This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Our early dinner turned out nice and it was very crowded already. By the time we left there was an hour and a half wait. Louis gave me some charms for my pandora bracelet and a new bracelet as I'm getting a lot of charms
Well, Valentine's Day started out good. Took both boys to school, and took Sam and her boy to work. After Tim got done with school we picked Sam's car up (she had blown a hole in her radiator running her car too hot....OY!!! But thankfully my friend Ron was able to get it replaced under warranty) and delivered it to her work. Paul and I were suppose to go out for dinner last night, but I had laid down before he got home and SLEPT til my alarm went off at 2am!!! HOLY CRAP!!! I guess I needed to catch up on my sleep.
DIANNE - We are getting together at LOIS's the first weekend in June. Out in the sticks of Illinois. I will add your name to the thread on FB. Join us!!! TURTLE is even flying in for it!
Barb My Idaho friend got a bad cold while I was there and was now diagnosed with bronchitis,. I got this cold from him. So far, it is just in my throat and head.
Hi gals. Sorry to be MIA. We had a DJ/Karaoke job last night. I crashed most of the day. I kind of had a melt down today. My BIL called today. We talked about my Sis who recently passed (his wife). He broke down a couple of times. It was hard listening to him. I was ok for a while, then something reminded me of his call. I felt so bad for him. He adored her.
I'm going to check on my farms and watch the Olympics for a while....
Mary, your post got me a little teary. I am so sorry for your loss. The hurt never really goes away. This April it will be 21 years since my Hubby died and I still miss him, sometimes more than others, like when I banged into the garage door. We would both have laughed about it after he fixed it.
J/L, take care so that it doesn't turn into bronchitis for you, too. Remember the chicken soup and take some vitamin C. If I'm gonna be Mom, I'm gonna give Mom advice.
Mary...sending u hugs. Losing someone is so hard. I'm thinking of you.
You sick little owls stay up there on your own branch. I already had my winter sick. Don't let one cough germ escape but do bet better. Maybe you need to go to,the dr so it won't get worse. You shouldn't have been kissing last weekend,....j/s
Barb...you can be my mom but we are almost the same age so how would that work out?
I felt the "group grope" and I loved it! Today has been pretty blah. I made a baked chicken dinner and a did a tiny bit of house work. My back still aches from all the heavy lifting this week end. I think I will go to my Chiro next week to get the kinks out! I wish he was younger and cuter, I would have him take care of my "other kink" lol!
Last night I made myself some comfort food, kind of southern country. I made what my grandfather would have called "a mess o' green beans". That is green beans cooked with cubed potato, onion, and bacon. To be really country it should be ham hocks instead of bacon. I also made hoe cakes. Anybody know what those are?
J/L, I don't know what a hoe cake is either, unless you misspelled 'hot.' But my MIL used to make a mess o'green beans with all that stuff in them. But she called any big quantity of food 'mess o'something.' Apparently that wea the Okie way.
Hoe Cakes: Pat cooled cornmeal mush into patties and fry in a skillet. Especially good with butter spread on them when they're warm. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Slaves made hoe cakes by putting cornmeal patties on their hoes and holding them over the fire.
JL..how are you feeling? Is your fever gone? Hope you're better. Did u go to the dr? Lots of questions.
Well, it's official. I made plane and hotel reservations for my friend and I today. I'm very apprehensive about getting around but hopefully my friend and others will help me a little. It's just awkward but I really wanted to go and Louis have me a pep talk.
I can't decide if I should get a car or not. I need to sit in the front seat and we will have two suitcases and possibly my travel chair. I have to think about it. Bev and Barb gordon offered rides but I'm not sure there will be enough room I stress myself out about everything.
It's pretty quiet in here the last couple of days. We are having really nice weather for a couple more days
Not much new over here. My lady I visit wasn't feeling well today for a visit. I'll try again on Thursday.
DIANNE - I'm so excited that you are coming to HOFest!! It's been far too long since I've been able to sit on your lap and sing to you in person ♥ I think if you are most comfortable in your own vehicle, that's what you should do!! Maybe you can at least follow one of those ladies out to the sticks :)
Can't wait til after work. My new glasses came in and I can pick them up! These are a light tortoise shell on the front with lavender on the inside and a hint of lavender on the outer upper corners of the frame. I had a really hard time picking them out. But I feel these weren't too dark of a color and didn't wash me out.
Dianne, I thought you were traveling with Barbara Gordon or are you talking about another friend? Don't worry about getting help, we will all help you.
Jodi, J/L and I will be traveling together. Hopefully we won't miss our flight this time. I was going to call you to get some info but I wasn't sure when would be a good time. Can you give me a call, please?
Barb aka Mom No, I did not go to the doctor but my temp was nearly normal last night. I still have congestion but the worst of it is over. I will continue to take it easy so I don't relapse.
Dianne I did get a flu shot but apparently this was one of the ones that the shot didn't cover. At the beginning of it, I assumed it was a cold but I wouldn't have had a fever with a cold.
Yay for Louis giving you a pep talk. That's great! I'm so glad you're going.
Yesterday a plumbing company came out to replace my sewer line that runs the length of my backyard. Unfortunately, the line it connects to is 5 feet into my neighbor's yard behind me and they weren't home to get permission to dig in their yard. Hopefully, we'll get that permission soon. Meanwhile, the front of my house looks like a construction zone as the front deck had to be ripped out due to age and wood rot, etc. and a new one still needs to be built. Hopefully, that will get started next week. I also just sent in a signed contract to have my roof replaced. Ka-ching! I'll be accepting donations soon. LOL
I am getting so excited about our HO-fest! Dianne, you know am am not as spry as the other gals. You won't be alone in that department lol! Like my Father used to say "we make it!" I will prolly travel by train unless I find a good deal on a flight. I loved my last train ride. First one in the U.S.A.. I will make sure to get an early ticket this time so I can be on the lower level. It was a bitch lugging my stuff up and down the stairs. Still, it was a fun ride :)
JL, as long as we keep moving eh? I am glad you are feeling better. How is your smooching partner doing? ;-)
We are expecting a warm day tomorrow with rain! We will have a mess with all the piles of snow on the ground! Our roof has a high peak, but it still has at least a foot of snow on the side where the sun doesn't hit it. Michigan has has a lot of roofs cave in under the pressure of the snow. I don't know what the warm weather and rain will do! My son's room is right under the heaviest part of the roof.He says he hears the ice and snow making noises as it freezes and melts.
Last night Jake's wrestling team had a "scrimmage" with a couple other schools. The coaches tried matching up the kids as best as they could. Weight vs experience, etc. Jake's coach sent him a text asking him if he'd be willing to wrestle a guy that was 220 lbs, but only in his first season of wrestling. Jake was up to the challenge. He lost in overtime, but only by a point. AND the guy weighed more like 235 lbs....75 lbs more than Jake! He pinned the other 2 kids he wrestled. The first one was a great match up weight and experience-wise, the other was kinda comical. He was about a head shorter than Jake and about 3 times as wide. OY!!!
SLIN - Not quite ;-) After wrestling the really big dude, he was done. So he wasn't playing around with the last one. Rolled over the top of him, caught his leg and pinned him. BAM!!!
Happy Valentine's Day HOoters <3

ReplyDeleteMs. Jodi, you are looking fine in first today.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, we need to talk about the HoFest.
Waving a floppy wing to Dianne and Mary.

ReplyDeleteWhat Hofest? Are you all getting together? Hmm

ReplyDeleteJodi, Your body is telling you to slow down!
ReplyDeleteBARB - Yes, Mom....love u <3
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - I would love to see your bracelet!! Bring it to HoFest in June!
ReplyDeleteI've been sleeping away the afternoon. No matter how much I bundle up, I still get chills.
ReplyDeleteBarb My Idaho friend got a bad cold while I was there and was now diagnosed with bronchitis,. I got this cold from him. So far, it is just in my throat and head.
ReplyDeleteHOdi Do what Mama Barb says.
ReplyDeleteDianne You must have a lot of charms if a second bracelet was required. I want to see it, too.
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Take care. A couple shots of Jack might warm u up ;-) Keep sleeping. It will help.

ReplyDeleteAwe Barb, I bet you had a wonderful marriage if you could laugh about something like that. Thanks for the chuckle before bedtime :)
ReplyDeleteI think we need a group grope (or hug) but since I'm still sick I guess it will have to wait. <3
ReplyDeleteSLIN - *gloving up* honk, honk ;-)
ReplyDeleteMARY - Sending love your way. The loss of your sister is still so new ♥
ReplyDeleteMary...sending u hugs. Losing someone is so hard. I'm thinking of you.

JL, what Dianne said ;-)
Mary Your dinner sounds delicious. Take it easy so Your back doesn't get any worse.
ReplyDeleteI'm staying over here on the "sick" branch. I have a nagging cough, sinus congestion, and a mild headache. It could be worse.

ReplyDeleteMary, Don't overdo. We need you in good shape.
ReplyDeleteDianne, Not sure how that works.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi, ♥
ReplyDeleteHey BARB :-)
ReplyDeleteHoe Cakes: Pat cooled cornmeal mush into patties and fry in a skillet. Especially good with butter spread on them when they're warm. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Slaves made hoe cakes by putting cornmeal patties on their hoes and holding them over the fire.
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Love corn muffins, so I think I would love the hoe cakes, too!
ReplyDeletep.s. Thanks for the history lesson :)
ReplyDeleteTemperature of 101. Can I be done with this now?
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Chicken soup!! Starve a cold, feed a fever :-)
ReplyDeleteJ/L, You better get thee to the doctor and make sure you don't have the flu. Take NO chances! Mom
ReplyDeleteJL..how are you feeling? Is your fever gone? Hope you're better. Did u go to the dr? Lots of questions.

ReplyDeleteBARB - I will call u after work.
ReplyDeleteHOdi That touch of lavender is going to look super with your hair color! You'll be rockin' those glasses.
ReplyDeleteBarb aka Mom No, I did not go to the doctor but my temp was nearly normal last night. I still have congestion but the worst of it is over. I will continue to take it easy so I don't relapse.

ReplyDeleteJ/L, Yikes, that's a lot of hunky guys to be hangin' (pun intended) at your house!
ReplyDeleteI am getting so excited about our HO-fest! Dianne, you know am am not as spry as the other gals. You won't be alone in that department lol! Like my Father used to say "we make it!"
ReplyDeleteI will prolly travel by train unless I find a good deal on a flight. I loved my last train ride. First one in the U.S.A.. I will make sure to get an early ticket this time so I can be on the lower level. It was a bitch lugging my stuff up and down the stairs. Still, it was a fun ride :)
Mary I'm certainly not as spry as most of the Ho's, either, but I "get along". :)
ReplyDeleteJL, as long as we keep moving eh? I am glad you are feeling better. How is your smooching partner doing? ;-)

Mary My smooching partner finished his antibiotics today so is feeling pretty good. I'm glad I didn't end up with bronchitis like he did.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to end up with a huge pile of slush?
SLIN - We could use some improvements here, too! Good luck with all your projects :)
ReplyDeleteMARY - Best surprise ever seeing you get off that train!! I hope you get your lower level seat!
ReplyDeleteHuge pile of slush....maybe enough to make shave ice? What a tasty treat that was...and a fun day ♥
ReplyDeleteBARB - You're "pun-y"!! Have a good day lady!
