This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Bwah ha ha ha!!! It's the "hairy legs" that got me! I shave every other day and would gladly give it up! Problem is that I would never get into that "teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini!"
Hi Barb in CO!!
Justlin, I agree! I am hunkard down for the winter!
We have gotten a lot of snow with more coming! I can't believe we have it so early! Makes for a long winter :(
Jodi & J/L. Thanks for the good wishes, ju ju and prayers. I just got home (8:05pm pst). Dean's surgery went very well and they had him up and walking about three hours after he got to his room. He will be staying overnight and may go home tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. He is already antsy to go home! They are managing his pain with morphine and Norco which has put him in very good spirits!
I like that bear idea. Swatting everything that gets in your way!! I barely have to shave anymore either and I'm glad. It doesn't seem so important as my young days either.
Barb, I'm glad your son is doing well after his surgery. They sure get you up quick. I think I already have to go back for my two year check up in January. I hope he recovers quickly.
Jodi, are you awake? Did you manage to stay awake all day? Long day, right?
Louis and I went out for my Birthday dinner tonight. I had a really good salmon dish. I met him after I had my hair "highlighted".
Barbara in Co...you are first and the most beautiful today. We all are pretty hot but first always gets prettiest.
What are you all doing for Thanksgiving? Anyone want me to come over? Louis will be in Virginia so I'm available actually for a whole week!
P S. Barb...I see your Raiders won tonight. If you can believe it, I was actually (gulp) wanting them to win. We were tied with KC for first but not anymore!! So thanks.
DIANNE - After this time change...I definitely feel like a bear ;) And yes, I made it thru my shift! Sucks that I got off after it was dark, though. I'm working til 11 am on Thanksgiving then we are going to my in-laws for dinner. I am of course bringing the requisite green bean casserole! Although I won't be able to watch all of it, I will be able to see the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. My nephew James is marching with the Madison Scouts....Corps of Brothers. They are the last unit in the parade before Santa. They have current and alumni marching for the parade and have representation from the every decade from the late 50's forward. Over 400 members and alumni will be marching. Awesome!!
BARB - Glad Dean's surgery went well. Gotta love the "candy man" ;) I've noticed in the last couple of years I really only need to shave the front of my legs. Nothing really grows in back anymore! Yay!!!
Dianne, We couldn't watch the game in the hospital, so I didn't know the Raiders won until I got an alert on my phone. I was driving home when I heard the alert and I couldn't look at it until I got of the freeway and got to a red light. I almost didn't believe it! I tested Dean (he's a 49er fan) and he thought I was kidding! It's not easy being a Raiders fan!
Barb I'm so glad that Dean's surgery went well. LOL @ not being easy to be a Raiders fan. No wonder you got an alert when they won! I'm surprised it wasn't "Breaking News" on the TV. ;)
My doctor and I came to an agreement about my bone density situation which is regarded as "mildly low". Did I tell you that? Anyway, I didn't like the way the once a week pill made my stomach feel kind of yucky all day so I'm going to try and address the situation with calcium supplements, diet, exercise, etc. We'll recheck my bone density in 5 years. Changes in bone density happen very slowly so there would be no point in rechecking it any sooner.
I bought a new TV yesterday. Yay! It was a bummer not having a picture on the screen for a couple of days. It was kind of like the old days of radio but back then they knew the audience couldn't see what was going on so the performances were tailored to that situation. It doesn't work so well with TV shows.
Just little bits of snow left over. Wind blew most of it away. Dianne...Did you get those high winds? Lordy, they were something. I think Mary has bunches of snow.
I didn't realize I was so pretty yesterday! LOL!
Katie and Tim are coming for the weekend! YAY!
Dianne....Are you available for lunch this week since Louis is gone?
Waving at everyone and hope you all have a fantastic day:-)
SLIN - I am DVR'g the parade. But according to the info I've found, I should be able to watch the Madison Scouts live! Congrats on your new tv. We only have one small flat screen, and that's in our bedroom. The other 2 are bigger, older ones that weigh a ton. But they still work, so I refuse to get new ones. None of our tv's are HD.
Well, Jake's post op visits went well. He can get his wound wet now. No more having to wrap it in Saran Wrap in the shower. He is also done with crutches. The pt guy was impressed. Jake can bend his knee to just past 90°.
Heading to breakfast this morning with James' Mom Shari. We are going to the restaurant/bar Tim works at. They recently started offering breakfast, and I want to check it out.
It's another rainy day here. Yay! Because of that and also since our local Safeway is a zoo on Saturdays, I'm having groceries delivered this afternoon. Yes, I am lazy. LOL
Paul was a trooper last night and went out for with us for our Kwik Trip night at Mulligan's. We even got to dance! We didn't get home until after 1 am. Needless to say I slept well ;)
Heading out to get a couple of things before the Packer game starts. I have the chili dip heating in the little crock. GO PACK!!!
HOdi Sounds like you had a fun night with your Honey. Good for you. You deserve more times like that. Hey, does this mean you can get Tim to cook at home for you sometimes?
J/L, It rained all day here yesterday, too. I was glad to see it, but we still need a LOT more! I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the gross-ry store on Saturday. I try to avoid that, too. Plus, they will be very busy today through Wednesday since people will be shopping for Thanksgiving. I only have to make turkey dressing to take to Dean's, since his wife is cooking. I bought the fixins last week to avoi8n the crowds.
Jodi, Dean is doing very well. He has graduated from the walker to crutches at his insistence. His nurse told him when he was leaving the hospital that he could use crutches if they were more comfortable for him. Given that he is MUCH MORE experienced with crutches from when he was growing up, he opted to do that. He was the kid who was on intimate terms with the techs in the cast clinic at Kaiser. You know you've been there a lot when you see one of the techs in the grocery store and he knows you by name! LOL
The Jennifers and I got our Christmas cards finished yesterday. We have so much fun while we are working on them.
I need to clean out the laundry room to get ready for the new H/vac that is going in on Tuesday. I have two units in my house because we made so many remodels that doubled the size of our house and the original one didn't cool the whole house. My Hubby did not like the heat and wanted icicles to be forming before he was comfortable so we had a small unit installed on the opposite side of the house. Well, it's about 25+ years old and I had it inspected last week. They found a crack on the inside heater part that could leak carbon monoxide. So, I am getting it replaced to the tune of $8,000+. Not what I wanted to do right before Christmas, but it is necessary.
Caught up on comments. So know that I read about sons and hubbies and cards and furnaces. I'm just still so dang tired. Woke up early this morning around 5ish, watched some tv and then went back to sleep around 7. Finally got up around 8:30 I think. I dont even remember anymore. Then I kept falling asleep trying to watch a movie. I think I also fell asleep in the tub. Robert hates that because he thinks I'm going to drown. Well there is not very places I can go in that tub, and I cant exactly roll over! I hope all you lovely ladies had a great day :-)
BARB - Better safe than sorry when you are dealing with HVAC! Made me laugh when you said Dean graduated from a walker to crutches, but good for him!! Looks like I will finally get the pic I want on Thanksgiving. Sam only has to work til 1, so she's able to come to dinner at my in-laws! Hoping to get my card made this weekend!
Yesterday I was hoping to see James before he headed to NYC for the parade. They were meeting in Madison to catch the bus. Mother Nature had other plans. The rain turned to snow at about 9:30 in the morning and the roads were crap!!! So thankful that I only have 6 blocks to drive this morning!
Barbara in CoviaWA About 10 years ago I got a new bathtub and thought it would be nice to soak in it as I hadn't done that in a long time. Well, I had such trouble getting back out of the damn thing that I sure didn't find it relaxing at all! LOL I'm sticking with showers. Of course, my bathtub is just standard size. If I recall correctly, you have something a bit larger that allows you some room to maneuver.
HOdi I hope you're able to get your family corralled for a group photo. I have one holiday pic where we all posed for a group shot. I wish we would have done that more often over the years.
Dianne Where are you? Are you making new tassels to wear during your Bronco games? It looks like I will be staying home this year on Thanksgiving and just cooking a turkey breast for myself alone with the usual trimmings. This is fine with me as it will be easy and stress free. I could go to my son's as he is smoking a turkey but I just don't feel like making the nearly 2 hour drive just to get full and sleepy on turkey then have to make the drive back. Is that bad of me? My daughter and her beau are celebrating with her friend's family. I expect to see her sometime during the day as she is traveling to this side of the SF Bay. We've been trying to coordinate how we are all going to spend Christmas together. At least my son will have his kids for both Xmas Eve and Xmas Day this year so logistics will be a little easier than in other recent years.
J/L, Well, you're moving right along with your cards. How many do you have to send? I made a few kids cards today for nieces and nephews. They get such a kick out of getting their own cards and since I don't have that many, I get a kick out of making them.
Mary I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. It sounds like you are putting out a huge spread. I know it will be delicious. I wish I could have one of your enchiladas. Maybe someday......
Happy Thanksgiving to all the HOoters. I hope you all have a great day whether you are cooking the meal or someone else is cooking. I am going to Dean's, but I am bringing my sausage stuffing. Dean doesn't like the stuffing his wife makes. It's all about what you grew up eating. The other two boys also make my stuffing in addition to whatever anyone else makes. Traditions must be kept!

Haha! In some respects, I already am a bear!
Dianne Thanks for the blog today.

We know some people who are bears and they have none of those traits, but they are not females either! LOL
Mary, the older I get, the less I have to shave my legs. Too bad I have no one else to appreciate it!
Dianne, that second comment from me was for you! Loved this blog.

Waving a wing at SLIN and MARY!

Best get prettied up for work. I get done at 11 am today. Jake has his post-op appt with his surgeon. He also has pt later this afternoon.
Happy Friday HOoters ♥

Thanks Jodi.
I just read what I typed last night and I guess I was tired - I meant to write "I TEXTED (is that even a word?) Dean..."
Barb I'm so glad that Dean's surgery went well. LOL @ not being easy to be a Raiders fan. No wonder you got an alert when they won! I'm surprised it wasn't "Breaking News" on the TV. ;)
Mary I don't think I've every shaved my legs that frequently in my whole life. Well, maybe as a teen during the summer months in Southern California.
HOdi Can someone record the parade for you in case you get off work too late to see your nephew march?
Barbara in COviaWA Are you in the snow today? I don't think I'd be able to cope living in a place where it snows.
My doctor and I came to an agreement about my bone density situation which is regarded as "mildly low". Did I tell you that? SLIN - Thanks! I think it just means he can fend for himself. Lol!
BARB - Thanks! How is Dean doing?

Barb You are so organized! I did receive the cards I ordered and have actually addressed (drum roll, please) two of them. LOL
Barb2 I meant to add that I'm sorry about your unexpected expense. Like you said, though, it's necessary.
J/L, Now that I've got them made, we'll see how early I get them out! Giving you a drum roll for getting two of your cards addressed! ;) ;)

Jodi, Dean is using crutches because only 'old' people use walkers, plus it was hurting his forearms, he said. LOL
Barb I send out 60-64 cards each year.
I can totally understand why Dean would want to move on from the walker ASAP.
Making a quick fly-by wishing all my owl peeps a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!!!
Sorry I have been MIA. Things should calm down after tomorrow :)
Love every one of you!! "Gobble Gobble"
Mary I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. It sounds like you are putting out a huge spread. I know it will be delicious. I wish I could have one of your enchiladas. Maybe someday......

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful every day that you are in my life. Love u ♥
