Sounds Like Life To Me

by Dianne_in_Denver

I was thinking the other day how we each have different days that are "down" days to us for one reason or another.  Sometimes it is just "because" and other times it feels like and is a "real" reason.  As I was thinking how at least most of our days differ from one another, this new country song came to mind.  You know as long as I am a country song girl...I will always find a song for a subject.  It is sung by Darryl Worley and was previously done by Craig Morgan.  Really listen to the words and I hope and think it will bring a smile and a thought to each one of us as we have our "bad" days.

  2. I will be back in a bit to listen Dianne. I have to go fax those reports first.

    Morning Glories!

  3. Morning Hooters!
    congrats on 1st Lynn~~

Dianne, One part of that song always strikes me as so wrong. When the guy says his wife might be pregnant, his buddy orders drinks from the bartender. The wife sent the friend to find her husband because he fell off the wagon!

Hope everyone has a nice Monday- you know, as nice as Monday's can be! LOL

  4. Happy Monday Owls.

Dianne, I like country music, but I haven't heard this song or the singer before. I agree with Goldie about the friend ordering more drinks, when he was there to get the husband's arse home. Plus, the husband is spending apparently much needed money on booze in a bar.

Yes, we all have down days, and we handle them in different ways. For me, I usually withdraw and sometimes wallow in self pity and it usually doesn't last long. I appreciate friends who have snapped me out of it with a friendly phone call or email, most of the time without even knowing it.

  5. Lynn, You look lovely in your nutty greeness today. Glad to see your paperwork is done for another month,

Good morning Goldie and all the other Owls.

  6. Ok watched the video and Yes I agree with Goldie and Sacbarb! LOL I kept thinking didn't he fall off the wagon? Well lets just hitch a beer to that. :) Also I would like to note that they have a much better washer and dryer than I do. I bet it is still under warranty.

I actually tell myself all the time this is just life and it to will pass. Tho if I was two months late....... wait I freaking am!!!! It's called menopause. I think I will head to Scully's.

  7. Ok, just for the record---I was promoting drinking or falling off the wagon!! I guess I kind of skipped over that part and just was trying to relate to the fact that things happen and it is just life...so the rest of you owls...when you listen .... skip the part that his friend is buying him a drink and listen to the other parts..ok?

LYNN: I will meet you at Scully's shortly. PS bring you pedometer so we can measure our "arm steps" and then we can show BEBBI we can beat her any time. Also LYNN, I hope your two months late doesn't mean we will be having a baby shower..I'd rather be two months late on a bill anytime at this stage of life...cause' that wouldn't sound like "life to me"!!!

BEAR: I haven't heard a word from you regarding Chicago other than you were working on Huz. How is that going?

  8. P S I am already exhausted as I have been working in LYNNS factories all morning!!

I am getting ready to go and pick up my two GD's as they are off school and we are going to the mountains for two days. I picked a place that has a nice indoor pool and some other things to do around there so I am off . Of course the girls are making sure I bring the laptop.

  16. Oh now that I read back on my post I forgot the word not duh

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, I got to listen to it and never saw the video but heard the song before. I love it. I didn't mind that he said to get a round because it was in celebration of a new baby on the way. And, who's to say he was really an alcoholic? Maybe the wife was just a little emotional because he left for a while. I liked it..great song and very appropriate. We do all have a lot going on and ups and downs. It's about rolling with the punches for me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Guess I forgot the word NOT. Lol. Meet lynn and I at scullys

  21. Good evening Lynn D, Goldie, SacBarb, Whabbear, Dianne, DeeDee and Bebbi!

The Garlic Lady came in to get her taxes done today. I swear she either bathes in garlic or uses it as perfume. She would scare the hell out of any vampire! Don't get me wrong, she is a nice lady but...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ok I have just read yesterdays comments and this is what I saw:

DeeDee is practicing snot rockets on her front porch.

Bebbi and Goldie are having orgasms thinking about men in kilts with no underwear on.

Lynn D has seen penis cars going by her house with little penises driving them.

Bonachichi is having some kind of mental breakdown. She has gone all mushy on us.

What the hell is happening to this place?!!?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Shirley~ it's DeeDee's back porch....she doensn't have a front one~ :)~

Di~ Do not post from ur phone!!!! go git the laptop!!!! And did you get in the pool with the girls? They looked so cute~

    LynnD~ congrats on prettiest~ AGAIN~

    Di~ I love this song~ Darryl can sing....yes he can~

  24. Ok...now I am in room and on laptop.I might note that I wrote that first post on my regular computer at home not my phone.

TINA: I didn't go swimming but I will after dinner and hope that there is not a soul around. I mostly want to go into the hot tub but if there are people I might have to wear my sweats. j/s

Hi SHIRLEY: Nice to see you. How are you and mom doing? I miss seeing your posts but isn't tax season almost over?

The hotel I picked up in the mtns gives the kids all their meals free with me as paying adult. What a deal that was plus it was pay for tonight and tomorrow night is 17.95. They just remodedled the whole place and pool so it is nice and view of the mountains. We will roam around town tomorrow. I just want to do what the girls want to do. I already started finally reading a book and got right into it so that is nice for me for a change. Ok...time to eat

  25. Waving at all of today's beauties!

LynnD, You are the hottie of the day I see!

I got my hair colored and highlighted today. My reg. gal was on vaca so I made my apptmt with the owner. I have always wanted to have him "do me" but was afraid to switch lol! He is a doll! He is married and has to teen age sons.

Diane, your blog reminded me of him. We were talking about all kinds of things, one of which was "life" and how some days are worse then others and how people handle them differently. He said when he feels overwhelmed he just counts his many blessings. He is def. grateful for all he has and chooses to keep his spirits up as much as possible. He sure made my day brighter!
I went to pay and leave a tip and the cashier said, "oh, he never takes tips!" Now THAT really made my day brighter lol!
I donated it to the "green" cause that Aveda is promoting right now.

    Gottah go check my farms.....

    Diane, I a "country" girl too :)

  26. Good evening feathered friends!

DIANNE...I can't comment about the song or vid, as I can't watch or hear it.

When I have a down day, I tend to let it become a down week or month or year. I used to deal so much better with things. I lost a lot of spunk and spirit a few years ago and have had a hard time finding it again. Oh well.

Ok, so I was watching DWTS and I am soooo sick of Kate Gosselin boo-hooing. If she is that "fragile" then get your ass outta the spotlight. IMHO!

    SHIRLEY...LOL@ Garlic Lady!

  27. Well, I just wrote a whole paragraph and then deleted it. It was much to somber for this blog today. Let me just say I was laughing so hard at all of your comments. Too many to quote. I am glad to know all of you and I always keep loving thoughts for all of you.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Goldie..

You are so right.. "as nice as mondays can be" .. isn't that the truth..

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mary..

I think the rule of thumb in any salon is that the owners don't normally take tips.. BUT in every salon I have been to, and if the owner does my hair, I always tip and they always take it.. so kudos to your guy, for doing what is suppose to be done!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh whabby.. does that mean you can't be with all your friends in Chicago, ya know, the serial killers and the axe murderers.. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mary..

Glad you said that to Lani.. cause I am NOT a axe murderer.. just a simple ole serial killer.. :O)

  39. Mo..

  41. I am getting sleeper, that last comment did me in..

  42. Carol You crack me up, too!

    Bear LOL @ Morning, Whories!

LynnD I'm glad you got your reports done. Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging and farming. LOL

Goldie It turned out to be an okay Monday for me. How about you?

SacBarb Sometimes, I can really get into the wallowing in self pity. I guess if I'm going to do something, I'll do it all the way. LOL

DeeDee Why don't you invite Liz to joing our little nest? That would be fun.

Bebbi Remind me not to get in the elevator with you. LOL

Shirley Is the Garlic Lady the kind of person that might be on drugs. Seems to me one of the illegal drugs makes the person reek of the smell of garlic. I can't remember which drug, though. LOL @ your summary of yesrerdays posts!

Tina I don't think I've mentioned that I'm fascinated with your fascinator. Will you be bringing it to Chicago?

Maureen I'm sorry you've lost your spunk and hope things turn around for you soon. I agree about Kate, btw.

Mary Different salon owners have different arrangements with the other stylists who work in their salon. It could be that your guy is already taking a percentage of what the others bring in. They may be direct employees of his or renting space in his salon.

Slani I welcomed Jen the other day but she may not have seen it because it was pretty late.

Dianne Some days are def better than others. You are correct that sometimes there is a specific reason or worry that can get me down and other times it's just a general disatisfaction with everything. Fortunately, there are more good days than bad. Sometimes I have to remind myself of all the blessings I do have in my life.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, that was one long ass post. Sorry about that. There are typos, too, but I am not going to re-do it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. DIANNE: I always see this song as a tough love approach to friends that are having a bad day..week..month. I think that works really well sometimes..I've been 'snapped' out of more than one down day. I do think there are other times a little more sympathy and understanding is called for. I guess the bottom line is..whatever works to make someone feel better..right?

    LOL..spellcheck just flagged 'fadoo'..doesn't it know that's a real word? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Here's what life sounded like to me today..chisel chisel..yank yank..drill drill..push push..yeowch!!

I had a crown put on..problem was..the dentist couldn't get the temporary crown off. He used some kind of pliers and they slipped and he ended up hitting me in the jaw and almost knocking me out! The temp stayed in though. The funny part was amidst all this discomfort "Hey, Soul Sister" came on the radio..and I felt like you all were there..helping me get through it. :)

Oh and DIANNE..when my legs were up in the air and my head was on the ground and the dentist was pushing so hard to get the new crown in..I thought of you cuz "Single Ladies" came on the radio and I could just picture you doing your dance. :D

I'm pretty sore so I'm going to grab a painkiller and go lay back down in the old fadoo chair..

btw..the above paragraph was in the first post..which is why spellcheck flagged the word 'fadoo'..but I moved it to this post..so that whole paragraph makes no sense..I really need some sleep..

    G'night everyone..Sweet Dreams..

    ReplyDelete
  46. ps/ After all I went through to get this crown..I was very disappointed to find there wasn't a ruby in it at the very least.. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Zona I hope the drugs treat you well and that you are able to rest comfortably.

    Sweet dreams, HOoters!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thank you for welcoming Jennifer. She has said to me more than once,"they are such nice people",meaning all of you. I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth. LOL I think we were all Rodeo Clowns together in another lifetime.

When I am in the dumps I look out my window at the trees and foliage and hills and suck in the beauty. When I was little I thought God lived in the trees.

    Good night and sleep well.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ZONA - Shoot....no rubies? Oh, well.....;) Hopefully you will be a fog soon in your old fadoo chair!!

SLIN - Sweet dreams to you, too!!

DIANNE - Enjoy the time with your GD's!! Are you still in the hot tub? Life does get in the way sometimes and I try not to let it get me down. But I have some awesome friends that "lift me up"!!!

WHABBY - Your "morning whories" made me :O)

Waving a wing at everyone else....coffee just got done brewing. Freakin' hell.....just realized that I don't work til 6 today, but forgot to adjust my alarm. Oh, well....I have plenty of laundry to fold ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. SLANI - You and I were typing at the same time. I caught JENNIFER'S first post and made it a point to welcome her. I hope she saw that....cuz I figured out who she was right away!! I hope you are having a good night ♥

  53. oh heck....someone wrote something that I was gonna comment on....and now I can't remember who~

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think the garlic comment that Bonachichi made a few days ago directed to me, might have been meant for Shirley about the Garlic customer. Finally, the mystery may be solved! I do love a good mystery.

Shirley, did you talk about Ms. Garlic before on here?
