Animal Lovers

by Jennifer

You darn animal lovers, you've started to turn me into worrying about those four legged creatures. Yes, I'm talking to all of you that visit the blog. In the past, I will admit, I usually skimmed past the comments that were in regard to anything with four legs. However, I will tell you what really turned me around was our dear friend Caryn. Every day on Facebook she shares her stories of healing dogs that were neglected. The dog's stories and all what they have been through has my heart singing a different tune in regards to caring for pets. I'm truly amazed at the dedication and love she pours into their healing process. I so admire her for it.

Yesterday, there was a homeless man on the street corner with a sign looking for work to help with gas & food. Along beside him was his trusty dog. For the first time ever I was more worried about the dog then the guy. All afternoon, I kept thinking about that dog and was wondering if he/she was up to date on its shots!

Even though I'm really now into supporting neglected animals, I still have not bonded with the cat. Cats still scare the heck out of me. They look kind of cute on a card or calender, but in person I feel like they are always giving me the evil eye. Maybe that will change one day, but I think it is going to take a while.

So now that I have turned the corner about pets, please tell me more about yours.

  1. Jennifer~ I LOVE my cat~ I call her Cheena or Cha Cha~ She's precious and smells so good! I picked her up on Monday and kissed her over and over again in front of my MIL.....I thought she was going to gag! It was great! :D

  3. Sorry Jennifer, I can't help you out with this blog. I'm afraid of animals (even some of the human kind!).

Tina good moaning to you! The thought of you kissing your pussy has given me a mental picture I wished I didn't have!

  5. Good moaning!

I love my animals! We have Nancy the kitty, and Poe, an African Grey parrot.

I've had pets most of my life, I've had a horse, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, dogs and cats. Love them all.

Luckily I have to get ready for work, or I could go on and on!

Hi Tina, Shirley and Dee Dee.

    Have a great day!

  6. Hello Hooters!

I had 2 turtles, one ran away from home and the other one ate every living thing in my yard. A few snakes, 2 tarantulas. A bird that hurled profanities at people, a wolf. The wolf ate the bird.

I had a mini-horse who bit and kicked. A rabbit that ate my electricity. Guinea pigs that drove me nuts and of course, my dogs Oscar, Elmo (rest their souls) and Ernie.

I have never had a cat.

  7. Jennifer, it might be nice to have a little fella around the house... Dogs are loyal, always happy to see you and so nice to snuggle with on a cold night.

  8. Good morning, Tina, Shirley, Judy, and Bon!

I wish we could have pets, but we're both allergic to both cats and dogs! Not sure about African Grays, though!

  9. Good Moaning and Morning to all!

Jennifer- If I start talking about my 4 legged baby, you will never hear the end. She is love, trust, kindness, loyalty and happiness inside of 85 pounds of black fur and big brown eyes.

I am not a true cat fan either- was attacked by a Siamese (for no reason!!)once. After he jumped on my head and scratched my face, I felt no guilt at all about stuffing my foot up his ass and booting him down the basement stairs...sorry cat lovers.

By the way, I do not want to visualize tina's~ pussy either!

Flapping a wing at all of you!

  10. Happy Wednesday Owls.

Jennifer, I had a cat for most of my school years. My Mom didn't like him to sleep in my bed so she would put him out at night. He would climb up to my bedroom window and meow and I would open the window so he could come in (we didn't have a screen on that window). Then when my Mom came in the room to say goodnight, he would get close to my leg and lay flat so she didn't see an extra lump in the bed.

  11. Tina, You are moaning in first again.

    Shirley, Thanks for that visual...NOT!

Bonachichi, Exactly how does a turtle 'run' away. Couldn't you catch up with him?

Zona, You could have been cooked in water that hot or at the very least par-boiled!

Waving a wing to DeeDee, EBJ, Goldie Bear, and all the other Owls.

  12. sacBarb; I never saw the turtle move. Not ever. One day it cornered my daughter in the kitchen. She was on the counter, screaming. I don't know how it got there.

Then I took it outside whilst I was washing the car. Damn thing skee-daddled. I searched all over, no turtle. First he was there, then he was gone.

  13. Tina Good Moaning to you, too, my Pretty.

Jennifer I've always been an animal lover. As a child, we had cats, dogs, fish and parakeets so, for me, it is normal to have pets. I used to catch feral kittens and domesticate them but now I just have the one 19 yr old siamese mix kitty and my son's pit bull, Ursula. Ursula is 1 yr old and finally not too terrified of the old cat. Now, they like to do a bit of snuggling. The cat rubs her muzzle all over the dog's muzzle and the dog clean's the cat's ears.

We are having a bit of a heat wave here. It got up to the high 90's yesterday and that is almost unheard of here on the coast. Most of the summer we have been cool and overcast, now suddenly we have a heat wave.

  15. Morning Glories!

Tina groaning and moaning I see.

Jennifer I love animals but I have a really hard time seeing and reading about animal abuse and rescue. I have 3 rescue dogs but luckily none of them had been abused like the ones Caryn posts about.

I always worry when I see a homeless person with a pet. I wonder how they feed it and make sure it gets water. Then I am torn because that may be the only friend they have.

    Waving at everyone!

  16. Oh J/L you gad to go and mention parakeets....I miss my Ruby Crump ...may she rest in peace.....

    I love animals...bugs...snakes....all of them....

and FYI...my little Belle is the cutest dog I have EVER seen...lol...all dogs are beautiful...such treasures....

Tina....isn't your pussy a long hair?? You know...with those "ears" sticking out on the sides???

lmao @ Goldie stuffing her foot up the cats ass....lololol.... Siamese can be mean....lq

  17. Hi!
    I guess I didn't get first :)

Sorry to pop in after so long and ask a favor but.....I have this friend......She lives far away...And.....Here is the e-mail I'm sending her:

I was thinking about what you said about having a "purpose" and wanted to share some thoughts/experiences with you. When I first became disabled and could no longer work, I had a very difficult time. I really enjoyed my work and was good at it. (modest too) None of my friends were home during the day, so there really wasn't even anyone to have a conversation with. I did try one of those disabled community things and to tell you the truth, I found it more depressing than helpful. All everyone did was talk about what they COULDN'T do and how much pain they were in. I was having a hard enough time adjusting, I really didn't need to focus on that so I stopped going. I eventually joined a little blog community that consisted of women around my age plus or minus. It wasn't "about" anything in particular, someone would submit a short blog about a subject they chose ( I even did a few, but it's not a requirement)and other blog members would comment throughout the day. Some of the blogs were thought provoking, some were funny, but more importantly, I felt "connected" to people throughout the day and got the opportunity to know a bunch of new people. We did talk about illnesses on occasion, ( I remember doing a bit of whining) but that was not the main focus. We were "there" for each other when someone was having a crisis or needed to vent. Some of us even shared our actual addresses and sent stuff through the mail. Others were able to meet each other in person. The blog was about life in general not just illness or disability and it helped me tremendously. I no longer participate, not because I became disenchanted, just because I no longer have the time to devote to it. I would be happy to pop back in and introduce you, if you feel like you would enjoy it. There are no requirements, you don't even have to make comments, You can just read and "lurk". I can't really explain what the feeling of belonging somewhere did, but it gave me the incentive to figure out a way to continue a hobby I loved, but didn't think I was physically capable of. Instead of giving up jewelry designing, I modified the equipment needed to suit the positions my body would tolerate. it's still working and I still think of the wonderful people I met.

Hope you guys don't mind...her name is Liane..Back surgery....

Still think of you all, maybe you can do for her what you did for me?

  18. Hey Scirish, Good to see you pop in. You have been missed. I can't speak for everyone, but I would welcome Liane to the Owls Nest. And while I am at it, it would be good if you could pop in occasionally just to let us know you're OK, even if you don't have time to comment every day.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So when will we see Liane? DeeDee, you have to change your avatar for the occasion. Something that won't scare the shit out of guests, maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  20. yay Scirish~ So nice to see you~ I'm all for Liane hanging out with us......as long as she's not prettier than me~ ijs~ :D

TINA...no one could ever be prettier then you :)~

JENNIFER...sweet blog and ironic, too. I'll get to that in a minute.
I have always been a dog person, but have become a cat care giver! I watch my niece Goofus McKitty Face when Joni is out of town. Goofus now has 2 siblings...Jerry and Elaine! I will have my hands full next time she is away! I do love the kitty, but I am still often afraid of her :(

The irony will be my next post...

  24. I had to gasp a bit when I opened the blog and saw the picture of the boxer. I thought the blog was by our BIRDEEEEE.

Most of you know that BIRDEE has 2 Boxers...RUBY and BOZ. Well, RUBY is very ill right now. BIRDEE thought of posting, but didn't feel right since she has been MIA for so long. I decided to open my pie-hole and tell you all!

It would mean so much to BIRDEE if you could keep her and RUBY in your thoughts and prayers. I really am not sure who is in more pain...BIRDEE or RUBY. They have been constant companions for a few years now and as you all know, pets are certainly part of the family.

Thanks feathered friends...I know you will all come thru for our BIRDEE!!

  32. You all are the best! Jennifer, cats used to kinda weird me out as well until I had one adopt me. They do have an odd kind of stare, but I now think they are trying to mind meld me into giving them scritches or maybe treats?

Not much new with me....Playing decorator with the new house. It's almost done. Silly Craig is saying I gutted it....I only changed all the paint, woodwork, cabinets and floors. I have no idea what he means!

  33. Scirish It's so great to see you here! Please pop in more often. I'd love to get to know Liane, too. Please tell her that she is welcome to stop in anytime. And LOL at not gutting your new house. Men are so weird. :)

MO Thanks for telling us about Birdee and her sweet Ruby. I will include them in my prayers. Ask Birdee to stop back in to visit when she can.
