This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Hope everyone is having. A great Friday. Jodi, I'm so sorry to hear about you and Lois losing your friend. From what I have read, she went very quickly. So sad. My heart breaks for her friends and family. I'm in WA state visiting friends and family for a week. Robert comes in next weekend for a dinner we are attending. I'm not saying anything on FB about being here. I don't have time to visit some people who have been asking, and I feel guilty about it. When I'm here I want to see my family and really close friends. I just don't have time for former co-workers :-( So I'm being quiet about it. Silly of me, but I don't like hurting someone's feelings. I know I should just make the time, but I don't. I want to see my mommy and Katie more than anything else. Will try to stop by and see how you guys are doing.
Howdy Hooters! That was hilarious Hodi! I am thinking that guy will be having nightmares about little old ladies for a while lol!!
I am having some bad foot/heel pain. I helped at a friends funeral dinner today. I was there 5 hrs, most of it on my feet. It didn't hurt too bad at the time :(
I have a busy week coming up. Dr appointments and a visit with my Niece Jaimie in Grand Rapids. She is the one I took to Europe. We love to have lunch and talk about our trips. I don't say anything to her Mom, my Sis. She seems to get jealous when I spend time with her daughters, without her. Makes me sad to have to do it, but they seem to agree with the arrangement. If she asked I would not lie about it, just not wanting to get her mad kwim?
Jodi, I laugh every time you say "Pimpala". I had a guy friend that referred to his Oldsmobile as his "bluesmobile".
Very funny blog, Jodi. Thank you. I'll be watching out for you in you car!!
Barbara in Wa ...have fun in WA. So nice that you get to spend some time with your daughter and mom. Hope you have some sun while you are there.
Mary, five hours is a long time to be standing. I don't know how you do it.
Barb, when do you leave for SD ? I already forgot I do remember that you'll be gone for two weeks.
JL, I was thinking the same as a Barb that you were sure up early. Maybe you just up on a potty break
Ok guys...yesterday I was on a side street and there was a small bar called Nite Owl Bar and Grill. I should have taken a picture. I perked in the window and saw one of you. I won't mention hoo I mean who. Maybe we could have our next reunion there
Mary, sorry about your friend (((hugs))) I understand about wanting to keep the lunch with Jaimie quiet. Sometimes it's just better to keep things quiet and not say anything. My sister would love it if I visited her kids. She sends home made goodies up to Bryan all the time and begs Katie to come over and get stuff. We have a great relationship and I miss her tons. She is out of town this weekend but I will get to see her during the week :-) Dianne, how funny!
Barb Yes, I was up early by my standards. I had the building inspector coming between 9 and 1 so I wanted to be dressed and have my face on and hair fixed. Got my final okay on the new front deck. They wouldn't give it to me until I had a carbon monoxide and smoke alarms in the hallway as well as a smoke alarm in every bedroom, regardless of if it's being used as a bedroom or not.
So far, in the last couple of months I've replaced the sewer line, had a new roof put on, had a new front deck built, and created a little rock and plant garden in front of the deck. Now I need to get a new front door and then I'll have the house painted. This is why there is no cruise planned this year.
Barbara in WA Enjoy your visit with your mom and daughter. Sometimes we just don't have time for everyone and we need to concentrate on those that are most dear to us. Time flies by too quickly.
I hope you are all having a nice weekend. It's a beautiful day here after yesterdays deluge. This weather is really crazy. The rain yesterday closed down the Asparagus Festival so we are going to go tomorrow. Lots of good stuff made with asparagus, but the fried with Parmesan sprinkled on top is the best. I may even try the asparagus ice cream.
JL, I think a nice orange and blue would look lovely on your house. What do u think?
I'm going to a chocolate party tomorrow. I've never heard of them. Chocolate salsa (not for me). It's all Dove chocolate I think. I don't usually go to those things but sounded fun.
Barb, you're having rain and they day snow for us tomorrow. Hope they are wrong again.
JL, hmm, I'm kind of shy to go into the Nite Owl Bar without my owl partners in crime. What if I got mugged? It was kind of off the beaten path.
It's kind of a boring night. Louis is sneezing with allergies and not feeling great so we didn't go out to eat. Good thing I was out for a long breakfast/lunch. He said I have to be entertained too much.
Dianne I saw on the news before I left that you guys might get some snow. They were saying up to a foot in the south and just a dusting in Denver. Did that change? It was raining here but now just a little windy. It will probably start raining again. Suppose to clear up this week though and get close to 80! WootWoot!!!
BARB IN WA - Thank u! She was so full of life and constantly on the go. Thankfully I was able to rearrange my schedule so I can go to the funeral on Tuesday. Enjoy your time in WA! And don't worry about not pleasing everyone. It's YOUR time. Do what u want and ENJOY!!!
So far no snow...not even any rain. We had a lot of wind and clouds but that's it.
Went to a chocolate part today. That was fun and different plus got to meet lots of new people. I always like to do that. I tried chocolate martinis ...pretty good. Olive Garden for dinner.
What's up with the rest of you today? Anything fun and exciting?
Working 4-10 this morning. After Jake's Career Conference at 2 pm I'm heading down to LOIS's. Meeting her at the wake tonight and attending the funeral tomorrow.
HOdi Safe travels. I'll be thinking of you and Lois. Thank you for posting that obit on FB. It sounded like she was a wonderful person and gone way too soon. Tragedies like that make you cherish every extra day that we have. I am lucky to be turning 67 soon and will stop whining about it.
Well pooh! I wrote a comment this afternoon on my phone and it didn't appear!
I was about 25 miles from home doing a follow with my surgeon. I locked myself out of my Jeep! Pissed me off! Hate when I do that! My son brought them to me. I am scheduled for surgery next Tues. My surgeon (Arthroscopic)said I have a small tumor that he wants removed. He's not sure what kind it is and won't know until he removes it. He said it would be a one day thing and not to worry, easy for him lol! Anyway, say a prayer for my a-hole :(
JL,Yes I did LOL! That was closer to home.My problem is when I sit in my Jeep for a while. I know better! I usually instantly hook them to my purse. I only have one extra set and don't dare keep them both on me! If I lock the Jeep with my purse in, I would be screwed!
Waving a wing from The Sticks! Made a pot of coffee and enjoying a quiet morning. LOIS told me to put the Fire Dept in my phone for directions to the wake because it is right next door. I thought, now I have to find the place. That was easy....just follow the people!! What a turn out and tribute to a beautiful soul. I don't think she realized how much she was loved.
Might be taking mom to a movie. But there is nothing....nothing I want to see. But I will sit through something if she wants to see it. Her hip has been hurting so there is not much more she is willing to do. Would love to go to a museum or something but she can't walk around for extended periods of time. Tonight I'm spending time with a couple friends. Having dinner and then maybe some shopping. We will be finalizing discussions on our trip to Hawaii in May. Been thinking of Lois and your friend. It's just so sad. I've seen you guys post pics with her and you all always looked so happy, and like you were having so much fun. It's so sad that she left so quickly.
Mary Is your car door key an electronic one? If not, having a third door key made to keep in your wallet would only cost a few dollars at a hardware store.
Barbara in WA Sounds like you are making the most of your visit with family and friends. I think I would like to see "The Grand Budapest Hotel". Lots of people in it and it looks like fun.
Jodi, thinking about you and Lois. Remember to drive safely.
Barbara in WA, glad you are having fun. It hasn't snowed here yet but the wind sucks!! Gloomy outside. The Draft Fay movie looks good and I've heard from others if you like football it's good. It's got a great cast too.
Mary, I'm saying prayers for your little bottom. Glad you had your test. Maybe that will encourage me to go have my overdue one.
One more day Barb and off to SD you go. Will you be able to post from there? I hope so. We will want to hear the mischief you are stirring up.
Ok JL..13 days to get that cruise ticket to hop aboard with me. Hurry hurry ...paint the house next year.
My lunch canceled for today so doing much needed things around here. Going to dinner with my GD tonight to "discuss" what a brat she was last week.
Yes Dianne, one more day and I'm leavin' on a jet plane. I will take my iPad so I can check in on you guys. The weekend after I get back, I'm going back to SoCal, (driving this time), to spend a few days with some high school friends. We do this every year and since we are Catholic school girls, we call it our retreat. ;
Barbara in WA, When I was in Seattle, my son took me to the Aquarium and my leg was in a cast at the time. He called ahead and they had wheelchairs available so we were able to go. Maybe the museum will have wheelchairs so you can take your Mom. Check it out.
Thanks a-hole lot for all the sweet thoughts on my but lol!
I had a great lunch with my Niece Jaimie today. She is such a joy to be around. She has had a lot of health issues and after 3 yrs thinks she is on the road to recovery mentally and physically. She loves connecting with me. She is sad that she doesn't have a good relationship with her Mom. I am proud of all the hard work she has done to get healthy.
Jodi, thinking of you and Lois today <3
JL, the locks are electronic. I need the combination type lol! Nah, I would prolly go blank and be stuck!
Barb, I want to see "The Grand Budapest Hotel" too!
Dianne,I so envy your upcoming cruise! I wish Jim would travel with me :(
Barb, I know you will enjoy the time with your friends! I have been to San Diego once. I loved sitting and watching the waves come in!
So.... Dinner out with my friends was actually a surprise party for me :-) I was so stunned. Had no idea. My friends Beth and Sandy planned the party as soon as they found out I was coming to town. I wanted to cry but held on for dear life! They made desserts and had wine. Then we spent the evening painting wine glasses. Beth is going to finish them and then pack them up and send them too me. I now have a dozen wine glasses hand painted by friends and family. I love it.
Best "hoist and rinse"! I work the rest of the week because I finally have the weekend off!!! It's been over a month since I had two days off in a row.
Barbara in WA Your surprise party sounds so great! What great friends you have! Oh, and I like it that everyone started painting after they started drinking the wine. The better to let the creative juices flow. LOL Wonderful mementos for you to keep.
HOdi I always laugh at your "hoist and rinse" comment. Don't know about you but I really do have to hoist to rinse. My Idaho friend tells me that in high school he and his friends nicknamed me High Points. Ha! They sure aint' high any more.
Barb in Wa...how fun that your friends had a surprise party for you. Very nice. I think I'd rather paint a wine glass than those canvas you paint !!
JL...so should we start calling you High Points now? Just wondering if that would bring back fond memories. Sigh.
Jodi..glad you get a full two days off. You must be pooped. Any plans for your time off?
Mary..Hop aboard my cruise. JL won't go but you are welcome. The more the merrier. When do you have you bottom surgery?
BARB..you all settled in for the next two weeks? Are you going to get out some? Go to the ocean?
Went to dinner with both my again GD tonight. The younger one is still a brat and this time brought me to tears. She has quite an attitude for a 13 year old. It's been a long night.
DIANNE - No big plans. I will probably do laundry on Friday after work so I will truly have 2 days off!! I think I am going to my friend Christina's house on Saturday. She's been craving my potato salad. So I'm going to make it at her house. Her Mom is also coming over. Now that she has retired I don't get to see her too often anymore. She used to stop at our store 2-3 times a week on her way to work. I also heard my friend Tracy is having a party for her Grandson Devan's 6th birthday. Love the little guy, so I will probably pop in. I also heard that they are having a bonfire later in the night, so I will be bring the Spotted Cow!!
So sorry your 13 year old GD made u cry!! I can remember many tears when Sam was that age. Love u ♥
Kinda nice to be able to "sleep in" this morning. I don't work til 6...wheeeeeee!!! I also have my first shift leader meeting this afternoon. Should be interesting.
Thanks Jodi...I remember those tears with my daughter years ago but I didn't think I'd have to experience them with a grandchild. I thought being Nana was going to be all fun ... Boy, have I been surprised.
Dianne I'm so sorry that your youngest GD is being such a brat. That's a tough age, for sure. Keep your thoughts on your upcoming cruise. When do you leave and what line are you cruising on. Wish I could go but too much going on here, plus I'd have to pay for two fares to get a cabin and I like a balcony.
Dianne, so sorry your granddaughter was being a poop. I think the next time you need to leave her home and then buy a little gift for the other one! Just something fun and small. Tell the 13 year old that she was not nice to you the last time and you will not be taking her out for a while. Some kids unfortunately are just born brats!!!
Happy almost Friday! My mini surgery is this coming Tues. I should have mentioned that I prefer you don't mention it on FB. Not many of my friends or family know about it. I am hoping for a simple surgery and not make a big thing of it. Thanks :)
Tomorrow I am meeting some old school friends at the Masonic Home to visit their brother. He was in my grade. It is always sad to see him. He has MS. It is only a few miles from the Casino, soooo, I may drag myself there lol!
Dianne, I forget where you are going?. If it is a warm place I may hide in your luggage. I hope you have a BIG suitcase lol!
MARY - No worries, I will keep your a-hole on the "down low"....;) Bless u for going to visit your friends brother. MS is such a debilitating disease. Love u lady ♥

Good morning HOoters!!
TINA - I forgot I had sent that to you! Hope you had a good visit with your Mom ♥
HOdi Thanks for the blog today. Is that what you're like when you're driving your Pimpala? LOL
And you look lovely at first, by the way.
SLIN - Maybe ;-) Don't mess with the Pimpala!!
Jodi, LOL Don't mess with the Pimpala.
J/L, You are up early today! You must have a busy day planned.

Mary Ouch! So sorry that your heal is causing you so much pain. I'm sure all those hours on your feet didn't help things any.
Dianne Ha! The Night Owl Bar and Grill sounds like a place to visit. You should try it out sometime and report back to us.
HOdi Do you have fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror of the Pimpala? ;)
Happy Saturday.
I hope you are all having a nice weekend. It's a beautiful day here after yesterdays deluge. This weather is really crazy. Mary, I hope you can get some relief for your foot pain. You need to be in tip top shape by June.
Dianne, I leave for SD on Wednesday.
J/L, have you picked a color for your house paint yet?
Waving a wing to Jodi and Barbara in WA.
JL, I think a nice orange and blue would look lovely on your house. What do u think?

MARY - Hoping your heel is feeling better. (((hugs))) roomie ♥
DIANNE - Hope you don't get too much snow. We are in for a rainy week. I would so go to that bar with u...and I'd drive us in the Pimpala!!
SLIN - No fuzzy dice. I found a cute "lei" air freshener that is Pina Colada scented. Love it!!!
Best get prettied up for work. Thankfully I won't have the 10 hour day I had yesterday!
Enjoy your Sunday HOoters ♥
Waving a wing back at BARB!
DIANNE - I've never heard of a chocolate party before! Glad u had fun :)
Where is everyone today? At a different party you forgot to tell me about? At church? Helooooo
Working 4-10 this morning. After Jake's Career Conference at 2 pm I'm heading down to LOIS's. Meeting her at the wake tonight and attending the funeral tomorrow.
Wishing you all a good week ♥
DIANNE - Watch where you're stepping lady. I'm right here ;)
Jodi....Hi...I see you. Be careful on your drive
Thanks DIANNE!
Dianne Yum! Chocolate martinis sound good. I think a chocolate party sounds like a lot more fun than a Tupperware party.
I was out running errands for a good part of yesterday. Nothing exciting. Today I will go to work for a while and that won't be exciting, either.
Aaaah....SLIN, riding the pedicure chair right now!! A little piece of heaven!!
HOdi2 LOL @ riding the pedicure chair. Does it vibrate enough? LOL
Mary Where are you? I hope your foot is less troublesome today.
Barb Are you all packed for your San Diego trip?
Barbara in WA Waving a wing at you! It's lovely here in the SF Bay Area today. It's about 60 and not a cloud in the sky.
Tina What's up?
Aaaah....yesssss!!!! ;-)

Mary Sorry about your a-hole. I'll send up a little prayer for good results.
As for your keys... Didn't you just do that not that long ago? How about get an extra key and carry it in your wallet.
JL,Yes I did LOL! That was closer to home.My problem is when I sit in my Jeep for a while. I know better! I usually instantly hook them to my purse.
I only have one extra set and don't dare keep them both on me! If I lock the Jeep with my purse in, I would be screwed!
Dang Mary.....sorry to hear about your a-hole. Will keep your a-hole in my thoughts and send it many healing vibes. I love you and your a-hole!
Jodi, safe travels. Will keep you and Miss Lois in my thoughts :-(
Waving a big hello to everyone. Spent the day with a friend and then went to my sisters for a walk. So tired.
Waving a wing from The Sticks! Made a pot of coffee and enjoying a quiet morning. LOIS told me to put the Fire Dept in my phone for directions to the wake because it is right next door. Jodi, Thinking of you and Kim today. Just another sad example of how short life really is.
Mary, don't know what to say about your A-hole, except I can pray for it.
J/L, it's going to be in the 90s here all week. Not for me to worry, I'll be near the ocean. :)
GD canceled do no lunch or dinner and now I'm starving. I don't like canceled things Boring.
Dianne That's a drag to have a last minute cancellation. Go out anyway. I like to eat out while reading my Kindle.
Barb I love that your school girlfriends have an annual "retreat". Pretty soon we'll be flying to Illinois (if we don't miss our flight). LOL
Thanks a-hole lot for all the sweet thoughts on my but lol!
I had a great lunch with my Niece Jaimie today. She is such a joy to be around. She has had a lot of health issues and after 3 yrs thinks she is on the road to recovery mentally and physically. 69!!!
BARB IN WA - How fun!! And you have a cool way to remember it!
BARB - Safe travels today!
Best "hoist and rinse"! I work the rest of the week because I finally have the weekend off!!! It's been over a month since I had two days off in a row.
Have a great day HOoters ♥
Good merrrrrrrrnin' HOoters!!
SLIN - ZONA started with the "hoist and rinse" and it just stuck! And yes, I really do. This is why I keep the girls "locked and loaded" ;)
Pouring my 2nd cup of coffee...cheers HOoters!!
HOdi Sounds like you have a lot going on this weekend. My daughter is coming over on Saturday to take me to lunch; early birthday celebration.
SLIN - Sounds like fun! Say Hi to Liz for me :)
MARY - No worries, I will keep your a-hole on the "down low"....;) Bless u for going to visit your friends brother. MS is such a debilitating disease. Love u lady ♥
Mary..TOO COLD FOR YOU.Alaska but you are welcome to come along
Em wasn't born a brat she turned into one three weeks ago. She'll be 14 next month, can't wait to see what that brings.
DIANNE - Waving a wing as I walk out the door! Hopefully your GD will overcome her bratiness soon!!!
