~ Two Is Better Than One ~

by Tina~in_ut

"I remember what you wore on that first day!" That line makes me laugh! The day I met my husband, he was wearing this gawd awful yellow corduroy, long-sleeve shirt and jeans. Another day, he wore SHORT dark blue corduroy shorts! I wasn't particularly impressed with him. We didn't start dating for a year after that initial meeting. We were friends, though. I think that's why it worked. In any case, almost 20 years later, I think two IS better than one~

  3. and a belated very Merry Christmas to all!

We haven't finished Christmas yet. Had a record-breaking blizzard on Christmas Eve so our plans to be with family were postponed. We were supposed to go to Tulsa to spend the day with my BIL & his wife but the weather had other plans for us. My stepdaughter and grandson were supposed to come up Christmas night but the roads were still pretty treacherous even yesterday.

Because we didn't plan on having a Christmas dinner here, the pantry was fairly bare. We had oven-baked chicken and polenta for Christmas dinner. Yesterday hubby and I walked to the neighborhood store to pick up a few staples (milk, bread, eggs) and he made a pumpkin pie last night. Next time the weatherman reports even a hint of snow, I am laying in supplies!

  4. Morning Glories!

HA Mo got first! Take that Tina that means she is the prettiest one in Owldom!

    Morning Caryn!

This blog cracks me up. Mr. Lynn D was wearing a polyester western wear blazer and western wear shirt with pearlized snap buttons and freaking pointy toed cowboy boots, that made my feet hurt looking at them.

You know that song you don't impress me much??? Well that about sums it up!

The laugh is on me however as we just celebrated our 27th anniversary on the 22nd of Dec. LMAO

  5. Good morning Mo, Caryn (I think we've not met) and LynnD! Congrats on #1, Mo!

I always say two is better than one. My theme song though, is "If You're Goin' to be Dumb, You Gotta be Tough". Not that I ever need to employ those characteristics.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. I think I'm getting back to normal, so will be bothering you all regularly again.

    Missed you all!

  6. Good Morning!

TINA: Very pretty song! I love the line "..when I close my eyes and drift away..I think of you and everything's ok.." One of the reasons I love Mr Z so much..is no matter what has happened during the day..I only need to talk to him to know everything is going to be all right. I can always count on him to make even the worst day better.

I first met him when he drove up to the store I was working at in a black 1966 Mustang with the tape deck blasting AC/DC..he stepped out of the car wearing mirrored sunglasses, skin tight jeans, work boots, a white tshirt with cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve and he had a black jacket thrown over his shoulder. He looked like the bad boy of my dreams and I fell for him immediately. Twenty seven years later..he's still my best friend.

    Great blog today TINA..thank you!

  7. MO: Congrats on FIRST and PRETTIEST! :)

CARYN: I'm sorry you missed your family Christmas. I know you probably hate it by now..but I love snow!

LYNN: Happy Anniversary to you and Mr D!!

    HI BONACHI!

  8. I forgot to tell you! Mr Z fixed the TV set! He had to replace 2 capacitors..and now it works like new! :)

  9. Good Morning Hooters!

    Congrats on 1st MO!!

Great blog today- I don't remember what Mr. Goldie was wearing besides blue jeans, but like Lynn the song "you don't impress me much" was pretty much it. He was damn handsome but I could have cared less at that point in my life.

He was a friend of by brothers, then we started working (me part-time) at the same bar, then group outings. Finally, one night at a dance club after work, we danced to "Endless Love", had our first kiss (damn that was goooooooood). The rest is history. Together for 29 years in July, Married for 26 1/2. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day. Mom and I are going shopping- then have to pack son up for his trip home to Cali tonight... :(g

  10. Congrats on first Mo!

Tina: Wow, great video and song. I have never heard that one and it is an awesome song. Loved the video too.

  11. Zona: Nice description of The Leader of the Pack... er, I mean, Randy! LOL!

Tina: I remember how fetching I thought Hubby looked in these Robin's Egg blue tennis shorts! That was 12 years ago...

    congrats, 'weenie!

  12. Lynn D, happy belated anniversary!

Zona & Goldie, two more 20+ marriages, I love it!

Zona, I still love the snow, even if i had to get out there and shovel it two days in a row. I see it as a bonus cuz I got some exercise!

Whabby, Paul & I met 12 years ago (online in September 2007, live & in person a month later) and my son and his wife met 12 years ago also. I am visualizing Jim in those tennis shorts … no wonder you fell for him!

I was impressed by Paul from the first time he emailed me and by the time we met in person we had emailed, chatted, and talked on the phone so much it was as if we had been together forever.

It's a lovely lazy Sunday, watching my hubby swordfighting on his new wii sports resort game.

Our son got his car out of the driveway today and we probably could have yesterday but our street and the two on either end of our block are still very icy. If we don't have to be anywhere, why risk it? We'll just keep our tree and decorations up and have Christmas next weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  13. MO Congrats on ONE! You are right that one is sometimes better. It definitely is better than being with Mr. Wrong.

Caryn Great to see you here today. Your Christmas dinner sounds just fine. I hope you'll be able to see the rest of your family soon.

Zona Mr. Z sounds Hot, Hot, Hot. :)

LynnD When I met Custard at the airport after not seeing him for decades, he wore his cowboy clothes at my request. I loved it!

Goldie Love seems to arrive when we least expect it. I'm so glad you found the right guy or that he found you. :)

Bear LOL @ Leader of the Pack! Perfect!

Bonach I try not to be dumb but it doesn't always work.

Bebbi Waving a wing at you!

Tina I think a lot of men need help in the wardrobe department. When I first met my late husband, he was dressed in stereotypical police detective fashion; sport jacket, somewhat rumpled shirt, obnoxious clip-on tie. Always a clip-on tie so a bad guy couldn't use it to strangle him. Unfortunately, he also liked colorful clothes. LOL
    Great blog today, Tina!

  14. TINA: Nice video and I also don't think I have heard the song.

We are waiting for my brother to pick us up to wisk us away for the day and night to Cripple Creek and to win lots of money!!

    Whoops...they are here I think.

I am trying to remember what my husband(s) were wearing when I met them...I think they were naked...JUST KIDDING...wanted to see if anyone was paying attention. I don't think I was working the street corner in those days! :) Now no one will want to meet me in Chicago....

JODI: Do y ou have on your Bronco shirt today as I think we need the help...no tassels please just the shirt and I will cheer for your Packers too.

Guess I had better sign off. Have a good day my owl friends and I will be lurking during the night on my blackberry!

  15. Tina- My hubby has always impressed me with his clothes from day one.

We are off to a hotel for swimming and relaxing. Have a great day everyone!

  16. Oh, I forgot to tell you all something. I just found that Wedding Designer DS game that I lost and repurchased. It was in a kitchen cabinet under a bag of pretzels. I think I stuck it there when the girls came over one time. I knew it was in a very safe place.

At least I know I am not totally losing my memory!

  17. Hey MO! Cograts on first!

Great song & Vid Tina. It was very romantic.
I remember exactly what Jim was wearing. He was standing at the end of our local hang out bar. He had on a pair of black slacks and a thin light brown and white dress shirt. He was with a few friends as I was. We all paired up and went to his place for drinks. He went with a cute blond, me with a cute guy. By the end of the night we were together. Have been together for almost 35 yrs. We will be married 31 yrs Jan 22. He is a pain-in-the-ass, but is my best friend forever! Nuff mush lol!!

Caryn, I load up my pantry the first of Dec. You never know what can happen. We also have a generator which we have used many times.

Whabby glad you made it back. Your airport/airline comments on FB made me wonder what our next trip will be like!

LyynD, I think my Jim's pants were poly. lol!

Bonacci, glad you will be with us more. I have been busy too and not on here like I would have liked.Hopefully things will calm down after the New Years Eve celebrations.

Zona, dammmmm Mr Z sounded kinda James Dean like wow!

Goldie, ah, done in by "Endless Love" lol!

Diane, have fun and... Go Broncs!!

    Waving at Jennifer & JustLin~~~~

I decided to pack up the tree while I have a spurt of energy!
    BBL

  18. BEAR: It was total posing..Mr Z was quiet and shy..I don't think I could have handled him being any other way no matter what I believed!

So..does your hubby still have those cute little shorts..you know..for special occasions? ;)

JENNIFER: I hope you have a lot of fun!

    J/L: He was to me..and only 19..yikes.. ;)

MARY: He wanted to be the tough rock and roller..he was just way too sweet..LOL..

Mr Z can be a pain too..but then, so can I..so it works out.. ;)

GOLDIE: Love the image of the kiss to 'Endless Love' so romantic!

DIANNE: LOL! The real question is how long after you met did it take to get them nekkid.. ;)

Good Luck in Cripple Creek..I hope you find the perfect slot! :D

  19. Happy Sunday Owls. Today I've been visiting relatives I didn't get to see on Christmas. Then, when I got home, I started the sausage and peppers in the slow cooker and now I'm waiting for Todd and Vicki to arrive. I am exhausted and I wish I had time for a nap. {{{yawn}}}

Tina, I haven't heard this song before, but your blog made me think about what my hubby was wearing when we met. I can't remember what I wore yesterday, and I couldn't remember what he was wearing that day in 1960. But I like the song and I agree, two IS better than one!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Zona- that kiss was not romantic- it was HOT!!! :)

just got back from the airport, sniff, sniff, #2 son on is way back to San Fran. My mom is here until tommorrow. Then back to work.

Oh, and I have to clean up my house. It looks like Christmas puked all over it!! I need order restored and all the stuff put away.

  21. Mo, congrats on grabbing #1.

Caryn, Sure is different than SF, huh!

Lynn, Happy belated anniversary to you and the Mr. P.S. my guy was a cowboy too, and he always wore cowboy boots and a cowboy hat until he was in his 40s.

Zona, WOW, I would have gone for that too!! Plus, he is a great handyman. I need me one of those!

Di, LMAO @ you finding the gift under the pretzels. Todd's birthday is in March and he often got something meant for Christmas 'cause I couldn't find it in time.

Gotta go, they are here. Maybe I will bbl. ♥

  22. Mo~ congrats on first......twin son saw that we congratulate the person who gets first.....and thought it was dumb! So CONGRATS!!!!! :D

I love everyone's comments......can't comment on them all......there is a line to use hubby's phone!!

    Dianne~ sorry about the broncos!

When I wrote this blog, I didn't think of those without a #2 or those that have lost their #2 (or in Di's and DeeDee's cases......a #3 4 and 5!!!) Lol!!! So I hope it didn't upset anyone!

And Caryn~ thought of u when I saw the awful weather. Told the fam about u! Glad ur safe!

  23. I had not heard that song yet Tina-thanks for that!!

I remember what Mr. Joey was wearing the day I met him...He had on jeans, not really remembering the shirt lol, but it was there and a powder blue FUBU jacket lmao(he thought he was a true thug back then haha)

No, really, a great friend of his gave him that jacket, then the friend died, so it meant alot to him! I also remember the boxers! ROFLMAO...whabbear, get your mind outta the gutter..it's only because he was saggin' lol...Black silk with red hearts:) AWWWW:) hehe

I hope everyone had a great Christmas-Mine went pretty well except I missed my brothers who are in California SO much!!:(

Then, my sis-in-law calls the day after hysterically crying to say her Dad died in his sleep that morning-Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers!

I'm slowly finding my way back home here lol-Who dropped those crumbs for me?haha

I wanted to say that meeting Mr. Joey was 8 and 1/2 yrs. ago and he gets better with age:)(he was 19 when I met him lmao)

  42. When I first met my SSO it was in his work clothes, kinda like a uniform.

Our first outing, he wore a blue valor sweat suit, just like the ones Paulie wore on the show The Sopranos.

When he picked me up the first thing I noticed was this valor thing he was wearing and immed in my head said this is a huge mistake, I wanted to roll down the window and puke.. But then I looked at his hands and nails, and they were sooo clean, I decided to over look the valor thing and see how the night turns out.. and well, here we are today!

    :O)

BTW.. he never wore the valor thing in my company again..
