Sung by The Blind Boys of Alabama
Submitted by Just_Lin
Since this is a Sunday Music Video, I thought it would be nice to have a gospel. This is the Blind Boys of Alabama singing "Amazing Grace" to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun". The Blind Boys of Alabama are a gospel group that first formed in 1939 at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind.
kerplop-a-lop
ReplyDeleteI have heard them before and they are quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteMorning (way too early). Haven't heard of this group before---very good
ReplyDeleteMorning Month(Mo)-- how r u this bright sunny morning?
Think I will try and catch a few more z's so I won't sleep through bronco game
Hi DIANNE! How is your daughter doing? She is in my thoughts and prayers
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Dianne!
ReplyDeleteI hope Tammy is feeling better....
I saw these guys on 60 Minutes. They are great...and I love Amazing Grace sung to the tune of HOTRS....
ReplyDeleteThey have a really fantastic story to tell. They will be performing in Davis, Ca on Dec 15 at the Mondavi Center.
Thats really close to you SacBarb...right?
And I think the pepper spray danger has passed at UC Davis...
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: I couldn't imagine what 'Amazing Grace' would sound like sung to 'House of the Rising Sun'..but I really liked it! It had to be so difficult for them to take a song they know so well and sing it to a completely different melody. Great choice today!
MO: You look mahhhvellous! :)
DI: You better not fall asleep..you'll hurt Tebow's little feeling! :D
I hope Tammy is feeling much much better today. :)
MICHAEL: I'm resisting looking more closely at your avatar..
After 2 days of Christmas shopping..we're staying home today..thank goodness..my old beat up knee has to rest!
Have a good day all!
..oh and one more thing...
GO RAIDERS!! :D
Good Moan~
ReplyDeleteMo~ U look pertty at the top~
Di~ Glad Tammy is home~
Mikey~ Do you know what sacrilegious is?
Zona~ Almost done with my chopping~ Can't wait.....only 3 more to go~
J/L~ Loved the song today~ Thanks for sending it in~
MO I love seeing you at first today. You are just as pretty as you cn be. I think the Blind Boys are quite amazing, too.
ReplyDeleteDianne I've been sending prayers for Tammy and hope they have answers for her soon. Please keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Broncos have a good game today.
Michael When a person genuflects in front of the Pope, they only have to kiss his ring, right?
ReplyDeleteZona I first heard the Blind Boys sing this years ago. I think it would be difficult to sing a well known song to a totally different tune but I sure like the results. I like both songs a lot so I find the result very pleasing.
ReplyDeleteTina I'm trying to figure out what it is you are chopping as it sounds like a big job. A few possibilities came to mind:
ReplyDeleteChopping down Christmas trees so you'll have as many as Zona.
Giving all your family members haircuts.
Cutting your toenails.
Practicing your Karate moves.
Happy Sunday Owls.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, Very interesting video. I have heard this group before, but they didn't sing this song. Thanks for sending it to Tina.
Michael, Yes, Davis is very close to Sac. I have been to the Mondavi Center many times, however I will not be going to see this group on Dec. 15th, not because I am afraid of pepper spray, but I have other plans for that night.
Mo, you are beautiful kerplop-a-lop-ing in first today. So good to 'see' you here.
Di, I have also been keeping your daughter in my prayers.
Zona, You actually braved the crowds on this crazy weekend? No one could pay me enough to go near a store this weekend.
Tina, I think your Mesican accen ees showing.
SacBarb Oh, THAT'S what she meant by chopping Now I get it. LOL I'm with you, by the way, nobody could have paid me enough to go out in those crowds, either.
ReplyDeleteLast night I made HOdi's mother's vegetable beef soup and apple crisp. They were both great!
ReplyDeleteJ/L....very nice song today...very nice...
ReplyDeletemakes me want to do a dueling pianos thing and have AG on one piano and HOTRS on the other...
I can hear it...well..parts of it...it can be done...
This rendition by the BBOA is simply inspiring...I mean it...
Thats what I have been doing today....I put HOTRS on the stereo...got the tempo...listened through headphones and played AG and recorded the whole thing.
And it wasn't as bad as you might think...lol...it'll come to me...
SACBARB...hi! Nice to 'see' you, too! I have never gone shopping on Black Friday, after so many years of working them. But I had to take my cousin on some errands and we lucked out. We went to 4 different places and we got parking right in front of the store and all 4 times we walked right up to the cashier...no waiting!
ReplyDeleteBARB: We went out during the evening..there were a lot of cars in the parking lots..but no real 'crowds'..it was kinda chilly out..and it made for a nice evening..really..lol.. :D
ReplyDeleteTINA: Three? Me too! Well..actually..I've only bought 3 presents..lol..oh well.. ;D
J/LIN: No one can match us tree for tree...no one.. ;D
Did you watch Once Upon a Time? So good tonight!
RAIDERS and CARDINALS win today..YAY!! BRONCOS too! I don't like the Chargers..notice lower case..so I'm glad those horses won. ;D
"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi..you're my only hope.."
...Randy is watching Star Wars..I couldn't resist.. :D
HI MO!!! :D
ReplyDeleteZona, The only reason I was rooting for the Chargers is that it would put the Raiders two games ahead in the standings...well that may not be the ONLY reason...
ReplyDeleteBTW, congrats to the Broncos for winning in OT. That was a close game.
Mo, you really DID luck out with your shopping. My neighbor went in the early evening and she had to park 'a mile away' (her words) and waited in line 40 minutes to pay for her purchase. I don't think my legs or my patience would last that long.
SacBarb My back and my patience would not have made it.
ReplyDeleteMichael That sounds like an interesting experiment. Do you play the piano?
ReplyDeleteZona I don't even have one gift purchased and I'm not very enthused about doing it, either.
ReplyDeleteMO Now, that's the way I like to go shopping. You had luck on your side.
ReplyDeleteHubby and I always go shopping at about 2pm...no lines....no trouble parking....in and out....and out to dinner even~ It's like a date for us every year~ :D
