- After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, "Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 23-year-old girl.
- Now .... I have a $750,000 home, a $45,000 car, a nice big bed and a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 73-year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things."
- My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.
- Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve an old guy's problems!

Dianne Yep, that about sums it up. Thanks for the blog today.
Hey! You all left me alone all day!
Hi J/L, I have been playing nurse today. Dean needed to get some groceries and get an RX filled. He is doing pretty well and gets his staples out tomorrow. He even walks very short distances (like to the bathroom) without his crutches.
Jodi, How is the Boy doing? I assume he is back in school.
Hi....hello to Nurse Barb. Are you wearing your nurses outfit too? Glad you son is doing well. As we know, it's a slow recovery.
JL..we won't leave you alone today. Sounds like you California gals are having some bad weather. Hope the rain lets up some to stop the destruction.
Had a very nice lunch with Barb in Co yesterday. She drove the long way out here from her new house. I'm anxious to see her house soon.
Went to the theater tonight but saw a show at the little theater next to the main one. It was a spoof on Broadway shows with singing and comedy. It is was cute. Went out for my bday dinner tonight before the show and Barb took me for my bday yesterday. This has been a long celebration. I think I'm about done.
Got my cards in the mail...ahhh. Feels good. Now if I can just get my granddaughters over here to wrap. I'm just about done shopping. Thank goodness for online.
Well, that's about it for me.
DIANNE - Thanks for the blog. Funny!!!
SLIN - Sorry to keep you hanging pretty lady. Long day yesterday. We had our Year End Meeting in Madison. Still amazes me after all these years the commitment the Zietlow Family has to it's co-workers. They are very committed to keeping it a family owned business AND to continue in sharing 40% of the profits with it's co-workers. I've never missed one. I love it!!! After getting back to the store after noon, I then had to work til 6:30 last night. Spent my first couple of hours saving Milissa's ass. I took the deposit to the bank and it was $30 short (this was my first sign). So I did what we typically do. I had them give me $30 less in 10's and made the deposit right. After getting back to the store, I dug into the shift tapes. The deposit would've been correct less the $30, but she didn't even fix the shift tapes to know it. And by the time I found her error, it was too late for the bank to give me the money back. I'm sorry, but she's the one getting paid the big money. And she was boasting that she cooked and did books yesterday morning. Ha!!! Not well I might add ;)
BARB - Jake is doing great!! He's been back to school almost 3 weeks. His pt is going well. He can bend his knee over 120 degrees. We just have to get him caught up on his school work. They have 2 weeks left until winter break. This is our goal before then.
DIANNE - Good grief woman!! You celebrate more than I do! And you deserve it. Still haven't gotten that picture I want for our cards. Very frustrated. And haven't bought one gift yet.
Barb Good morning! I'm glad to hear that Dean is doing well. They never get too old for some TLC and help from Mom.
Dianne You have been celebrating your birthday for a long time. Lucky you! The show you went to see sounds really cute. I'm still working on addressing my cards and I haven't bought any gifts except for a few stocking stuffer type things. Tick tock, tick tock, time is flying by.
HOdi So far, it seems to me that Milissa isn't that good at her job. It sounds like you work for a good company, though.
Jumping in to say that I hope everyone is having a great day.
Robert is throwing his office Holiday Party here today. Ugh.....This is not my thing. 40 people here, and I have only met a handful of them. It's being catered, so I don't have to do any cooking or anything, but I don't like being the odd man out. I know everything will be fine, and it will be a great time, but I'm not good at the whole meet & greet stuff :-(
Dianne.....I got your Christmas card. So pretty....and my first one! I also hung my new house ornament on the big tree :-) Thank You again!
Barbara in COviaWA I completely understand where you're coming from. I don't like being the only one who doesn't know anyone, either. I tend to get quiet in groups, anyway, That's great that it's being catered. That means they do the clean up, too, right? I bet you have a better time tonight than you think you will.
Barb in Co..As I told you yesterday...don't think you can get drunk in your own house and go to bed. Embarrassing for Robert!!! Hope it was fun. I'll bet the food was yummy from that place.
JL...you'd better get going on that shopping especially if you are doing any online. That is the easiest way. So many places are offering free shipping too.
I'm irritated with Louis right now. I wanted to bring a hostess gift to the party tomorrow night of either Baileys or kaluha (I don't know how to spell it) as they have a new bar. Louis called and asked them what they wanted and told them we were bringing a present. He said I didn't tell him it was a secret. I thought the word "present" might give him a clue. Grr. I'm not getting married again so remind me!!
Dianne Well, now Louis knows better. I'm sure the friends will appreciate the gift anyway. It will give you something to laugh about later, especially, if you and the hostess are good friends. You can laugh about how clueless men can be.
Dianne2 I almost forgot to thank you for the pretty card that arrived today. I'm still working on mine. I guess I better hurry up.
Hello gals!
JL, I'm here! LOL! I have gotten half of my shopping done. I had to, they have to be sent to Texas, Tennessee,Montana and Georgia! I did most online. Still waiting on a couple of items.
Dianne, geesh, I would have loved even one Birthday celebration lol! Lucky you going to theater shows! I would be sitting right next to you if I lived near by! BTW, cute blog!
Barb in CO/WA, I like going to parties, but not hosting! The people in your picks look so young! That would freak me out lol! I am sure they had a good time. Yay for caterers!!
SacBarb, you are such a good nurse/Mom! Sounds like he is progressing well!
Jodi, ger-r-r-r! I feel your pain! She gets the glory and you get the headache! Good thing you are on your toes and a smarty pants lol!
I saw my Dr today. He has given me some prescrip. meds and wants me to get my neck area x-rayed. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of the pain.
Mary I just purchased my first gift....online. LOL
Dianne, I love your Christmas card. Thanks. I am working on mine today.
J/L,
Well, I don't know how that happened. My iPad is acting wonky. Anyway, what I was going to say is the ground here has finally soaked up all the water. We are expecting more rain on Monday.
Mary, I hope the X-rays help the doc diagnose the reason for your pain and fix it.
The meds my Dr gave haven't kicked in yet and they are giving me a slight headache.I will hang in there!
We got our real tree today. I didn't have to go far, maybe 50ft. lol! Our neighbors are tree farmers and said we could have one free. The are the ones that plow us out when we get hit hard with snow. I just went online and ordered some treats to be sent to them.
My son Matthew put all of our outdoor Christmas lights up. They need a little snow to finish the look lol! Every thing is green again.
Our new neighbor that bought our old neighbor Jim's house came over to introduce himself. His name is Jim too lol! He is single and in his 30s. Very sweet young man.
Well, I going to take the last set of meds and get to bed.
Have a great Sunday all!!
Mary It sounds like you are all set for the holidays. I did get my Christmas cards done last night but that's about it. I'm serious considering getting a fake tree as it seems such a bother anymore to go buy a fresh one and lug it into the house and raise it high enough to set it down into my tree stand. Actually, the more I think about it, the better a fake tree is sounding to me. My return to exercising at Curves has really bothered my healing arm. It isn't hurting up by the ball joint where I broke it, but all the tendons and muscles going down my arm were affected, too, and I've strained them badly on one of the exercise machines.
Barb Once again, I failed to take my laundry (sheets) out of the dryer so I set it on "de-wrinkle", a setting I use a lot. Anyway, once that was done I opened the dryer door and......empty! I had never moved the sheets from the washer to the dryer! So now, not only do I occasionally wash water, I also now dry air.
JL, I LMAO!! You are not the only one that does that! I have never washed "nothing", but have dried "nothing"! My biggest boo boo is forgetting to put in dryer and not realizing it until bedtime! I have extra sheets, but hate making the bed when I want to crawl in it lol!!
I have my cards addressed, not stamped, and not signed. In other words, I have to get my rear in gear!
I need to buy a few more gifts. Jim is the hardest to get. I am easy, I buy what I want, he gives me the money and I wrap lol!!!
Mary Then Jim never gives you something that you don't like. Good plan. LOL
J/L, LOL I have washed only water many times, but I have never dried air. I guess that's something I can look forward to. I did wash a load of clothes today and forgot all about them and they are still sitting in the washer. I want to go to bed now and I won't leave the dryer on if I am going to sleep, so I'll just leave them in the washer and hope I remember to put them in the dryer tomorrow in time to dry before I have to take Dean to the doctor at 1:00. Wish me luck!
Mary, Why don't you have Jim buy his own present like you do? My Hubby was very hard to buy for and very seldom was I really able to surprise him. I often ended up getting him clothes because he hated to go clothes shopping.
Barb My sheets are still in the dryer. I guess they'll get "de-wrinkled" tomorrow. LOL
J/L, I got my clothes dried before I had to leave the house. Yayyy. I did so well, I think I'll wash another load tonight! LOL
SacBarb, The problemis that he doesn't need anything! He buys what he wants and has everything but a blow up doll....hmmmmm? LOL!!!
I had a bunch of ex-rays on my back today. I'll find out Wed. how they looked. The pills are not doing a thing but keeping me awake at night. I have 3 more days of taking them. They make me feel icky too! I hate taking meds! Motrin worked better for me, but I was told by Dr to NOT take them while on these meds.
I have most of my cards ready to mail tomorrow. As usual I may have missed some and sent doubles to others lol!! I use my label writer to save my fingers, but sometimes forget to check off names oye vey!
Night all!
BTW, what is this "capta" thingy? It says "type this text", well there is no text! Oh well it is letting me post so bleck lol!
Barb I actually got my sheets out of the dryer today, folded, and put away. Yay!
Mary I'm sorry the meds aren't helping you. I hope the x-rays give you some answers. LOL @ blow up doll!
I actually got my cards in the mail today. Yay! I think I've decided not to get a tree this year. We are celebrating at my daughter's so don't really need one just for me, although I do enjoy them. With my arm being less than 100%, I think it would be too difficult to deal with getting a tree up. Besides the actual fractures, I really strained some muscles and tendons which are currently acting up due to exercising and hoisting around heavy things. Anyway, I did decorate a wreath and have it on the door. I have a lighted garland across the mantel and various Christmas decorations around the living room. I think that will probably do for this year.
BARB IN COviaWA - Sounds like you survived the party! Everything looked so good!
SLIN - I work for an awesome company. This is why I've stayed there 13 1/2 years. I have told every one of my store leaders that they are stuck with me ;) We actually had a good day yesterday. I did books and after I was done with work Milissa and I went Christmas shopping to help out 2 co-workers in our store. Did my heart good. We ended up getting everything we needed with the money we had (that had been donated....part of our Family's Helping Family's campaign).
MARY - Sorry the meds aren't working for you! I also hope they find some answers. Love u lady ♥
BARB - That is what I usually get Paul, too! One more lumberjack shirt to add to the pile. Oh, and the requisite holiday underwear!!! lol!!
DIANNE - Sorry about your fender bender yesterday. I'm glad you weren't hurt (other than your pride)!! Congrats on the Broncos win Sunday! Packers pulled off an awesome win last night, too! Not so much for the Badgers on Saturday night. Down right embarrassing losing 59-0 to Ohio State. I have no idea what happened. Looks like we are playing in the Outback Bowl on Jan 1st against Auburn. I hope we show up that day ;)
TINA - I'm not a robot!! Just sayin'!! ;)
Best get prettied up for work.
Have a great day HOoters ♥
HOdi That's great that you were able to go shopping to help out another family. It is also great that it's a good thing that you and Milissa could do together. I guess it's a good thing that you did the books and not her. Otherwise, you would have been stuck at work figuring out where the mistakes were. LOL
SLIN - I made her promise me to never do books again!!! lol!!
Good morning, HOoters! Today I will go get my hair done then go to the gross-ry store for a few things. It's time to batten down the hatches as a storm is expected to hit tonight. I think I may make beef stew tonight. It sounds like it would hit the spot.
SLIN - I have red potatoes, carrots and a lovely roast beef in the slow cooker. And a pumpkin pie ready for dessert! Stay safe tonight pretty lady!
HOdi Well, I got home too late to make the stew tonight but I do have all the fixings so will make it tomorrow and stay home, dry and cozy, during the storm.
Hi gals! I was gone all day making a bigger dent in my Christmas list.
I am almost done :)
I am so happy that we have had clear roads and sunny days! I hope you gals in Cali will be safe with that storm coming.
I guess Karina is getting pounded by snow in Ithaca NY. Ugh!
Stew sounds so good!! I may have to fire up the crock pot tomorrow or make the potato casserole recipe Dianne put on FB. Comfort food :P
J/L. I had my hair done today, too, and I stopped at the gross-ery store to stock up and also buy stuff for Sunday dinner. It's Dean's birthday and he requested that I make lemon chicken. I still need to get his gift. When he turned 16, and was required to have a fishing license, his Dad always got it for him for his birthday and I have continued that tradition. The first license we bought was about $15. Last year it was $76. I have no idea what it will be this year.
Mary, Let us know how that potato casserole turns out. I hope you're feeling better.
J/L2, I forgot to say thanks for the pretty card. I still haven't mailed mine. I have them about half addressed, and even if I finish them tonight, I don't want to go out tomorrow or Friday to mail them. So maybe Saturday!
Dianne, Thanks for the Christmas card. You will get one from me soon.
Hi..Mary, I thought that potato thing looked easy and yummy ..not that I'll make it. We are taking my uncle and wife out for Chinese tomorrow night.
I'm about done with all my shopping. Kids are spending night (shock) with us Saturday night and wrapping for me then and Sunday ..for money, of course. It's worth it.
You CA gals stay in and warm BUT please don't send us that weather. It sounds like it will be arriving in the form of snow on Sunday. I'm enjoying our dry 60 degree weather.
Jodi, yes my pride was hurt. I just felt so careless hitting someone when I just didn't even look. Hope my kids don't take my keys away. Lol. Nice that you were able to help two families for the holidays
Mary, I hope you are feeling better. Hard doing everything during the holidays when you don't feel great.
Had a nice dinner with my oldest granddaughter last night. The other one and mom were home sick. I like taking one of them at a time. We have state cheerleading competition this Saturday to go. Very exciting and very long.
Hi Barb...think we were tying at the same time. It feels good to get those cards out early to me. Otherwise, I have it hanging over me every day. I'll be glad when the wrapping is done but packages keep arriving every day. Every once in awhile, it's even for me. I can resist the good sales. Ho ho. Merry Christmas to me. ..secretly.
SLIN - I have plenty of leftovers to make a "stew" tomorrow!! Stay safe and cozy in that crazy weather ♥
MARY - Loving the drier, warmer weather here, too!! Gonna hit almost 50* here this weekend!
BARB - You are all still ahead of me. Still haven't gotten that pic taken of the family. GRRR!!!
DIANNE - I'm just glad you're ok. Have fun at the cheer leading competition!! No one has given me any ideas, so I just keep getting stuff for myself. Ha!!!
