I Won't Back Down

By Tom Petty

Chosen by Just_Lin

Sometimes we just come to a point where we have to draw a line in the sand and stand our ground.

The other day when I got in my car, this was the first song that came on the radio. I immediately thought of our Whabbear and the frustration and anger that he expressed the other day about the election results. As much as I empathize and sympathize, I cannot really understand how he feels because I have never had to face discrimination or been denied rights that other citizens enjoy. His fight continues and I support him in that struggle. I decided to submit this as a Sunday Music Video and dedicate it to Bear.

I also dedicate it to the brave men and women at Ft. Hood and especially to Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley who faced down a killer and saved countless lives.

  1. Good Morning!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE!

J/LIN: Great song this morning..I loved the dedications. I'm not a real tough person, but if it's something I really believe in..or standing up for my friends..I can plant my feet and not budge..I really can..and I will.

  3. BIRRRDEEE!! You did way too much yesterday..I hope you can get some rest today!

I lifted Nikki off of the bed yesterday and really pulled something in my side..ended up in bed all day. The moral is..don't lift a 50lb dog that is wiggling all over the place..lol..

  4. HI BIRRDEE!! I had to crawl out of bed to make sure I still could..lol..

  5. Zona, sorry you hurt yourself...I feel for ya. I've had to try and lift my two out of the way. I'm not built to lift 50lbs, let alone 80!

I think once I get in the hot shower, I'll feel better.

  11. Good morning Mo, Tina, Birdee & Zona. J/Lin, I really liked your dedications.

I have a question. What happened in here last night?? It was a Porn-O-rama!

  12. Good Morning Hooters~

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE!

    Congrats on 1st Zonabaaaaaaaaaaaby!

J/L, great choice for the song. I am in total support of everyones rights a a human being-not as a black, gay, white, catholic, atheist or whatever. Like you Zona-I don't budge in those believes.

I think that saying you support someone or somthing is not enough. You must make your choices by looking deeper into how you lead your life and how you make decisions.

You cannot support 'freedom of choice' then vote for a politician whos goal it is to abolish it, as an example. Nor can you support equality for all then use derogatory remarks based on someones skin color or orientation. Well, you get my drift, stepping off my soapbox now.

Another great day her in Southern WI- GO PACKERS!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE!!!!

Congrats on 1st Zona. I hope your pain goes away soon!

Love this song JL and think the dedications are appropriate.

Today is our anniv. so tonight we will go to our fave restaurant for dinner.

Nothing else planned today except doing laundry, and planting some daffodil and tulip bulbs.

I tried to sleep in a little this morning, it is literally impossible around here with "pit kitty" (short for pit bull kitty) and a noisy birdee who wants out of his cage as soon as the sun comes up.

Hope everyone has a nice day today!

  23. Hi everybody!

J/L...I had't ever heard that song....but the dedications were very thoughtful. Equal rights for all is close to my heart and Ft. Hood is close to my house...

I remember..I think in 1991...a amna drove his truck into the dining room of Luby,s Cafeteria in Killeen...he got out of his truck and began to shoot people...he walked around the room randomly picking his victims....one young lady crouched with her elderly parents watched as he shot both her parents in the head...killing them. And I remember her saying...in interviews....that if only her gun had been in her purse instead of in the car....that she had several opportunities to stop that man early on......

And that was my first question about Ft. Hood....why did it take so long to take this guy down...but after seeing and reading everything... I know that it was handled as well as it could have been.

I have been thru the training and paid the fees for years to be licensed to carry a concealed weapon.....I have never even had a reason to show it (the gun)....but I feel better knowing that if in the unlikely event such as Luby's...McDonalds....hell its getting so frequent anymore that this list could be very long in regard to places where people start shooting innocent people....but if I were there and could get a clear shot....I feel better knowing that I have that option....

And some of you are thinking..."that crazy bitch will blow her foot off!!" lol

Actually I am a good shot....in the past whenever I have gotten married or remarried or re-re-remarried.....I always take my new hubby out to the shooting range....just to make sure he knows what he is dealing with....lol

  24. ZONA...maybe a stripper pole would be more fun to use to get down off the bed!! ijs!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thank-you, J/L. From the bottom of my heart.

  26. Good afternoon, HOoters!

I'm glad you all are enjoying the song and dedication. I really like the words and feel to the song. It's empowering in some way.

Tina It is NOTHING like "Stand By Your Man". And how many times was Tammy Wynette married? Seven? I don't think she stood very long....ijs.

DeeDee One of my step-daughters is a captain at Killeen P.D.

Zona Geez, how high do people think your bed is anyway, that you might need a slide or pole in order to get down? LOL

    Birdee Are you still raking?

MO I hope you enjoyed your sunshine.

    Bonach Thanks. :)

Goldie Did you hear me clapping?

EBJ HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I hope you have a wonderful time at dinner tonight.

LynnD I hope it helps you, too.

Tinka Congrats on 25! I hope you're having a lovely afternoon.

Dianne HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you're having a great day!

  27. Hi Everyone....GOLDIE AND JODIE: I am feeling your pain this afternoon after watching GB lose to Tampa Bay!!! Doesn't it just make you mad to not only lose but to a team that hasn't won? TB was acting like they just won the damn Super Bowl. GOLDIE: I hope your party was still lots of fun.

Thank you so much for the Birthday song, wishes on here and Facebook and MySpace. I really appreciate it. TINA AND JODI:... Your early AM songs were just beautiful..well, one better than the other but I am just saying..no names (don't tell JODI that I already told you).

ZONA: Hope you are feeling better today. You are 50....settle down girl!

J/L...I don't know this song but I like your dedication. I think we all need to stand up for what we believe. I think I was just having a conversation with my 9yr granddaughter about this the other night. They had to vote a person for Student Council and she voted against her friend ..because her other friend told her to do it, and then she told the one she voted against! I was trying to explain all that to her.

Well, I get to go out to dinner tonight so I need to get out the door soon. It will be an early dinner and we are going to a place that gives you the percent off your meal for your age...so 63% off .. I am a cheat date!

Thanks again for all the notes.

  28. I hope everyone's had a wonderful Sunday. We are taking care of one last order of business, then we'll be trekking back home.

There have been several flying people but so far, I am not one of them.

DeeDee, I respect that guns deter crime. I believe in it. For myself though, I prefer to remain unarmed. My charm, exceedingly good looks, vibrant personality and sweet disposition are my weapons. Who am I kidding? If I did have a gun, I'm the first person I'd take out.

  29. Hi Everyone!!
just flying in to see how you all are doing.

The birthday party was nice and Jaz was very happy.

J/L, when I picked Jaz's card there was an insert with it that reminded me of you and everyone here. You mentioned hummingbird's the other day....
    This is what it said.....

"Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation."

    Happy Sunday Owls.

I have been busy non-stop yesterday and today and this is the first chance I have had to check in. It looks like all is well.

Bonachichi, did you see my post the other day when you mentioned that you were going to Nipomo? I hope your trip was a successful one.

Dianne, I hope your birthday has been a good one and filled with joy and love.

Waving to all the other Owls and hoping you all had a great day.

  35. I'm in Pacifica. My daughter and I went out for dinner. I had a great Bloody Mary and a delicious prime rib dinner with creamed spinach, rich and heavenly scalloped potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and a spinach and pear salad. I brought half of it home for dinner tomorrow. It was sooooo good!

  36. Ah, home, sweet home! SacBarb, I did see your post about Nipomo! My trips there always involve working around bulls and in sand dunes that may as well be the Sahara desert.

I saw a man lasso a goat whilst riding a horse. I tried to lasso a wooden sawhorse whilst standing on the ground and I suck.

    Goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone!

  39. Mary You're probably too tired for the real thing, anyway. What color did you decide to go with for the kitchen paint?

  40. Good evening Ladies, and I use that term loosely.

    Congrats Mary on your 69.

And speaking of that, I was at a Sorority Lunch today and the keynote speaker started her talk by saying there are three rules involving a lay. First, you must NEVER refuse a lay. I was so distracted by that statement that I didn't hear the other two. Then she took out of a bag, a flowery thing and put it around her neck, and it was then I realized she was talking about a LEI. Apparently the theme of the Lunch was something tropical. IDK, I lost interest and zoned (or Zona'd) out.
