I went to the movies with my sister a few weekends ago and we saw a trailer for Disney’s new movie, “Oceans.” Apparently, they had a similar movie called “Earth”, but I never saw it because I never heard about it. It comes out on Earth Day, April 22nd and was made by Disneynature, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. I’m not big on nature movies, but I love anything about the ocean and its inhabitants. I can’t wait to see this film and if you see it during opening week, Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to save our coral reefs!
See Oceans, Save Oceans
1~
ReplyDeleteTina you take that back!! I'm first!
ReplyDeleteoh yay!!! I want to see that movie too!!! :)~
ReplyDeleteLynnD~ you need to have one day a week where you don't care and just don't give a shit! It might help! Helps me! :D
No DeeDee!~ You snooze, you lose~ :D
ReplyDeletewell that video made me have to tee-tee.....brb...
ReplyDeleteGood morning Tina & Dee! What a spectacular clip. Tina, do you miss the ocean much, being in Utah after growing up with it at your back door?
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteTina got first and Janice isn't even there? Who did you push out of their chair this morning?
Good For Disney! I hope they raise alot of money for this cause. I have to say the baby turtles made me smile they are so damn cute. I love the ocean, my favorite place in the world is to be at the beach. But there is something about being under the water that is a little creepy and scary to me. Used to have nightmares about drowning in the ocean, yet I still find it to be my happy place from land. Another Freud moment brought to you by me today.
Have to go iron my suit of armor for the next round of legislator meetings.
Waving at Deedee and Bonachichi.
Tina I think I may need a week of not giving a shit to get my wind back.
I love the oceans from the topside. And although whats below the surface can be fascinating....and although I have done it in the past...I don't think it is wise to do down there...
ReplyDeleteBut we are ruining those too....I was in Acapulco in the early 80's and we were out at Revolcadero beach....it is on the open sea out by the Princess hotel.....and it is popular for surfing.
And there were a few guys out there surfing....but the time of day was coming when everyone knows you get out of the water because the hotels dump their sewage into the ocean and the sharks come in to feed.....
Well there were these 2 guys who just wanted to get one more wave rode...then another...and another....and sure enough one of them was bitten by a shark....once he was back on the beach his injury was apparently the work of a large shark because there wasn't much left of his right leg....he was losing a lot of blood and sadly he died before getting to the hospital. He and his friend were both students at the University of Texas. I will never forget his face or his parents.....
But the fact that the hotels dump their raw sewage into the ocean is what is astounding....they even do it in the bay......
North of Hawaii their is a place where the currents cause plastic to accumulate and it has created a dump twice the size of the United States. It stretches from 500 nautical miles off the California coast..across the northern Pacific... past Hawaii and almost as far as Japan...
The Pacific's ocean inhabitants didn't do it....humans did....but it is disastrous for them...maiming and killing millions of our flippered friends.....
What we as a race have done to this once pristine planet is nothing short of embarrassing.....and what continues to be knowingly done is a crime.....the oceans are vast but they won't last forever if we don't take better care than we have of them....
DeeDee...do you always have to go on and on about EVERYTHING!!??
Well I am just sharing what this video brought to mind....
LEAVE ME ALONE!! I'm sensitive.....
and btw Tina....I want you to stop saying that "snoozing and losing" thing to me.....its very irritating..TYVM
ReplyDeleteHi erbidy!!
DeeDee~ I'll stop using that phrase if you stop the "nighters!" ga!!!! So sad about the surfer...i didn't know you've been ACA....do you like it? :)~
ReplyDeleteBonachichi~ I don't miss the ocean...I'm in CA often....and it's the last thing I see before turning into the Dr's office when I take my dad~
LynnD~ I think you and DeeDee are sisters~!!!!~ :D
Tina.....for 30 years I was a regular in Acapulco.....at least 2 times...3 times a year.....and yes you knew that.....ah ah AH! Don't argue with me....
ReplyDeletelq~ yes....i knew that~ ....i seem to remember something about a salt shaker~ :D
ReplyDeleteI think the list of places DeeDee hasn't been is much shorter than the list of places she has.
ReplyDeleteThe beaches and ocean were such a big part of my growing up. Even today, a vacation isn't a vacation unless there's an ocean and sandy beach nearby.
I went cavediving in Croatia and decided I am not brave enough to do that anymore. If I'm going to be trapped somewhere, I want to at least be on land when it happens.
How are our walking wounded today?
ReplyDeleteOkay, what happened with the salt shaker? If DeeDee was involved, it could have been anything.
ReplyDeleteomg.....shut up! Every time I see one of those I break out in a sweat! You know...those Salt and Pepper shakers that are pretty pointed at the top and flutey flared at the base?? Yeah ...thats the one...standard restaurant issue...
ReplyDeleteOh well I might as well tell it now.......
Picture it....late morning...Acapulco...mid 80's....I get checked into my hotel and head down to the restaurant by the pool for some lunch....
I resemble a bronze goddess as I make my way across the vast pool area walkway at the Hyatt Regency....designer swimsuit....tons of gold jewelry...a large Gucci tote over my shoulder carrying my Evian spray water cans....Halston slides with 4 inch heels....
As I made my way to the open air restaurant I topped the steeps and there it was....breezy..beautiful...AcapulcoBay....and just then the band struck up with "Girl From Impanema".....the tables and chairs were those white ...ornate iron kind and I saw my table looking out over the sparkling sand.....I headed for it....and gave a little extra hip action as I walked knowing that all eyes were on this bronze aphrodite....and I could hear the inquisitive whispers..."who is she?"....European aristocracy perhaps?..."a movie star?".....I lowered myself gracefully (swan like) into my seat.....where some prankster had placed...unbeknownst to me....one of those pointy salt shakers......with which I managed a perfect and painful docking.....
I screamed and jumped up....put my hand over my back door and RAN back across the pool area...into the hotel and up to my room....where I extracted the salt shaker and tossed my ruined swimsuit......
And with that....all the mystery of the bronze Aphrodite was gone...not European aristocracy....not a movie star....but that lady with a salt shaker stuck up her
TUCKUS!!
Good thing it wasn't a thermos on that thar chair.
ReplyDeleteBonach LMAO!!!!
ReplyDeleteLynnD LOL @ Tina pushing someone out of their chair.
DeeDee That little mishap did kind of ruin your grand entrance, didn't it? LOL
Tina The movie looks fabulous! I heard that "Earth" is wonderful. It is out on DVD but I haven't seen it yet. As fascinating and beautiful as nature films are, I'm always a little afraid to watch them because you just know some poor, weak animal is going to get killed by a bigger animal. I hate when that happens.
Just returned from MD for my Dad's funeral last night and wanted to tell you all that I wore the necklace that day (pictures on facebook) and felt you all with me. You guys are great and truly special.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing okay and so are Mom and the kids. We miss him so much but know that life goes on and so do our memories of him.
Thanks again for all your kind words of support.
xoxoxo Sandie
Sandie Heartfelt hugs and best wishes to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteDEEDEE: VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION...Did you throw some salt over your shoulder for good luck?
ReplyDeleteHi Dianne.....
ReplyDeleteyou know you and I go way back.....and because I am truly fond of you I am just going to say....oh ho ho....you are so funny Dianne!!
I knew if I told this embarrassing and painful story that I would certainly suffer at the hand of Bonachichi......but YOU??!!
Oh I am kidding.....touche Dianne...J/L..and Bonachichi.....
But that experience did give me an idea......I always put those in the chairs now and wait to see peoples faces when they sit on them.....practically never happens...people spot them! I would have as well if I had not been so wrapped up in myself........
I learned a valuable lesson that day....always have Duster dust your chair before you sit down.....
So no Dianne....I didn't toss the salt......my bo-bo was hurting.....
SANDIE: Thinking of you and glad to see you are remembering all those good memories. I saw the pictures of you and your husband at a party/dance and you look great.
ReplyDeleteTINA: I love the ocean. I used to only go on vacations where there was an ocean and always wanted to live by one. I used to think I would like to live in Washington or Oregon because then you get the mountains and ocean but now that I have grandkids my thoughts have changed and back to visiting the ocean. It is beautiful just to sit and look out at it and get lost in it. Surfing...not so much but love to watch it.
LYNN: Any chance of you taking one of those quiet overnights again soon? It sounds like you need a mental health day to rest and veg.
CHICHI: I feel like crappola still today and my cheek and lip look like I was in a fight and lost..very swollen and my teeth hurt and my inside part of my cheek. I like to just take the percocet and then go to sleep. I will just lay around until Friday afternoon when I have to go get my hair colored and cut..that is a must regardless.
J/L; How is the weather out there? The news last night showed you have another storm looming. It looks we are finally going to get some of TINA'S snow tonight..they are saying 1-3".
Why DEEDEE that was the first thing I thought of...too bad I wasn't with you and I would have helped your luck...no I would not have been the "duster". Does your duster dust off the toliet seat for you too...that would be an important thing especially when you are out at public bathrooms...that could also be a gross job!! How much does a duster get paid nowadays? Yes, you and I go way way way back, don't we? We know husband secrets about each other that no one knows...only TINA THINKS she knows, right?
ReplyDeleteTINA: Love the ocean..love to sit in the sand and gaze over it..walk in the surf and feel the waves against my legs..love to listen to the tide coming in..love the smell of the salt water..BUT..I don't like thinking about what is lurking under that pretty sparkling water. There are things down there so big they make me shiver!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch a lot of nature films..like J/LIN..I know some poor animal is going to get killed..and that makes me sad..so I probably won't see this one..I really liked the vid though..well, not those things with the weird teeth..ugh..but the rest of it was very cool!
TINA: Grats on being on top! ;)
ReplyDeleteLYNN: How's the armor..need some help pounding out the dents..or did things go smoothly?
DEEDEE: I always think of the massive loss of sea life when countries do underwater bomb testing..it's got to be just awful.
BONACHI: Mr Z is doing good..he worked 10 hours today..he was supposed to only work 6..but in the two days he was away the paperwork was so overwhelming he decided to stay and get it done. Now he's home...ouching and ooohhing..and getting spoiled rotten..lol..
SANDIE: Prayers and hugs to you and your family.
DIANNE: LOL @ throwing the salt for good luck! Sorry you are hurting..but damn..your sense of humor is totally intact! I hope the pain eases up soon.
Back to the kitchen..yep..home cooked meal again..I'm making chicken pot pie..shush BEAR..not that kind.. ;)
Back to the ocean theme....I live about 1 mile from the ocean but never go there. Go figure...
ReplyDeleteThere was a sea lion spotted on New Year's Day at Pier 39 in San Francisco that was tangled in fishing wire. It was wrapped around his neck, causing a huge gash, and also around his muzzle, preventing him from eating. It took until Jan. 25 for them to finally catch him down in Monterey Bay. He is recovering now at the Marine Mammal Center and hopefully he will regain the 100 lbs he lost and heal well.
Zona, me thinks Mr. Z is a real trooper. I thought he'd be away from work for at least a week. It's gotta hurt.
ReplyDeleteDeeDee, I would never laugh at your pain. The humiliation is a different matter altogether, and I suspect you'd be laughing just as much as me.
Sandie, I don't know what to say except our hearts are with you.
Carol, from A51. I'm working in 2 time zones again, so whilst you all are sleeping, I'm slaving away. I'd have to get up early anyway cuz LynnD burgles my island first thing every morning. She's like an alarm clock.
J/Lin, it really sucks that we hurt animals with our carelessness.
ReplyDeleteZona. I agree with Bonach that Mr. Z is a real trooper to have gone back to work already.
ReplyDeleteWe expect a little more rain on Friday, I think.

I have no idea why my phone sent that last comment twice.
ReplyDeleteBonach. Yes, it really does suck and is very distressing to see
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone..
ReplyDeleteI have been a bad blogger.. sorry..
Everything as been so crazy, I find my time lately has not been my own, I don't remember the last time I have been this busy with life and work. I am so usually doing nothing.. Now I find my myself with deadlines, appts, parties, etc etc etc..
My nephew set the date for Sept 18 2010.. Place, Limo's, DJ's, Photographer, Church is all confirmed.. He just has to find a caterer and few odds and ends and that will be it...
I did not get home till about 9p tonite.. and needed to catch up on some paper work..
Off to read the comments..
peeking in after being awol a couple of days..hope all is well. Going to bed, life's busy here too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDianne I hope you are resting well and tht your meds are keeping you comfortable. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI'm being bad, too... doing my own blog is taking an embarrassing amount of time! :(
ReplyDeleteBut Dee Dee... Tuckus? LOL!
Zona: Glad to hear Randy's back at work!
Bear I'm not surprised that doing your own blog is taking a lot of time. I think it would even under normal circumstances. You are trying to make complicated subjects about space comprehendible to us normal folk.
ReplyDeleteBeen sleeping the majority of the evening and now I am up to take my pain pill and sleeping pill. I thought I would spend some time on the computer until they clicked in and I think they are now. I'm calling the dentist tomorrow to tell him it still hurts (maybe that is normal after all the work they did) and to ask for more pain meds.
ReplyDeleteI am off to bed to maybe dream of DEEDEE sitting on a pepper shaker this time....

ReplyDeletePS It is snowing so get ready midwest we are sending it your way...
