About a month ago, I met one of my step-daughters for lunch. I arrived at the restaurant before her and I really had to use the bathroom. I asked the hostess where the woman's room was and she pointed me in the right direction. I headed straight to the restroom and rushed through the door. This is how my mind worked for the two seconds it took me to rush through the door and start entering the nearest stall:
"God, I've got to pee. That's a weird little sink. Why is it so low? It's very shiny and clean. Why does the drain have a cover on it? Oh, it's a bidet. A bidet? That's weird. I've never seen a bidet in a public restroom before. Right out here in the open? No privacy? Ha ha ha! That would be awkward. No, it's not a bidet. It's so low. It must be a urinal for the little boys that their mom's bring in here. Okay. Entering stall. Clean toilet. Wait! Did I ever look at the restroom door before I came in? No? Crap!"
I high-tailed it out of there, looked at the front of the door and, sure enough, I'd been in the men's room.
So, that was the day I was Dopey. I still laugh when I think of my irrational thought that there was a bidet in a pubic restroom. Can you imagine walking into a restroom and seeing some woman cleaning herself on a bidet? OMG! Talk about awkward!
Anyway, there are aspects to every one of the dwarves that I can relate to. I'm definitely Grouchy when I see how messy my son is. I've even been Snow White a time or two. Which dwarf have you been the most like recently?
Good Morning~
ReplyDeleteJ/L~ Hi Ho~ lol~ I'd say I'm a cross between Grumpy and Sleepy lately~ I'm just pooped~ Too much going on at work and home......constantly running around and at work I'm a grouch!~ ugh~ I need Calgon~
ReplyDeleteGood morning TINA!
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Happy & Sleepy!! I try to keep the Grumpy out!!
SLIN - p.s. I will think of this blog and lmao every time I have to go check the Men's room at work!!
ReplyDeleteummm....and MARY!!! You weren't suppose to send the snow back!! We're suppose to get hit tomorrow....grrr!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Ms. Beautiful Tina Cakes! :) I hope you are doing well this fine Monday.
ReplyDeleteJ/L: Hilarious! Especially the thought about the bidet..roflmao. Sounds too close to something I would do!! Love it.
If I was dwarf I would be Happy..but also, Bashful.would be my second one.
Good morning Jodi, sorry to hear that you have snow ..ew.
J/LIN: Not even a contest here..and I think everyone is going to agree..it's Dopey for me! I even trip like he does..lol..oh well, at least I'm consistent! ;)
ReplyDeleteTINA: Calgon coming right up! ;D
JODI: I'm sending some of this warm air to you via the tube..I can't seem to blow hard enough these days..let me know if it gets there! Oh..and you are totally successful at keeping the Grumpy out..ijs!! :)
BEBBI: Happy..perfect!! :)
It's going to be another 90+ degree day here today..summer has arrived..and no..I haven't turned on the a/c yet!! :D
Have a nice day everyone!
How beautiful the nest looks today! I love the new look! Very cheery!
ReplyDeleteTina, you are a sleepy, grumpy beauty today!
SLIN,I have done that more than I care to admit! With this snow I am definitely "Grumpy!" A few of you usually turn me into "Happy" and I thank you for that :)
Zona, you are not Dopey! I knight thee "Hot & Windy" lol. Now blow some of that hot air wayyyyy up North please
Jodi. We woke up to snow covered ground. BLECK!! I am sending that back to you too!
Bebbi, I am adding a new dwarf for you "Bubbly" :)
Happy Monday Owls.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, That is too funny, but I have to say that I would never want to be Snow White, living with 7 little men who probably never pick up their underwear. And the whole town knows why the guys sing "Hi, Ho" every time they come home. It's a greeting!
Anyway, I would identify with Grumpy sometimes, but this time of year, with everything blooming, I am definitely Sneezy.
Tina, You are the "Pretty" dwarf.
ReplyDeleteJodi, Exactly what do you 'check' in the men's bathroom?
Bebbi, I agree with Mary. You are the Bubbly dwarf.
Zona, I can't believe you haven't turned on the A/C yet.
Mary, The snow will be gone soon and you will be Happy all the time.
Carol, I was so happy to see your posts yesterday. Sorry to hear about the SSO's daughter. I will keep the family in prayer.
Waving to all the Owls. Have a good day everyone.
Kathy helped me set up a new account so that I can post again. I tried so many times with my old password I gave up. Now I will try this new password.
ReplyDeleteIt worked. Thank you Kathy.
ReplyDeleteHope every is having a great day. This has taken an hour so I am exhausted and ready for a nap. Will post later.
ReplyDeleteSee you later.
ReplyDeletehi Audrey~ SO nice to see you~ :D
ReplyDeleteTinka I love seeing your little owl again! Woo hoo! Big smiles. :D
ReplyDeleteTink!!! oh yes... So glad to see you back now!!! xo xo xo! I just love that pic you sent at Christmas with the card. I still have it on my bed stand..you look so happy!! :)
ReplyDeleteSnow White and the 8 dwarves....love it.. Bubbly is me! :)
ReplyDeleteTina You are looking so pretty and really fit and healthy. Must be all that exercise you are getting lately. At least you get to sit down while watching the lacross games.
ReplyDeleteHi, HO.....di I, too, want to know exactly what you are checking out in the men's room. LOL
ReplyDeleteBebbi I know...the thought about the bidet was soooo irrational, yet, there it was floating through my brain. In my defense, I will say that the drain had a slightly elevated cover over it so it didn't look like a drain at first glance.
ReplyDeleteZona How hot does it have to get before the a/c gets turned on? I think 90 would def do it for me.
ReplyDeleteMary Perfect dwarf name for Bebbi. :)
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I was thinking more along the lines of being kissed by the prince, not about picking up a bunch of underwear. LOL
ReplyDeleteTINKA: YAY..it worked!! I had my doubts there for a while..LOL! Sheesh what a process! I'm so happy to see your little brown owl!
ReplyDeleteMARY: I promise I'll be blowin' soon!! :D
BARB: You are NOT Grumpy..Silly sometimes..Funny yes, but not a grump! No a/c yet..I thought it had come on on it's own last night..it's set at 86..but I was mistaken..it was only 83 in the house..I guess I could be called Drippy.. ;D
J/LIN: I like to wait until May 1st if I can..that way the electric company only gets the big bucks for 5 mos!
BTW, I love the new layout!! So cute!! How do you set that up, I do not know how to get really cute backgrounds like that..it's just awesome.
ReplyDeleteBebbi~ I found a whole bunch of free backgrounds that I wanted to use for my blog and they had two Owl ones so I used one for mine and one for here~ Here's the link:
ReplyDeletehttp://leelou-freelayouts.blogspot.com/p/free-blog-templates-and-backgrounds.html
oh....and I use the templates....then if I want to change the color or font or placement of something.....I just mess with the code~ :D
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy bunch of owls today!
ReplyDeleteTinka, how wonderful to see you here again!
I just threw in a meatloaf and scalloped taters in the oven, so taking a break. Heading to FB.......
"Good Afternoon Friend Owl".
ReplyDeleteIsn't that famous quote from the movie "Bambi"? I love that movie even more than I love "Snow White". By the way "Snow White" is going back into the vault this weekend so buy it in Blu Ray before it's too late. I have asked the Easter Bunny for it.
Just Lin - I so identify with your story. I have done that not once but three times at restaurants. The first time my sister was humiliated and asked me, "Didn't you see the sign?" I honestly answered, "I thought she was wearing a pant suit". I walked in and it tooked me a minute to figure out where I was. As I was leaving a man (a not too happy looking man) passed me as I left. The second and third time I just got the door open when I realized what I had done. My family was beginning to think I was either enjoying or "Losing It". I look very closely now when I get to the doors. I didn't want to get the reputation of being the former school teacher turned pervert.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, when I was trying to set up a new account I definitely was Dopey. Kathy can verify that. It took so long. I was so tired by the end and so confused I found myself talking into the mouse pad as the phone lay on the floor. Yikes, I had better stop before someone sends a padded wagon for me. I am usually quite "with it" really I am.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why my old password wouldn't work. I tried it many times through the months. I actually tried to get a new password on the day you all left for Chicago because I wanted to wish you well. They wouldn't let me have a new password nor would they let me sign up again. I was very frustrated. Anyway all is well. I can now post thanks to my BFF.

ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon, Tina, Jodi,Bebbi, Zona, Mary, SacBarb, and of course the writer of today's blog Just Lin. Wishing you a Happy Day.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the "Welcome Back".
I must get to my farms or everything will have died.
Bebbi - That is so sweet of you to keep my picture by your bedside. I am touched.

ReplyDeleteTinka. LOL @ pantsuit!
ReplyDeleteWe had an earthquake about a half hour or so ago and the electricity has been out ever since.
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - The hap-hap-happiest one of all :)
ReplyDeleteZONA - Only 12 more days...I don't know how you do it!! There would be no sleep for me!
MARY - I'm so sorry. At least this time of year it doesn't stick around long. High of only 35 tomorrow...brrr!!!
BARB - I couldn't imagine you Grumpy!! Sneezy, maybe ;) We have a timer to check both restrooms every hour. For cleanliness!!!
TINKA!!! Welcome back!! So good to see your sweet little owl again ♥
SLIN - Trust me....nothing fun!! Although I must admit I've had a few near misses ;)
ReplyDeleteSLIN - I thought you had a few more weeks before you could "make the earth move" ;) Be safe my friend!!
ReplyDeletethats cute J/L...
ReplyDeleteI went to a hair show convention thing with Lisa and a couple others in 2003 at the convention center...we drove from Bryan so when we got in the bldg Lisa and Sandra really had to go so they ran in the first door that said restroom....
As I sat outside waitng for them I saw a few men go in and one come out..it occurred to me that they were in the mens room so I went in too....huge place...prolly 30 urinals facing one wall and as many stalls...I could hear Lisa and Sandra whispering and giggling and suddenly the doors to their stalls flew open and they sprinted for the exit....none of the guys seemed to mind.....
Anyway...we sat 3 rows back on the aisle for this show thing....this guy from Paul Mitchell Systems was the first speaker and as he talked he walked off the stage and down our aisle past us then turned and came to the row behind Lisa and Sandra...put his hands on their shoulders as he continued to speak...and finally put his head between theirs and said "we've got to stop meeting like this!!"
Yeah...he was in the restroom when they invaded...lol
I think people make that mistake sometimes...its no big deal...unless its a man who walks into a ladies room....that could result in an arrest...
I have so many funny memories of Lisas antics....I think the fact that she always surprised herself so... made them that much funnier....
Just-Lin - How big was your earthquake? Did you suffer any damage besides shattered nerves? The media keeps saying we are going to get the "BIG ONE". I try to get prepared but I it makes me nervous just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI was going to make Hot Cross buns today but somehow the day is almost over. How did that happen? Only 4 days until Good Friday.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary. It was your note that convinced me I had to make the effort to find out how to get back on the blog.
ReplyDeleteOh man.....Audrey.....I want a bite of ur hot buns~
ReplyDeleteI am Happy today, because my ex was in the paper again under "Police Beat". He just received his 2nd speeding ticket again within three months.
ReplyDeleteOver $300 in fines in the past three months and now he is afraid what his next ins. statemen will look like.
I'm so lovin it! It put a little smile on my face, because he is doing all that speeding in his brand new cadalliac that he cashed his 401K in for!
Mrs. Tinka, so glad to see you! :)
ReplyDeleteTina, I didn't know you had a blog too.
This cold weather has not been very much fun.
Hello to the rest of the owls and have a relaxing evening!
Oh, and Tina,I'm so in love with this layout.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and it is making cards! How cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteTina - I wish you were close enough so that all our owls could have one of my Hot Cross Buns. I am very proud of them. That was what you meant wasn't it? LOL
ReplyDeleteZona - Have you recovered from our intense hour of your guiding me through the maze of questions.? You are a fantastic teacher and I am afraid I wasn't the brightest student. I do think I use to be smarter. It wouldn't be getting over 40 would it Dianne?

ReplyDeleteI am leaving a nice brisk walk to 69. Who is up for it?
ReplyDeleteIteach - Sometimes a little revenge is sweet. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone--Tink it is so greatv to see u and have my 39 year old buddy back. How r u feeling?
ReplyDeleteOk hi again---on my phone so not the best posting. I'm watching DWTS and eating a cheese sandwich for dinner--boring!! Hope u r all doing well today. Will be back later with my dwarf Boring

J/L- I have been grumpy and dopey.
Tink! I'm up for it...

ReplyDelete68
ReplyDelete69!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn that felt good!
ReplyDeleteHi Dianne - I am feeling fine as long as I don't have to walk more than "puttering" around the house. I have seen a series of specialists and there is nothing they can do so I have to play the hand I was dealt. I now have a stair lift and I am getting a scooter at the beginning of the month. I thought I would wait until it was nice weather to go for evening walks with Jack and my doggies. I am so happy to have my computer as it is a great way to pass the time. I really miss walking the dogs and driving myself to lunch with my friends etc. I try not to dwell on it. There are plenty of people who are worse off.
ReplyDeleteGoldi I missed the march & where is that Jodiho?
ReplyDeleteTinka. I bet your buns are delish!! I swear I can almost smell them, and you haven't even baked them lol!
Hi Goldie - You snuck in while I was typing. It was 65 when I started. Boy you are fast. Glad it was good for you. I was wondering who it would be.
ReplyDeleteMary - I will let you know when I put them in the oven, probably Good Friday. You should be able to catch the aroma from here as long as the wind is right.
ReplyDelete75
ReplyDeleteShirley - I challenge you to march to 100 for old times sake.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am off to bed. Sweet dreams all owls everywhere. God bless.
ReplyDeleteNite Tinka, I think Shirley is still doing taxes or recuperating from them lol!
ReplyDeleteGood evening feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteTINKA...SOOOOOO nice to see you back in the nest. You have been missed! I'm sorry you are having such a hard time, but your attitude is so wonderful! Welcome home, Sweet Tinka!
Once, many years ago I took my mom out to lunch at Perkins. After we ate I had to make a major league poopie, so off to the loo I went. I was rushing and went into the bathroom and didn't even notice urinals. I sat down in a stall and had a nice relaxing rest (it is a restroom, ya know!)Finally, I returned to the table and my mom asked where I had been. She was worried and went to the ladies room to see if I was ok and I wasn't there. I went back and looked and sure enough, I had been sitting in the men's room!! Oops!
JUST LIN...how are you feeling?
SAC BARB...I can't imagine you ever being grumpy.
TINA...You are McSleepy!
DIANNE...is your mouth feeling better? Is the GD still with you?
It has been a LONG ASS day today. I went to work until 12:15 and then off to the funeral. When we proceeded to the buriel, the big boss came up to me and told me SHE forbids me from going back to work. I did protest, as I have piles of stuff on my desk. She told me that I need to go back to Joni's dad's house and be with them all for support to me (she was there with a few other managers that I am close with). I was really very touched by that and I was glad to be able to go there and pay my respects. Afterwards I went to Elaine's for Passover. I didn't end up home till ater 11.
Tomorrow night is back to Elaine's again. Then Wednesday night back to Joni's dad's.
Mo, I hope you have a peaceful sleep after your hard day. You so deserve it.
ReplyDeleteIn Judiasm, when someone passes away, we generally bury the person within 24 - 48 hours. There are exceptions, like we can't bury on the Sabbath (Saturday)or on holidays. We don't do open caskets and we don't have wakes. We also don't usually do cremations, but some are starting to do that.
ReplyDeleteThere is usually a service at the funeral home or Temple, then the pall bearers carry the casket to the hearse and we all follow in a processional to the burial. Some people only have graveside services, as we did with my mom. At the grave the pall bearers carry the casket and place it on straps over the grave and place their gloves on the casket and then we all watch as the casket is lowered. After some prayers, we assist the departed on their journey and put a shovel of dirt on the casket.
After the buriel, we do what is called sitting Shiva. That is when people return to the house and pay our respects, offer support and reminisce. There is usually a lot of laughter and food. Shiva can be for one night or up to 7. Since it is Passover, Shiva is suspended and will resume on Wednesday evening.
ITEACH...thank you. It was difficult and brought back many memories.
ReplyDeleteIt was really sad watching Joni's dad at the Temple, as he couldn't take his hand off the coffin.
MO I, too, wish you a very restful sleep after such a long and difficult day. Thank you so much for explaining the funeral customs and sitting Shiva. You are in my thoughts and prayers. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteiteach He cashed in his 401K for a car? Unbelievable! Selfish and childish. Does he plan to live off his car in his retirement?
ReplyDeleteTinka I bet you have the sweetest hot buns in town. ;)
ReplyDeleteJust read all the comments... welcome back, Audrey!!!!!
ReplyDeleteZona, you're a trooper! We've had the A/C on all weekend!
J/L: I think I was "Horney".
ReplyDeleteOh. Wait. There is no "Horney".

ReplyDeleteDEE DEE - Sometimes you just end up in the right place ;)
ReplyDeleteWHABBY - I would've guessed that for you!!
ReplyDeleteMO - Thank you for yet another insightful lesson!!
ReplyDeleteITEACH - Seriously?!!? I'm with SLIN....although (taking a line from one of my fav SNL skits)....he's gonna be living in that caddie....DOWN BY THE RIVER!!
