This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Tina...I love the song and I love Andy Williams. There are so many songs this time of year from singers that are no longer with us. I was so lucky to see Andy Williams show twice in Branson. Thanks so much for posting.
Good Morning Dianne - I was excited to see the picture of Andy Williams. I love that song and him. My favourite memories include watching his Christmas show each year. Unfortunately this video is not available in Canada. I will try U-tube.
Glad to hear of your good report on your knee.
Have a great day everyone. It sure is the busiest time of the year, isn't it?
TINA: LOVE this song..I think it just might be my favorite Christmas song..this and 'We Wish You The Merriest' by Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra..both songs really put me in a holiday mood!
DI: You look so radiant in first today! I'm glad you found those gift cards..and as soon as you stop caring about the pillow cases..they'll turn up too..that's the way the world works sometimes! ;)
TINKA: It sure is a busy time of year..this last minute stuff is wearing me out!
We were out all day yesterday..it was a mad house out there too..crazy..but we are almost done. :)
My 'maybe' bronchitis turned out to be just asthma..yay!..so the cookie making fest went on as planned Friday. We made cookies all dang day! Nine different kinds..3-4 dozen each. I don't know what we were thinking! There are a lot of cookies going out to the neighbors today!
We made..white chocolate chip..chocolate brownie..cranberry pecan..hazelnut chocolate chip..Russian tea biscuits..m & m macaroons..crispy graham cookies..and I can't remember the other two..lol..but there were A LOT!!
Then..when my sister was leaving..at 10pm..Rand and I were waving to her and my ring flew off my hand into the front yard. It took us a good 20m to find it. I guess by the time I'm done eating all those cookies..it'll fit nice and snug again. ;)
Take care everyone..if you venture out today..please be careful.. :)
Dianne You found the gift cards? Yay! Are those the gifts you were looking for or was that something else? Congrats on being the prettiest in the nest today.
Tina Well, that was retro. I enjoyed it and it reminded me of being young and living in my parent's house. Andy sure had a smooth voice. His theme song, Moonriver, sure was a good one to slow dance to. The ad for Green Stamps sure dates it.
Zona My, that's a lot of cookies! I don't know how you do it. I would not have the endurance to bake that much in one day. It's a very nice tradition you have with your sister, though. Good thing you found your ring. Really good thing you didn't lose it in some cookie batter and not realize it until all the baking was done. That would be a lot of cookies to destroy looking for it. Yikes! Sounds like a nightmare.
It's really been storming this morning and is raining hard right now. Sometime today, I have to go out and go grocery shopping for meals on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It would help if I knew what I wanted to have with this Honeybaked ham. Also, when I was wrapping last night, I was trying to get a price sticker off of a gift when a chunk of my gel nail broke and went flying off. It would be nice if I could get that fixed today. At least I got all my wrapping done last night.
Hi everyone! Tina, I love Andy! Were you even born when he was around?
Zona, you sure have been Suzie home maker!Where are they all going??
Tinka I remember watching Andy's shows.I loved when his whole family gathered around. Do you remember when he sang and ice skated? He did pretty darned well!
Justlin, we have been so lucky this year. No precipitation to speak of. Shopping has actually been fun. I always hated driving to the big city in bad weather and running in and out of my car!
I guess you have all seen on my FB wall that my great Nephew passed away this morning. His mom was notified about his failing condition and they tried to get to Kansas from Texas as soon as they could, but he passed before as they got there. They were allowed to spend a few hrs with him before they made the trip back to Texas. His body will be taken back to Texas after Christmas. He was only 23. He was diagnosed as a child with a weak imune system. He spent many months/yrs flying back and forth to Bethesda Maryland for treatments to keep him alive. They never thought he would live past the age of 5 or 6. A few weeks ago he had emergency surgery on his stomach. He knew any surgery was dangerous.Sadly infection set in and there was nothing the antibiotics could do to save him. I hope I didn't bring you all down. I just had to vent a bit to my buds. I intend on celebrating the fact that he was with us much longer than the Drs said he would.
Andy Williams was one of my faves and I talked my Hubby into going to see him in Tahoe sometime in the 60's. He put on a great show. I loved his TV Christmas show too. Thanks Tina.
Mary, I haven't been on FB today so I didn't know about your nephew. I am so sorry, but it will be good for your family to celebrate his life and the gift that he was with you so much longer than expected.
J/L, storming here too. I have everything for the two days except lettuce. I shopped on Thursday and I didn't get the lettuce for the salad because I wanted it to be really fresh. All the expiration dates were Dec. 25 and in my experience, lettuce never lasts to the expiration date. So I am going to have to go out tomorrow. We can't have our traditional spaghetti with clam sauce without salad. I hope the rain lets up.
Zona, yum...I want some of those cookies!!! I wish I was your neighbor. I think my daughter and granddaughters made us some cookies.
Well, the Broncos won again today. We only have to win next week and we will be good and its a home game. JL...your team is having a hard time tonight. I was cheering for you. We had perfect weather for a game today. The weather people are predicting snow tomorrow night and Christmas Day giving us a white Christmas. I really don't want one as we have to drive to my sons tomorrow night and my daughters on Christmas. I like a sunny Christmas!!!
Barb, yum your dinner sounds delicious. Maybe you could send that too. I'll be eating Zona's cookies and your spaghetti....I'll be in heaven.
JL...I'm still looking for two more gifts but the gift cards were the big ones.
We went to a Christmas/Bronco party at my uncles today. It was nice to get out and I even did some stairs!!
MARY – Love these….especially the one about asking a woman!! Ha!!
LYNN - So hard when all this is right after the holidays. Hang in there Spoonin’ Ho!!
We had our Jacobson Christmas on Saturday night. Loved being with family!! But can I just say that my brother broke my heart. Didn’t acknowledge me when I got there, and when I tried to start a conversation he looked at me like I was talking a foreign language. He made me cry. I have left a couple of voicemails for him in the last 2 weeks. The last one included a message from our Uncle Fred (my Dad’s brother). Not one word about that, and no call back. I literally looked up at the sky when I was leaving and said….”Janet I’m trying”!!!
DIANNE - I have no idea. I really just need to ask him point blank what his problem is, but I wasn't going to do that Saturday night. This is part of the reason I so appreciate all of you!!! My family has gotten so much smaller, but I am fortunate to have an awesome extended family!!
TINKA - Busy to say the least...especially with the blizzard we had last week. Set me back a couple of days. Oh, well....good thing I work well under pressure!
SLIN - Got my wrapping done last night. Just waiting for the grocery store to open this morning. Have to get makings for the requisite green been casserole! Which will go lovely with our traditional lutefisk dinner ;) I also am going to get a Kwik Trip gift card for our mail lady. She certainly deserves it....had to trudge thru the snow to our door a couple times in the last 3 days with packages that I had ordered.
Christmas Eve day, and Jodi, I can relate to your shrinking family syndrome. My Mom is in hospital right now, and will be for the foreseeable future (fractured pelvis), and of course with Dad gone in June, Christmas is kind of a shadow of its former self.
Reading the posts from earlier and it seems many of us going through tough emotional times right now. (((Hugs))) to everyone.
Zona I want a sampler plate sent my way. :)
Doyle and I going out early to get the rest of the fixings for dinner tonight and tomorrow. Things are very up in the air and I don't know if I will be home or if I will end up at Dad's tomorrow. He does have my brother at the house right now. I figured they needed to help each other.
