Our first In-n-Out Burger opened on Thursday. I thought it would be so fun to take the kids since it's the first place we go to eat every time we go to California. A friend of mine from work has a son who works near the restaurant and called us to say that the wait was 2 hours. No way was I going to wait that long for a burger! I found out later that people slept in tents to be the first in line when they opened. Now I love their hamburgers, but not for breakfast and surely (that's for you, Carol!) not enough to sleep outside in 30 degree weather. That's just crazy!
I knew better than to try going on Friday or Saturday, but I thought that since the Mormons stay home on Sunday's and only venture out to go to church, we would be in the clear. I took the boys Sunday afternoon.......drove by and waived to the people standing outside waiting to get in, and drove on down the road to McDonald's......only because we were starving! We were disappointed, but since we were going to 7pm mass, I thought maybe, just maybe, we’d try one more time after church. Well the planets must have aligned themselves (not in the 2012 way!), because when we finally got there around 9pm, there were just a few (10) cars in the drive thru and only a couple of people in line inside. Of course, it had been snowing for 3 straight hours by then, the roads were horrible, and it was late.
Can I just tell you…..it was SO hard for me not to groan and say out loud how orgasmic that first bite of my burger was! The look on my kids’ faces said that they were thinking along the same lines……well sorta….ykwim! My youngest ordered two hamburgers, my oldest ordered three (one for lunch at school the next day!), and hubby and I ended up going back and ordering one more each…..definitely not on our diets, but so yummy!
Since then, many of my friends have tried to go, but the wait is just too long. I don’t know what it is about their hamburgers that makes people willing to hang out in line outside in the freezing cold! I just know that they are scrumptious and so are their fries~ If you find yourself in California, Nevada, Arizona, or Utah, make it a point to try them out~ …..but quite frankly, if you’re in Utah…..I’m taking you there anyway~ :D
:)~
ReplyDeleteBitch!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate you Tina!!
ReplyDeleteTina, are you talking about Inn-N-Out burger or sex with my old man? Congrats on being first again on another of your own posts, ho! :)
ReplyDeleteTina maybe they use the same ingredient Goldie uses in her brownies. ijs:)
ReplyDeleteOh and congrats on 1st...NOT!!!
Good morning, Shirley!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a great holiday! xoxo
P.S. Dianne, thanks for the comment! Big goofy grin in your general direction!

ReplyDeleteWho said it was a compliment?
ReplyDeleteJanice I am a very nice person. Tina just brings out the worst in me. Have a lovely day Janice! Eat dirt Tina!
ReplyDeletelmbo shirley~ I fell asleep~ I haven't taken a call yet today......been available for an hour! ....and i have a migraine to beat all migraines....reading with one eye open.....i feel like DeeDee~ :D

ReplyDeleteTina!
ReplyDeleteSo Tacky~ :O)
Shirley!
You tell her!
LL!
Def sex!
Never had a in n out burger.. Love the pics..
ReplyDeleteA Sonic opened up near my home during the summer, and the line was crazy, crazy. There were accidents all the time as ppl were fighting. Cops were posted at the entrance and also helped with crowd control. My SSO and I tried to go several times, but he is def not a waiter in line kinda guy, so we passed it by each time. Finally in September we were driving by and there was no line, SSO made a quick turn into it, and pulled up next to those talky thingy's, after much reading and discussing we ordered (burgers). We both love food, so I have to say we were excited..
The food comes by way of young person on skates with a smile. We immed rip open the bag and dug in..
OMG.. it was AWFUL, the absolutely worst food we ever had.. two bites each, and in the garbage everything went..
It amazes me tho, as the place is crowded all the time, I just don't get what the draw is..
Has anyone ever had In n Out and Sonic? is In n Out better than Sonic?
Morning nesters! I had to get up way too early to make sure I was up when my cabinets arrived. They came about an hour ago.I feel a nap coming on!
ReplyDeleteTina, you are a burger nut! I don't think we have those here in Mich.
I do love a good buger though!
Waving at Shirley,NoNewz, & Carol~~~~
Oh Carol~ Sonic is nasty~ my kids seem to like it....but YUCK!
ReplyDeletemary~ so glad ur cabinets arrived! And i'm totally glad you like a good buger....but what about a good burger?~ :D
In-N-Out?? Are you kidding me? We have several; they're all around here. Never had one, though. They're meat. I am told that they're yummy-tastic, though. Congrats on popping your Utah In-N-Out cherry, Tina!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st tina~ and on your in-n-out. Get your mind out of the gutter- I was talking about the burgers!
Never had one, but have heard all the hype. Will get one when I am out in SF hopefully. I always heard about all the hype with White Castle too- so was excited when I tried my 1st one. Still trying to figure out all the hype on that one! Same with Sonic- they came to town last year. Couldn't wait to try them- bummer, they are nothing to write home about either.
Shirley- you reminded me. I am making a HUGE batch of Thanksgiving brownies to share with all my Hooter friends. ENJOY!!
From area 52-Thanks Mo, I think you rock too!
Have a good hump (day) everyone-and if I don't get back on I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe if you are traveling.
Tina,eeeeeuuuuuwwww. I can't believe I wrote "buger"!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnacci & Goldie!!
Waving an afternoon wing at Mary, Tina, Shirley, Carol, Goldie, Bonachichi, The Boss and Janice!
ReplyDeleteFor all you NUT lovers, I rereleased the turkey testicle festival video. Get your good eats at Home Fires. :P
Happy Hump Day Owls.
ReplyDeleteTina, I have had In N Out burgers and they are good. They also have a secret menu and if you know the code you can ask for 'special' burgers. My son always asks for an animal (I think) but I don't know what that really means. Maybe it's the one with the 'special' ingredient that Shirley was talking about. Do you know the code?
Tina, Even with a migraine you got first. You are good.
ReplyDeleteShirley, Sorry you missed first bythismuch.
Carol, we have both Sonic and In N Out and I'm not that crazy about Sonic either.
NN/LL I'll have to check out the turkey testicles.
Mary, Yay for your cabinets.
Goldie, thanks for the brownies.
Waving to all the other Owls. I'm off to get my nails done. BBL
Happy Thanksgiving eve!
ReplyDeleteTINA: Mr Z loves In n Out..In n Out..In n Out..so do I! ;)
Seriously though..he's a California boy..and to his way of thinking..there is no better hamburger. When they opened out here there were the same kinds of lines..and that was in the summer! Whenever we go there, it's crowded..so they must be doing something right!
I remember the time you and I went to one out here TINA..and the guy actually brought you your food..but made me go get mine..not fair..annnd..wasn't your number 69? ;)
Yummy blog today TINA..thank you!
TINA: Congrats on FIRST! I hope your migraine goes away fast..
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: The secret ingredient must be in the ketchup..people at In N Out usually fill up 4 or 5 containers with the stuff! :D
CAROL: SONIC is all about the drinks..we've never actually eaten there.
BARB: I'm gonna google the code! :D
LL/NN: I love Home Fires..will be checking out the video this evening!
MARY: Yay! New cabinets! Will the carpenter be coming back to help you fill them? ;)
BONACHI: Mr Z's other SIL orders a 'grilled cheese' at In n Out..that's everything BUT the meat..
GOLDIE: Brownies! I can't wait!
AREA 51:
MO: The dentist poked, prodded and pricked me..boy was I sore when I got home! ;)
BARB: Got it! :D

ReplyDeleteIt has been a good day to be home. Yucky rainy weather here today.
I took Matthew and Carolyn for their yearly physicals. They are both healthy and sassy.
Philip seems to be a little under the weather today.
Going back to the dentist this afternoon..it's Mr Z's turn..OUCH!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a great day!
JENNIFER: Awww..I'm sorry to hear Philip isn't feeling well..I hope he is better soon.
ReplyDeleteYay for Matthew and Carolyn!
Afternoon Owls....and Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I am getting ready to prepare my dressing for the dinner tomorrow to take to Tammys. I have a few other things I am bringing too but noting too time consuming.,
ReplyDeleteI love Sonic and we don't have In and Out here. I never even heard of it before I visited your ZONA and you and TINA took me there. I like it. I like the drinks at Sonic and I like their breakfast burrito (served all day) with their tater tots.
I got my H1N1 shot today. The doctor called me yesterday and said she had gotten a few more in and that I was on the hi risk list because of my breathing issues so I went in this afternoon. I hope they don't figure out some crazy effects on this thing down the road a year or two!
My husband arrived safe and sound in Virginia Beach last night. His place was over an hour late and his mother was beside herself with worry. I am glad he is there to spend some time with her and he and his sister can kind of evaluate her status as she is really slipping. Very sad.
I spent my first "single" day yesterday going to the dentist, meeting my really close friend for a three hour lunch (we had to cut it short) and then my niece for dinner and then went roaming around a new empty Target and picked up some things. I left yesterday at 8:30AM to take my husband to the airport and didn't get home until 9:30 last night and then relaxed and watched DWTS. I loved the show and the outcome and have to admit I did vote for the winner the night before!
TINA: Sorry you aren't feeling good. Didn't you have this a couple of days ago too when you talked me into going on "our" island and harvesting for you?
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: FROM AREA 51.....SO, you are going to soak me? You are teasing me with the pancakes....why are you mad at me? I am the one that should be mad..you make special things for others, you party in the nest and leave a big mess with even fried poop laying around. These drastic changes in you have all come since your birthday. Old age is not agreeing with you at all.
I do hope all of you have a great and Happy Thanksgiving. Do any of you get up and watch the parade in the AM? My dad always got us up for that our whole life (even called early after I was on my own to remind me) and then would tell me the story about how when I was two he took me to the parade and I sat on his shoulders to watch it. I will be setting the alarm or the dvr to watch it and isn't this strange....I still get that excited feeling when Santa comes at the end? I must be very strange!
Ok,, see ya' all later.
Mary, I happen to be an authority on the word you spell, "buger". I claim my knowledge by way of spending time with men who devote a great portion of their lives to them. It is in fact, a booger. So you are safe.
ReplyDeleteTina, I used to get migranes and once in a while my doc would throw up his hands and give me a shot. If you don't mind being stoned out of your gourd, saying things you shouldn't and walking like you've been twirled around a zillion times, it's not bad.
ReplyDeleteBonachichi that's what she's like anyway!
ReplyDeletetIN-And out in UT...grats on 1st...and with a migraine no less!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have In and Out here, but we have Sonic and I have never been there. The whole time I lived in L.A, I never had an In-n-Out. I had my first one when I was there on vacation in 2000. I always like Carl's Jr. Chicken sandwich with sprouts and fried zucchini slices!
SHIRLEY...Good try. It was close.
GOLDIE...my, my. We haven't had your special brownies in ages! Yummmo!
ZONA...pumpkin pie still not on the menu? Did Monkey bread get added to it?
MARY...how are the new cabinets? And how was the delivery guy? LOL!
DIANNE...It's nice that Mr. D spends the holiday with his mom. And I'm glad that you have Tammy's to go to.
NO NEWZ...your old man must be really talented to have sex with Tina from near across the country! Are the family staying home or going to MO?
CHI CHI...still trying to imagine the 4 turkeys, garbage bag full of stuffing and a zillion taters! How many stoves do you have???
CAROL...how are you feeling? R U still full of snot? Please don't drip on Sarah's fixings!
Mo, I had two full size ovens, 6 burners. A BBQ (which I accidentally loaded with double the amount of briquets) and a meat smoker.
ReplyDeleteDespite my fear of most all food, I am quite a decent cook.
Oh, Mo; Let me clarify about the Hefty bags. It wasn't one. I needed 2. Of those green 32 gallon jobbers.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in knowing what everyone's plans are for Thanksgiving. I'm going to In-N-Out.
Evening Glories!
ReplyDeleteTina that looks so good! I have never eaten at an in an out. So I don't know if you are telling me the truth or not. LOL
I have been gone since 7:30 this morning and ran home at 2:00 to pick Mr. Lynn D up to do the grossery shopping. Crazzzzzy Ass People out there! Mr. Lynn D is one of them. He kept doing his wandering off trick. My back is killing me as we handed out the last Thanksgiving baskets and turkeys at the food bank today and Mr. Lynn D wants to wander the grossry store! WTH???
I caught up on facebook and now I am heading to bed!
Mary if you see this I went to my Cafe in Cafe World and it asked me to help out at your Cafe. I may have to call the health dept. You have boiled over pots and ruined food and there was even a fly circling!
I ate there so if I have food poisoning in the morning I am coming after you! :)
Dianne: Good for your Hubby for making the trip! Do you have Thanksgiving plans with family tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteTina: We ate at In-n-Out once, and didn't think the burgers were any big deal. I still like Harvey's (Canada) the best!
OMG, we still don't have any Thanksgiving dinner plans in Palm Springs... looks like it will be just me and Huz cooking a ham!
Leave it to a Canadian to screw up Thanksgiving. It's turkey Whab, you dolt! Ham's at Christmas!
ReplyDelete49
ReplyDelete50
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY...WAKE UP and mark that down!!
ReplyDeleteWHABBY...a quiet Thanksgiving with just you and Huz sounds like a great tradition to begin.
CHI CHI...that was like catering!
LYNN...next holiday, give Mr. Lynn the keys and let him gross-ry shop alone! How many families did the food bank feed for Thanksgivng this year?
Hey Bonachichi I'm Canadian and we don't screw up Thanksgiving! A few transplanted ones might, but the majority of us don't!

MO: I'm making Monkeybread! I bought the pecans tonight..no pumpkin pie this year.
BEAR: We're only 3-4 hours away! :)
CAROL: I hope you feel better soon..no fun being sick on a regular day..but at the holidays that just sucks big time!
LYNN: I don't think people are even seeing each other in the stores..they all kind of have this vacant stare..
Strawberry Cheesecake is done! :D
ReplyDeleteZONA...YAY for monkey bread! I bet it will be even more awesome with the pecans! I love pecans. I can't wait to hear what you think about it!
ReplyDeletePumpkin pie is done, turkey cleaned, & giblets simmering. This old bird needs to get to bed!
ReplyDeleteLynnD, I only added Cafe` world to give gifts. I keep forgetting it's there. I thought I deleted it.
That kitchen is closed. I am not responsible for your possible demise lol!
MO, & Zona. One delivery guy was cute. I didn't like his partner. He made me nervous. He kept staring inside our garage where the cabinets were stored, while I was signing his receipt.
Bonacci, Thanks for clarifying buger/booger lol!!
Diane/Denver, It was good that Mr Diane visited his Mom. I hope he has a better flight home. Travel must be a mess this week!
I am heading to FB and then to bed, It is too late to pardon our turkey, so I have to cook him up lol! Have a great day everyone.
A special wave to all the sweet lurkers~~~~~ :):):)
***wham, slam, bop* get your damn hands off my pancakes, ZONA!! Did you not see the note that they were made for only me? Go eat your elephant bread or whatever you call it.... not my pancakes. Do you have any idea how long I have been "whining-in-
ReplyDeleteDenver" about these pancakes? I think since the Broncos won their last came and that was ages ago. The one you took..I spit on it as I saw you coming into the room all sneaky....so there....
SHIRLEY: Thank you very much for the nice midnight snack. They are wonderful and even better than in the past and the eggnog ones are even beating out I-HOP, You are one sweet gal...even if TINA does get mad at you every AM.
I have my stuffing made and kitchen all cleaned up and the rest of my food duties packed for tomorrow. Yes BEAR, i am going to my daughters.
My husband's mom is just not doing great mentally so I feel that it is important for him to go every year at least to spend time with her and his sister and daughters live there too so it is a nice visit for him. He will be home next Tuesday night.
Ok, now I have to get to bed to be up in time to watch the parade. Happy Thanksgiving to all because it is after midnight here.
SHIRLEY, thanks again. ZONA, you can get up off the floor now. I promise I won't smack you again as it is a holiday now.
I hope everyone has a nice Hanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteMo -- thanks for reminding me about monkey bread. We're going to have that in the morning. :
I really meant Thanksgiving. LOL
ReplyDeleteTINA - Don't have In N Out here. Sonic opened here, but I've heard it's nothing special. I'll stick with my Culver's Butter Burgers....total yummo!!!
ReplyDeleteWishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!! I have to work this morning, then we are going to my Aunt Jane's. My Dad, brother, and my Grandma will be there. So thankful that I can spend another holiday with Dad!!!
JODI: I am so glad to see you are still wearing your Bronco clothes. Now I am sure you know that the Bronco national game is on tonight at 6pm my time. I only hope we don't embarrass ourselves! Happy Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteHow sad the health dept. closed Mary's Cafe. :(
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HAPPY THANKGIVING EVERYONE!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be going to my mom's.
My long lost sister called and said she'll be there. Mom doesn't know it though. Guess she decided to show because she didn't get her yearly invite. She's one of those that say's she'll be there and never show's up. I was surprised to hear from her, since I haven't heard from her in month's and month's.
Good thing we sound alike, otherwise I wouldn't have recognized her voice.
My mom just called last night to tell me what time....nothing like last minute info...ha!
Sorry I've been MIA lately. :o(
Carol, I hope you feel better.
I don't know if we have an In N Out burger place here. We do have Sonic. It's ok...If I do have one of those, I usually take a few bites and give the rest to the dog's. They love 'em!
Have a Great day Everyone!
Love ya!
