K.....so I didn't have time on Monday night to just "throw" something together for 9/11~ And SOMEONE, who shall be nameless......*cough*......*choke*......MICHAEL......*burp*.......*toot*.......was just a tad (A LOT) disappointed. So here are just a few things I found interesting~
From 2004-2012, Earthcam.com took images every 15 minutes to create a time-lapse video of the construction of One World Trade Center. The building is now over 1,250 feet surpassing the Empire State Building in height.

9/11 Museum To Atheists And The 9/11 Cross Lawsuit: Are You Kidding?
Last year, atheists sued the 9/11 Memorial and Museum over the establishment's decision to include the so-called "9/11 cross." Atheists had claimed it would violate the First Amendment, but now the museum is asking for a court to end the suit, because, "As a threshold matter, the 9/11 Museum is an independent non-profit corporation. Its curators’ decisions to display particular objects, such as the artifact, in the museum are not state actions to which Constitutional protections apply."
The cross is made of two beams found in the wreckage of the World Trade Center after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and American Atheists Inc. said last year, "The WTC cross has become a Christian icon. It has been blessed by so-called holy men and presented as a reminder that their god, who couldn't be bothered to stop the Muslim terrorists or prevent 3,000 people from being killed in his name, cared only enough to bestow upon us some rubble that resembles a cross. It's a truly ridiculous assertion. It will just be a Christian icon, in the middle of OUR museum. This will not happen without a fight."
The Post has the details on the 9/11 Memorial and Museum's court filing:
According to the museum, the cross is an “important and essential artifact” that “comprises a key component of the retelling of the story of 9/11, in particular the role of faith in the events of the day and, particularly, during the recovery efforts.”
“After its discovery, the artifact was venerated by certain workers during the course of the rescue and recovery operation at Ground Zero, including in religious services conducted by a priest,” the court papers say.
“Many of them came to regard the artifact as a source of comfort and spiritual symbolism during their time at Ground Zero, and they treated it as such.”
The museum also blasts the atheists for suggesting that a “17-foot-high A for Atheists” or an American Atheists lapel button also be included in its exhibition. The court filing also quoted the museum's director Alice Greenwald who said, "The 9/11 Museum is ‘not in the business of providing equal time for faiths, we are in the business of telling the story of 9/11 and the victims of 9/11."
FWIW, Jon Stewart said the atheists were cray-cray while Mayor Bloomberg felt the lawsuit was fine.

Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup
I had dinner out alone with the youngest kid. We talked about 9/11. He told me about this video he was planning on watching. He was watching a similar video in school. I had planned to just post pictures here, but instead, I'm posting this video. It's an hour and a half long. You don't have to watch it. It's one of those conspiracy theory videos. I thought it was SOOOOOO interesting. It's the same stuff that Michael has been telling me since the beginning of time.....okay....for the last 5 years anyway. If you have Netflix, you can watch this without Ads. Hulu has Ads~
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteTINA: I won't ever forget where I was or how I felt when I saw those planes crash into the World Trade Center..I was watching TV with my mom when it happened..so we actually saw the first plane hit. More than anything I think it was the first time I felt like maybe we weren't safe..ya know? The other thing I remember is the quiet for days afterward..no air traffic except the occasional fly over of jets from the Air Force base nearby..it was really eerie. I still get such a sense of sadness when I watch footage of anything to do with that day.
The first video was cool..I think I watched the second video a while back..I'll have to watch it again to refresh my memory..as usual.
I don't understand the lawsuit..I think it's silly..but you can always find someone to sue about something..can't you?
I better get moving..Randy is going to run out the door without a goodbye..and that won't do at all!! Have a good day everyone! :)
Zona Well, good morning. You are radiant today in first. Where is everyone else? Is everyone sleeping in today? I thought I was the only one doing that now that Dianne has become such an early bird.
ReplyDeleteTina Thank you for the blog today. I enjoyed watching the new tower's progress. That was cool. One of the things my daughter did last year when we had a day in New York, was to go look at Ground Zero. Very sobering. Now we have a new crisis and more lives to mourn. Will it never end?
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone..... I'm here.
ReplyDeleteJL: I'm not kidding, I've been sleeping off and on all day. Wake up four hours later and take a Percocet and back to sleep. Maybe I'll lose 42 pounds like he has this summer taking drugs.
Beautiful at first, Zona. I think we will all never forget that awful day. Did you give Randy a big smooch good bye? Aww, how cute you guys are....
Tina, thanks for the blog. The second video won't play but thanks for the interesting info.
What's everyone doing today? Is it a holiday?
Hi Michael. Hope today's a good day for you.
Good Evening~
ReplyDeleteyikes....in my head....that sounded like Vincent Price~
ReplyDeleteScary that on September 11th you have other things happening around the world~ We had dinner with a priest friend over the weekend and he was saying that all the signs are there for the end days.....which....at the time wasn't so bad....cuz we were talking about my atheist son and what to do about him~ ugh~
ReplyDeleteMichael's internet is poopy....comes and goes as it pleases...mostly goes....today is his great-nieces birthday....she's 5 yrs old today...i remember when he posted on Ross' blog with the hospital link when she was born~ She drew him a picture and she put it on his wall in his room~ Of course....he gave her shit....typical~ The poor thing (her...not him!)
Tina Well, let's hope it isn't the end of days. I'm not done yet.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Michael doesns't have reliable internet. Is he in the sticks or what?
he's in texarkana....is that the sticks? he's on the texass side...it's really stormy looking today...his sister posted a pic from her office window today and it's all dark and cloudy and rainy~
ReplyDeleteTina: I'm surprised a child of yours turned out an atheist. That's not good. I though they would turn our priests and a nun.
ReplyDeleteMichael needs to move and get a decent Internet connection.
Are they still forcing fish on him?
ReplyDeleteMichael says the atheist thing is a phase he'll grow out of.....sigh~
ReplyDeleteMichael is supposed to move....hopefully soon....and no fish....he's hardly eating....NOTHING agrees with him~
Tina I'm really sorry to hear that. Why does he keep moving? Is he pissing everybody off? jk
ReplyDeleteHe only moved to Texarkana to be by his sisters....now he wants to move to another nursing home cuz he doesn't like the one he's in now~ He's on the phone now....and he sounds good tonight....he's taking breathing treatments now....so that helps~
ReplyDeleteI remember exactly where I was that fateful morning. I was still waking up early, because I wasn't used to being retired yet, so I turned on the TV at about 6am and the image of a burning building was on the screen. Then the second plane hit and my phone rang. It was my youngest calling from San Diego. I just flew home from San Diego the day before. Then the call waiting rang in and it was Chad calling from Seattle. AS soon as we hung up, the oldest son called. They all wanted to touch base with Mom and 'home' even though none of them lived with me anymore.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling he's not going to like any of the homes, really. I hope he's found something else that will be within range of his family. He really needs that at this point.
ReplyDeleteI should have specified that the above was meant for Tina. I guess you figured that out.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb Boys always want to touch base with Mama. That's sweet, really.
ReplyDeleteZona, You look lovely in first today. I also remember how quiet it was outside. Not only were there no planes, but there was also no traffic. A lot of places closed, and a lot of people just didn't go to work.
ReplyDeleteJ/L & Lynn, You have FB mail.
Dianne, I know you are anxious about having surgery. I had to have scar tissue broken when I had my first knee replaced. My doc put me to sleep to do it. I have some suggestions for your recovery. Call me if you're interested.
Tina, One of my kids decided he was an atheist too and while he still doesn't go to church, I truly believe he isn't an atheist. I agree with Michael, it's probably just a phase.
thx Sackie~ that's nice to hear~
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb. I will call. I had my other knee replaced six years ago. It wasn't pleasant.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I know. I answered you.
