It is relevant?

with the weather changing
i realize another year will
come to a end soon

thinking back it seems
i can't remember much
of this past yr
actually nothing really stands out

so i wonder as i always do
what the next yr will bring
and will it be as this yr
not so relevant

i will admit little snippets
come to mind like a skunk
or the bay at the jersey shore
or my nephews making me
smile or a toe that is bruised
with pain

so yes not so relevant

it was yesterday that a balloon
went up in the air supposedly
holding a child captive
his name is Falcon
it came to be that
the child was safe on solid
ground and i could not help and
think "Falcon, in the sky were
he belongs" of all the boys that
could have been in this situation
it was Falcon that was the
possibility, his name will fit
his legacy

so for him and his family
i guess this yr will be relevant
as its the yr their homemade
balloon escaped its reins
and flew into the air leaving
Falcon behind

you have to wonder tho
"ppl making homemade balloons"
whatever happen to ppl making
homemade cookies
to me that would be so much easier

we shall see
as life goes on
and so do we

  1. Well Obviously Tina in Hawaii has hampered her on jumping into first!

Carol this year has had many moments for me but it has been an exhausting year. I am hoping next year will be calmer and less of a roller coaster.

I did find it ironic that childs name was Falcon. How many out there like me suspect that the 12 year old cooked up this plan? You think he untethered the balloon knew he would get in trouble so he had his little brother hide? Hmmm sounds like kid logic to me. Otherwise how does a 6 year old get into the attic of a garage and hide in a box with snacks?

    Kids :)

  3. Good morning Lynn D and congrats on 1st!!

That kid is going to get more attention than the war in Iraq. Just like the kid who stole his father's car. He will be put on all the news shows. Sad really.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR MO!!!!!!!SWAK

    congrats on 1st lynn,

Lynn, I believe that the older child also cooked this up. Just seems that way to me...

Breakfast?? Shirley you are a doll!! Although your avatar is a bit misleading on that fact... just saying...

Carol- this year has been all things good and bad. Mostly good for us, but a couple of hiccups along the way.

Mr. Goldie and I spent last evening having dinner with a friend who was driving thru on her way home from the campground (she went up to close for the season) to Il.

Her hubby is in the hospital with kidney failure, pneumonia and now an infection in his chest tube thingy (where they hook him up to dialysis). This is the 5th time since May he has been in and it really sucks. She wants to give him a Kidney, but he has to be healthy enough to have surgery. I love her to death, so I ask my fellow owls to wish them luck.

Have a good day today everyone! The sun is shining here and its Friday, so yipeee!!!!

Goldie saying a prayer for your friend!

Seriously I am happy this week is almost over too!

Shirley you can not serve food to this crowd and expect us to stay away! You should have learned by now we have no impulse control what so ever! :)

  20. Lynn..

I have problems with my apps on FB all the time, I swear that is what takes up so much time.. trying to get on and then once on getting kicked out.. etc etc

    ReplyDelete
  21. Shirley I have noticed that every time they load new things that there are problems. It seems to take a day or two for the kinks to get worked out. Also notice the more someone has on their farms the more problems I seem to have. So I get it.

  24. In light of yesterdays blog, I saw this today...

President Obama went to New Orleans for the first time as president Thursday to visit a charter school and to hold a town hall meeting. While there, he told the people of the city that he is committed to helping them continue to rebuild, more than four years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the region.

Obama observed that the destruction on the Gulf Coast was caused not just by a natural disaster, but also by the failure of government at every level to prepare for it. "We will not forget about New Orleans, and we are not going to forget about the Gulf Coast," he promised. "Together we will rebuild this region and we will rebuild it stronger than before."

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal attended, as did Sen. Mary Landrieu, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, and Tyren Scott, a 4th-grade boy who asked the president the last question during the question and answer session of the program.

"Why do people hate you? And why, aren't they supposed to love you, if God is love?" Tyren asked the commander-in-chief.

The crowd clapped for Tyren as Obama laughed and patted Tyren on the shoulder. "First of all, I did get elected president, so not everybody hates me; I got a whole lot of votes," Obama joked. "A lot of it is what's called politics, where once one party wins, the other party feels like they've got to poke you a little bit to keep you on your toes. So you shouldn't take it too seriously."

He went on. "But people are worried about their own lives. A lot of people are losing their jobs right now. They're losing their health care or they lost their homes to foreclosure and they're feeling frustrated, and when you're president of the United States, you've got to deal with all of it. You get some of the credit when things are going good, but when things are going bad, you get some of the blame."

"But that's all right," Obama said, adding, "I'm a pretty tough guy. Are you a tough guy? You look pretty tough. So you've just got to keep going on going, even when folks are criticizing you, when you know you're doing it for other people."

  29. Good afternoon everyone!
Making another mad dash. I have been busy with my Kitchen plans. Seems Mr Mary wants no say in any of the plans. Needless to say I have been overwhelmed! I had to find the contractor, pick out the cupboards, counter top, dishwasher,(my 1st ever!), back splash, and design for my new pantry! All this while running the house and visiting SIL in hospital. I have been "farming" to give myself a break now & then. I don't need a bad farm to boot lol!!

Goldie, I will keep your friend's Hubby in my prayers. My Mother was on dialysis for many years. She had 7 of us siblings. We were never approached about a kidney transplant. It wasn't that well advanced in the 60s. But I also feel sad that her lack of insurance had a lot to do with it.

Carol, how fun! Celebrating 2 B-days Italian style!! Have fun!

Diane-not-gambling-yet. Where in the hell are you? Tina in Hawaii? You both slipped out of town! Have fun gals!

    MO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    lYNND Congrats on first! :)

  34. Carol - This has been one of my best and one of my worst years. I don't like to get on the blog and complain about not being able to walk without pain so I just don't blog. It is now 5 months of feeling like I am trying to walk with 100 pound weights attached to my legs. If I walk for more than 10 minutes the pain is awful. I have had every test, ultrasound and xray my doctor can think of. Nothing has shown up. I am now waiting to see a neurologist. It shouldn't be long. Please know I am thinking of you all and I will be back when I feel better.
    Love, Tinka

  35. Shirley - I am going to miss you on Farmtown and Farmville. It has been great for me. I just "zone out" with my legs propped up and forget about my troubles. I have never been slowed down on my computer. I guess I have a good server. Off I go to my farms.

  36. Zona - Thinking of you today. ((((Hugs)))))

  37. Mark that down Shirley although I will never catch up with you now.

  38. Tinka, I am so sorry you are still in pain. I have missed you. If you don't post, I worry about you. I don't mind hearing about your condition. I know there will be better days ahead for you. I do my "airing out" here and so far the sweet owls have not kicked me out of the nest lol! So please check in more often Tinka!

  39. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOWEENIE!!!!

LynnD Last night during a live interview, Falcon looked at his dad and said, "You said we did it for the show". WTC? They are investigating the family to try to determine if it was all a hoax.

Shirley How wonderful that you made breakfast to celebrate MO's birthday. I'll have some bacon with a side of bacon, please. Maybe a pancake or two, also.

Tinka Love seeing you here today. I've missed you and your little brown owl. (((HUGS)))

Goldie I sure hope your friend's hubby is able to rally and get healthy enough for surgery.

Mary Have you made all your kitchen decisions yet? I started by deciding on the cabinets style and color, then took samples around to help me pick out countertops, backsplash tile and new flooring. Gathering samples as I went, really helped me see how it would all look with each other.

scirish I hope this will be one of the good days. (((HUGS)))

Dianne You should call Mary. Maybe some of her good gambling mojo will rub off on you.

Carol I not only don't know where the year went, but I've been noticing lately how quickly one week is running into another. it really is true that the older you get, the faster it goes by. Maybe it's time dilation at work. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  40. TINKA...thank you. And I second exactly what MARY said!

    CAROL...sounds scrumptious!

  41. JUST LIN...thanks!

I am off to get my new license. Drats...gotta get a new pic taken! I hope they have a wide angle lens available.

    BBL.........

    ReplyDelete
  42. Justlin, yes I have been dragging samples around with me. I have scoured the internet for dishwashers. I think I will get the Bosch. I am going to look at more counter top colors. They are limited in quartz. I don't have a lot of counter space, so I can splurge in this area. As you stated, I have to make sure everything goes together.
I have one of those huge double door frigs. My contractor is going to build it into the wall. That will give me a little more room.
K, enough of my boring details lol.
    bbl
    Have a great day everyone!

  43. Thank you Mary and Maureen - I promise I will check in more often. I find it hard to concentrate on the topic of the day. I will try harder. Love, Tinka

  45. Just a quick fly-by; I just landed in Columbus and am about to meet the relatives!

Carol: Another of your on-the-mark blogs... loved it!

Hugging Goldie and Tinkatia. Goldie, that is a very frustrating situation for both of them to be in.

And Audrey... I keep hoping you'll have some better news, but please don't keep the bad news from us! We're in this thing called life together!

  46. Dianne if everyone agrees to a Halloween party, I think I could come up with something. But if you want supersoaker don't expect them to have water in them. ijs

  47. Hey feathered friends...once again, THANK YOU all so much for the birthday wishes, calls, messages, facebook comments and myspace comments and banners. When I can get to the library, I will write back to each of you.

I got really sick this evening. Started vomitting, coughing and burning up and then freezing so bad I was shaking. I'm hoping it is just a reaction to something I ate and not a flu...but I feel like SHIT! I know, TMI, but I wanted to explain why I was not here since this afternoon.

    Thanks again...Love you all.

  48. Mo: I'm so sorry I'm late wishing you a Happy Birthday..I wanted you to know that I hoped you had a wonderful day...but I'm really sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I sure hope that you feel better soon. {{{hugs}}}
