Buffet

by Iteach

Recently I went out to eat with my co-workers at a wonderful Italian restaurant. This place is known for its delicious buffet. Tons of pizza, all kinds of pastas, different types of bread, and yummy dessert. It is a wonderful experience for your taste buds. Unfortunately on that day when we went I was on diet #826, so I had a nice salad.

Now eating the salad did not make me sad at all, it was my friends who chose the buffet that made me sad. They went up to the mouth watering buffet and they all came back with a little slice of pizza, a tablespoon of pasta, and a little piece of bread. I just couldn't believe it! God created buffets to fill up the whole plate at LEAST twice with luscious food not just 3/4 of a plate. I felt so sorry for the buffet.

Now I know what you are thinking. Due to the fact that I treat the buffet with respect is the reason why I'm on diet #826. Yes, there could be some truth to that, I won't deny it. My thoughts are either do the buffet right or just order something else.

I wondered if my co-workers would have filled there plates different, if they were not with their peers? If they were with their husband or children would they have filled their plates? Do they hold back because they are worried what people are thinking? Or do they have excellent control?

I have recognized that I have no control when it comes to buffets not even when I was a skinny minnie. Boy do I love food!!! Thank goodness we will always have Shirley' buffets. They are perfect for every type of eater.

  1. Morning Glories!

Tina I am one of those people who never eats enough at a buffet to justify what I spent at the buffet. Waste of money. If they had another choice I would have ordered off the menu. Mr. Lynn D likes a chinese buffet here in town and I go but always tell him we are losing money on my plate. I am full before I finish the first plate and rarely go back for seconds.

Can't guess about your friends but it could be peer pressure of not wanting to look like a little piggy! (sorry Mo).

I am doing the food bank today so I am on the run. Waving at one and all!

Lois Lane sending up postivie thoughts for your family today! Hope all get better soon!

Scrishy I hope today is much better! Muuuuwah! and (((Hugs)))!

  3. iteach.....my bet is on the "dripping over the sides plate" had your co-workers been alone or with family!

I have learned that when faced with a smörgåsbord of culinary delights that my eyes are always bigger than my stomachs capacity....so I hit it easy the first time so that I can go back for what I liked best the second time. But just a tiny bit of each thing so I can try it all.

But first and foremost...before I eat anything...I check the ladies room for cleanliness...a hook to hang my bag on...plenty of tissue.. because eating like that is ALWAYS going to result in explosive diarrhea for me.

I always like to place an AIR WICK® Stick Ups® Air Freshener directly at the source of the odor in small places like toilet stalls. With a simple twist, you can adjust the disc to the desired level of freshness. AIR WICK® Stick Ups® disc air fresheners are ideal for stopping big odors in small places.

    Bon Appetit!!

Of course Tina was the only one brazen enough to point out my error! The rest of you were very polite! :)

  8. Good Morning Hooters!

    congrats on 1st Lynn

iteach- great blog. I am a firm believer in treating a buffet with complete respect. Therefore, I try to avoid them. How can you NOT try some of everything and twice as much of something you really like?

Thanks for the wishes for my roof blowing off but damn, missed it by mere miles! the SW part of the state got all the tennis ball sized hail and trees uprooted. Here we just got rain..;(
    Oh well, next time.

I did something really stupid and am going to pay for it. I wore a pair of sandals that are ultra comfy to work yesterday. Then I wore them all day while out shopping and running around. Then to a party last night. Didn't realize until to late that I developed a HUGE blister on the ball of my left foot.

Not good for a diabetic, not good at all. So I may end up sitting around alot this weekend to avoid further damage. RATS! Mr. Goldie is not pleased, as he worries about me more than I worry about me.

Good morning to everyone and I hope everyone has a good day.

Shirley, I will limp over to the breakfast buffet and fill 'er up! thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. ITEACH..respect the buffet...love that attitude!

ZONA...I'm with you...first thoughts were Jimmy then Warren! Then when I read it my grumbling tummy began to rumble even louder!
I'll go with you to Sokolowski's!

LYNN...I am glad the fire wasnt worse. You handled it so much better then I would have. I would be afraid to sleep for days!

DEE DEE...ur cracking me up. Sorry to laugh at your gastro intestinal woes, but it was funny the way you put it!

    TINA...ur a brazen goof ;)~

BIRDEE...I see you swooped down in Area 51! Good morning.

SHIRLEY...can I forgo the plate and just walk down the buffet line with fork in hand and eat as I go?

GOLDIE...take care of that blister. I am with Mr.G on that one.

I have to get ready for work...picking up some O.T

  10. Now a proper Good Morning to all the hooters flittering in!

Iteach, I would think that going to a buffet while on a diet is cruel and unusual punishment (everyone please take note that I changed "whilst" to "while" so I could sound normal).

DeeDee, we need to get a bulletin to NASA. The space shuttle is obsolete. We could just feed you and you'll launch right off the commode. The first self-propelled astronaut!

  11. Good Morning Owls!

We have some good old sunshine today compared to last night's hell raising storms!

I feel sorry for the Mr. today he is working in the fields today after all that rain.

  13. Thank you, thank you, Shirley, for your buffett!!!!! I so loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. DeeDee, I just like clean bathrooms even if I'm just doing number one. I usually make up mind within in five seconds if I like the bathroom. If not, I will not go. Movie theater bathrooms are the worst.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Lynn no problem. It wasn't that good of a blog today, so it is alright to give Tina credit. :) ha!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Zona have fun with your Mr. today!

Goldie Ann take care of your foot (that was my best mom voice). My dad is also a diabetic and I'm always looking at his feet.

  17. I am here again. At the beach. With all the sand.

  18. Good Morning All Owls.

I am so happy you got first today.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

    Zona-My-Baby - Stay cool today.

Iteach - Missing you on myspace.

Shirley - Thanks for the Slim Fast. We are on the way to the Trout Farm and I will take it with me.

  19. Mo have fun with that OT.

Actually, Bonoacci, it felt powerful to say no to the buffett. I sort of liked it.

MEK- I want an Al Michaels report when you come back. I would love to hear what you learned.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love you Tinka!!!

Have fun at the trout farm! I bet it looks beautiful in the fall with all the colored leaves.

  21. Gross bathroom story alert......

I was at the gross-ry store a while back and had to pee my brains out. I went into the restroom and went for the first stall. On the floor NEXT to the toilet was a giant log of poop and poop on the seat. GROSSSSS. I still had to go, so I went to stall two...no paper. Thankfully the handicapped stall had paper and no errant poopies so I went in. Whilst (for you Bonacci!) I was pee-peeing, someone actually came in and used the first stall. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

    ReplyDelete
  22. Goldie, I hope your foot is okay. I know it's a really big deal with diabetics.

I'm sorry your hopes for catastrophic roof failure were dashed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mo, you must have wandered into the men's bathroom by accident.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sure Maureen, but why bother with the fork?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Shirley: I understand "assorted coffee" but not "assorted milk". LOL!

Bon: LOL again at the idea of Delores as a SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engine)!

But the shuttle has three of them... so we need DeeDee, Wanda, and one other volunteer.

Unusually explosive people are encouraged to call NASA's special recruitment number for a personal interview: 1-800-327-8464.

  26. Mo...EWWWWWWW...

Iteach...Cute Blog!!! I have never really cared for buffets as there usually is a bunch of dried out stuff that I don't particularly like anyhow. BUT, the last time we went through Atlantic City (which I swear, must be where the Buffet was invented) we went to a buffet in the Showboat, that was absolutely fantastic!!!! There were all these "stations" with different food ethnicities: Greek, Italian, Asian etc. You could choose a T-Bone Steak cooked to order, All-you-can eat shrimp...the list goes on and on. I was famished and going to try EVERYTHING! I lasted through 1/2 of my T-Bone and some steamed shrimp...What a waste!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bonacci....I don't think changing "whilst" to "while" will make you sound normal...ijs

    ReplyDelete
  28. Whabbear, assorted milk would be

    skim milk
    1% milk
    2% milk
    whole milk
    soy milk
    chocolate milk

  29. Good Afternoon Everyone!
Still debating what I want to do today...so, I was thinking 'bout Iteach's blog..and food!

I kinda wish I enjoyed a bigger variety of food...I've alway's been picky... Haven't been to a buffet in a really long time. I really don't care for meat, especially red meat. I've never eaten a steak, rib's or a roast, unless it's pork, and then 2 or 3 bite's is my limit. If I do have hamburger, it has to be disguised in something. Used to love chicken, but not so much anymore and it has to be white meat only. I like veggie's but won't eat onion's and bell pepper's. My salad's are pretty simple. I like some seafood, but not all. Don't really care for chinese either.
Soooooo, I guess If anyone want's to take me out to eat.....I'll be a really cheap date!!! ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Unless of course. I can order Lobster!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  31. Birdee how do you feel about cereal?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have a bunch of fresh Salmon in the freezer, from Mr B's fishing trip's....kinda getting burnt out on it!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Shirley, I'm pretty picky on that too!! I do like oatmeal alot, though!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do eat egg's a few time's a week, too...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Don't care for Ham either except maybe bacon and only if it's crispy...most of the time I have turkey bacon...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thank you for that vote of confidence, Scrish!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Birdee, I am going to print your post and use it when I am being persecuted for being picky. btw, you are WAY pickier than me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. good lord.......I am not so explosive that I have propulsion capabilities! I might be able to win a "distance" contest but I have never budged from the seat!

OMG Maureen! I have been in restrooms where you have to wonder what happened....like in department stores...I have seen some that look like murder scenes but instead of blood smeared everywhere....well you know.....just makes me wonder...what kind of people are walking among us.....

    ReplyDelete
  39. DeeDee they are at school too.

Every year we have about three students out of the 300 who like to smear their poo all over the stalls.

It is gross and all the teachers have to waste teaching time to figure who the poo artist is.....drives me crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Great. I come up for some air and Iteach has a mystery poo artist. Tell me. How do perform this forensics investigation?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ok I am home broken and beaten. I tell you I don't know what I do at the food bank but it just tears me up!

Tina Brazen is a good thing to me it means Bold. You Brazen Hussy you!!!

When did the blog turn from buffets to bowel impairment????

Good Lord if I found poop on the floor of the bathroom of my grossry store that would be my last trip to buy anything there!!

Goldie keep your damn feet up until that blister goes away. Lord you make me worry about you too.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Happy Saturday, hooters!

Iteach, good for you for "being good" at the buffet!

I am not a big fan of them, my eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I seldom get more than a plate of food.

I too like to sample different things, then am too full to go back.

There is a Chinese buffet right down the street from here which I've been to once. It has delicious food, not all greasy carbohydrates.

They have broiled fish (different types), fresh veggies, made to order sushi, plus other healthy choices.

They have many different types of rice, noodles, they even have deviled eggs!

Mo your bathroom story is just gross. How can people do that kinda shit (lol).

I am always disgusted at work if someone leaves the seat up with pee all over it and the floor.

Hope everyone is having a nice day so far! I'll be back!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hope everyone's having a great afternoon!

    Goldie, stay off your feet!

Iteach, that control and power of 'no' is pretty neat, huh?

    Who wants 69?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey y'all! Didn't forget me did you? lol

I have NOT forgotten y'all but have just been a bad owl again by not coming by as much!:(

Carol, I love buffets too! I totally agree that the plate should be filled at least twice and I always make myself sick with desserts lol

You bring up good points there...I think some probably did hold back because they were with peers...odd how we all have thought like that at one time or another-not wanting to look like a glutton lol

I hope everyone's Saturday is going good! Here's a vid y'all will LOVE-hope noone already linked it! I LOVE IT!

    AMAZING WEDDING ENTRANCE

  45. 69!! WOOHOO! mark that down shirley haha

    ReplyDelete
  47. Didn't even realize I came barging in in the middle of your march to 69! too funny!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Um, Joey. It may have been you. I think I screwed up EBJ's count. The two of you can share a 69, yes?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sorry, my computer froze up. Thanx for helping me get 69 Joey ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. well well well....kind of a shitty day, isn't it?~

    ReplyDelete
  51. I thought it started with a buffet. How'd we make the journey through the intestinal tract?

    ReplyDelete
  52. iya!

sorry, but not staying put long enough to keep my feet up. I put a bandaid on, cushy socks and my frigging expensive New Balance tennis shoes and hoofed around today.

Ok, so I keep hearing those adds about selling your gold. I know better then to use the internet or one of those places that sets up in the mall "for a special one time only" sell to.

I had rummaged thru my jewelry box and came up with some broken chains, earings that I had lost the mate to and various bracelets. I took them a local reputable coin and stamp place (they do gold-silver and platinum too). I almost fell over when he checked it, weighed it and I got $412.00!!! Going to go back thru my stuff and see what else I can part with!! Easy money for something that has been sitting unused and never will be.

Mr. Goldie has filets on the grill and I am drooling here. Grilled veggies to go with it and fresh cheese bread from the farmers market this morning. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Congrats on #1 LynnD!

Iteach: Great blog, I agree with you a buffet should be treated with respect. A buffet helped me to change my life, so I love them.

Goldie: Oh,,I do hope you are careful. I am sure you are putting neosporin on it so it heals quickly. I got worried when I read your post because my dad is diabetic and we worry about every single cut, scrape or blister. Be careful. Sorry the "comfy" sandals were little tricksters and not quite as "comfy" as you thought. I have a pair of those too. Thought they were so great and went on one of my long walks with them and got blisters too..OUCH!

Going back to read more, just had to stop and comment on Goldie's post.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Goldie: I did the same thing with my jewelry and the jeweler gave me back the stones and I got $350!! I was so happy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Joey: I never forget you. :) Good that you came by. I have been posting more recently but had my "absent spell" too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dee Dee & Whabby & all, you guys are cracking me up with the explosive talk. Hey, I take Alli..I could be the third engine. Just take one alli tablet and eat a Big Mac and fries...that will teach you a SERIOUS lesson...yikES!

    ReplyDelete
  57. That reminds me of Ross, he always talked about how he loved "pooh" talk. I could always take that but I could not stomach that whole "Netty pot" video..omg..that grossed me OUT!.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Okay, this serial poster has to go and get a shower. I am going to Wick's Pizza tonight to sit with my Mom and listen to music. I have to sit and watch her eat pizza. I need a sign on my ass that says, "I would rather be walking". Ta Ta for now Y'all and have a beautiful Saturday evening.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Iteach...

I love buffet's I can pick and chose, which is my fav, also my fav is a little bit of everything, so I can taste, and taste, and taste.. Unfortunately, I don't go to buffets often, as I can't eat what I use to, for some reason this last few years I get full faster.. so it becomes a waste for me.. However, When I have a chance to go, I do.. and then I taste, and taste, and taste.. :O)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow... lots of 'Shit" going on in the nest 2nite.. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  61. Birdee...

Oh that is so easy.. we know what you eat.. "bird food" and of course "worms" the latter being your fav..

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Shirley..

    Two words...

    Yum Yum..

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Goldie..

Yikes.. that sounds awful, take it easy 2day and don't put to much pressure on it, as it needs time to heal..

My parents sold some of there gold a couple of months ago, things they have not worn in years.. they went to Walter Bauman, which is a local jewelery store in our area. and she came home with almost $2000.00, it was surly a happy day in my household, when my father looked at the checked and smiled..

And the best part, is they still have their "favorite" jewelery, which they will not part with, each piece is actually willed to family members, mostly the boys..

I recommend it to all.. gold is up, so if you not using it.. sell it.. never hurts to have some extra cash at hand..

    ReplyDelete
  64. I keep thinking about Warren~ Buffet! I used to work for that loaded man!!!~

  75. DeeDee!!!!! My passport came today!!!! I can go with you now!!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  76. Well, my new found riches have been spent (sort of).

I went downstairs to do laundry and I thought "Holy Shit, how did an elephant get in here and why did it piss all over my laundry room?". Silly me, it was just my water heater letting loose. Damn, damn, damn. Well at least we have a universal home protection policy so I only have to pay the $85.00 deductable. I find great pleasure in collecting on something I have paid for.... :) Now if the frigging roof would just go......lol

Don't worry- I have perscription antibiotic cream on the blister (it popped) and have it all clean and covered with gauze. I am very carefull about my feet.

Off to scratch lottery tickets-need to pay for the deductable.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Tina, is that regular Eunice? Congrats on the passport. They gave you one!

    ReplyDelete
  78. bonacci~ that's made up Eunice~ I'll find regular Eunice one of these days~ DeeDee likes to do her up real special~

    ReplyDelete
  79. Tina; Okay. So congrats, still. They let you renew it!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I;m just yanking your chain, Tina. Even I have never had a problem getting a passport issued, so they must just give them to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  81. my passport photo is even worse then my drivers license pic...if that was even possible

    ReplyDelete
  82. Tina!! Great!! You will have to bunk with me! Which side of the bed do you like to wake up on with shaving cream all over your face???

And hope you like Bonacci's version of a "Dutch Oven"......

  85. Making a quick good-night-fly-by!
I was off line all day. My wireless thumb drive was not letting me connect. I went to the Verizon store to have it checked out. I was 8th on the list, so I left and did some shopping. I hate waiting in there. Luckily my thumb drive was still under warranty. They gave me a new one.
Mr Mary and I went to the last night of our county fair. I had a buffet of junk food lol!!
I did manage to catch up on the comments.Eeeeuuu!! There were a couple I should have skipped!!!
I better try to sleep. This night owls is supposed to get up at 6am! A few of us from our VFW Ladies Aux. are traveling to the VFW National Home. They hold a large picnic and open house. It is a very interesting place to visit. It is where Veteran's families go to live when they have no place else to go.
    Have a great Sunday everyone!

  86. Mary: Hello and goodnight. Sprint has that same long wait. I hate it too. Have a great day tomorrow.
