This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Tina I have been reflecting on Memorial Day all weekend, and we must in my mind, take a moment to remember all of the soldiers past and present who have fought to give us our freedoms and yet still don't have all of theirs.
I am talking about the soldiers who are gay and lesbian. It is time that this country recognizes freedom for all especially in this case or we are cowards as a nation.
We need to fight for them, stand up and make this right so that their sacrifices count.
I am humbled by anyone who has fought for our country. Bless them all.
Shirley, I think LynnD was referring to those sidebags hanging outside your knees. They LOOK like sidebags. What'd you do, get a "two-fer" boob job?
We're so far removed from the terrors of war, it's easy to forget that Memorial day is more than just a summer gateway day off from work. We should give all our service men & women the respect they deserve for protecting our freedom. Regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation, they're all heros.
that was my delete....I used a avatar that I thought proved to be a little risque.....moobs.....omg!!
and that other one....could he have pulled his suit up any higher!?
I feel like putting the top down and driving to the coast today....but I don't have a convertible AND its much easier just to talk about going than to actually do it......
DeeDee, "too risque" is not a phrase I thought you knew existed. I assume your gentleman avatar sings soprano?
I have begun celebrating this Memorial Day bt becomming a different race. I am now a mulatto. Black and purple. It goes well with the massive screw-up I committed against my hair, the color of which can only be described as, "freckle".
(finishing Shirleys dose of ether in order to steal her top)....lol at "freckle"....and u won't find a qualified colorist today....
but you may find a nice wig...ijs...
OMG!! This ether was on "HIGH" dose!! I think I may have killed Shirley!! Someone take her purse!!
I mean...her pulse....lol
I've got her top....oh wait...I didn't know about these "tattoo's"....somebody help me reload her top....careful....don't let go of that strap....you'll put your eye out!!
Thanks, Lynn D! It's high time this country honored and accepted all people who are ready and willing to put their lives on the line through military service.
I was very encouraged by the votes this week on repealing DADT, and very disappointed by the politicians who voted against on the pretext that votes to repeal should have followed the review and report, rather than preceding it.
The analysis and report on "how" to implement repeal should be about two pages long, and hardly needs to survey all of the hundreds of thousands of people serving today. A crisp "repeal has had no impact on recruitment, retention, or unit cohesion in country after country that has already lifted their bans on open gays and lesbians" would suffice.
And to those who say that repeal here in the US comes with special circumstances compared to other countries because of DOMA, well, yep, the end of the military ban will be complicated by DOMA. If there's nothing inherently wrong with us gays and lesbians and our relationships, which the repeal of DADT is a de facto recognition of, then what is the rationale for continuing to discriminate against our relationships?
That's exactly why you've seen groups like the Family Research Council, which exists ostensibly to promote and strengthen American families, getting into the DADT repeal issue so strongly. They know that when it comes to their anti-gay positions, they're sitting on a pack of cards.
IMHO....its a house of cards...and the winds of change are blowing...
And regarding the release of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga....
talk about courage and sacrifice for human rights.....I am hoping Hillary Clinton will offer them asylum in the United States and get them over here before it is too late.....they have become worldwide icons in the struggle for LGBT rights....and they deserve the "Rosa Parks" treatment!!
I am waiting to hear where interested parties can donate for whatever it takes to assure their safety and well being.....I really want to help...
I just got home from work. And it was a joy to wait on so many vets today!! One of my favorite customers is a WWII vet. He served in the Navy and probably on a ship that my Grandpa cooked for!! It was a pleasure and an honor to thank every single one of them ♥
I'll be back later. Crazy busy and we had truck today, too. Naptime!!
DeeDee Oh, my, how you've changed! I don't know that you are the prettiest today. Let's just say "interesting" shall we?
Shirley Okay, is that your new camouflage for your water balloons? I guess you could also sand bag your door in case the waters are rising. I wouldn't want to be standing next to you if you turned suddently....ijs. There does seem to be a faint odor of ether lingering around you. I wonder why.
LynnD LMAO @ Depends box!
Bonach Why are you black and blue? What did you do to yourself now?
EBJ I'm imagining Shirley in your pool with her "water wings". LOL
Carol Sounds like a hot one! I meant the weather this time, not the Italian Stallions. LOL
Dianne Maybe that's where the saying "Tit for tat" comes from. LOL
Bear Equal rights, equal respect. It just has to happen.
Tina Thank you for the moving poem today. It brought tears to my eyes. We owe our heroes, past and present, so very much.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day. Let's not forget to reflect for a moment on what this day really stands for.
Thank you to all of the men and women who have served in our military for everything they have done, every sacrifice they have made, to protect our rights and our freedoms. Thank you also to all that are serving now and in the future. We wouldn't have all that we do without you.
The poem was beautiful TINA..thank you.
DEEDEE: I see you were letting it all hang out in 51..way to BAM! ;)
SHIRLEY: You're all ready to swim..you have great flotation devices.. ;)
LYNN: Why are all old men so high waisted? :D
BONACHI: You're right..heroes, every one..
EBJ: Have you been in the pool yet? Tell Mr EBJ it's time to dive! :D
CAROL: Try to stay cool..have a couple daiquiris! ;)
JODI: Mr Z's dad was a cook in the Navy..I don't think he was that good a cook though..he was thrown off the ship into the harbor. ;)
BEAR: I will never give up hope that respect is shown to all..it's only right.
DIANNE: Let me know if you find out.. ;)
J/LIN: LOL@ camouflage for SHIRLEY's water balloons! I wonder if DEEDEE's avatar at #1 is hiding a super soaker..I can't quite tell.. ;)
Well the heat is on here..it was 100 yesterday and will just be getting hotter. We're looking at 112 by the weekend. Time to swim! :D
I am in love....with these shoes....Christian Louboutin.....bought em....over the phone..today.....will have them on my tootsies Wednesday....I needed a Memorial Day present......
DEE DEE - You're the BAMMIEST today....especially in that striped man diaper!! lol!! But oooh, la, la.....love your new shoes!! Those are some fancy "whorestompers"!!!
SHIRLEY - Honey....seriously I'm worried about your back!!
LYNN - Well said!! It shouldn't make a difference who you want to love, if you want to serve our country......that is all that matters. PERIOD!!!
BONACHICHI - They are ALL heroes in my book!!
EBJ - Thank you to your Grandpa...he made the ultimate sacrifice ♥
CAROL - I sure all your hard work was worth it today!!
DIANNE - lol @ tatts or titts!!
WHABBY - One small step. :O)
SLIN - I am ever conscious of what this day stands for. Many men in my family have served, including both my brothers.
ZONA - Enough water in the pool yet?!!? And yes, I guess that would be a gauge in his cooking skills!!
J/Lin, for the record, I did not DO anything to MYSELF. I was in the desert. With off-road nuts. I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time for 3 unfotunate meetings with trees and 2 misguided attempts to keep cars on 4 wheels. Well, they kept the 4 wheels, just not on the ground where cars with any sense keep 'em. Climbing out of cars sucks.
Very funny Bonachichi! I'm glad you think my birth defect is amusing. I'll have you know it took a team of 10 doctors, 5 nurses and an auto-body repairman to pull me out of my mother. That's why I was a month late.
Thank you for the beautiful poem TINA. I think about our military men and women every day and pray for them. I look for the day when all people will be treated with respect and given their equal rights.
DEEDEE-Is JoJo GoGo a cage dancer?
ZONA-What a coincidence, my Russian grandfather threw someone off his ship in Russia. I presume since he was on your husbands side and not yours' it was in America.
I hope you all had a fun and safe Memorial Day. So many thanks to be given to ALL who have served to protect our freedom. And ANYONE that wants to dedicate their lives, whether for a tour or a career, should be honored for it. Regardless of their sexual orientation...period.
I truly can't respond to all the comments today, but let me at least say I am waving a wing to ALL of you.
SHIRLEY...is that a pic of before or after the breast reduction? LOL!
I don't really know who she is....it was just an add request and I approved it because of mutual friends.....I was afraid approving strangers would come back to bite me on the pu...tail!!
Thanks for the heads up Lani....I am going to see what she has done.....WHAT HAS SHE DONE!!??
doing better- thanh you captain and coke. of couse not taking pain meds at same time. thought i would save them for work. since work is usually a pain in my ass, i figured i'd kill 2 birds with one stone (or with drugs) ;)
hope everyone is well-talk to you tommorrow- thanks for checking on me Hodi!
SHIRLEY - I worked all weekend, so no fun cookouts for me. Stopped at Cousin's Subs on the way home and picked up subs for me and Sam....oh, and peanut butter cookies with Reese's Pieces in them. OMG!!! So good!!
I see that Jodi, Mo, Slan and Zona have all stopped in today, too. I hope everyone had a good day. No BBQ here today. My son handed his kids back over to their mother then headed out to spend a couple of days with his tattoo artist friend. He has a red heart on his chest with the ex's name (Monica) tattooed in the middle of it so they are going to do something about that. Maybe he'll change it to "Mother". LMAO! Word to the wise: never tattoo someone's name on your body no matter how great you think the relationship is.
Tina, Thanks for the inspiring poem. I agree with everything everyone else said about thanking all those that fought and are still fighting for our freedom and also, for equal rights for all.
I hope everyone had a great day. Mine was quiet but good. I had BBQ ribs, potato salad, green salad, asparagus, and various crudities at my son's. No wine because I had to drive home.
Zona, Your FIL was thrown off the ship? That's harsh! How bad could his food have been?
J/L, LOL at your tattoo advice. My advice it just don't get a tattoo...period. Even if you like them, they don't age that well. I have a friend who had a rosebud tattoo done on her boob when she was in her 20s. Now she is 60 and it is a rose in full bloom and I think it is growing a stem.

Hows the weather in Helsinki today?
Morning glories!
ReplyDeleteDeedee BAM! Your the prettiest again today!
Hey I have seen that swimsuit, on the new depends box for men. Summer wear for the older set.
Shirley I can't tell but it looks like you have four boobies. Kinda like a two head calf or something.
Tina I have been reflecting on Memorial Day all weekend, and we must in my mind, take a moment to remember all of the soldiers past and present who have fought to give us our freedoms and yet still don't have all of theirs.

Gee, would you look at that? Someone deleted their comment #1 and didn't cop to it. Looks like something DeeDee would do.
ReplyDeletehello again....

OMG!! Shirley has fainted!! Somebody SLAP her!!! Smack her good!
ReplyDelete**opens eyes**

**faints again**
Good morning, and happy Memorial Day!
ReplyDeleteI want to give my thanks to everyone who has served our country, past and present.
A special mention of my grandpa Frank, who was killed in the Phillipines during WWII.
He left a wife and 5 little kids.
Also my brother, John, who has served in Iraq twice.
His second tour was shortly after he became a single father, he had just gotten custody of the 2 young kids.
The men and women sacrifice so much.
Congrats on 1st today Dee Dee!
Shirley, my what huge t!ts you have!!!
Well said Lynn, I agree with you 100%.

ReplyDeleteI hope everyone had a great day.
Good night and sweet dreams everyone.
JODI: You have the best avatar of everyone here.
ReplyDeleteTINA: Very nice poem and blog...thank you. My elderly aunt (9)5 told us that Memorial Day used to be called Decoration Day and it was a day that you put flowers on everyone that had passed away graves not just military. Anyone remember that?
How was graduation and grad night? In-laws still there or have they left by now?
Off to bed....night to all.
SLIN - You can only hope ;)
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - I KNOW....right?!!?
I have the day off. Getting my hair cut @ 9am then doing lunch with my ex SIL.
ReplyDelete
