All In A Day's Work

by Bonachichi

This blog is mostly for Tina, because she likes the car stuff. Sometimes I pick up a consulting job that requires some sort of qualification or certification. The road rallies I used to do had that requirement. I don't know who or what put the requirement in place, but in order to work the job, we all had to prove we could drive if needed. Whether that was our primary function or not. Here's one year of qualifying, which spanned two days for all of us. I am happy to say that I did qualify. Barely, but I did it. Has anyone else ever found themselves doing something totally NOT what you thought you'd be doing for your job?

  1. That is an expression of excitement...although I am not actually excited this morning..

I shall reveal this although I am not excited about it....Years ago I had a travel agency....

My duties were mostly traveling and enjoying various company's attempts to woo me....

The unexpected came when a couple of company's/Airlines asked me to lead tours for them....I didn't expect to ever do that....but I did it and it was fun.....

I know....boring.....I am still waiting for some real excitement in my life.....

Like new tabi socks from Japan!!

    Damn you Delta!!

  2. you do realize that I have ways to get you those socks! hey.....wait....freaking take ur jet over there and get them yourself! ga!!!! oh....yeah.....YOU CAN'T AFFORD ONE!!!! (yet!) :)~

off to work!~ I have a training class today and tomorrow! YAY!!~

  3. Is Tina giving the class or attending the class? Regardless, a clown and a clown with an umbrella are essentially, the same thing.

Welcome to an inane blog that is a cheap attempt to raise spirits with some cool driving and music. Feel free to answer the question, "What did you NEVER think you'd be doing?", or break out into a free-for-all. No matter, cuz it's almost the weekend.

Congrats on #1 DeeDee! You are the prettiest. Tina, try not to clobber anyone who doesn't "get" it straight away.

  4. Morning glories!

Who's OLE? Is he cuter than you are today? congrats Deedee!

Off the top of my head I would say no but I am sure something will pop into my head later today as I have attented more training seminars for crap than I could shake a stick at. Ask Dale Carnegie I attended a week long empowerment training based on his ummmm beliefs. Even have the certificate. Waste of time. You are either a people person or not. Training does not help. You just come off phoney if you pretend. imjs

Have to finish on FB as I have a meeting I must attend today for the Food Bank. Holding off on pain meds until I do it. There is a lurker I am pretty sure in my kidneys today as my right side is aching.

Lord I have to say this sucks.

  5. Oh ho ho ho.....that Tina's joking...shes not actually that disrespectful!! (glares at Tina)

You know there was a time that if someone told me I couldn't afford something I would go get one just to show them.....

But the fact is....I can't afford a new jet.....the new Gulfstream 6 series debuting next year will prolly top 70 million...anyway....thats billionaire stuff....and would be just another worry...."do you know where your pilots are?"

But enough of that crap! What I was going to say before Tina embarrassed me......is that rather than do the traveling myself these days it is sooo much fun for me to see others experiencing the excitement of it all.

Lisa has traveled so extensively in the last 8 years that I have forgotten or was unaware of many of their destinations....they will do things like plan a trip to England and end up hopping a Scandinavian cruise....she shared a picture this morning of her...standing at the top of a fjord in Norway looking down on their ship.... absolutely a breath taking photograph.

I am going to post in on FB and for those of you who aren't on my page yet...I always post photos for "everyone" to see.....so please check it out....its gorgeous....

  6. I'm being trained~ On RUMBA!~ I'm trying to think of something I did that I never thought I would do......it'll come to me~

    ReplyDelete
  7. Tina.....to "rumba" on the dance floor or vacuum??

    ReplyDelete
  8. Rumba is a Microsoft terminal emulation application. Once they finish teaching her the alphabet, Tina will probably learn the words. Then how to spell them. Viola, training will be complete.

    ReplyDelete
  9. lmbo....I KNEW you'd know what it was, Bonachichi~ We are actually learning how to update anything and everything for a SkyMiles account....stuff a regular agent can't do....and RUMBA is just the emulation app used.....they just ended up calling the training the same name cuz it sounded funky~ :D

vacuum....as if~ and DeeDee....how in the hell do you even know what vacuuming is?????!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I bought Belle a Rumba...its her favorite toy...

the salesman would NOT shut up about its actual purpose....GAWD....like we care that it sucks the rug!!

Well I am off to the local Harley Davidson dealership.....

My one legged friend Beth in Midland needs some of those fingerless gloves for preventing callouses while pushing her wheelchair.....no one out there will get her a replacement pair...not even her no account son......

She told me to get some cheap ones but I know she will get a kick out of some from Harley Davidson!!

I may even price me a bike while I am out there.....since I CAN'T AFFORD A JET TINA!!!

  11. Duh, Tina. Let me see... Delta has mainframes (I'm guessing AS/400s running Unix?) and PCs running PC applications. It looks like you're running programs on your PC, but really, you're changing a very large database (or databases) that are part of your AS/400 Unix core.

Rumba is a bridge between the PC and the mainframe(s), yes?

Not such a stretch for someone like me to know that. I bet Whab knows it, too. If we didn't, we wouldn't be very good at what we do.

  12. A Roomba on the other hand, is the device that we will one day hear sucked up little Belle and left her with a permanent Afro. Why spend 20 minutes vacuuming when you can WATCH it take 4 hours?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, that's so mean!! Really, I don't want Belle to get run over by a Roomba. They are really fun for dogs to play with. Does anyone else have a Roomba?

    ReplyDelete
  14. So basically.....I could be rid of Belle soon? Today is a good day~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  15. Does a Broomba count? You no the knd Tina flies lol! I am in my high chair getting my roots done so sqooze my typing. I will just be a lurker now :)

  16. Tina, you are going to have an accident. DeeDee's going to get her VooDoo dolls out and you'll be flippin' and floppin' in pain all over the place.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And YOU, Mary/MI; The last time I saw you with Tina & DeeDee, a catfight happened on DeeDee's FB page. I think you egg her on.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Back from getting my roots done. I am pretty again lol!
It is amazing how such pretty silver hair can make me look so frikin old!

I haven't seen the vid yet. I hurried in here so I would not have to hear that ungodly VROOM VROOM on Tina's Vids!!

Bonachichi, little ole' me? I am as pure as the driven snow! Ask Tina....never mind lol!!
I am off to check on my farms & see who has been pilfering my Island!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Speaking of islands, do those animals die? I was trying to get fur off a sheep or something, and it laid down. Like it was dead. I couldn't get it to stand up. I don't know if it started walking around or if it died and evaporated. Anyone know?

Mary/MI; pure, my arse. Oh, you make it look good, but you love a good row, same as the rest of us.

    ReplyDelete
  28. DeeDee..congrats on #1.

Bonachichi: That looks so FUN! Loved it and loved the music. Hubby's nickname for me is "Indy". I do love to drive fast...and weave in and out and around traffic. :) That would have been the COOLEST thing EVER>!

    ReplyDelete

LynnD~ I forgot to tell you....well sorta forgot~ Janice called in sick yestiddy....had nothing to do with me, but I didn't tell you cuz I didn't want you to go off on me~ She was back today for the training class....she waived her hands all around at you.....literally~ made me laugh~ She has back and shoulder pain....she usually hides it so well, but by the end of her shift on Tuesday, you could see she just couldn't handle it anymore....actually, I've never seen her like that before~ it was a little scary~ But she seemed pretty okay today, just tired~ and get this! She's Mormon....AND CAN'T/WON'T DRINK!!!!! I told her it might help...trying to make her Catholic by the end of Lent!~ :D

  37. Tina, please no more zoom zoom please!

I forgot to comment on Bonachichi's blog.
I was asked to DJ for a wedding reception. It was at a small country club in a beautiful park. We got there early to set up. The bride's parents gave us a cd with the wedding parch on it! They expected us to be at the wedding, place our speakers on the lawn and play as the bride walked to the alter! We also had to play the exit music! They didn't pay us for the extra hr of torture we had to go through for staying at the wedding!
