This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
No big plans for me today. Going to watch the fireworks on TV and avoid the crowds and the heat. Our temps are still in the three digits. So far it topped out at 111, but it was only 104 yesterday. Personally, anytime it gets over 100, it doesn't matter where it goes from there, it's all HOT!
Mary, once you get to the hotel in Vegas, just stay inside where they crank up the a/c.
Spent some time at my neighbor, Donna's back patio this afternoon. Weather is beautiful. Only about 82* here. Introduced her to the Hulamoo. She liked it so much, we had 2!! Jake even walked over for a little bit. He is getting around so much better!! Heading out soon to fireworks. Paul's cousin lives only 2 blocks away and is letting us park in her driveway. My boss Alex and his boyfriend Alex is coming with us. Should b a fun night!!
So glad to be done with work today!! Had about 10 different things to fix from the dumb broad that did books yesterday. Cash not counted correctly, and thrown all Willy Nilly in the safe. Shift tapes all f'd up, and she couldn't even leave me a note, or better yet, call and ask for help!!!
Went to see Man of Steel since Jen got sick last week. Great movie and Superman sure is dreamy, but they all made a real mess of Metropolis. And I think it lasted a little longer than needed.
Hi all..I'm home from the mountains. We had some rain enough to make camp ground muddy for the kids. It was what I'd call an "ok" weekend. I've had better. My daughters boyfriend didnt go so it was nice to have tammy and the girls in our cabin alone. My son and family were in their camp trailer kind of far from our cabin. As I said, it was ok. Lots of traffic coming home and we were home by 2:30. Stopped for lunch before we came here. I'm now doing some laundry but haven unpacked yet...only cooler and dirty clothes.
Barb and Jodi, Louis really like thar movie too. Can't remember if I told you that I saw The Heat...very funny
Only in the 70's here today. Guess it was in the high 90's while we were gone.
Happy 4th weekend to all of you.
Mary, you winning lots of money so you can come and visit me? Or go cruising? Don't go out in that heat. What shows are you going to?
Just got back from having breakfast with my hubby. He's working a 2nd shift now for the next couple of weeks. Got laundry started, and a second pot of coffee brewing. Trying to get all by work done around here so I can go play with GOLDIE and her family this afternoon. Her son and his family are here, and I so need a Brynn and Gavin fix!!!
Had a fun afternoon with GOLDIE and her Grandkids. We played mini golf and games in the club house. Jake and I played air hockey. What a hoot!!! I hadn't played that in over 25 years. GOLDIE and her hubby treated us to ice cream. On the way home Jake and I stopped in Madison for gyros. Jake decided he needed 2!! I don't know where that boy puts it....you damn well he will be STARVING in 2 hours. LOL!!!
I have no idea why I am not in bed! I only got 2 hrs of sleep last night. We had an early flight. I washed all of our shoes and sandals(soles) in Lysol. I hate bringing back nasty stuff into the house! I will tell you about the "nasty" later!!!
Dianne, I am all unpacked and ready to dump clothes in the washer. I put away all the toiletries, jewelry, etc. It's the part I hate the most so I do it first thing!
Jim & I went to a show at the Venetian that was comped. It was all music from Motown. Great music and the guys had cool Motown" moves. Funny thing, they were all from Australia! Been singing Motown all their lives. I went to see the shoe "One" at the Mirage. It was all Michael Jackson music, dancing, acrobatics, aerial acts, and awesome lighting effects. So much going on at the same time, hard to watch everything! Dianne, I won, but not enough to take anyone anywhere lol!! I sure would love a cruise though!! I am going to attempt to sleep. I am all showered and ready to drop! See yah all later......
Howdy...I went to lunch today and then called my brother and wife to see if they'd like a milk shake. My SIL is still recovering from hip surgery and my brother is having leg issues so thought they could use a treat. I hung out for a couple of hours, left, picked up dinner for Louis and my friend across town called to see where I was as I was supposed to meet her a half an hour earlier. I totally spaced it. She decided to wait for me so in rush hour I drove that direction. I felt terrible plus Louis didn't get his dinner!! I had a busy day.
Barb, I don't watch that show any more. I just got tired of it after all those years. My daughter loves Big Brother. I don't watch that either.
Jodi, glad you had fun with Goldie. Sounds like a fun day.
Mary, sounds like good shows. What the heck were you walking in or stepping in?
Hi, HOoters! I'm back again! I just got back from Boise last night. I was supposed to return on Saturday but there were maintenance issues with the plane so we all had to deplane before we ever took off and then word came that San Francisco airport was closed down due to the plane crash there. They couldn't get me on another flight for two days but that turned out just fine for me. I need to play catch up with what all is going on with you peeps.
J/L, Welcome home...again. You are quite the traveler. Are you home for a while now, or will you be off again soon? Do you have any exciting news from this last adventure? :).
Tonight I will be ushering for Showboat. I haven't seen this show for about 10 years. I love the music , Ole Man River, Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine...
Have errands to do before it gets too hot. Expecting 98 degrees today. Have a good day everyone.
MARY - Pray tell....define "nasty"!! I can remember you telling me about that MJ show. I'm sure it was fabulous!!!
DIANNE - That is what would happen if I didn't put every little thing in my calendar on my phone. And some days that would include sleeping ;)
BARB - How was the show? Not sure I've ever seen that one. Been humid as all get out the last couple of days. Looks like we will be getting a break from the heat/humidity by tomorrow.
J/L, If you get a hankerin' to leave again, I'm just a couple of hours away and if you're here on a Tuesday, you can buy a ticket to the Music Circus. The next two shows are Sugar on July 23, The King and I on August 6, and Chicago on August 20 & 27. Chcago is one of my faves.
So when I got home tonight and I pulled into my carport I saw a HUGE moth, which for lack of a better description I will call MOTHRA, on my bedroom window. This sucker was at least 3 inches long, and I'm not kidding. I have never seen such a big moth, except in that Japanese movie. I jumped out of my car and ran to the front door and checked around me before I opened the door. I was afraid it would follow me into the house, but I got in unscathed! I HATE moths and don't try to tell me they are just ugly butterflies like my Hubby used to say. They are NOT! I hope by tomorrow it has found another house to land on. If not, I may have to shoot it. Well, I don't have a gun, but I may have to call my neighbor over and bribe him to get rid of it.
Barb Thanks for the invitation. I just might take you up on that. Aren't you going to Australia soon?
Okay. Why are you afraid of moths and not butterflies? Your hubby was right. For all intents and purposes, they are the same thing as a butterfly. You would not like the butterfly habitat in Victoria, B.C. I swear there are butterflies and moths flying around in there that are somewhere between the size of a saucer and the size of a dinner plate. HUGE!
Good morning or afternoon whichever applies to you, Hooters.
I have decided that I (we all?) rely too much on electronic devices. I had a nightmare last night from which I awoke in a cold sweat. I dreamed I was back at work at the Governor's Office and (long story short) my phone was locked in a room for which I didn't have a key and the numbers of anyone I could call for help were all in my phone...locked in a room, yada yada yada. I was in charge of a BIG meeting with the Governor and a lot of important political people and the meeting place had to be changed and I couldn't get hold of anyone because I didn't have my phone. I went into a store looking for a pay phone to call the only person whose number I knew by heart and the young manager laughed at me like I was so old and said "don't you know there is no such thing anymore?" That's when I woke up.
I do have a lot of the numbers in my phone stored in another device (electronic address book) but I am thinking I really need to use an old fashioned paper and pencil and write them in an old fashioned address book as a back up. Don't know why I didn't think about this at Christmas when the battery died and I had to get a new one before I could send Christmas cards. Technology be damned, it can't totally replace the old way.
Barb I have all addresses and phone numbers in an old fashioned address book. I don't know anyone's phone number by heart, except I did know Lani's and I know the number at work.
Last night Jake and I went to Dubuque, Iowa for a drum corp competition!! Man, what a show!! The Madison Scouts were amazing!! There were also corps representing MARY, DIANNE, LYNN, and ZONA'S states. Jake and I had a blast!! And we were able to get a quick hug from James before he had to get on the bus.
HOdi Good morning! Yes, Barb and I are quite the party animals, aren't we? For me there will be more of the same today. It's just as well because I was gone quite a while and there's plenty of stuff I need to catch up on around here.
Hi everyone......here I am not doing much. Met a friend for lunch I hadn't seen for awhile so that's always fun. We are going to dinner with my brother and wife for Greek food. I love Greek food. It's just a little diner by their house. My SIL is still recuperating from her hip surgery.
I have every address and phone number in my phone but I also keep my old stand by address book. I should do a new one but probably won't.
Been get a few drops of rain ..which is nice. I'm telling you..we all need to live closer and then we can have some fun nights. Jodi, you always seem to be busy having fun!!! It helps to have kids.
My darn electric bill went up $100 this month. I knew it would increase but I wasn't prepared for $100. :(
Not much else new around here. Barb, how was Showboat? I've never seen that play but love the music. Did you sing again?
JL, still waiting for some pictures. I keep checking FB.
Dianne I didn't take much in pics since I only have a phone and no camera. My daughter took 2,500 photos so it will take a while for her to sort through them. She takes several shots of the same thing then picks out the best one to keep. I expect it will be a while until I see them.
Waving a wing from break. HAPPY 4th HOoters!!
ReplyDeleteMARY - Have fun in Vegas!! And an early Happy Birthday to Jim :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodi, I was wondering if I should have re posted from area 51 lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy & Safe Holiday to everyone!!!

ReplyDeleteGood night HOoters!!
ReplyDeleteQuiet day. Work was frustrating this weekend. Hoping to have a chat with my boss this week.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone is having a nice Sunday :)
Went to see Man of Steel since Jen got sick last week. Great movie and Superman sure is dreamy, but they all made a real mess of Metropolis. And I think it lasted a little longer than needed.
ReplyDeleteBARB - I loved the fabulous supporting cast of Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, and Diane Lang!! Oh, and Superman was plenty dreamy!!

I hope you are all having a nice evening.

ReplyDeleteSLIN - That's what he said ;)
ReplyDeleteGrrrr!! Internet is out. I didn't realize it before posting, so my last post is lost :(

ReplyDeleteSLIN - Afternoon pretty lady!! I couldn't imagine ever forgetting coffee ;)
ReplyDeleteSuccess!! The PT said Jake is on the fast track to healing. We go back on Monday :)
ReplyDeleteHOdi So glad Jake is doing so well. It must be his superior genes.

ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Hooters.
ReplyDeleteJ/L. Hey Girl! It's a beautiful day here, too...76 degrees.
I have no grand plan for today, but I will get out and soak up this weather. Maybe take a walk along the river.
What's everyone doing this fine Friday night? I have towels in the dryer and sheets in the washing machine. Woo hoo! What an exciting night!
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Shark Tank. It's a rerun and I'm bored.
