~ I'm Going To Miss Them ~

by Tina~in_ut

At 6pm Sunday night, the department I've worked in for years closed for good. I wasn't at work, but at 6:15pm, while out with my husband, it hit me. We've all known for over 2 years that it was going to happen.....eventually. They kept extending the date, so we all held out hope....up until the end. We are all splitting up. Our little family of 14 is moving on.....and I must be pms'ing because it's making me cry~

Friday night, all but 2 of us met for dinner and drinks. One couldn't come because her family was coming into town. She was missed. The other.....well.....we didn't really miss him. Let's just call him the black sheep of the family. Anyway, we had a great time. Laughed mostly, some crying and a little complaining (we're so good at that!). Hubby had a thing or two to say when I got home because I was gone for five hours!! He couldn't believe I was actually out to dinner that long!

Janice and I are going to a department that is brand new. Five others are going to another new department which we will be working closely with. These departments are so new that even though we open today, we still don't have our new job duties clearly defined. The rest of our group are moving to the Customer Service department which is open 24 hours, and everyone's shifts are changing dramatically. There are four lucky devils who will remain with my old boss. Janice and I wanted to take him with us to our new digs, but it wasn't meant to be (he didn't suck up enough to his boss!!!).

For those of you who have been concerned about me throwing Janice out of her chair and taking over her computer so I can be first, I want you to know, Janice will be arriving at work 3 hours AFTER me from now on. I work at 5am and she works at 8am. So there ya go!~ I will no longer be harassing her.......except for the normal harassment that she gets from me! In fact, she asked me to save her a seat next to me! Hey.......maybe that means she likes me! :D

For the next couple of weeks, we will are be going through training. Mine starts today at 2:30pm. I lucked out and don't have to start my 5am shift yet. Quite frankly, after talking to my new manager, I think EVERYONE wants to delay me working that 5am shift. I'm not sure why!!!!~ :)~

Anyway, I know I will like my new job. I know I will like the people I will be working with. It just won't be the same. Our old group had the best time together. Everyone had such a great sense of humor. And when someone was mad or upset, we knew when to back off or lend an ear. We were close enough to tell each other what we really thought, even if it hurt. I'm sure going to miss what we had~

p.s. The video has nothing to do with this blog. The last thing DeeDee said to me tonight was "I hope your blog isn't another damn song!" So that vid is for her~ :)~ (don't tell her, but my next one IS a song!) shhhhhh~

  1. Tina, thank you for saying the vid had nothing to do with the blog. I'd have spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Many people would have trouble with a change such as you are going through; I don't think you're one of them. You'll roll with the punches and come out a winner. You're that sort.

Hey to everyone who can't drag their arse out of bed to post early!

  2. Morning Glories!

Congrats on first Bonachichi! Tina must still be in bed since she doesn't have to go to training until the afternoon.

Change is so hard but it always happens. It is sad to say goodbye to old friends and co-workers but then there is the challenge of starting fresh, which can be fun. I think you have a positive attitude and will adapt nicely. Glad to know Janice will be safely able to sit now that you won't be stealing her computer time! :)

    Waving a wing at everyone.

PS the video don't have a clue who those people are so nope don't think I miss them.

  3. Good Morning Hooters!
Congrats on 1st Bona and Hi Lynn!!

Change is hard, especially when you are comfortable. A new job can be very scary, even if it is for the same company and you get to work with people you know.
You are right tina~ your work 'family' has a place in your heart, even if its just heartburn.

Good luck, say hi to Janice(did you know that for the longest time I thought she was your made up friend?)and keep up updated on the new job and peeps. I'm sure that there will be plenty of stuff to tell!

oh, and tina~? Could you ask you Mom to pray a little extra for my nephew?? Thanks!

Hope everyone has a good, safe and dry day!

  7. Tina It's very emotional to experience the break up of a group you've built a bond with. Although, you will all do well, you will move on to develop new bonds and new relationships. Like the old song says, breaking up is hard to do. I'm glad Janice will still be working with you. We would miss her. Thanks for the blog today, Tina.

Well I survived my first pt appt. And for all the people that thought I had gone back to work so soon....neener, neener, neener!!! My therapist said it was the right thing to do, cuz I'm MUCH stronger than he thought I would be so soon after breaking my wing!! Ok....that wasn't very nice, but I guess I'm just glad that he and I share the same philosophy in regard to my recovery!!!

  14. I'm actually looking forward to The Bachelor tonight. On the promos, the announcer is calling the girl-we-love-to-hate evil and saying that she has the bachelor wrapped around her little claw. LOL

bbl I have to go to work for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks SLIN!! Not into The Bachelor...TLC is what I watch on Monday's. Gotta love Buddy and Cake Boss!!!

  16. Happy Monday Owls.

Tina, Changing jobs for any reason is usually stressful. You seem to be able to adapt to any situation, though I am a little concerned for the rest of the staff who don't know you. It won't take long before you will be running the show! :) So, does this mean you won't be talking to any more crazies on the phone? I'll miss hearing about them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Bonachichi, congrats on landing first today.

Waving a wing also to Lynn, Goldie, Lois & Aunt Sarah, Mary, J/L, Dee, Tina, Jodi, and all the other Owls.

  18. I made a mistake earlier when I was talking about the grammys.....

    I said "Pork and Beans"

    and I meant

    "Black Eyed Peas"....

    I stand corrected....

    Tina...

    Don't you "spew" at me.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Uh oh. Tina's the teacher's pet? That can't be good. Who's the third stooge?

    ReplyDelete
  20. DeeDee, when I read Pork and Beans, I thought maybe Pink hurled not only water, but BBQ condiments as well.

    ReplyDelete
  21. omg....i'm stuffed! They served us tacos today for dinner.....i think i'm gonna die~

    DeeDee~ I smell old lady~ :D

    SacBarb~ There is a girl in this class with blonde/blue-green hair~ That's prolly okay....but on her.....ewwwwww~

    Jodi~ Glad everything went well~

  22. J/L: Sooooo, are you saying GOLDIE'S boobs are hanging so low that she might trip over a tassel? Hmmm....that was an interesting observations...well, GOLDIE?

TINA: I know what it is like to have everything change and yes, you are glad to have a job but you don't have to like the change right now.

We had a new guy take over our department at Chase and we had all been there many years. He was okay for 6 mos then all things changed and he was an ass....and we all knew much more than he did!! I probably wouldn't have retired if our old boss hadn't changed departments as we had all been with her for many years. One by one each person (there were 13 of us) have all left there now and I guess he is the winner because he is still there. It is sad for me to even go in thtere to see my friends in another dept. I look at our area and remember how close we all were and all the many late hours we spent together. We were like your group ....we would help the other one out, knew when to leave that person alone, etc. I am in touch with all of them but they are all at other places now. We try and get together for a Happy Hour every two or three months .... and still complain about that new guy!!!

Ok...going to cook....and try and eat on my right side and watch Bachelor tonight. I love that show and can't wait for Survivor to start this week.

Good blog TINA and I know you will be fine but I so understand what you are saying!!

  23. Bonacci..

I agree.. I was glad Tina said the vid had nothing to do with the blog, cause I was very cornfused.. and happy 1..

    Tina..

Change sucks! But you are so good at what you do, it will totally be seamless... You will do a good job no matter where you go.. and 5AM what is up with that! Geez will you ever sleep?????

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jodi..

I was in Hoboken (where the cake boss's store is) last week, and the line was around the corner to get into his pastry shop. I could not believe it. I have been there before the show was on TV and there was never a line.. The show has def made him somewhat of a star, and evidently is very good for business.. I am sure that line was at least a 3hr wait..

  27. Carol~ I agree.....JBJ singing with Jennifer was Fantastic!!!~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well I guess I'll break down and watch the Grammys.

Tina, who fed you tacos? Don't those people know that if they feed you, you'll come back?

    ReplyDelete
  29. lmbo Bonachichi~ The company fed us today~ I was talking to one of the managers and asked him how come, all of a sudden, we are getting fed really good food! I mean...once in a while they'd serve us hot dogs and chips, but now, at least once a month, if not more, they feed us yummy stuff~......and they also will come around with snacks or ice cream. He said to get used to it~ I'm just grateful~ I love free food~

    ReplyDelete
  30. omg....there is an ass in the class....he has no patience for those that just aren't getting it and are asking questions....he just said, "I just wish I could get a girl to go out with me for at least a week!" It was so hard for me not to laugh and explain to him why they don't!!!! :)~

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMG.. I love free food too.. we have so much in common..

    :O)

  32. Tina, I forgot to say something about your blog. I always hated change! I worked at General Motors for over 17 yrs. Just when you got comfortable with a job and people around you they would transfer you! I was low on the seniority pole so that happened a lot. When I finally had good seniority and stayed in one place,I got hurt on the job and was used where ever they needed a "crip". I was glad when they let me go into retirement. I do meet with a group of coworkers once a month. It is fun seeing them and keeping up with their lives.
You are like a chameleon lol! You will blend in just fine, you brown noser you :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. lol Mary~ How's this for brown nosing: I was talking to one of our new bosses.....I looked at her funny then said, "I had a nightmare about the new job last night and you were in it!" lol...you should have seen the look on her face!!!~
