New York Cab Ride

by Dianne

A woman and her 10 year old son were riding in a taxi in New York. It was raining and all the prostitutes were standing under the awnings.

"Mom " said the boy, "what are all these women doing?"

"They're waiting for their husbands to get off work," she replies.

The taxi driver turns around and says "Geez, lady, why don't you tell him the truth? They're hookers, kid! They have sex with men for money."

The little boy's eyes get wide and he says, "Is that true, mom?"

His mother, glaring hard at the driver, answers in the affirmative.

After a few minutes, the kid asks, "Mom, what happens to the babies those women have?"

"Most of them become taxi drivers!" she said.

  2. I'm babysitting a fish tank this afternoon. Tammy's boyfriend had a huge fish tank and three men came to drain it and get the three little fish and tank the darn tank out of here. One more item of his gone,..I'm determined!! I brought my ipad and some magazines and phone calls to make so I'm good. I have some walmart errands this afternoon. I've been trying to get the new Streisand cd that came out Tuesday but it's sold out everywhere !!

It's hot today...in the 90's again. Too hot for me.

JL...have fun at your brothers. What are you going to do there? It will be nice for you to be out of the house. You should do something exciting for his birthday.

Jodi, I hope Jake doesn't have to have surgery. It's too bad about football for him. These kids are so worrisome.

Barb, oh your air sounds horrible. You can't even see accross the street??? Scary. I hope stay safe. Stay inside so you don't breathe that junk. May e you need a mask after all you've been through.

Barb in Co must be busy packing to move. I haven heard from her for lunch either since her vacation.

Hmmm think I'll take a little nap over here before I leave. A little country music, quiet, sunny ahhh

  5. I'm packed and ready to go. I found that when I expand my new suitcase I can get all three of my pillows into it, too. Fortunately, they are down pillows so do not amount to too much when you press the air out of them. I will need these as I have to be kind of propped up at this point which I use two of them for and the third to give support under my arm. Also can pack my baton which I use for two of the exercises I need to do for range of motion for my shoulder. I'm loving this new suitcase.

  6. J/L, Don't forget to pack your pillows when you come home! ;)

  7. Barb - LOL I surely won't forget to bring them home. It would be quite noticeable not to have two king size pillows and one standard one in there.

  9. HI...having not such a great day. Did take a great friend to lunch for her bday but feeling kind of down later. It's just one of those days. Where are all of you today? I know JL is gone on her trip.

Broncos play our old Super Bowl game over again tomorrow in Seattle. I don't think it will be pretty again but maybe better than last time. Go Broncos.

JL..good luggage that you could get all those pillos packed. Did you remember to take clothiers too ?

Barb, how that smoke? Any better?

Jodi, what's up? Working or having a fun weekend or both?

Barb in a Co...keep packing..see you Monday. Glad you get a lunch break.

    Mary, you must be lost.

  10. Dianne, the fire is still raging. The wind shifted and the visibility is better, but the air quality is still very bad.

  11. Just popping in for a sec.
I have been super busy! I am almost packed for our Vegas trip tomorrow. I think I am having doggie separation anxiety lol! She she saw the luggage come out and keeps looking at me in such a sad way :(
Our two sons will be here watching both of our dogs. I have a long to-do list for them lol!

Sorry I haven't kept up with the blog. Our internet resets midnight tonight. I won't have internet in Vegas unless I find it in the mall. The Casinos charge about $15 a day to use their service! Money grubbers !
I can use my phone, so not all is lost :)

My Hawaiian/photographer, Michi is in Vegas doing the Jazz festival pics. We will try to hook up. She is a doll :)

I better get back to the packing, Later (after midnight :)

  12. LOL, Michi is not "my Hawaiian photographer". I meant, " my friend, Michi"

  13. Hi, HOoters! My airport experience was not what I expected. I was designated as TSA Pre checked so was able to go in the shorter line and wasn't required to take of my shoes, etc. However, my sling seemed to cause problems when walking thru the scan arch. I then had to take it off, had my hands swabbed and tested, had a thorough pat down(cheap thrills), and they went thru my purse. I did not have a carry-on or they surely would have gone thru that, too. You can bet I'll be removing the sling and put it on the x-ray conveyer belt for my flight home.

Anyway, it has been warm here by my standards and will get even warmer tomorrow when it is in the 90's. At least it isn't as bad as last week when it was 107 one day.

Tomorrow is my little brother's 62nd b-day. I will be taking him out for his favorite filet mignon dinner. He is making himself his favorite cake; German Chocolate. The cake is from a mix but he makes the frosting from scratch just like Mom did for him. So delicious.

  14. Barb - My daughter, her boyfriend, and the dogs took a long route to Tahoe for the weekend. I'm glad they were able to take their trip as planned in spite of the fire.

  15. Dianne -I hope you are feellng more chipper now. When is your next cruise?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mary - Say hello to Michi for me. You will have to remind her which one I was. LOL. Oh, and win lots of money and stay cool.

  17. HOdi and Barb in CO - What's up? Hope all is well.

  18. JL...glad you arrived safely and in one piece. Hope you had a nice dinner tonight. Sounded yummy. It seems like it's getting harder and harder to fly anymore. Our next cruise is not until May so long time to wait. I slept a lot today..even thru the Bronco loss game but didn't make me chipper!!'

Mary, have fun and win lots. Your dog will be fine

Barb in Co...see you are sleeping on bathroom floor tonight trying to quiet a new kitty. Hope you won't sleep through our lunch tomorrow.

    Jodi...peek a boo..where are you?

Barb, hurry and come to lunch with us Monday. You need to get out of that smoke.

  19. J/L, I had a lot of errands to do today because I have been putting them off due to the smkpoky air. I couldn't believe how smokey the air is, still. It smells like a BBQ out there I'm glad your daughter was able to go to Tahoe. I heard the air is bad up there, too.

  20. *smokey*. I didn't know what the hell smkpoky is!

  21. Dianne, I wish I could be there for lunch. Maybe one day!

  22. DIANNE - Ha! Cute blog. That cabbie deserved that comment!!

  23. SLIN - Yay for rain! So much for the cheap thrill at the airport. Did you get a private room like I did when I was leaving Kauai the last time? Please wish your brother a Happy Birthday and enjoy your trip!

  24. DIANNE - I had sent Jake's MRI report to the trainer. She works for UW Sports Medicine and shared the report with their top surgeon. So when I went to pick Jake up today, she wanted to talk to us. She wanted to prepare us for what we will probably hear tomorrow with Jake's surgeon. She thinks they will probably have to do a complete ACL rebuild. Not the scenario we were hoping to hear, but gave us some really good questions to ask. If that is the case the recovery will be at least a year.

  25. BARB - I couldn't imagine what you've been going thru with that fire. Hoping the wind picks up and carries away all that smoke!

    ReplyDelete
  26. MARY - Have fun in Vegas and give Michi a squeeze from me!!

  27. Paul and I went out Friday night for dinner to celebrate our Anniversary. I wanted to go dancing, but the bar I picked him up at didn't have music playing that night. I will have to drag him out another time. He owes me at least that after 25 years ;)

  28. BARB IN COviaWA - Your big walk thru is this week, right? How exciting!! We've been in our house 22 years. I would love to have something shiny and new. Maybe after all the kids are gone....sigh ;)

  29. I will post again after Jake's appointment tomorrow.

    Good night HOoters ♥

  30. Jodi, if Jake does have to go through an ACL reconstruction, it will be a hard year for Jake and you too. There were LOTS of PT appointments and lots of home therapy for Todd when he went through it. I will pray that they can fix it without doing such an invasive treatment. ❤️

    ReplyDelete
  31. BARB - Praying for an easier fix. It will be a tough year keeping my boy down. Remember, his idea of taking it easy was pulling rope this summer. UGH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jodi, I know exactly what you mean. Been there...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just got back from the surgeon's office. Jake is having ACL reconstruction surgery on Nov 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jodi, so what exactly does that mean and what is the recovery?

    ReplyDelete
  35. DIANNE - They will harvest part of his Patella Ligament to make a new ACL. The ACL is the ligament that keeps your knee stable when doing twisting moves. Very important for an athlete. His recovery could be as quick as 6 months depending how hard he works on his PT.

  36. Jodi, so sorry Jake has to have reconstruction surgery. I will pray that it goes well.
