Neighbors

by Bonachichi

I have a neighbor whom I've been slowly driving insane. His name is Lindy, and he's somewhere in his 70's. I think it started with the flamingos. Pink, yard-trash flamingos. Whilst he and his wife were on vacation, I bought these relics at a yard sale then installed them on his front lawn. Lindy is a staunch democrat, so I figured it would be fitting to add a "McCain/Palin" campaign poster, which I borrowed in the middle of the night from some street corner. I never did tell him it was me who did it.

Then we were talking about rats. Lindy hates his neighbor on the other side because he says they have rats.  A couple days later, I was up when the Sunday paper was delivered. It comes in little plastic bags. I'd found a golf ball the day before, which I thought was surely a sign. I put the golf ball in the bag with the paper and waited to see what happened. Lindy came out in his robe and slippers to get his paper. Apparently eager for news, he dumped it up-side-down and the golf ball came out, bouncing round his feet. He must have still had rats in mind, because he screamed and started dancing right there on the driveway. I never did tell him it was me who did it.

Lindy and his wife came home from an RV trip a couple weeks ago. I'd found one of those red flags that landscapers use to mark water lines and I put it in his front lawn. Just the one lonely flag. The next day, who do I see but Lindy. First, he went to the neighbor across the street. The two of them went over to look at the flag. Then Lindy got another neighbor from two doors down. The three of them were standing around the flag with puzzled expressions. I never did tell him it was me who did it.

The girls next door are the only ones who know. I didn't tell them, they figured it out. They tell me Lindy knows there's a joker in the neighborhood, but not who it is. They also tell me that once Lindy figures out he's been pranked, he gets a laugh. Do any of you prank your neighbors? Do they prank you?

  2. We used to have neighbors across the street that were so fun~ One time, Kreig saw the trunk of my car open in the garage......he decided to crawl under it and when I came out to get the rest of the groceries, he was going to scare me! Well, what he didn't know was that my MIL was the one that went shopping and SHE was unloading the car. She came out, he grabbed her leg, and omg....I don't know who screamed the loudest!!!! (yes I do...HE DID!!!) I wish he and his family still lived there~

  3. Bonachichi: It sounds like it is all in good fun. We have friendly neighbors but no pranksters. We did have some neighbors that had a child who had some emotional issues. She caused a lot of havic with several neighbors but we survived it. I felt bad for her. Her mother was never around and I think her parents were divorced. She spent a lot of time alone. They moved away though and all is peaceful in my little neighborhood.

  6. Good morning Tina, Bebbi, everyone stopping by later.

Tina, I figured you for a prankster. No reason at all for thinking that... just some random thought.

Bebbi, I'm sorry you don't know the sheer joy of not knowing what your neighbors are going to do to you next. In a good way.

  10. Hey there Hooters!
Tina, k, your a beauty today (rolling eyes)

Bonachi, I live out in the country where my neighbors are very protective of their "space". Most have dogs and motion lights. I have lived here for over 30 yrs and never punked or got punked lol! We all watch out for each other, so all is good. The only prankster I have is from a certain farmer on FT who shall go nameless....Tina!!
I have some running around to do today, so have a great day everyone!!

  13. Wait. I just read that Tina USED to have neighbors across the street. What happened to them? The one guy's probably still in the trunk from when MumTina locked him in there.

  14. Mary/MI, I would risk a prank or two in your neighborhood... I don't sit and plan; I'm not that organized. I just see something and do it.

The only place I'd think twice about is DeeDee's. Then I'd go ahead and do it. She'd probably shoot me. Fun for all.

  15. Happy Saturday, hooters!

    Tina is prettiest today!

We had a couple kids in this neighborhood who used to ring the doorbell and run. They did it a lot, one night pretty late and that scared me.

One day MR. EBJ was in the garage. Our garage door has glass at the top. He's tall, and saw 2 young boys walking up the driveway. He heard them ring the bell and saw them run.

He got in his truck and followed them, made them show him where they lived, and went to speak to the parents.

He talked to one boys mom (the other boy was visiting) and told her he wasn't mad but wanted them to stop.

She was very nice about it and we have never had it happen again.

I had a crazy neighbor when I lived in Hayward, she was literally nuts and would call the police on all of us neighbors pretty often.

More than once I had the police go through my house when no one was home for a "welfare check". She knew the hours we worked but liked to keep the police busy.

They always left a card so we knew they had been in the house. They used to jimmy one of the back doors to get in. Never broke

We've been swimming all afternoon, finally getting a decent tan!

MR. E goes to the dr. this coming Weds. to see how his broken bone is healing. He will prob. be off work another month.

Dee Dee thank you for the update on Lisa. Glad she is touring around and enjoying herself.

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

  16. Jeez, EBJ. I hope I'm not a psycho. At the very least, if I have to be a psycho, I want to at least have imagination about it. Ringing the door-chimes is pedestrian. Maybe ringing the door-chimes and having a realistic lion's roar when the occupant opens the door... just to see what happens.

  17. BONACHI: I've lived in the same neighborhood almost all my life..I can't remember ever pranking any of my neighbors. We've all known each other a long time and like to help each other as much as we can. I do remember putting on bunny ears, a tail and whiskers to deliver Easter candy once..it wasn't a prank..but I think I might have scared a few people..lol..

When I was 16..some of my friends and I went to another friend's house and poured some liquid Tide on their lawn. When the sprinklers came on..they had a yard full of bubbles! Turns out it helped them with their ant problem!

TINA: You do have neighbors..and I'm sure they too know how pretty you are! :)

    DEEDEE: Find any treasures?

BEBBI: Our neighborhood is pretty boring too..well once the brothers who threw power tools at each other moved away that is.. ;)

MARY: LOL @ your 'almost' nameless farmer..that made me laugh..

EBJ: Oh..the old ring and run routine..the kids around here don't do that to us anymore. It takes me so long to hobble to the front door..I think they lose interest!

Going back to try and get to that elusive million..not that it matters now..lol..

    Have a good night everyone!

  18. The yard we poured Tide on was far away from here..my parents would have been furious if I'd done that to any of our neighbors..ants or not..lol..
