Holiday Nut!

Are the days going by fast for everyone or is it just me? Each day I have to double check the date, because I am in totally disbelief. I tried to be so organized so I would be ready for this Holiday month. However it did not work out as planned. So now I find myself rushing around trying to get all the stuff done that needs to get done. I think the problem is there is to much stuff to do. I know I put to much pressure on myself and it would be a lot easier if I did not do what is perhaps expected of me. But then, well, that would not be me.

So as much as I try to slow it down, or not do certain stuff over the Holiday it is not going to happen. I will just continue on my crazy quest of being the typical Holiday Nut, or as I am better know "The Crazy Lady". I just hope that whoever comes in my path will forgive my craziness. And if not, maybe they will join me in my craziness. But wait, they might already be there!

:O)

  1. Hmmm I detect a pattern here. Tina did not do the blog so she did not get first.

  2. Morning glories!

Carol I am at crazy with you. It is an interesting destination and I really wish someone would just have me committed and medicated. Oh how happy I would be.

The last two months have just flown by and my list this month keeps getting longer even tho my shopping list has gotten smaller. I just don't get it. This week will be crazy mad but with vodka I will get through it. Either that or I will drink so much I just won't care. Now there's a plan. Must see if I have plenty of mixer in the house.

  8. Morning Lynn D! Congrats on 1st!

    Morning Tina, Janice and Carol!

This month hasn't been crazy for me because I haven't done anything for Xmas. I am mailing out cards tomorrow and I will get a little something for my siblings and mum but that's it. My unemployment cheques have stopped and what I have banked has to see me through till tax time.

  10. Good Morning Hooters!
    Congrats on 1st Lynn.

Diego is on tv and the munchkins are entertained for a few minutes.

No one told me that I needed to get into training for this gig! LOL

Yesterday was Santa, McDonalds, Baths, make Christmas presents for the parents, grocery shopping...

Today we decorate the small tree, bake cookies and go deliver some presents. I'm tired already-but loving it!

I was totally organized and done with Christmas shopping, but I am having a party here on Saturday- all of our families and friends and I have not a dang thing yet to get ready. No food, no cleaning, no nadda. OY

Hope everyone has a good day- chances are slim to none that I will get back on. Mr. Goldie is leaving me to go to work for awhile to see some clients and its just me and Pepper against the whirly dervishes!!!

  11. Oh, Carol! I thought it was just me... biting off more than I can chew. I am looking forward to 2 days (after today) where I don't HAVE to be somewhere, although I am still on call -- hopefully people will leave me alone.

This is supposed to be a "slow" time of year for my work. Someone forgot to get that memo to my clients, though. I miss stopping in throughout the day. Miss all you guys!

Hope the holiday spirit is with all of you!

  12. Sure Tina Sure. By the way you look beauuuutiful today!

Carol vodka vodka vodka. Cranberry juice mixer or a Bloody Mary. Decisions.

Goldie I can just picture you the dervishes and Pepper running around. Makes me smile.

  14. Good morning LynnD,Tina, Goldie,Shirley JustLynn, & Carol!!

Carol, My list has gotten smaller, but more expensive as kids/Grand kids grow up!
I too am a "crazy lady"! Add to the Christmas mix an unfinished kitchen & you REALLY have a "crazy lady" lol!!
I make lists, lists, lists! I cross things off as I do them, then I feel like I have accomplished something.

I got up early after going to bed late. I wanted to be up in case my workers showed up early...NOT! It's 11:00 no one here....

Almost noon, the door bell rang. It was the electrician, then my contractor showed up, I forgot I was on line lol!

So, forgive me if I missed some one...bbl

  17. Carol - I have never been so far behind and I don't like that feeling of stress. I usually start right after Halloween but this year some rooms are not going to be decorated. It still looks pretty nice if I do say so myself. My whole family has been helping me and I still have things to do that are usually done by now.

  18. Happy Monday Owls.

Carol, I am already there, right with you! And to top it off, Christmas day plans are STILL up in the air. I always cook the traditional Italian dinner on Christmas Eve and I volunteered to cook for Christmas day also, but no decision has been made yet. My son's FIL died last year on Dec. 12, and Dean isn't sure what his MIL wants to do. None of us want to pressure her into making a decision, so I wait. It's OK, though. I understand what she is going through.

I did get stuff in the mail last Wednesday, and my Uncle in New York called me on Friday to say his package arrived. I was shocked because I just sent it the cheapest way 'cause I had plenty of time.

I am going to try to get all the gifts I have bought so far, wrapped today. We'll see how that goes. :D

    ReplyDelete
  19. My tree this year is Spruce. I usually grow Douglas fir but this one was a present in a little pot about 10 years ago. I think my lawyer gave it to me.
That Christmas smell of spruce is all through my house. Snow is predicted for tonight so it's easy to have that Christmas spirit.

  20. I must get busy so "Have a great day everyone".

  21. Good Morning SacBarb - You came to the nest while I was typing. Have fun today.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I haven't read the comments yet. I am watching Regis and Kelley and I want to smack the guest who is showing cheap Christmas gifts and playing his GUITAR T-SHIRT. There's a gift every mother would love her teenager to have....NOT!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lynn, You are our early bird today. LOL @ your description of the icy roads. I have found that the grape (fermented of course) has helped me get through this crazy time.

Wildly waving a wing also to Tina, Shirley, J/L, Goldie, Bonachichi, Mary, Tinka, Carol and all who land later. Gonna go wrap now.

    From A51
J/L, I ushered for Cinderella yesterday. They alternate this show with Christmas Carol for the Christmas show. I like Cinderella better because it is very funny. The step-mother and step-sisters are always played by three guys in drag, and they inter-act with the kids in the audience. The kids love it.

  24. Good Morning!

CAROL: Let's see, we still have gifts to buy, dozens and dozens and dozens of cookies to make, packages to mail and my cards are only about 25% done. Yep, looks like it's going to be a race to to the finish again.

I've been noticing for a couple years now that the summer drags on and on until Labor day..and then I turn around twice and we've slid right into Christmas! The older I get, the faster time flies. I remember it taking forever for Christmas to get here when I was a kid..now it's here and gone much too quickly. I miss being able to enjoy all the Christmas celebrations around the city..there just isn't time anymore. Life moves much too quickly it seems and I'm not sure I like that..

    ReplyDelete
  25. Zona: I couldn't agree more with you and Carol! I remember many years as a teenager and young adult when I couldn't properly enjoy the Christmas season because Christmas exams were in the way. Now, I can't fully appreciate it because time goes by too fast!

  27. Moring Hooters! Amazed to see me up so early, right? I have a nail appt and then I am coming home and sorting through what I have purchased and then start wrapping. The key to this whole story is that I don't sit at the computer BEFORE I start my afternoon chores.

CAROL; I used to feel like you when I was working and thought "if only I didn't have to go to work" I could get this done early....NOT. I am just as rushed and stressed as when I worked. I find this to be with everything since I retired. I guess I always think there is tomorrow. I have never been such a procrastinator until I quit working.

LYNN; Glad to see you slid in to first. I'm surprised TINA doest just have Janice sign in for her if she isn't there yet. Oh no, now I probably gave her a new idea....DON'T DO IT JANICE!!
I also was wondering why you are looking for a mix for your vodka. I was thinking of a flask for your Christmas gift (well for a few of us) and then it could just be in the purse ready for an emergency. You would be so relaxed all day! :)

Ok, off to get nails done and then home to farm...whoops...I mean sort and wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  28. LYNN: Congrats on FIRST! How'd you do that? ;)

BARB: When you wrote "Gonna go wrap now.." I got this image of you gettin' down with a beat box..! :D

TINKA: We always had a real Christmas tree when we lived in California..I would love to have one here too..but it's much too dry..so we settle for an artificial one and a pine candle. Somehow..that's not quite the same.. ;)

TINA: LOL@ trying to get your cards done between yellings..

J/L: You type well from bed! :D

GOLDIE: Having little kids around during the holiday season makes it so much more fun..just to see the wonder and excitement in their faces..I love it!

MARY: I make lists too!! Then I lose them! ;)

BONACHI: Don't you know that the minute you hope someone leaves you alone..they're going to call? ;)

Good Morning SHIRLEY! I'm so postally challenged..it's a wonder anything gets to where it's supposed to go by New Years! Good on you for getting your cards out!

BEAR: I thought I'd have more time to enjoy the holidays as I got older..now it seems time goes faster..hmmm..didn't you teach us about this? ;)

Delete was mine..need to proofread better.. ;)

  29. DIANNE: Looks like you do things in the right order..kinda..sorta.. ;)

  30. Amen Sistah! The days are going much too fast. I've bought nary a gift, we have no tree but I do have my mistletoe panties, so it's not a total loss. :P

Heavy hearted the last few days. Will not bring down the blog with details.

  31. It is after 2:00 here. The contractor and plumber have left, got tired of waiting for the counter top guys! I am not a happy camper!
The tree guy just left too. We had this humongous mulberry tree close to our patio. Every year the berries would draw different birds, squirrels, and raccoons. Problem was that the berries would land on the patio by the millions, the berries would get fermented and the birds would get drunk and slam into our windows and crap on our cars! It had to be at least 40ft high. I was nervous watching the guy work the saw so high up. Anyhooo, it is down and I am happy about that. Hopefully I will have my kitchen done by Wed. which happens to be my Birthday :)
LynnD, Pass the Vodka please lol!

  32. Hooray the counter top guys just pulled in......

  33. This morning my stooopid dogs got a bird. It was a big ass crow. Seriously big, nearly as big as the dumb dogs! He was longer than my forearm and if you looked at the luncheon photo from my post last week, you saw I have a pretty good wingspan.

It had puncture wounds and everything. I'm a dumb sucker who now probably has encephalitis because I scooped that fucker up in a towel and brought it in the house. After I warmed him and he was out of shock, I wrapped the bad wing, put ointment on the wounds, which I got to stop bleeding with a cold rag (in the trash now with my towel) gave him bird seed, bread and sugar water, set it in a box with a heat lamp, and that SOB pulled the dressing off his wing, jumped out of the box, flew into the window, flew into the wall, hopped around like an emo kid at a rock concert, and proceeded to shit on the pile of folded laundry… the WHOLE LOAD. I have since evicted the crow from my home. He has now found his way into the tree above my car, where he is no doubt reloading his ass to drop another bomb.

Waving an annoyed wing to Lynn, Tina, Carol, Shirley, Lin, Goldie, Bonochicacaboomboom, Mary, Tink, Barb, Zona, Bear, Dianne and all who fly in later, watch out for windows and walls when flying in. An owl can learn a lot from a crow.

  34. %#_(%!+$#^% He drove into the grass that is soaked from snow and rain and got stuck. We have a driveway dingo!!

  35. Hear that? Listen carefully..hear it? Me either- they are napping!!

No one told me I should go into training for this... LOL

So far we made 4 batches of different cookie doughs to be baked later. Unwrapped and ate a LOT of hershey kisses for the peanut bloosom cookies and we painted more ornaments. Mr. Goldie came home and cleaned up all the mess for me!

They are so much fun and so happy doing the little things. I'm really proud of mom too- she has only called 3 times so far! This is the first time away this far and this long.

Yesterday when we went to see Santa, he told them to look and smile at 'Mommy" while she takes our picture. I thanked him profusely for the compliment, but said I was Grandma. The old duffer made my day!! teehee

    ReplyDelete
  36. NoNewz, you & I are having a shitty
    day lol!! Literally!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Aw Goldie, you are def. a young looking Grandma! Have fun with them, they grow up so fast!

    ReplyDelete
  38. LL/NN: I'm sorry about your laundry..but LOL! Your bird story reminds me of the time my mom found a pigeon floating in the pool. She scooped it out and then went into the house to get a plastic bag so she could throw it into the garbage. When she came back out the pigeon was walking drunkenly around the backyard. It was winter, and she thought the poor thing just needed to warm up..and it would be fine..so she used the net to scoop it up and bring it in the house. When my dad came home from work..the damn bird flew up, landed on shoulder then jumped onto his bald head and pooped! The look on his face! He calmly asked my mom 'So where did this little shit come from..?' We laughed so hard..omg..

    ReplyDelete
  39. MARY: Not a big fan of Mulberry trees..the people behind us had one and there were always these big berries in the pool..mulberry berries I mean.. ;)

Dad's cancer is in Stage IV, due to the fact that it has moved outside his lung. It is also in his lower spine. Dad has elected to have chemo (versus doing nothing) and he starts on Wednesday. Thank you for keeping Dad in your prayers!

  60. Mary How exciting that your countertops are finally in! I can hardly wait to see pics.

NN/LL I loved your crow story! That's great that you tended to its wounds. You are a brave one to do that. Crows are huge and intimidating. Sometimes I see them walking down the street like they own the place.

  61. SacBarb I can't even visualize a guitar t-shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  62. J/L, I couldn't believe it either. It's a t-shirt with a guitar on the front and it will actually play. I guess it has a battery pack somewhere. It sounds crappy and is very loud. I think it sells for under $50.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I just got home from my son's. Today is his birthday and his wife invited me for dinner. We are actually celebrating here on Saturday with the rest of the family. He has requested beef stroganoff (sp?) for dinner.

I drove around a little on the way home looking for Christmas lights & decorations, but there aren't many houses in my son's neighborhood or mine that are decorated.

I hope everyone had a good day. Good night and sweet dreams to you all.

  64. Seconding Shirley's hugs to cancer sufferers or who have family members who are afflicted.

Why don't we steer 10% of this country's military budget to cancer research? That would be... OMG... about 50 billion dollars!

Sacbarb: Sorry about the lack of decorations! Are they down this year compared to other years?
