Just another day.......

Its Saturday, the weekend begins, lately my weekends have been filled with family issues, my time is not my time, It seems I must give my time to them. It really is not a big deal, life changes, we must go with the flow and make the best of it. So that is what I shall do, go with flow, follow the curves and be true to myself.

I will say this tho, and its totally off topic (well maybe its actually the topic). Whitney Houston, oh my word, her voice, so different than we know. I don't think she should be making a come back, her voice is def not up to par. If her voice sounds good on her CD it just because they "fixed" it to sound good, so there is no way I would ever buy her CD. She is not the Whitney I used to know. Life for her should be retiring from singing, it is def time for her to give it up. Her family/friends should be honest with her, but its probably all about the money, and there is no way she is getting any of mine. Julie Andrews did the right thing, and what a shame to lose her voice due to health issues. She bowed out of singing, as she new her voice could not carry as it used to. She certainly is commendable, there is no comparison to the two.

So where was I, oh yea, its Saturday, family issues, curves, etc, etc, etc,

  2. CAROL...sorry I didn't make it in yesterday. That was a beautiful blog you wrote. It is a day I know you, and all of us, will remember forever. I think it is a day we will remember every bit of where we were, what we did, how we felt...forever etched in our memories. Thank you for sharing

  5. Good morning Maureen....I have been sitting here waiting to beat Tina and I started reading the end of yesterdays posts....and you got me!!

    Congrats on first!!

  6. DEE DEE...good morning. Whatcha gonna do today?

  7. I am going to visit a friends son who is in prison about 50 miles from here in Huntsville.
I go and see him once a month. It is a lot of trouble with all the security and the noise....but I am the only person who visits him and I do it on behalf of his Mother...to whom I made a promise when she went into a nursing care facility...basically that I would watch out for his best interest.
It has been a real learning experience.

  8. DEE DEE...thats a nice thing you are doing for your friend. Im sure she and her son appreciate it.

  9. That why I got my perm and color and my eyebrows dyed last night. I wanted to look good...but not too good if you know what I mean...

All those caged men who haven't had a woman in God knows when!! I roll my knee highs up as far as they will go!! And NO CLEAVAGE! Lord if they got a good glimpse of my bosom all hell would break loose!

  10. Carol, family issues I know about all too well. My brother has decided that he thinks mum should be put into a home and wants me to talk with the nurse and doctor. He lives 30 minutes away and hasn't been to see mum in over 2 months. I was the one who drove Dad to the home he lived in. My brother was suppose to go too but he bailed at the last minute. I do not want to do that again. Everyone has opinions but no one is doing anything but me. It's ironic too, because mum and I of all the children, have had the worse relationship.

  11. I know that you are probably coveting my necklace Maureen....it is an imitation of the "Le Coeur de la Mer"
in that movie with Selena Dion...you know...Titanic....I got it at WalMart....I know that just to look at me you would figure it is real...but its not...and that brooch......it is a souvenir from the UK that says..."my friend went to England and all I got was this stupid brooch".....also fake....I thought I would wear it before I send it on to Tina...

So everybody to day just put your eyes back in your head and now that you have seen me fixed up....don't hate!

    ReplyDelete
  12. DEE DEE...you will be captivating and have a captive audience! If I read about a prison unrest in Texas, I will know the cause!!

    SHIRLEY...I can feel for you. My heart goes out to you. It seems pretty universal that brothers don't step up to the plate. {{hugs}}

  13. DEE DEE...you have such beautiful high cheekbones. Are they implants...that you put in yourself in the family room? ija!!

Damn, I was sure those jewels were real. So much for my certificate in diamondology

    ReplyDelete
  14. My cheekbones are natural...thank you......and sorry on the diamonds...but they are a "new" discovery exclusively at WalMart.
DIAMONETTES..they call them....the closest thing to a real cubic Zirconia...without the high price!

Well I must run....yall have a great day and I will ttyl....

  15. I am heading downtown today to our artists district. There are tours of all the different artists studios throughout the downtown area. I have a cousin (imagine that!!) that is an artist and I have never been to her studio before, so I am excited. In her building there is also a glass blowing studio. I love glass, so that is extra exciting for me!

  16. Good morning, Mo, DeeDee, Shirley & Carol! There are family issues going on, yes? Always difficult for everyone. I think some stay away because they're not equipped to handle them.

DeeDee, you look scrumptious! I see you're appealing to the 20-somethings with your death metal eyes. How thoughtful of you!

    ReplyDelete
  17. CHI CHI...good morning.

SHIRLEY...ya know, I was thinking...maybe you would feel better if you made us breakfast. It would take your mind off of things. ijs!!!

  18. Oh... I just checked out A51; It was a busy place in the wee hours. I learned a few things.

First, Tina is lurking about somewhere. I thought she was in jail or something but apparently, no.

Second, it looks like Just_Lin is having a reaction to those pills she's taking. I thought they were supposed to put you to sleep, but she's up and about. And making sense.

Finally, Gloria explained diverticulitis. At an obscene hour and without using ANY bad words.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maureen you are probably right, so here's breakfast.

    can of ravioli
    balogna
    a couple slices of bread
    beer left from last night

    Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bonachichi..I could say diverticultis is a pain in the butt.....but it is more inner than that. It is a horrible pain that you want it to go away real fast.

I love the laughter and back/forth fun gesturing of humor here.

Carol..I understand your remarks completely about family issues and your time is not yours. Sometimes I have alot of people yanking on me and I just want to find that corner of peace/quiet. I was the babysitter for the last 5 years for my granddaughter, she started kindergarten (full days) so now I have all this time. Now I get Mom can you do this for me and can I borrow your car while I put mine in for repair. Wait...I just got my freedom to go and do what I want when I want and now I won't have wheels for two days. What are you going to do...you accommodate as much as you can.

Today I am cleaning closets...those items that no longer fit must go, I will give to Good Will and just replace what I need to replace.

    Have a great day everyone!!

  21. Good Morning Hooters!

    Congrats on 1st Mo!!

Oh, and just for the record- my brother is a FABULOUS son and is always helping out with whatever little thing my Mom needs- and for my Dad before he passed away.

Big hugs to you shirley and Carol and anyone else who is dealing with family issues or illness.

Speaking of Mom- she is staying with us for the weekend, so off to the mall we go!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Morning All!!

I will have to catch up on comments later, it sounds like you all had a good time last night! My headache is down to a dull roar finally, but now I have a tooth throbbing, on the weekend of course!

Shirley, you may have explained this somewhere already, but why does your brother want to put Mom in a home?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Good morning, everybody!

DeeDee, you're going a very good deed! Kudos!

OK, gotta run (well, actually, drive). I have a BBQ to get to! :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Carol...You're right! I don't think all that crack did any thing for Whitney's voice. Have you seen the daughter lately tho? When she was little she was the spitting image of her father, which wasn't a good thing for a girl. She has really blossomed now and I believe she may take up a career in music.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Whabby...Have a wonderful time and take pics pls!!! It's hard to even think of a BBQ when looking out of the window here...It has been chilly and dark for several days. I hope fall is not like Spring and Summer here this year!!!

  26. Scirish my mum has thyroid cancer that has spread to the bone and in March was given 6-14 months left to live. She is frail and weak, but still able to do most things for herself, she just needs some supervision. Some days she is better than others, it depends on her pain. My younger sister lives with her but isn't always home in the evenings. My brother thinks putting her in a home will be better. He is forgetting her wishes which was to stay at home to die. I want to honor that. So I'm looking in to finding someone to come a few hours in the evening to keep mum company.

  27. Good Morning Owls....It's BBQ Saturday and I hope you all have a marvelous time. Please take pictures to post and have a toast to the owls that can't be there but would be if at all possible.

SACBARB: It is so nice of you to host the BBQ. I am sure it will be so fun. (make everyone there get in the picture too).

SHIRLEY: I am sending out hugs and good thoughts to you. You will be so glad you are doing what you do some day when you look back with no regrets. My parents wanted and put themselves into assisted living and the on to the nursing home part of the facility, so that made it somewhat easier for my brother and I. I have to say that my brother was a good son to both of them in his visiting. I know it is much harder for you and your family needing someone to be with your mum 24/7. Just know that I am thinking of you. PS SHIRLEY, I'm not too crazy about your breakfast today. Good thing I am going out. Where are the gingerbread pancakes?

CAROL: "MOST' of our family problems are not much anymore and I say that in a whisper. You are a great niece to helping out everyone.

MO: It sounds like y ou have a fun day planned. Any chance you will be dropping by the "library"?

DEEDEE: DO NOT SHOW CLEAVAGE AT PRISON. I do not want to be watching the news about you tonight. Now I know why you shaved that beard off this week...oh wait, it was long hair...yea, right. Seriously, you are a good friend to your friend and it will help you get to those pearly gates someday.

CHI CHI: If you noticed on A51, I was commenting along and then did a little marching and then that brat TINA jumped in and stole my 69. I didn't think that was very nice.

GLORIA: Hello and welcome to the nest. I am Dianne in Denver and have two grown children and five grandchildren that I will bore you about from time to time on this blog. I am married and I am a huge football fan....ummm, I mean a huge Bronco fan and I proudly must say that I have converted a couple of owls on this nest from their team to mine and they even proudly wear the shirt..GOLDIE, ZONA, TINA to name a few regardless of what they tell y ou.

SCIRISH Hope you get feeling better. It is cloudy and cool here today too. I love the fall weather. We are going to a wedding and I am so glad it's not outside.

GOLDIE: Have fun with your mom shopping. I think you always have fun when your mom is there. Actually, I think you just always have fun!!

BEAR: Drive safe and have fun.

K, I have to go and meet a friend now. Have a good day all.

  28. Hello Everyone!

I forgot to introduce myself to Gloria. Hello Gloria!

My name is Jennifer and I went by iteach for the longest time. I sort of miss my old name.

I live in Illinois with my sexy hubby, one stepdaughter, two sons, and one daughter. I teach 2nd grade to 25 children that I just adore. They are a bit of a handful this year, but we are adjusting.

Oh, and I'm pleasantly plump with dark hair and blue eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Morning Glories!

I am disguised as Sacbarb this morning! We are waving frantically at all of you this morning!

The table is getting set and food being prepared and life is good!

Survived the plane ride. Was hoping to get strip searched, but no such luck. :(

Will check in with you all in a bit!

We are ready and waiting for guests to arrive. The weather has gone from 102 yesterday to drizzly and cool 72 now. And Lynn is cheering.

Sharon says a big hello to you all.

Lynn and I will be back (in our best Arnold voice).

I hope you all have a good day. ♥♥♥

  32. Good morning/afternoon owls! I see we have a full house so far.
Carol, Families can be trying, but you really have to take care of #1, that is YOU! I remember all the responsibility I had when my parents weren't able to take care of themselves, especially with most of my siblings living out of state. I was lucky, in that they never questioned my decisions. They knew I would do the best I could. My parents went 12 years apart, Mom first. Bless you Carol and all those dealing with not only aging parents, but with any family members that need special assistance.

DeeDee, I visited an old friend in prison many years ago. He owned our local bar. He got a little greedy and started selling drugs on the side. He got caught once and got away with it and bragged about it. Guess what? The dummy did it again, sold it in his bar to an undercover agent! I have to admit I mostly visited him out of curiosity. It was an old prison and very intimidating.

Waving at MO (congrats. early bird),

    Whabby~ wish I was there!

Shirley, I think I'll skip the meal thank-you lol!

    Howdy to~

  34. Okay, back between activities today. Had a nice brunch with my friend and yakked our heads off. Now it's time to get ready for my friends wedding. It is a half hour later than I had though so that is good. We are picking up another friend and taking her with us. It should be fun. MrD has a special shoe on from falling down the stairs a couple of weeks ago. They discovered his toe was fractured so guess we can't dance....which is way okay with me. If my grandkids were going to be there I may be talked into a chicken dance, Hokey Pokey, Electric Slide and Macarena and maybe even a little two shoe if they played Beyonce...I'm a Single Girl!!

I am thinking about you bbq people and am sure you are having a really good time. Make BEAR behave cause remember...I went to dinner with him and know what a crazy guy he is...we almost got thrown out of the restaurant!! Okay, Okay....I might be fabricating a tiny bit.

Guess I had better change these clothes and put a little more make-up on and curl my hair. I can''t wait until I get home and read all the details of the bbq!

    ReplyDelete
  35. BTW who is all going to the BBQ this year?

  36. Hello, everyone.

Boy, am I wiped out today! Yesterday's extreme dental extractions left me wiped out today. I am sore but no longer in pain. I haven't needed a Vicodin since 5 a.m. My chin is swollen and bruised, making it look like someone punched me. I'm spending the day in my nightgown and robe and have slept almost all day.

I'm only eating things that are the consistency of baby food. I have some great homemade soup that I then put in the blender and it is very tasty. Right now I am sipping on some chocolate milk. I was kind of hyper last night but so worn out today that I slept too late to be able to make it to my dental recheck. My dentist is great and told me to go ahead and keep resting today and he will meet me at the office tomorrow. I really appreciate that.

  37. I can hear my echo in here!. I guess everyone is enjoying the day off. Mr Mary and I went for a walk in our back field. It was very relaxing. I wasn't so relaxed after watching 2 close football games! Mich. State lost but Michigan beat Notre Dame! Sorry Notre Dame fans!
The Mr and I will be going to sing a little Karaoke later, so I better practice..me me me me me me mi mi mi mi mi, mo mo mo momo!!

Hi Justlin! sorry about your day. I am sure it will get better. meanwhile enjoy your drug stupor lol!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Moweenie Congrats on first. Tina must have slept in today.

DeeDee That is very nice of you to continue to visit your friend's son now that she is unable to. I'm sure it means a lot to him, too. It must be creepy to enter the prison.

Shirley (((HUGS))) to you for being the one is really there for her mum when she needs you the most.

SacBarb, LynnD, Bear Hope you are having a great time. I'm sorry I'm not there.

    Dianne Enjoy yourself tonight.

Mary I'm no longer on drugs, I just look like I am. LOL

Bonach LOL @ death metal eyes.

Goldie Have fun with your mom.

Scirish Glad your headache is better. I had a hell of a headache last night, too. I'm so glad it's gone.

Jennifer I miss your Iteach name, too.

Carol You have the right idea; just follow the curves and go with the flow.

Gloria I am twice widowed and live in a coastal town just south of San Francisco. I have two grown kids, a son and daughter, and grandson, granddaughter, and step-granddaughter. Oh, and two old kitties.

  39. EBJ Sorry, I left your name out. Hope you are having a great time at the BBQ! Wish I was there but instead, I'm going to go back to bed again.

  40. Goldie..

You are very lucky to have wonderful brother who is in your life, and helps with your mom.. I can only wish that for myself. My brother is not in my life much, and does not help out with my parents at all.. Sometimes I think well its ok, cause I am always nervous around him. And sometimes I get pissed cause its all left to me..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dee..

Many years ago I went with a friend to visit a friend of theirs in prison, I will never forget it. What a very unpleasant experience, I was so shaken by it, that I swore I would never ever do anything wrong to ever put myself it that position. I remember being introduced to a young man who was only in his 20's and he was doing life for murder. And when I left all I good think about was that young boy spending the rest of his life in that place and that I just meet a murderer..

  52. Carol I have been wanting to ask you how your Aunt is doing? My Dad also suffered from dementia. At times he would become angry if you asked him something. Sometimes he would distroy stuff. Once at a hunting cabin he started throwing sneakers, books, magazines and anything else he could get his hands onto in the stove. He said he was just burning the trash. He had to be watched pretty close, that's why we ended up putting him in a home. I hope your Aunt has lots of loving people for support. Well she has at least one...you. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  53. Scirish..

Yes, I saw the daughter and agree, she had def blossomed..

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks Shirley.. ♥♥♥

My aunt is very confused, one minute she understands what is going on and the next minute she forgets who you are. She is now fixated on clothes, she keeps claiming that she has no clothes to wear, and of course she does, and then when you want to take her shopping she does not want to go. So whenever I pick her up to take her out she tells me she hasnothing to wear. So when I get there I have to dress her. Once the clothes are on and I pick them out she is fine.. Its a on going battle.. We try and stay as calm as possible and change the subject when it comes up..

    Sad, really..

  55. Maureen I don't know if you ate the breakfast I left for you this morning or not, but I'm going to leave a snack for you in the kitchen. Please do the dishes up after.

I have a half box of stale soda cracker, some cheese which you will have to cut the mold off of(not sure if there will be anything left) and some warm, flat pop/soda left out from the other night. Oh and I also found this meat in the back of the frig. It may be pepperoni, I'm not sure. Enjoy your snack!

I went to a baby shower, my cousin who I don't see very often is having twins. He lives down by the Jersey Shore which is about 1hr and 1/2 from me, hence not seeing him much. Alot of cousins were there that I have not seen in ages, so it was fun to see them again..

Everyone has gone home and it is just Lynn and me. (not Just_Lin)

  83. Mo, sorry about that. I posted and it was all weird!

We sang a few songs and left. The young crowd started in on head banger stuff! "Let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor!" Geesh, that took a lot of imagination to write lol!!

  89. SacBarb I feel so bad that I didn't make the bbq. I know I would love you all, even LynnD. LOL

All I've done today is sleep. Oh, I get up once in a while and eat something soft. Dinner was mashed potatoes and gravy, then a scoop of sorbet. I've only been up for about 2 hrs and I'm ready to go back to bed again. This is ridiculous! My mouth is very sore but not super painful like last night, thank goodness.

  97. Odd...I found a purse of Grandma's today in a closet I was cleaning in my house and it still smelled like Gram. It had a penny in a horseshoe that said "Keep me for good luck" and St. Judes prayer for hopeless causes from a church stuck in a hard plastic "Play Mass Lottery" folder. Is there something I should be doing here?

  98. Ya know I always have stuff to say, but must read all the comments before replying and then forget whatever was in my little brain at the beginning...sigh

  99. Listen...I thought that I should do a blog about caring for a parent with cancer, maybe no one will want to read it..But I would like to write it because the "gift" aspect only applies to a certain point and the rest is.....There was so much I didn't know and, even asked straight out the nurses wouldn't tell me.

I can and will tell anyone who needs/wants to know. That maybe enough for the moment.
