fan, so Chad would sing to the Oakridge Boys, "Come on in, baby take your clothes off" instead of "take your coat off."
I can't think of the others he would sing, but we never corrected him. We would just crack up every time.
Hi Goldie. All my kids had trouble with the "T" sound too. One time we were at a truck stop and Chad again said "look at all those FUCKERS" we got some pretty hard stares.
My in-laws were visiting one time and my oldest was almost three and was showing grandma how proud he was that he could put on his own shoes. Grandma said, "you've got them on the wrong feet." He looked down and said, "Grandma, these are my feet."
We were having hamburgers with sesame seeds on the buns for dinner and my youngest was picking off the seeds. I asked him if he didn't like them and he said, "I do like them, but I'm saving the seeds so I can plant them and grow hamburger buns." The kids had helped my Hubby plant a vegetable garden that day.
The only thing I can think of right now that has cracked me up lately, one of our grandsons just had a birthday and he got a lizard as his main present. Yuck!
He named her Alyssa the Lizard. I don't know why this is so funny to me but I laugh every time he says her name.
I have a busy day ahead. I will try to be back later.
My babies are fed. I can wait a while. I wanted to watch the video. Thanks EBJ. That little movie started my day with a smile. I loved that show.
I know my kids must have said some cute things but all I can remember right now was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. My aunt and uncle had arrived from Halifax to my parents' home. I was so excited because I was only 4 when I last saw them. I dressed my 3 kids in their finest clothes because I wanted to show them off. We weren't at my dad's house for more than 3 minutes when Cara, who was 3 at the time, climbed up on my uncle's knee. I was so pleased when she took his head in her little hands. I thought she was going to give him a sweet kiss. Instead she said "I know why you have rotten teeth, you never brush them". I was hoping the earth would open so I could fall in. It didn't. We got through it somehow but it's a moment I will never forget.
My parents have a story that they never pass up an opportunity to tell me about.
I was about 3 or 4 and we were traveling across the country. My parents decided to have dinner at a rather nice restaurant instead of our usual diners. After we finished the waitress brought a little tray with the bill on it, my father paid and the waitress took the little tray away. After a bit, she returned with my father's change on the tray. I studied this for a while and then, to my parents everlasting amusement, I yelled to the waitress, "EXCUSE ME, WHERE IS MY TRAY OF MONEY?
EBJ: My folks used to watch this show all the time. I remember watching the Danny Kaye and Bill Cosby versions. My nephew was one for always blurting out the funniest things when he was a kid..problem is, his old aunt can't remember any of them at the moment. He's 22 now..and probably very happy with my memory lapse!
Well..I'm flying back home tonight. DI and MR DI are so much fun and have been just wonderful. I had a great time meeting the family and seeing the sights..DI is the best tour guide, and I just love Colorado. The weather here is beautiful..and I was even cold the other night! Imagine! DI called me a wuss..lol..
I kinda like this idea of having the next person in line come and get the necklace...so MO, I'll expect you next week! ;)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day..we are going to lunch at the famous Nacho restaurant..and then off to the airport!
BEAR: Sending good thoughts and prayers to MrBear. I am very sorry about the loss of his dad.
I will be back later to comment on yesterday's blog and toady's. I will be try and think of things on both.
Off to the mountains for nachos and then to the airport. You should have seen my brother and husband's faces when I told them I was taking ZONA to Idaho Springs (in the mtns) for lunch "on the way to the airport"..they thought I had truly lost my sense of direction.
Tina,I see you got "self gratification" this morning!
Tinka, have wonderful time on your mini vaca!
Zona, I always play the "max". I have seen people hit the "jackpot" and get upset because they only put in one quater. They won $150 instead or $1,500.The dollar machines are the only ones I occasionally only play 2 or 3 coins at a time.
Diane, you are a wonderful travel guide. Did you learn that from Tina? She "guided" Mr Mary & I to a restaurant lol!
Whabbear,I hadn't heard about Jim's Dad passing away. My very heartfelt condolences to the both of you.
Tinka~ you reminded me of something my younger son did. When the twins were about 4 or 5 years old, I was promoted at work. I was very excited and on my day off, went in to work to sign some papers. I had to bring my kids in and make sure they were very quiet because the last thing a passenger wants to hear in the background was a kid screaming! Well, they were very quiet and then I ran into "the big man"....the big boss....THE man! He congratulated me and we talked for a couple of minutes. My little angel of a son stood at the tip toes of my boss....who is really really tall! He looked up at my boss man with his big brown eyes. When my boss realized that he was being stared at, he looked down and smiled.....that's when my sweet boy decided to say, "You have a crooked tooth!" can you say mortified? Boss man still laughs about it to this day....thank God!!!!!
Good afternoon to everyone. I hope all of you are healthy, happy and sassy. EUNICE, I must say you look well done.
EBJ - Thank you for your video.I laughed so hard watching it. When my daughter was around 5 or so, she went to ask me a question one day and started with "when you were alive".
I am sending a group HUG, and a prayer for good health and happiness.
EBJ...I always loved that show and watching the video today was very fun! Thanks for some great memories and for some great laughs today. I didn't think I had any stories to add but I told these two to Tinka earlier and she said post em!! Since I always listen to my neighbour, here goes.....
My older brother was about three years old when my parents let him go to church with them one Sunday instead of going to Sunday school. He was very excited for about the first five minutes and then was very bored. When they passed around the collection plate, apparently in an extremely loud voice he said "you mean we have to pay for this?!!!"
One of the kids I did respite for, said the Lord's Prayer every night. Instead of" hallowed be thy name" she always said "Harold be thy name" and she was convinced that God's name is Harold!!!!
It seems that my myspace account got hacked into yesterday. Apparently a link that I inadvertantly clicked on was a virus that sent that same status update to EVERYONE of my friends.
I by no stretch of the imagination am pissed at any of you, I know that none of you wrote a blog about me, and I am sorry for the inconvenience it caused to some.
If you did by chance click on the link I am told that if you simply go into your account and change your password it should remedy the situation.
Thanks Di and Zona for the immediate heads up, you two are like the Sherlock and Holmes, or better yet the Dudley Doo Rite and the Pink Panther of the nesters..lol.
There are a couple of you who ACTUALLY THOUGHT I was mad at you....they will remain nameless...but how could you even think that? ;-)
Kgirl...I got that message on MS and clicked on it cuz I thought it was a joke and didn't clue into that it was a phish until after I had clicked. I did what you said about changing my password and haven't had any problems. Thanks for being so conscientious and letting everyone know right away what to do!!!
Kgirl that sux! I just looked and haven't signed into Myspace for 3 weeks. So I will watch for a message from you when I do sign in again and delete it.
I avoid MS just cause it causes so many problems, like shutting down our internet for some strange reason.
I am loving all the cute kids stories today! My favorite one to share was one time, my mom, niece and I were driving down the highway.
A man cut in front of us, and my niece (about 6 at the time) screamed out YOU ASSHOLE!! at the top of her lungs!
My mom and I laughed, but told her that wasn't a nice word and she shouldn't say it.
She told us that her daddy (my brother) always says it so she did too.
Unfortunately, both my niece and her brother had quite the potty mouths as little kids. They live in Germany, and I guess it wasn't a big deal there for kids to swear. It was a hard adjustment for them when they'd come here to visit!
Di, Zona and MEK, my mom and dad were in Colorado this past weekend. They went to an anniversary party, then took the train from Durango to Silverton. The pics of the Rocky Mts. are breathtaking.
Cute video EBJ! You never know what a kid is going to say. My sister was a flower girl at my cousin's wedding when she was about three. The ring bearing was my cousin's nephew who was about the same age. Half way up the isle my sister farted really loud and you could hear the ring bearer say "you stink!" It was quite funny.
HI Shirley, Zona, Tink, Vig, Carol,Whabby and all.
Whabby: Sorry to hear about your father in law too. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My Dad was going to come for night racing at Churchill Downs on Thursday. We have been planning it for months, unfortunately, my stepmom went into the hospital and will be having gall bladder surgery tomorrow. So, he won't be coming. It's really dissapointing and I hope my stepmother's surgery goes well.
So, I will be staying around home the whole week of vacation. I didn't expect that, but I am enjoying the rest too. :)
I have walked 17,327 steps today. I did an hour of yoga too so I am feeling healthy.
LANI: It's nice to see you. How is that grandbaby doing? I miss seeing you post on the nest.
Well, ZONA is on a plane back to Arizona. I got her to the airport a little early but better safe than sorry as she was concerned about riding a train in our airport to her gate. We had a very nice time and I think I will become a Greyhound tour driver. I found I really enjoy showing off our city. We posted a bunch of pictures last night and have a couple more to post from today.
EBJ: That is a beautiful trip your parents werer on. My husband and I did it last month and I have taken the train quite a few times over the years. I would love to take it in the fall.
SHIRLEY: Your avatar makes me want to take a bite out of it.
TINK: Have a nice holiday. Where are you going this time? I hope you are feeling perfect now.
BEBBI: Sorry your vacation plans are changing but it will still be nice to have a week off. I bet you can find something fun to do.
I am at my daughter's house right now as we are taking a little trip over the fourth so we are planning out our food. Her husband has to work over the weekend so my husband said he would stay home as he has work to do also for his job and he and SIL can do a dinner and movie. We are going to Grand Lake and my son and family will be up there and my nephew also so we will join in the fun.
EBJ~ OMG!!! I just got to watch the video....i forgot how freaking hilarious those kids were~ Thanks for sharing today~
Di~ I just talked to Mr. Di.....he wants to know where his dinner is!~
Kgrl~ I got an email with your "post" and I thought....damn girl...you know I would say anything bad about you....so go suck it! :D
Lani~ So nice to see you around~ Don't go away again~
SacBarb~ Love that ur drugging Chad up.....i laughed this morning....i was picturing you drugging him up....and when he woke again...drugging him up again...just for the peace and quiet~ :D My MIL had heart surgery today and it went really well....My hubby and kids are there and my youngest finally sent me a text to let me know.....I asked what took so long and he replied, "The wire fell out and they had to start all over again!" I'm not really sure what that meant....but I'm happy she's doing well~
First.. my apologies to J/L, as she sent me the QOTD and I forgot to post it, so I just did..
Second.. Dianne sent me pics of her with the Traveling Necklace, they are posted on the front page of the blog.. Enjoy!
Third.. I might not be going away 4th of July weekend.. the timing for all just does not seem to be working.. I am still going to hope tho, we shall see what happens..
Fourth.. Shirley thanks for the stats.. :O)
Fourth.. A client showed up a hr late, then decided to tell me her whole life story and stayed two hrs, set my day way back..
Sixth.. Blogger did not auto post, which added to my aggravation 2day
Seventh.. Its been a crappy day..
Oh I said that already..
Going to chill a bit.. this day will be over soon..
Sorry I have been MIA for so long. I spent a few days at the house with the kitties and didnt take my laptop. Then by the time I tried to read thru the blogs I was too tired to post!
WHABBY...my condolences to you and Jim on the passing of his dad. {{HUGS}
ZONA and DIANNE...sounds like you gals had a blast! Loved the pics. ZONA...love your haircut! And I wish I could come and get the necklace personally. Maybe someday!
SACBARB...glad you and Chad are doing well. Are you taking care of YOU? Maybe after you medicate Chad for the evening you can have some liquid medication for you!! Cheers!
LANI...what a pleasant surprise to see your post. I hope you are well.
EBJ...kids do say the darndest things, don't they! Never could write a script as cute as the things they say so innocently.
My mom told me that when my brother was little and they would go out to eat, he would steal the tip back off the table! Then my mom would go back in and put down another tip!
My little cousin who is now 6 was about 4 when he innocently said...It's not nice to call a girl a bitch but it is ok to call a boy a bastard!! Where he got that from...who the hell knows!
I know I meant to comment to so amny more people, but my brain is fried. Please just accept my HELLO and best wishes to all.
CAROL...I didn't cheaqt...honest! The younger of the two cats developed a new trick...she would sit next to me then head-but me in the arm until I would pet her! It was hilarious. I would stop petting her and then she would do it again. A fun game for me to play!! So, I go there tonight as I was invited for dinner and neither cat knew I was alive!! Now that mommy and daddy are home I am just chopped liver to them!!
EBJ~ my MIL has a pacemaker~ needed batteries and there was something wrong with one of the wires....they ended up doing the easy surgery instead if the heavy duty one we thought they were going to have to do~ (my mom was on the job!) :D

ReplyDeleteGood evening/afternoon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st Tina/Eunice!
Shirley, I love the different desserts you have each day!
ReplyDeleteCan we have German chocolate cake soon?

ReplyDeleteSafe travels, glad you had a good time..
HI Shirley, Zona, Tink, Vig, Carol,Whabby and all.
ReplyDeleteWhabby: Sorry to hear about your father in law too.
Bear I'm so sorry to hear of your FIL's passing. My sincere condolences to you and Jim.

ReplyDeleteLANI: It's nice to see you. How is that grandbaby doing? I miss seeing you post on the nest.
ReplyDeleteWell, ZONA is on a plane back to Arizona.

Kgrl~ I got an email with your "post" and I thought....damn girl...you know I would say anything bad about you....so go suck it! :D
Lani~ So nice to see you around~ Don't go away again~
SacBarb~ Love that ur drugging Chad up.....i laughed this morning....i was picturing you drugging him up....and when he woke again...drugging him up again...just for the peace and quiet~ :D My MIL had heart surgery today and it went really well....My hubby and kids are there and my youngest finally sent me a text to let me know.....I asked what took so long and he replied, "The wire fell out and they had to start all over again!" I'm not really sure what that meant....but I'm happy she's doing well~
oh Tina_Ho_in_Utah~
ReplyDeletebite hard as I know it will hurt~
Yuck.. crappy day..
ReplyDeleteFirst.. my apologies to J/L, as she sent me the QOTD and I forgot to post it, so I just did..

:(
Good evening feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteSorry I have been MIA for so long. I spent a few days at the house with the kitties and didnt take my laptop. Then by the time I tried to read thru the blogs I was too tired to post!
WHABBY...my condolences to you and Jim on the passing of his dad. {{HUGS}
Well thank heavens my Boobs are finally off the front page!!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY...thanks for the stats! Good job, but didn't you get my bribe to make me 1st in all categories?????? LOL!

ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY...ROFLMAO!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCAROL...I didn't cheaqt...honest!
