I forgot that there are a lot of crabs at this beach. I find them amusing. While Jr played in the water, I infiltrated the crab world~ (Don't be jealous...it wasn't 90 degrees with a nice breeze and the sun wasn't shining!)

good morning everyone.....
ReplyDeleteWell that was simply fascinating....but I kept thinking that it would run up and attack you.....I would have really enjoyed that!! You know.......the expletives....sand flying....ahhh....good times.
I don't have any crab stories but I did have a "neighbor? story that I posted to late for anyone to see although J/L read it.....I am reposting it today.....
My Neighbor...
in the late 80's and early ninties I had a neighbor with Alzheimer's....Rita....
My neice...Alicia...who was 8 at the time was staying with me one summer and one Friday night I let her have some girlfriends over to spend the night. Sort of a slumber party I guess...some of the girls were around 12 years old....I had left them screaming and acting crazy watching something on the television and I was in bed asleep...when Alicia awakened me...
NEENEE!!! NEENEE!!
What is it honey?
NEENEE!!! NEENEE!!
Alicia..calm down! Tell me whats going on!
NEENEE!....someones in the pool!! I think they fell in!!!
OMG!! I thought it was one of the girls!! I flew out there and there she was.....Rita....
Kind of late for a swim isn't it Rita?
YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS COVERED UP!! I FELL IN WHILE I WAS WALKING ACROSS THE PATIO!!
What were you doing back here?
Looking for your rake! You hedges and front yard are a mess!
I went and got her a rake and said goodnight.....
So Rita worked in my yard...in the dark...for an hour or so before moving on to the neighbors......
It was not unusual for Rita to do yard work for her neighbors during the wee hours....2 or 3 times a week....and she fell in my pool every week looking for that same rake.......
She worked in her gown and slippers with toilet tissue wrapped around her big hair-do......
It was a bit embarrassing...explaining her to guests at times....but Rita had been a dear friend for many years prior to losing her faculties....so I...as did others....just went along....and tried not to excite her......she had this soprano voice that would have every dog in the county howling if she got excited....
And boy did Alicia have a story to tell her parents when she got back home.....
Sometimes I would walk out to get in my car and hear a rustling in the bushes...thinking it might be a vicious dog or something....and Rita would step out with some weeds in her hand...... nobody weeded like Rita....
I miss her....and that toilet tissued hair-do....

Hey Everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st, Tina!!
Your crab is cute but, ugly at the same time. ;o) Kinda remind's me of myself....walking around in circle's! ha!
Mo!!!!!! How are you feeling???
Jigglin, I can vouch for ya...You're definately a Weirdo. LOL
Mary, Sorry to hear about your friend. (((HUGS)))
But, your comment's about your contractor are funny.
Bonachichi, Sorry to hear about your Uncle, too. (((HUGS)))
Tink, regarding the password thingy...it happen's to me just about all the time, even though I have the nest saved in my "favorites" section.
Tink and Birdee....Try going to www.blogger.com and sign in there. It keeps you signed in for about two weeks or so.
ReplyDeleteI just had to share this:
ReplyDeleteYesterday I had a flat tire on the interstate. So I eased my car over to
the shoulder of the road, carefully get out of the car and open the
trunk. .
I took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and stood them at the rear of
my car facing oncoming traffic. They look so life-like you wouldn't
believe it!
They are in trench coats exposing their nude bodies to the approaching
drivers.
To my surprise, cars start slowing down looking at my lifelike men which
made it safer for me to work at the side of the road. And of course,
traffic starts backing up. Everybody is tooting their horns and waving
like crazy. It wasn't long before a state trooper pulls up behind me.
He gets out of his car and starts walking towards me.. I could tell he
was not a happy camper!
'What's going on here? '
'My car has a flat tire', I said calmly..
'Well, what are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the road? '
I couldn't believe that he didn't know. So I told him,
'Helloooooo, those are my emergency flashers!
Good Morning Everyone. I will be back as soon as I get settled this morning. Have a great day all owls everywhere.
ReplyDeleteScrishy!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is freak'n HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scirish, too funny!
ReplyDeleteDeeDee, that was a cute neighbor story!
The electrician is here. He is a cutie too! Both of these men only live a couple miles from me. Ah to be young again!
cough cough! I forgot how dusty it would get in here! Part of a wall is going down and there is insulation flying! I have plastic on the doorways and he has plastic surrounding his work area, so that helps some. I need a nap!
Tinka, I have a gmail account. I sign in there and it keeps me signed into the nest.
ReplyDeleteTina, are you sure those crabs didn't come from you?
ReplyDeleteTina Congrats on #1! Did you come skittering into the nest sideways like the crab? LOL I don't know what to say about those crabs but I guess you don't take a little nap on the beach for fear one of them will come up and pinch you on the toe.
ReplyDeleteScirish That was hilarious! And kudos to you for changing your own tire. I could have done that in my 20's but I wouldn't attempt it now.
Zona Get yourself some crabs to run around the pool and it will be just like Hawaii! :)
Bear Leave it to you to know when there's some pounding going on. Welcome home!
LynnD Should we report Tina to the health department?
Mary Maybe by the time your kitchen is done, you will have become a morning girl.
Carol I wonder if anyone actually eats those little guys. Maybe that's why they move so fast!
DeeDee I love imagining the crab running up and pinching Tina's toe! Thanks for the laugh!
Birdee If you move as fast as that crab, you better lay off the caffeine. ;)
Tinka Congrats on 25! I hope you have a good day today.
Bonach Waving a wing at you!
ReplyDeleteyou guys are all so funny! humpht!
ReplyDeleteScirsh~ that joke made me laugh and laugh! Made Janice laugh too....then sent it to my boss....he thought is was funny! So I forwarded it to the big boss...still waiting for his reply~ will let you know!
Bonachichi.....those crabs did not come from me! tyvm!!~
Afternoon campers! What's up? I see Tina is a bit crabby today! (get it? crabs...crabby...HA!HA!HA!HA!) Congrats on 1st anyway!
ReplyDeleteHi Scirish, Lynn D, Mary, Zona, Whabbear, Carol, DeeDee, Birdee, Tinka, Bonachichi and Just Lin.
Later gaters!!
Happy Tuesday Owls.
ReplyDeleteTina, Congrats on being our first crabby Owl today. The video was interesting. I've never seen crabs in person and I didn't realize they scooted around so fast.
Scirish, LOL @ emergency flashers. I need me some of those.
Mary, Isn't it fun to have hunks working around the house? And the pounding...well just a bonus.
Waving to all the other Owls. Have a good day.
MARY, just think of it the way u said it--arly AM a cute contractor is fitting in a "tight" place althoght somewhat "dusty", pounding away. No wonder u need a nap!! J/S
ReplyDeleteTINA, this comes as no surprise to me that u have crabs? I am on my cell so not able to be so lengthy. I did want to mention (before someone else mentions it) that the Broncos won last night and we r 6-0. Just in case anyone missed it
ReplyDeleteWow! All the owls must be out foraging and gathering food for winter tonight... almost none in the nest!
ReplyDeleteDee Dee: OMG, that was a bizarre neighbor story! Did she eventually succumb, or is this still going on?
J/L: Thanks! Back to the grind today, but I'm leaving soon to drop in to my favorite sushi restaurant, up in Palo Alto, on my way up to SFO to pick up Huz. I think he got some nice closure on his Dad with the service and with us going to the gravesight of both parents (his Mom died in 1982).
It's weird to think that the circle of life has closed on all that had to do with his Dad! Jim, his brother, and his sister all went back to Ohio for Christmas when his Dad was still in the house, and all three would go back once in the summer, too. The pattern started to unravel when their Dad had to go into assisted living, and began to deteriorate badly both mentally and physically, although Jim and his brother still made it back twice a year.
And now, it's all over. In fact, it's very unlikely that the three siblings will ever be in Columbus at the same time again.
I'm sorry I was never part of their Christmas get-togethers. Jim and his brother John elected not to come out to their Dad, so their relationship with him was full of evasions and half-truths. Jim said as he drove me to the airport yesterday that everything would have been different if his Mom had lived longer, as he's sure that he would have come out to her.
I certainly never gave him a hard time over it. I didn't tell my Dad either; it was my Mother who blurted out the truth, something like 10 years ago now. I don't know what we were all afraid of; my Dad has been nothing but supportive of me and my relationship with Jim.
Would it have been any different with Jim and his Dad? I actually don't think so. His Dad loved his children, and slaved while they were growing up at multiple jobs so they could have a chance at a post-secondary education. I think he would have been proud to welcome a NASA scientist into the family!
BOO!
ReplyDeleteSSSSSSSSCCCCCCCCCCCRRRREEEEAAAAMMMM!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhabby..
ReplyDeleteYour post was heartwarming, yet unfortunate, that one can not be who they are with certain people.. I believe some older generations could not process love within the same gender. Sad really, cause love warms the heart no matter what the genders are..
Tina..
ReplyDeleteDid I scare ya.. did I????

ReplyDeleteCarol It's just that the crabs Tina was filming looked so little. Oh, and your new avatar is very scary!
ReplyDeleteBear Thank you for sharing that. I'm glad your father surprised you and was able to be more open-minded than you expected. I would like to think that Huz's father would have been, too, but I guess everything happens for a reason. I think anyone would be proud to have a NASA scientist in the family. :)
J/L..
ReplyDeleteYou grabbed 50! Congrats..
