One Day

By Matisyahu

Chosen by Just_Lin

Ever since I heard Matisyahu sing this song, One Day, on David Letterman's show recently, the catchy tune has been running through my head. The lyrics are words of hope for a future of peace, free from war. What better sentiment to bring us into a new year?

Matisyahu is a Hasidic Reggae singer and the first video is of his performance as I saw it the other night. And, hey, who doesn't love a disco dreidle? The second video is just the song with the lyrics written out so you can understand all the words. You may enjoy singing along as I did.

Wishing everyone a wonderful year of blessings in 2010.

I really think the people are tired of fighting..it's the leaders that can't seem to stop.

  15. Hi, HOs!

I meant for the other vid to be posted, too, which shows all the lyrics as the song is being sung. You can find it here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgULq1yCz70

DeeDee Congrats on BAM, today. Will you take a personal check for that $250,000.00? It's check number one and doesn't have my address printed on it, but don't worry about that, okay?

Jodi Great excuse for staying home today. Snuggle, snuggle, snuggle!

Goldie Hope you had a great time! Welcome home!

MO LOL @ Hora Dancing With the Stars!

Bear If you were away all the time, it wouldn't seem so special.

  16. DeeDee It is my understanding that he wrote the song. Somehow, I think shaving off the beard would screw up the whole Hasidic thing, don't you?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Zona I just realized that you slipped in while I was typing. Glad you liked the song. The lyrics really are neat. I posted the addy for the lyrics vid at 2:09 if you're interested.

  18. sometimes I lay
    under the moon
    and thank God I'm breathing
    then I pray
    don't take me soon
cause I am here for a reason
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
    so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
    because
all my life I've been waiting for
    I've been praying for
    for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
    they'll be no more wars
    and our children will play
    one day x6
    it's not about
    win or lose
    we all lose
when they feed on the souls of the innocent
    blood drenched pavement
keep on moving though the waters stay raging
in this maze you can lose your way (your way)
it might drive you crazy but don't let it faze you no way (no way)
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
    so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
    because
all my life I've been waiting for
    I've been praying for
    for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
    they'll be no more wars
    and our children will play
    one day x6
one day this all will change
    treat people the same
    stop with the violence
    down with the hate
one day we'll all be free
    and proud to be
    under the same sun
    singing songs of freedom like
    one day x4
all my life I've been waiting for
    I've been praying for
    for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
    they'll be no more wars
    and our children will play
    one day x6
    ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  19. MO Thank you very much for posting the lyrics. xoxox

In the written lyrics, when you see 6x, it means the previous words (such as "one day") is repeated 6 times.

  20. MOrni....er Afternoon glories!

Deedee got first and she still has that beanie on her head!

I have gotten way caught up in working and rearranging my farms and cafe today and lost track of time.

J/L I will listen to this new group when I get back from running errands. What you wrote seems like a perfect New Years song and wish to me!

Deedee If I donate $250.00 will that get me a bumpit or a snuggie? Maybe just my toe into heaven? What am I thinking? Not one red cent and I will go to Hell with the sinners, just takin my chances.

Ohhh I just read the lyrics fantastic!

Okay I have to go get Teriyaki as the mister is watching the game and giving me the ol fish eye, because I said I would run out and get it.

    Be back later!

  21. LynnD I hope you watch the vid when you return as he really has a beautiful voice. LOL @ "fish eye".

  22. lol J/L~ yestiddy I was driving my son to his friend's house and we heard this song...I asked him who was singing it and in his wonderful "mouth full of marbles" voice, he told me....I thought...damn...I'll have to look that up cuz I can't figure out what he's saying after the 5th time trying......then he just said "He's a Jewish Rabbi, Mom!" THAT'S when I thought....I see a blog! But you beat me to it~ Love the song~

DeeDee~ congrats on #1....maybe you should try #2 for tomorrow~ :)~ And would you mind writing that check for me....I'd love a GF grill~ :D

Good Morning (okay...afternoon) to Jodi, Goldie (i would be the one who doesn't like reggae!), Mo, Bear, Zona, and LynnD~

  23. Morning everyone. Well, when I first looked at the title of the blog with my sleepy eyes I thought we had a new blog member with a rather different name! I then rubbed my eyes and realized it was J/L and a singer. I haven't heard of this person before but I sure like the words to his song.

I am getting readey to watch the Bronco/Chiefs game. I am sure you are all cheering for the Broncos as we have no owls in Kansas City. I am very quietly cheering for the Raiders to win and this is very hard for me to do. I( have on my killer mask, my spike bracelet, my horn helmet, my brass knuckles and now I look just like a Raider fan.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ok. I need some help. My dvr had some work done on it and lost every f## thing on it which had the season of brothers and sisters , greys and desparate houswives. Does anyone know how I can see these? If u say online, I am a little technically challenged so would u explain it in more detail? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can u tell that u r glad to not be with me today? My shows are all gone, the Broncos r already losing and the fans r booing the QB and coach (mee too)and I am cheering for the Raiders---pass the shots please. There must be some old jello. Shots around here somewhere. Anyone want to come over?

    ReplyDelete
  26. *****ALERT*****ALERT*****ALERT*****

I made the leap and called Di to tell her where to watch the shows! I've got scratch marks, bite marks, and I now hate Di.....but she knows where to watch them~ :|

    ReplyDelete
  27. TINA, u don't hate me on the Sabboth Day--u love me. Grrr

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tina You should have donned some of those Raider fan spikes and brass knuckles before contaction Di. ;)

Dianne The 49ers beat the Rams badly which was fun to watch but didn't do us any good in the long run as we are done for the season. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. LOL @ "contaction Di". I meant "contacting".

    ReplyDelete
  30. hmmmmmmmmm.....so football fans cannot spell? Sabboth? wtc is that?

J/L~ thanks for catching yourself~ So Raider fans are smarter than Bronco fans? I really can't imagine that~ :)~

    ReplyDelete
  31. J/L He was really good. Another singer whose music I am going to out and look for. He covered all types of music in just that one song. Def. a Techno beat, some reggae and a little soul. Great voice!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tina YIKES!!! I AM NOT a Raider fan. I am a 49er girl only! We are rivals with those freaks on the other side of the Bay. LOL

LynnD Glad you enjoyed it. Are you all set with your teriyaki now?

    ReplyDelete
  33. TINA, don't question my spelling on Sabbath as I am ether uing my hone or laptop and they spell wrong sometimes--not my fault.

JL--lol at TINA thinking u r a Raider fan. She needs her mout washed out with soap. My one and only time wanting them to win and they don't

    ReplyDelete
  34. lmbo...Di...check ur spelling~

    J/L~ so sorry~

    ReplyDelete
  35. Games over--raiders lose -denver sucks and loses. Did anyone find those damn jello shots?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dianne LOL @ "they" spell wrong sometimes.
