This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
but hey! When I was at that new HEB store the other day they had this huge bin of assorted nuts...and a big plastic scoop to scoop em into a bag. Well I didn't use the scoop but I hand picked walnuts and filled one of those produce bags...
I got them for the squirrels....they are so used to acorns everyday that I thought some big walnuts would really blow their skirts up...
I had put a teacup on the deck rail with water for them to drink...which they did regularly...so I dumped out the water and put a walnut in the cup and waited. Sure enough mr/mrs squirrel came to get a drink and saw the walnut.
He/she put both little paws on the rim of the teacup and just was buggie-eyed! The squirrel seemed to enjoy the walnut immensely so I have placed another teacup (matching) out there with water and am continuing to put a walnut every few hours in the original teacup.
Heres the kicker....when I had a walnut in my hand Belle was doing her best to get to it. She is very nosey. So I finally opened my hand and she took it! Took it...cracked it...and ate the stuff inside...the "meat" as it were.
One half the shell was still intact so I kept it so that when I have 3 I can play a shell game....but every time we go outside Belle wants that half walnut shell and has licked and picked until it is clean as a whistle....
I decided to look up dogs and walnuts on the internet and it says to NEVER give a walnut to a dog because it can cause seizures...vomiting...and death!! GASP!
I just called the vet...told him how much Belle loved that walnut...he said..."do not ever give her another walnut!!"
Damn!! And it was so cute...seeing her with that big nut shell in her mouth walking around...carrying it with her...
Michael Thanks for writing the blog. It was both fun and informative. To be honest, it kind of sounds like Vivian was the one that wasn't all that nice. As for Frawley, "male nurse" indeed. LOL
Michael2 I didn't know that about walnuts. I put out a cat dish full of unsalted peanuts in the shell for my squirrels. They love them and it is cute to watch them eat them.

Tina My, you are looking lovely today. Have you been watching Pan Am? One of the actresses reminds me of you....Colette, the french one.

Shirley What's wrong? You have a blank expression today.

Michael3 Thanks for the quote. It kind of doesn't make sense out of context, though. lq
Very interesting , Michael. I didn't realize she died at such a young age. Thanks for the information.
Just wanted to tell everyone hello today
Dianne: I didn't know VV died so young either. Great blog, Michael! And Happy Birthday!
That is, unless your and Dee Dee's birthdays don't coincide... which I have a feeling they don't...
