Last Day of 2009

Gosh, I can't believe a year has gone by, so many memories have been made, new beginnings surfaced, life is a year older. When I think back of this last year, I remember sadness, laughter, confusion, hope. I guess that is truly what every year is like, so many emotions packed into 365 days. We can never know what a new year will bring. But what we do know is that we can always hope, because with hope anything is possible.

I am so very grateful for my family and the joy they bring me. Especially my Italian Stallions, for if not for them, I would not be me. I am also very grateful for all of you, and the joy you all bring me each and every day. I am certainly looking forward to May 2010. We started this blog on 1/10/08, so we will be venturing into our third year. I wonder what surprises the manor has in store for us in 2010!

2010 is the year I turn 50, it is certainly a milestone. I am feeling quite melancholy tho, as I did not accomplish what I thought I would by now. This is something I need to come to terms with. I will hope 2010 brings me the answers that I have been searching for.

A special New Year Blog will post tonite @ 12:00am (1/1 est) this blog will stay up till a new blog is posted on 1/2.

Happy New Years Eve!

  3. Carol in some ways my year was great, because it was steady with no real major surprises. Then there were the moderate frustrations and general pain in the ass things, soon forgotten and moving on. I also experienced happiness and joy, sadness and sorrow but like you said, like most years. Somehow I think getting older has smoothed out some of the bumps, yet made some of the worries intensified. Does that make sense???

I really am hoping for a wonderful 2010 for all of my Family and Friends, but I know when it is going rough I have this Owl haven to fly to and I will always find a nest full of compassionate, fun, silly, crazy owls to pick me up and dust me off!

    Love you guys!

  6. Happy New Year!!!

    Congrats on 1st sexy....

2009 has been a year of ups and downs. Mostly ups for us, but downs for many I love. Too many people I care for lost loved ones. Money is an issue for so many too-
I am painfully aware of the suffering that some go thru due to striff with family (again, not me but some I care about).

On a good note, I spent more time then ever with my Grandkids, I still adore my husband and I am still upright. Hoping for that and more next year!

Leaving town for the New Years- will be back on Saturday. Hope you all have a dang good time and welcome the New Year in good health, love, peace and happiness.

    xxoo

  8. 2009 hasn't been the greatest, but I'm not sure 2010 will be any better. Having said that I am glad to still have mum with us. Next year this time I don't think I will be able to say that. Dealing with mum and her illness have proven to be an emotional roller coaster ride. I have lost it a few time and you guys have always been there for me. Thank you. ((HUGS))

To any of you who have been on the recieving end of one of my snowballs or supersoakers I apologize and promise I won't hit you in 2010 (fingers crossed that they buy that...hehehe!).

To any of you who have suffered loss this year I want to send you super duper (((HUGS)))

Thank you Owls for letting me be a part of your lives. Have a very Happy New Year!!!!!

  9. Happy New Year's Eve!

CAROL: We've had the same kinds of ups and downs this year. Of the downs..I always say..as long as it's fixable..it's ok. The only thing I hope for in 2010 is that the year goes smoothly..if we can get through it without any major drama..I'll be more than satisfied!

Speaking of satisfied...one tradition continues..the moose horn gets blown at midnight! ;)

As of January 1,2010 I will no longer be keeping daily stats. I know, I know, how will we survive without them? Dry your tears. It will be ok. Just think of all the less injuries we will have. No more stampedes to get to 69. No more lost sleep to be 1st. I will post the final stats of 2009 tomorrow. Thanks for indulging me and my stats for the past year. MUAH!!!

Tinka, A day at the Spa sounds wonderful and relaxing.

  20. Zona, Thanks for all the laughs and for all your help this year. ♥ U.

  21. Carol, This year wouldn't have been as good as it was without your dedication to the nest and to the Owls. Thanks so much for continuing to nurture us and the nest.

I so appreciate this place and everyone in it. I hope you all have a happy and healthy 2010. ♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, I have been part of the Nest now for almost a year. It's brought a lot to my life. Thanks all, for that.

About my New Year's Eve plans from A51; My pool has been heated, and a ramp was installed from the top of my roof, over the patio cover and (so far) ending in the pool. So there will be that. I've already been fined by the HOA for it, so I figure enjoy it whilst they can. I don't go anywhere near the ramp or the pool.

Mr. B gave all his employees airsoft guns for Xmas, which I can tell you hurt almost as much as getting shot with a paintball. I'm sure they'll be here too.

I will proctor one of my infamous spelling bees with an electronic dog collar for the contestant. I enjoy giving words that are spelled differently, depending on their (there they're) usage. The punishment for misspelled words is an obviously painful zap around the throat. I shouldn't enjoy it so much, but really, I do.

The usual middle-aged child games will ensue, such as dizzy boxing, booby traps and I'm afraid to think of what else.

Really, I just want a safe place(!?) for people to be instead of out on the streets, tipsy or not.

Have a wonderful and SAFE NYE, everyone!

  23. I hardly ever do that, but I thought it was justified one last time.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bonachichi, It sounds like you have quite an interesting evening ahead. Have fun and I guess it's too late to say be safe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Now I'm in a festive mood. I might need to make a few beer runs on account of all the beer hogs, though.

  26. TINKA: Happy New Year! Have fun tonight!

SHIRLEY: Loved the stats..thank you for all the hard work compiling them!

LYNN: I hope that sexy crack of yours is just showing chocolate..ijs.. ;)

BARB: Omg..I had so much fun..onward to 2010! SWAK! :)

BONACHI: Your guests better know their p's and q's..or zaaapp! You be careful tonight too!

    BARB2: Congrats on 25! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. LynnD Congrats on being the last one to be first in 2009! Btw, we always knew you were cracked. It's part of the reason we love you so much. ;)

Shirley Thanks for keeping stats in 2009! I know it wasn't always that easy to do. I really admire how you've stepped up to the plate to help your mum. You are a first class lady and daughter.

Goldie Do you and the Mr. have a romantic get-away planned for tonight? You two are so blessed to have found each other. Endless Love, indeed.

Zona So....are you sayin' you'll be getting down on your knees tonight? ija....LOL ;)

Tinka You are always beautiful. xoxo

SacBarb LOL @ Shirley being too sexy for the stats! I have beautiful blue skies here. How is it up there? Congrats on being the last to get 25!

Carol You are, and always will be, our Number One Crackwhore! Plus, you have Italian Stallions. How blessed can one girl be? :)

Bonach Please don't break anything tonight. If you have a flip, please video the ramp activities for us.

I'm lucky to have many blessings in my life even tho 2009 was not the best year. It was sad and disappointing for me in my personal life, but there is reason to hope things will work out in 2010. Some of my family members are having a tough go of it, financially, and we're hoping for better times in the coming year. It looks like some things are starting to improve already.

I want to thank you all for being here as it definitley adds joy to my life to be part of this nest. Wishing you all a fabulous 2010!

  32. Hi and Happy New Years Eve to all my friends...

SHIRLEY: Thanks for keeping the stats this year and for all the fun parties and buffets you have provided...along with the mischief that is always lurking in you..:)

I guess I haven't changed my avatar since we don't take down decorations until after New Years..not my ide30 a or they would be down right now but oh well..

We are going to dinner with two couples tonight at 6:30 and will be home in our sweats by 8:30 watching New York.

TINK: What are you doing for your date tonight? It sounds exciting to me. I remember the young days of getting my hair done (in petals) for the big night. One year my girlfriend was driving and we were the first car accident of the New Year...that was not fun and my leg has been paying for it for 44 years and there was no drinking involved as we were still too young.

Congratulations on being first LYNN and I think you are the prettiest with your green shell and mop of blond hair. You just never age as TINA AND DEEDEE see to from their pictures.

CHICHI; Are you coming into Denver to visit me in Feb when you are out here? I hope we can grab a lunch date. Your party sounds very interesting. I wonder if the police will show up. You do need to take some videos for us of the whole thing...be careful.

CAROL; You will be 50 this next year and that is still very young. I will reach medicare in the next decade and not too many years from now either...hope it is still available! Thank you so much for keeping up this blog along with the help of so many that give you blogs all year. My new years resolution is to try and help out with that more often..and you can hold me to that.

I forgot that you will be blowing at midnight ZONA. You are so good at filling in with other items when the pool is not available...you little devil you!

GOLDIE; Have a great weekend and New Years. You always seem to get to travel so much..enjoy.

SACBARB; I am so glad you son is over his surgery and healing so well for the end of this year. I know it was a tough time but again, glad he is doing so well. You are a great mom!

TINA, TINA...what can I say? I know you are not the prettiest or the sexiest....but you have a great personality!!! (isn't that what people say when you are going on a blind date)? I do haVe you to thank for making me a "farmer" on every site that grows grass. I have you to thank for making me realize that there are so many more hours in a day between 2AM and 6Am just to be sure my farm is growing and that I am getting those points. I do really want to thank you for all the blogs you write with Carol. I know it is hard to think of things but you both are so good at keeping things going.

I was lucky this year to meet a couple of more olws that have turned into great friendships and I can't wait until May to meet more of you.

  33. You know at the end of the last decade my husband and I were so excited as 99' had brought losses of parents, losses of jobs and melanoma to me. We couldn't wait to see that year end. My husband passed away unexpectedly three weeks before that year ended. I am not trying to be sad on here..quite the opposite...I am glad to see another decade pass by with ...yes, losses to all of us but I am thankful that I was lucky to have another person come into my life and that I will be home with my husband Louis this year.

I wish all of you a very Happy New Year and such a hopeful new year and decade to each one of us for ourselves, family and friends.

I am very glad to know each of you and have this place to call home for so long now. You all mean a lot to me.

  34. I stopped by before, but I was @ work and got sidetracked.. and now here I am..

You all left great comments today, and I am glad everyone is having New Years Eves plans, even if its just staying home, it is still a plan..

I posted the other day, that I am going to my SIL to be with the Italian Stallions minus Italian Stallion # 3 he is in PHL with some college buddies.. She is having a house full so it should be fun..

Shirley.. Thank you for always providing us the stats, I appreciated all the effort you put into it.. but I am still gonna march, and now, I can lie, cause there will be no stats.. so TY! :O) and..enjoy your nite with Mum

Dianne.. Your comment touched my heart..

See what happens, I can't remember anymore..

I know Zona said something, and so did Lynn, and so did J/L and so did Goldie, and Tinka is pretty, and Tina is going to eat like a pig (sorry mo), and Sacbarb thinks Shirley is sexy, and Bonacci is going to harvest bees, and.. I can't remember anymore..

Dianne: I didn't know about that year (99) and all it brought you. I am very glad that you are happy and have a good life now..that must have been a very painful time.

  36. Bebbi We are very glad you joined us. Happy New Year!

Dianne I'm so glad this decade has been so much better for you than the previous one. You have such wit and great sense of humor. I'm sure that has served you well during the toughest of times.

I'm going to have my own, quiet little celebration tonight. I've decided there is no point in worrying about calories again until the entire holiday season is over, so that includes tonight. I bought myself a lobster tail to make for dinner, along with a big baked potato with butter and sour cream (natch) and sauteed mushrooms. Tomorrow I will get back to my 1500 calorie per day limit.

Play nice tonight, everyone, and be safe.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bebbi.. I 2nd what J/L said..

J/L.. The lobster sounds divine.. enjoy.. and don't worry about the calories 2nite.. there is always next year.. which just happens to be tomorrow..

I am off to my SIL.. I will stop back here when I get home..

    Everyone have a great nite!
