This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Hello and hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day.
Welcome home JL. How exciting your cruise is around the corner. Remind me again of exactly where you're going. Glad you had a nice week away. Missed you on the blog.
Jodi, do you work again today? Any plans for the day?
Tina, good song. Thanks for posting.
We went to pikes peak yesterday and too a three and a half hour ride on the cog railway to the top and back. I got a little breathless at 14,000 feet plus still coughing but it was a nice day trip. We t to eat on the way home.
Today taking my famous KFC cooking over to my brothers and SIL. She's doing pretty good since her surgery.
Barb, I'm waving back to you. We just got word that Pippin is coming to Denver. We are hoping it will be in our package this year.
Our air conditioner is not working ...of corse on a long weekend. I will be calling first thing tomorrow. Getting tired of being in the buff in front of fans. J/k
Dianne Going to London for 4 days then taking 2 week cruise that stops in scandinavian countries and Russia. Hardest part for me will be the 10 hr flight. I've never been on a flight so long and I expect my back will be bothering me at about the 5 hr mark.
DIANNE - Yes, I did work. Then I watched Les Mis with Jake before going to my SIL's mom's wake. Just got back from Wal-Mart. Jake needed new black pants for wagon train and some parades that are coming up.
Ummm JL, maybe you should get a little one to carry in your purse. Louis has his big one and I have a little purse size pink Nikon or cannon point and shoot. All these trips and no pictures. Btw, I sent all of you by email Louis pictures from Alaska. Click on to enlarge (much prettier) and then arrow through them. Hope it won't be too boring. I might even figure out how to post mine like of the room, margaritas ...you know fun stuff
Sitting at the car wash waiting for my car to get speed detailed. Then heading to the funeral. Shari has been there for me thru every tragic event in my life the last 25 years. Stopped at her condo this morning to give her a hug and deliver a large coffee. She seems to b doing ok.
Also sending hugs to you Jodi. You are really a good person and friend.
Glad you both liked the pictures. Will let you know when I post my few that I took with waiters, etc. one guys name was Dian in the dining room...we bonded.
I think my busy days are finally slowing down... wait maybe not lol My Granddaughter is having her open house from our side this week end and she graduates next Thursday. Fri I am meeting my Niece Raquel to lunch. We are meeting in Grand Rapids half way travel wise from where she lives. Oh ya I have a hair appointment Sat. morning. Tomorrow looks like my 2nd day of rest for a while.
Jodi. Hugs to you and your friend. It is good that you are there for each other.
Justlin, have a blast!! I love that so many owls are on the go and exploring wonderful places!
Dianne, I am getting a cute visual of you..." buff in front of fans".
Ok I must have forgotten to send them, Mary. I thought I'd sent them to all of you so here they come. Sounds like you're going to be busy. Indontblike two days of rest in a row.
I went to ww today after not being there for two weeks, on a cruise and on prednisone for a week and lost 7.8 pounds. I have no idea how this happened but I won't question it.
JL, yes, those were banana margaritas I was drinking I didn't realize Louis was taking a picture when I was licking the dang glass!!!
Dianne, Here I am. I have been out and about most of the day and I watched the Oklahoma benefit. Now I'm catching up on here and FB.
Tomorrow Sharon and I are going to see Les Mis. Our new schedule is out and our next season includes:Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Buddy, Flashdance, Blue Man Group, Sister Act, and Wicked. If our Australia plans work out we will miss Priscilla.
Our Summer series (the one I usher for) includes: Chicago, Wizard of Oz, Showboat, Sugar, and King and I.
MARY - What a busy lady!! I have to get my nails done and a haircut before I take off for Ohio on the 7th. Thinking I'm going to get my nails done after work today and maybe my hair on Saturday. Sam and I are heading down to LOIS' on Saturday when Sam gets done with work. Sneaking in a quick visit before baseball games start next week.
HOdi Merrrrrnin'! Oh, wait...you're probably having lunch now.
I've been running lots of errands to get ready for London and the cruise. Med refills ordered, notifying credit card company of travel plans, purchased Pounds and Euros. I've got a hair appointment set for the day before I leave and will getr nails done shortly before that.
On a sad note, my son is moving to AZ with his girlfriend and I have decided to give my (his) dog back to him. This is a difficult decision for me and I cried the whole time I was making it. I really love that dog and he would let me keep her but I don't think it's really fair to her since she has a lot more company and activity living with him, plus I want to be able to take off when I want to without worrying about pet care and worrying that the dog is being treated well in my absence. The times they are a changin'.
Well, didn't get my nails done today. Maybe tomorrow after work. We had threatening storms passing thru and I didn't want to get caught in Madison during a tornado watch!!
Jodi, Les Mis was good, but it's not my favorite show. I find it depressing, but I do like the music. I don't enjoy shows where they sing every line as much as I like shows where there is a mix of dialog and singing. I find it easier to understand spoken words. But the voices and the acting were both excellent.
J/L, Sorry you are giving up Ursula, but the reasons you stated are exactly why I don't have a dog. When I quit being such a gad about, I will definitely get a puppy for company. We had our cocker spaniel for 16 years and he was my buddy.
Hi everyone...you are probably all asleep except JL.
I worked (sort of) today at Tammy's and then went to Dinner with a friend. It was a nice time and early night.
JL, I too think you made the right decision about the dog. You do travel and its hard with a pet. Does your son and girlfriend have jobs in Arizona? Now you will get to visit Zona more often.
Barb, we are having Sister Act here too. Sounds like you have a good theater schedule coming up.
Jodi, have fun at Lois's this weekend and drive careful down there. I imagine baseball is going to keep you very busy this summer. How long will you be in Ohio? Is it a long drive from your place? Seems like it would be.
JL, Im excited for you to go on your cruise. I wish I could go with you. You will have to write notes to tell us all about it. When do you get home?
I booked another Alaska cruise yesterday. It's a different part and we get to go for 11 days this time. Hopefully I'm not repeating myself here because I'm really excited. Hmm, how many days until May 12?
DIANNE - It's about a 6-7 hour drive to my cousin's house in Ohio. We are swinging down to pick my Uncle Kenny up first in Illinois. He is so excited for the trip. He works on a farm 24/7, so 3 days off will be like heaven for him. I'm not sure when he last saw our cousins down there. Probably been at least 30 years. I hear my Auntie Joyce is already working on the jello shots....ha!!!
Hwlloooooo!! Jodi, I wish I could get a pedi :( Zoie and I got into some poison ivy or oak. Hers was on her whole under bottom and mine was on my feet! I was wearing sandals.Zoie has been on antibiotics and steroids. She was itching so bad, she was tearing her skin up and she would go 12-16 hrs without peeing cuz her wee wee was hurting too! She is just too close to the ground! She is so much better now,'cept the drugs make her pee all the time so in & out we go, all day and night, plus they make her hungry all the time so I have to be careful not to over feed her.
Dianne you are getting to be quite a traveler! i love it! The pics were great!
I thought I'd have a lazy day today, but I woke up early and started cleaning out the linen closet. So now I have a mess and I am taking a break. I have a boat load of sheets and I've decided to get rid of some, plus some tablecloths. I don't need a dozen. I used to have big dinners with family and friends and now it's just me and I hardly ever even eat at the table. So I will keep a couple for holidays and get rid of the rest. I hope you are all having a good day.
Diane, Loved the pics of your cruise. I am really leery about taking a cruise after hearing about all the problems on cruises recently, but if I was to take one, it would be to Alaska.
Mary, So sorry to hear about your and Zoie's poison ivy/oak. We have a lot of poison oak around the river very near to me. LOL at Zoie being too close to the ground. I hope you both get rid of it soon.
My neighbor is having his cement patio taken out with one of those rat-a-tat-tat things and it is making an awful racket. But, he called about 11am and suggested we have a glass of wine, so he came over with a big bottle and his glass. It didn't stifle the noise, but it made it more bearable. I fixed us a chicken salad so it would absorb the wine better.
SacBarb Maybe your neighbor has a little crush on you. :)
It's okay without Ursula. I am getting used to it but when I think of actually seeing her for the last time and saying goodbye, it makes me get all teary. I talk to my son again today and this is a good move for him so I am hoping for the best. If things don't go well at some point, I will go get the dog, one way or the other. Are you up for another road trip? LOL
I'm up early (for me). It's cool and overcast now. My throat hurts. Yesterday, I ventured into the room the my son had been staying in when he was here and tentatively started cleaning it. OMG! I found enough clothes under the bed to clothe two people all summer and enough change on the floor to feed them, as well. I took the two throw rugs outside and shook them out over the side of the deck. The longer I shook, the more fine dirt kept coming out of them. Of course, it all wafted up into my face! I should have worn a mask. No one ever accused my son of being neat.
Good evening hooters. How are you all doing tonight? I went to a friends BBQ today with my daughter. We go every year and Louis bows out. We babysit the boys last night and Louis took them to a movie and then I met them for dinner and babysitting. They were good little boys.
Not much new going on around here. Anything new with any of you? JL, I hope your throat is better. You should have made your son clean before he moved out. Next time.....
It's pretty warm here in the 80's. just warm enough for me.
Jodi, hope u r home safe now and had a fun weekend.
Jl.that doesn't sound good. You'd best rest and take it easy. I'm still dealing with my cough but not as bad as last week. I think I'll live.
I did have a Jell-O shot today at the BBQ. Now I don't like jello at all but this red little cup was the best jello I've had in years. It was red but not in a red solo cup!!!!
Another fun night with LOIS!! We went to a graduation party for Savana's friend Trenton. He's a great kid and I was happy to see him! She and I then chased down the sunset. The sky was crazy pretty!! She then had a photo assignment for a local business, so I tagged along. We ended up the night on her porch drinking beer...imagine that ;)
Justlin eeeeewwww lol!! I will find a spittoon and bring it to the Manor!
Jodi, so glad you spent time with Lois. She sure is fun to be around (like you). My son & I just spent over 2 hrs at the Verizon store! We are trying to set up our house with wireless. I felt sorry for the guy who was helping us. First the store lost it's internet service! (I know), then he was put on hold, transferred, dropped and when he finally got through the person didn't know what he was talking about! This went on for a long time. His face was beet red from frustration! It's a fairly new device that goes outside our house. You would think they would have better info for their store managers!
Jim is in the basement cursing the water heater lol! He broke a tool trying to get the filter out so he could replace the nasty one.
I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but a couple of weeks ago I suddenly lost all my hearing in my left ear. Very scarey! I have seen my family Dr. He couldn't see anything as far as wax build up. Wed. I see my specialist. Keep good thoughts and prayers for me that my hearing loss is only temporarily!
MARY - Oh boy, it's always something!! Unfortunate that they didn't get better training about the new wifi system. I hate it when I hear curse words from the basement. Never good!! I hope the specialist is able to help you with your problem with your left ear. How scary!!
Meeting GOLDIE, my Aunt Jane and her daughter Jenny for supper tonight. Can't wait to see them all ♥
Of course, on a day that I have plans, my youngest texted me that he needs new cowboy boots for wagon train next week. "cuz Grandpa says so"....wtf!!!! I think Grandpa should pay for said boots!!! And tomorrow is Paul's b'day. When I asked him what he wanted, he said nothing. I'm so tempted to do just that!!! But thankfully Tim doesn't work this afternoon, so I'm sending him out with Jake to get the boots and a gift!! I love having kids old enough to help me out!!
Jodi, yup...tell Paul here's plenty of nothing since that's what he requested. You are a busy gal. I think grandpa should be buying those boots too. Have fun at dinner and tell Heidi hello for me. What exactly is wagon train?
Mary, hope all turns out okay with your ear. I'm sure Wednesday can't come soon enough for you. Did things work out in the basement?
JL, hope that cough gets better. Mine is much better but still there. I'm not a spitter though. It would make me throw up.
Today I took my friend to lunch as she is the friend that took us to the airport at 5:45 am for our cruise. It was the least I could do. We did Mexican today. I want tomgomby Walmart but I was getting so sleepy I decided to come home for a brief nap and then I'll go there and to the cleaners. Louis has a deli sandwich for dinner.
That's my day. Wish we could all meet for happy hour tonight and visit.
Wouldn't that be fun if we could all get together over drinks and talk about our day? And what will you be having for dinner? Are you not eating because of your Mexican lunch?
I wish we lived close enough to at least once a month like I do with my old co workers. I miss you all! A group grope would be good too lol!
Jim gave up on the basement project for now. Tomorrow is his Casino day and nothing is going to interfere with that lol!!
Yes, I am nervouse about my ear. I went outside, closed my good ear ...and heard nothing! Not a bird tweeting or even the wind blowing coming through! My right ear seems to be compensating for it because I can hear most everything unless some one talks too low, or like my Gr Daughter's open house, too much background noise.
Just got back from a boring VFW meeting. The pres and the Treas. are Mother & daughter. Both are control freaks. Hard to tell who is Pres sometimes lol! I am so glad I gave up the Treas position. I don't miss it at all!
Mary Yes, a group grope would be great. I promise not to spread germs. I'm feeling better. I think I just really annoyed my lungs and activated my asthma.
Justlin, so sorry about your crappy funky junk lol! I do nasal spray every morning for my allergies. Some days it doesn't seem to do a thing for me! I refuse to keep it from going on walks. My dogster also gets a runny nose and sneezes lol!!Oye Vey!!
I still don't know what the wagon train is....Jodi?
JL, yes no dinner for me since I had a big lunch. I try to that most days that I have lunch out. It's always late lunch somimwont good for dinner. You'd think I'd lose some dang weight!!!!
Mary, Louis is having some hearing issues too he also goes on Wednesday. He said back ground noise is the worse.
Well, guess I will watch Leno for awhile. Repeats are finally over on his show
Dianne It doesn't work to just eat one big meal. Your body thinks you can't scavage for food very often so it stores the fat for energy. It really is better to eat small meals all through the day then your body thinks food is plentiful. I know.....easier said than done.
Mary, That is really scary about your hearing. I pray it is only temporary.
Dianne, You have some nice friends. I don't think any of my friends would get up that early to take me to the airport. That's why I always take the shuttle.
Jodi, I have been in this house since July 4, 1968, probably before you were born. I'm sure there is stuff in some closets that I haven't seen since then! ;)
J/L, I hope your cough is better. Are you still doing the Sensa?
I caved and paid for the boots "for now". Tim owes Jake $50 and Jake earned $40 last weekend working a wedding with Grandpa. So I will get the rest of the money when Tim gets his first paycheck.
I best get in the shower. I got to "sleep in" til 4:30 today. My manager asked me to come in later because truck will be an hour late today. Kinda enjoyed not getting up at the "pre-butt-crack of dawn" today.
The ride will begin gathering on Saturday June 9th at Horseman's Park in New Prospect, WI. The wagon train will be traveling from Monday June 10th to Friday June 14th and covering approximately 75 miles total. We will arrive at our destination, the Rock K Ranch in Greenleaf, WI on Friday June 14th.
All interested parties are welcome to attend but as a reunion of the "Military Road Sesquicentennial Wagon Train" and as a wagon train of the "History on the Move" organization, we would like to stay in the reenactment theme. Wooden wheeled authentic wagons and western historical attire are required for all participants. The wagon train will travel over quiet country roads and trails where there is access, but busy roads and town travel are inevitable.
TINA - Love this song and the message!! Made me tear up a little. Have a great Sunday!!
ReplyDeleteWell I made it thru my shift. Crazy me for getting up at midnight. I see a nap in my near future ;)
ReplyDeleteJust got up from my nap. Slept like the dead for 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteGreat song and video. Kudos to Maroon 5 for this message. Thanks Tina.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi. Glad you got your nap.
Waving to the rest of the Hooters.
Hi BARB!!
ReplyDeleteHi, HOoters!
ReplyDeleteTina Great song and great message. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for posting it.
I hope everyone is doing well. I enjoyed my time away visiting with friends and loved ones. It will feel good to be in my own bed tonight, though.

J/L, If you don't want to get a camera, can't you take pics with your phone? Or do you just get copies from your daughter?
Jodi, so sorry you have to go to a funeral today. My condolences to the family.
Thanks SLIN, DIANNE, and BARB. The service was beautiful.

ReplyDeleteSLIN - So I've heard ;) Ha!!!

ReplyDeleteDianne Were you up really, really late or up really, really early? Or both?
HOdi Your plants are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I still don't feel 100% okay about my decision regarding the dog. She is the best dog ever and she was great company.

Hello Hooters.

ReplyDeleteMary, So sorry to hear about your and Zoie's poison ivy/oak. We have a lot of poison oak around the river very near to me. LOL at Zoie being too close to the ground. I hope you both get rid of it soon.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb You would LOVE the Alaska cruise. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMary Sorry abourt you and Zoie's afflictions. At least you didn't get it where she got it. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteDianne I love it that you already booked your next cruise. Fun! What city does it come in and out of?
ReplyDeleteBarb, I didn't say "HI!"
ReplyDeleteHeading to bed. I can't miss my "root job" tomorrow!
Miss yah all!! Niters!!!
Hello Hooters.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor is having his cement patio taken out with one of those rat-a-tat-tat things and it is making an awful racket. But, he called about 11am and suggested we have a glass of wine, so he came over with a big bottle and his glass. It didn't stifle the noise, but it made it more bearable. I fixed us a chicken salad so it would absorb the wine better.
I hope you all are having a good day.
SacBarb That was very neighborly of both of you.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, Well, he is really a good neighbor and helps me out quite a bit, plus I didn't want to drink on an empty stomach.
ReplyDeleteSo, how has it been without Ursula?
SacBarb Maybe your neighbor has a little crush on you. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's okay without Ursula. LOL
J/L, My neighbor is gay and has been with his partner for 15 years or so. His partner is Vietnamese and he is very nice too.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be up for a road trip. You probably said, but where in AZ is he?
SacBarb He's moving in two weeks to Avendale, a suburb of Phoenix, as I understand it.
ReplyDeleteGOOD MORNING, HOOTERS!
ReplyDeleteI'm up early (for me).
ReplyDeleteGood evening hooters. How are you all doing tonight? I went to a friends BBQ today with my daughter. We go every year and Louis bows out. We babysit the boys last night and Louis took them to a movie and then I met them for dinner and babysitting. They were good little boys.
ReplyDeleteNot much new going on around here. Anything new with any of you? JL, I hope your throat is better. You should have made your son clean before he moved out. Next time.....
It's pretty warm here in the 80's. just warm enough for me.
Jodi, hope u r home safe now and had a fun weekend.
Dianne Sounds like you had a busy day. I've had a sore throat, a temp of 100.2, and felt crappy all day. Didn't do much besides lie on the couch.
ReplyDeleteJl.that doesn't sound good. You'd best rest and take it easy. I'm still dealing with my cough but not as bad as last week. I think I'll live.
ReplyDeleteI did have a Jell-O shot today at the BBQ. Now I don't like jello at all but this red little cup was the best jello I've had in years. It was red but not in a red solo cup!!!!
Good morning HOoters!! Just a quick fly by before I get ready for work ♥
ReplyDelete75!!!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Nice marching (50)...made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Thank you!! I just do a few pots. I do NOT like to weed!!
MARY - Be happy it's just your toes/feet...you're awfully close to the ground, too ;) Awwww....poor ZOIE!!
BARB - Sounds like you had a productive few days. We've been in our house 21 years now....I wish it was just one closet I have to clean out. OY!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother fun night with LOIS!! We went to a graduation party for Savana's friend Trenton. He's a great kid and I was happy to see him! She and I then chased down the sunset. The sky was crazy pretty!! She then had a photo assignment for a local business, so I tagged along. We ended up the night on her porch drinking beer...imagine that ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun, Jodi you always have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just awake foe a fly by too now back to sleep. Night
Good morning, HOoters!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope all are well today. I'm feeling better but have a "juicy" and frequent cough. Is there a spitoon in here? LOL Kidding.
Justlin eeeeewwww lol!! I will find a spittoon and bring it to the Manor!
ReplyDeleteJodi, so glad you spent time with Lois.
DIANNE - I'm confident you were able to get back to sleep!!
ReplyDeleteSLIN - You could use a Diet Dew can like my hubby does ;)
ReplyDeleteMARY - Oh boy, it's always something!! Unfortunate that they didn't get better training about the new wifi system. I hate it when I hear curse words from the basement. Never good!! I hope the specialist is able to help you with your problem with your left ear. How scary!!
ReplyDeleteMeeting GOLDIE, my Aunt Jane and her daughter Jenny for supper tonight. Can't wait to see them all ♥
ReplyDeleteOf course, on a day that I have plans, my youngest texted me that he needs new cowboy boots for wagon train next week.
ReplyDeleteMary, hope all turns out okay with your ear.
Hi barb too.
HOdi I agree that grandpa should be buying the boots. It's his wagon train, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd, eeeeew on the can.
Mary That sure is scary. I hope you can get your hearing back in that ear.
ReplyDeleteDianne I'm not a spitter, either.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be fun if we could all get together over drinks and talk about our day? And what will you be having for dinner? Are you not eating because of your Mexican lunch?
I wish we lived close enough to at least once a month like I do with my old co workers. I miss you all! A group grope would be good too lol!
ReplyDeleteJim gave up on the basement project for now.
Time to check on my farm......
Mary Yes, a group grope would be great. I promise not to spread germs. I'm feeling better. I think I just really annoyed my lungs and activated my asthma.
ReplyDeleteJustlin, so sorry about your crappy funky junk lol! I do nasal spray every morning for my allergies. Some days it doesn't seem to do a thing for me! I refuse to keep it from going on walks. My dogster also gets a runny nose and sneezes lol!!Oye Vey!!
ReplyDeleteI still don't know what the wagon train is....Jodi?
ReplyDeleteJL, yes no dinner for me since I had a big lunch.
Repeats are finally over on his show
Hi Di!! I am heading to bed too. Leno is done here so watching Craig Ferguson. Nite!
ReplyDeleteDianne It doesn't work to just eat one big meal. Your body thinks you can't scavage for food very often so it stores the fat for energy. It really is better to eat small meals all through the day then your body thinks food is plentiful. I know.....easier said than done.
ReplyDeleteHello Hooters.
ReplyDeleteMary, That is really scary about your hearing.
Good night and Sweet Dreams Hooters.

ReplyDeleteI caved and paid for the boots "for now". Tim owes Jake $50 and Jake earned $40 last weekend working a wedding with Grandpa. So I will get the rest of the money when Tim gets his first paycheck.
ReplyDelete100!!!
ReplyDeleteBARB - Just to let you know, I was 2 then :) But TINA was 2 1/2 ;P
ReplyDeleteDinner was fun last night. I love that GOLDIE and Jane are becoming friends, and Jenny fit right in!
ReplyDeleteI best get in the shower. I got to "sleep in" til 4:30 today. My manager asked me to come in later because truck will be an hour late today. Kinda enjoyed not getting up at the "pre-butt-crack of dawn" today.
ReplyDeleteHave a good night HOoters ♥
P.s. MARY you know I'm ALL about the group grope!!!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Here is the description of Wagon Train.
ReplyDeleteThe ride will begin gathering on Saturday June 9th at Horseman's Park in New Prospect, WI.
Jake will be in the covered wagon with Grandpa and Tim will be an "out rider" on horseback
ReplyDeleteSLIN - I know, right? I'm definitely not a spitter!!
