(Sung to the tune "Jingle Bells")
Dashing through the snow in my rusty Chevrolet.
Down the road I go, sliding all the way.
I need new piston rings. I need some new snow tires.
My car is held together by a piece of chicken wire!
Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!
I went to IGA to get some Christmas cheer.
I just passed up my left front tire and it's gettin' hard to steer.
Speeding down the highway, right past the county cops.
I have to drag my swampers just to get the car to stop.
Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!
Bouncing through the snowdrifts in a big, blue cloud of smoke.
People laugh as I drive by; I wonder what's the joke!
I have to get to Wal-Mart to pick up my layaway,
Cause Santa's comin' soon in his big, old, rusty sleigh!
Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusttttttttty Chevroooooooleeeeeet!

ReplyDeleteGreat and festive song Shirley!! I have had a Rusty Chevrolet!! :) he he..love it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a glaze of ice on everything here. I slid to my car this morning.
ReplyDeleteHellooooooooooo

ReplyDeletenow this is the straw that broke the camels back!!
ReplyDeleteWHERE IS IT!?! GIVE IT BACK!!!
Hi Guys!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: That song could be about a couple of cars Mr Z and I owned. If we'd only been able to keep up the repairs..way too expensive..and keep them we'd have two highly sought after 'muscle' cars today. One was a '66 Mustang..the other a '70 Monaco. I loved both of those cars. Oh well, no use crying over spilt motor oil..and anti-freeze..and grinding gears..and backfires.. ;)
BEBBI: Good Morning Beautiful! Be careful who's ding dong you're Bammalamma-ing..unless they like that sort of thing... ;)
DIANNE: Raining here..it's coming your way!
BEAR: We went from 82 two days ago to 64 and rain today..I like the cooler temps because it just seems more festive somehow...
DEEDEE: Hmmm..rough night? ;)
Hi Dianne, DeeDee, Zona and Whabby
ReplyDeleteKathy: Yes, I have to be careful of that now that I am a single woman. :)
DeeDee: I took the ring
ReplyDeleteFrom 51..I kinda like the middle when I can get it..ijs..
ReplyDeleteJENNIFER: Good to see you!! :)
JODI: Me too. ;)
MO: Who me? I've been trying to blow warm air your way! *puff puff* :D
Well all the cookies are done..700frosted sugar cookies and 300 chocolate chip..and off they go to work with Mr Z today..I don't think that's very fair! ;)
Being postally challenged like I am..it was almost a miracle that we got all of our cards and packages mailed yesterday. We had to wait in line for 45m because they only had 2 people working. By the time we left the line was out the door and going down the sidewalk. Yoo hoo post office..it's the holidays! sheesh..
I think we're finally caught up..yay!! :D
♪♫♪HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET MARY..HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOOOOUU!♪♫♪
ReplyDeletePoor DEEDEE...sounds like you are falling apart. I saw something rolling around the manor yesterday...it could have been a ring or an eye....I think the dog got it!
ReplyDeleteThings are nice in the weather dept here. The snow that was "supposed" to leave 3" skipped us completely..yea! This is so weird to not have had a drop of snow into December...record breaking!
Went for first of two more doctor/test appts today and the hernia they thought I might have making me sick is so small it doesn't need to be dealt with...so good..no more surgery.
ZONA: Glad to hear you got all those cookies finally done..making me hungry.
BEBBI: I am so glad you have moved to your own place and starting to be happy again. It sure makes the holidays nicer, doesn't it?
TINA....WAKE UP!!!!!
BEAR:; 40 is no coat weather for us in Denver. You need to come visit soon.
Dianne: Yes, it does! The peace is incredible. IT's so hard to live with someone who's negative and very volatile. I am still adjusting but already feel so much better. I woke myself up laughing last night. I am able to live and breathe now..! :) :) :)

Hi, Bebbi!
ReplyDeleteDianne, if by going to Denver I could help in any way with your nausea, I would! I'm still just horrified that you're having to go through that, and they can't diagnose why!
Hugs again!
Zona: We're back in the desert on the 26th, and the long-range forecast is certainly not showing any sudden heat wave! :(
Mary: Still soaking up the solitude tonight! :)
ReplyDeleteTina: Congratulations!!! LOL!
Happy Thong Thursday Owls.
ReplyDeleteBebbi, You are the prettiest today.
Di, Yayyy for no hernia surgery! So good to see you here today.
Bear, It's 43 here. We are so spoiled!
DeeDee, I hope whatever you did last night was worth it!
Zona, Glad the cookies are done. Now Mr. Z can start on the pirogi.
Tina, Happy Birthday to Mr. T. Was he surprised?
Mary, Happy Birthday, ya cougar.
Mo, That's way too cold for me.
Shirley, We have had many cars like the one in the song. Love the song.
ReplyDeleteLast night Sharon and I went to see the Rockettes who were performing right here in River City. Those girls are amazing, always in unison and their lines perfectly straight.
Sacbarb, I would love to see the Rockettes! Hopefully they will make it to Michigan too!
ReplyDeleteTina HOORAY!! Just how long have those sheets been in the hamper? ijs
Diane, I sure have been missing you:(
Waving at those mia~~~~
lmbo mary~ He's home~ the hubby AND the kid~ yay~
ReplyDeleteWqaving to all my HOoterish friends!
ReplyDeleteI've been out shopping and not enjoying it at all and being very stressed because I need to get things in the mail for Christmas and I still don't even have all the things I need to. Ugh!
Bebbi You are beautiful today and everyday and I'm so glad you are able to breathe again.
Dianne I sure hope they figure out what is going on that is making you feel so bad. We may all need to go to Denver and kick some doctor butt.
Tina Yay for the kid making it home!
Mary I didn't wake up until 11:00 a.m. today. I was horrified because I have so much to do.
Zona I can't even imagine baking that many cookies. When do you start....July? I'm stressing because I haven't done any baking at all and don't know when I will be able to.
DeeDee Maybe the nipple ring and eyeball are decorating your tree. And what's that burning in the fireplace?
SacBarb and Bear It is about 52 here on the coast and I'm whining about it.
ReplyDeleteMO You are definitely NOT an old broad.
Did anyone notice that I was "wquaving" at you all? I do believe that is a special form of waving usually done by royalty or beauty queens while riding on a float.
ReplyDeletelol J/L~ it's the first thing i noticed~ I'm stressing about my xmas cards!!! they aren't making themselves....and they're killing me~
ReplyDeleteTina, My Christmas cards didn't make themselves and I didn't make them either. I have had all the stuff since Halloween, but it doesn't look like they are going to get done. Damn! I am working almost every day until I leave for San Diego. I need more hours in my day!
ReplyDeleteSacBarb~ I'm even thinking of taking more days off from work just to finish them~ how sad is that?~
ReplyDeleteTina, I better get a hand made card soon! :):) Get busy!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Justlin!Wqaving back at yah!!
I think we all need to step back and breath!! I actually enjoy sending out cards. It is one time I really feel connected to my friends & family. It's my way of letting them know I am thinking of them even though we don't always connect through the year. Facebook has changed that a bit lol!!
My Christmas cards and address book are sitting on the dining room table as I type. I am only on the C's. Oh, and how not in the spirit am I? I still have pumpkins on my mantle. Did I tell you that?
ReplyDeleteJustlin lol @ your pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteMost of my family is in the "S". 3 pages!
I cheat, I have the "Turbo Label writer"
I just go to my puter address file and automatically print out the addresses on stickers!
I use it for my business and VFW mailings.
Time to walk the dog and get to bed.
Nite JL :)
