~ Happens More Often Than You Think ~

(I am closing the ticket counter for the night. Our airline believes very strongly on flights leaving on time, and as such have a strict 30 minute cutoff policy. Anyone arriving at less than 30 minutes to departure will not be allowed to check in. It is 27 minutes to the last flight’s departure, and a man comes running to the counter, where my coworker and her trainee are still at an open computer.)

Passenger: “I need to check in for this flight!”

Coworker: “I am really sorry, sir, but unfortunately you are too late to make your flight. I will be glad to rebook you for a flight tomorrow. May I see your ID?”

Passenger: “What do you mean I’m too late? The flight doesn’t leave until 9 pm!”

Trainee: “Yes sir, but we have a 30 minute cutoff for check in, and it’s 8:33 pm.”

Passenger: “It’s only three minutes!”

Trainee: “Yes sir, but you still have to get through security. We want the other 131 passengers on the plane to leave on time.”

Coworker: “I’m very sorry, sir, but it is too late. Like I said, I would be glad to book you on a different flight tomorrow.”

Passenger: “Your airline is stupid! I got your stupid credit card because I thought you would respect loyalty! It’s the last flight of the night and I’m going to be f****** stuck here until tomorrow!”

(The passenger continues to get increasingly angry and starts yelling obscenities. Everyone around, including the employees of airlines next to us, are staring. He is waving the credit card around.)

Passenger: “Fine! Rebook me for tomorrow! And give me that stapler!”

(My coworker hands him the stapler. The passenger uses the stapler to split the credit card in half, then throws the pieces at my coworker.)

Passenger: “I will never fly your airline again!”

Coworker: “Sir, I have been trying to help you, but I won’t take this kind of abuse. Now, if you want me to continue, I will need you to stop. Also, I would like to inform you that your flight was actually for tomorrow.”

Passenger: *suddenly quiet* “Oh. My wife was supposed to call and change that.”

Coworker: “Well, she didn’t. Do you still want me to rebook you?”

Passenger: “Never mind. I’ll just call.” *leaves*

Trainee: “Wow.”

  3. From Area 51:

DIANNE - Yes, Sam is keeping her job as Manager of the Floral Dept. They decided that even though she is doing the same thing, it's not a conflict of interest. She just can't advertise her other business or mention it to her customers at the grocery store.

  4. SLIN - Forgot to compliment you on being prettiest today ♥

  5. I got stuck spending the night in Dallas because I got to the gate one minute too late. My flight from New York was delayed due to weather and even though my luggage made it on the connecting flight, I did not! I tried a little begging, but of course it was useless. At least I didn't have the wrong day! Thanks for the reminder, Tina! 😏

  6. Jodi, it's always a good feeling when you know you aren't on the s#!t list when you go into a meeting. LOL

  7. J/L, congrats on being first today.

  8. Barb Remember when we missed our flight even though we were sitting right there in the same area as the gate? LOL I still can't believe we did that.

  9. HOdi I agree with Barb. It's always good to know you aren't one of the ones on the s#!t list. I hope things get back to normal for you now that Melissa is back.

  10. Hi guys. How embarrassing that guy must have felt after making such a scene. I'll bet he and his wife had a "nice" chat. Must be a dream to be married to!'

JL...u look so extra lovely at first today. Thanks for letting us know there was a new blog. I remember when you and Barb missed your flight.

Jodi, that will be good that Sam will have two jobs doing what she seems to like a lot. How did the meeting go?

Mary, has your weather gotten better? I hope so. So sad about your nail place. Hope you every one is okay.

I'm not started packing yet. It's on my "to do" list.

  11. Barb, I forgot to say howdy to you. How are you feeling? Are you able to get out at all?

  12. Dianne, I was feeling a little better yesterday and today. My back hurts, but my leg hasn't hurt as much these past two days. Tomorrow I have to go to the lab for another blood letting and Friday is my new pre-op, so I will at least get out for those little trips. It's been really hot here, so I don't mind staying inside with the a/c.

  13. J/L, I do remember when we missed our flight. We whined a little, too. Then we got on that flight where the male flight attendant wouldn't put our carry-on in the overhead for us. He was a real grouch.

  14. Dianne I'm up early because I have a handyman who is supposed to arrive at 8:00 to work on one outside wall of my house. That's his starting time, not mine. LOL Anyway, when we did have rain with heavy winds, it hits that side of the house and I discovered that rain was getting through between the siding, going down the inside of the wall, and puddling under the baseboard in the back bedroom. Ruined the baseboard and some of the flooring. Ugh! I'm awake but that's about all I can say for myself. I guess I should go dressed, at least, instead of being in my robe.

  15. HOdi It sounds like all your kids are hard workers like their mom. That's nice that Sam has found a creative nitch that she's good at and is getting paid well for. What a win/win that is! I'm sorry that Sunday was hard for you. I hope you are feeling better now and are your usual chipper self.

  16. Barb I guess that crappy flight attendant didn't want to end up with a bad back like we have. LOL

  18. J/L, maybe that was a more apt description than the one I wrote. LOL

  19. Hi....Well, I gained two dang pounds this week. I wanted to start this vacation with a loss. If I could only give up the soda, I would be skinny.
It's a sad day, as my 62 year old Denver cousin has just been given a couple of days to live. He started throwing up eight weeks ago out of the blue, and has been in ICU ever since. He has pancrea issues and now his organs are shutting down. Their mom just passed away about six months ago...he was her care taker. Just so young. He's a single man with two siblings. Sad.

Barb, I'm so glad you are feeling better the last couple of days. I'll bet this has been a long wait for you. I sure hope everything checks out good on Friday. How are you feeling with the pacemaker? Any different? I'll be thinking of you.

JL, wow you are up early. We have a guy coming tomorrow between 10-7 to install two new kitchen sinks. He has to cut some of the counter so it will take a few hours. I hope he remembers to show up as the appointment was made a while ago. Louis will be up waiting for him. I think you'd better change out of that lace teddy before your "handyman" shows up girlie!! I have hair appt tomorrow but not until 2. I may try and do/start some packing before I go.

Jodi, JL nailed it ...your kids are hard workers just like you. You have set a great example.

Our weather turned nasty when I was driving home at rush hour....hard rain, hail, thunder, floods, tornados, to name a few. It is as scary driving. I beat most of the hail but boy were those skies dark.

  21. BARB & SLIN - The only problem with the meeting, was that the one that is on said list never thinks its about him. Ugh!!!

  22. DIANNE - Sorry about your cousin. Sending prayers for your family 💛 A friend from high school posted a video of some very suspicious cloud activity yesterday. Looked like funnel clouds to me. Scary as shit driving in that crap!

  23. Thanks for the compliment on the kids. Paul and I both try to set a good example.

  24. Dianne, I am feeling better with the pacemaker. I had zero energy for quite a while and it was because My blood wasn't getting to where it was supposed to go. So I have some energy now, but I can't do too much at a time because of my back. I spoke to a friend who had the same back surgery about a year ago and she wasn't allowed to drive for three months. That's a long damn time. Chad will be here for about a month but after that I will be stuck at home, mostly. Don't like bothering people when I need something, like a ride. Everyone I know is so busy and my sister and I had a big argument and we aren't speaking. I don't like to ask her to help me anyway. I need to hire a hunky guy to drive me around.

  25. J/L, did your handyman get there on time? I hate when they make an early appointment and show late or not at all.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jodi, maybe it's time for your manager to have a little private talk with that guy. She is not doing him any favors by not addressing problems directly with him.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dianne That is so sad about your cousin. Were you close?

I'm up early again today as the handyman is coming back again. Yes, he was on time. Here early, actually, and I spotted him sitting outside in his truck waiting until the appointed time so I waved him on in. He's working on the outside of the house but I wanted my dog to make sure she knew he was an invited guest on my property. Not that I think she would ever bite anyone, but she does worry when things are not "normal". The other night I was walking her out front in the dark so she could pee one last time before bed, and she jumped when a dandelion touched her foot. LOL

  28. HOdi I hope things have settled down for you at work now that Melissa is back. You've been working there a long time now. Do you have your favorite customers?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Barb I'm so glad you are feeling better with the pacemaker. I wish I lived closer so I could drive you around. If I didn't have this dog, I could come stay with you a while and help you out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Barb, darn..I would be glad to drive you around or get your groceries, etc. we'd make quite a pair...me driving a cart and you driving a cart.!!
I wonder if you can drive that. Lol.

JL..it's a first cousin but I'm not too close to him. I am to his brother and sister but he's always been a loner. He was a drinker and they had told him to stop. It makes me so sad to see someone have a chance and not take it. I guess that doesn't matter now but it's been on my mind. It's very hard for the two siblings after just losing their mother.

Jodi..You and Paul are good parents and it shows. I think Melissa should talk to that guy too. What about a review?

We are waiting for our sink guy to come. He just called and will be here in a half an hour. I hope it doesn't take all day. I will be glad to finally be done with all this stainless steel remodeling ...now I need to figure out how to work everything. I'm limping along with the washer, dryer and microwave (the washer and dryer are white). I'll probably never learn the stove except I offered to have a Bronco party in September and txt will involve cooking, I think. I don't know what came over me.

    Mary, what's up,girl?

  31. Here I am! I have been busy as usual.
I feel so bad for our little town. So much damage! I bet my little Asian nail salon gals were petrified when their place was hit! The place next to it is where I recently had a painting canvas mounted. I bought it in Paris in 2008 and had it rolled up and forgot about it. They did a great job. They have a lot of expensive equipment in there! They are boarded up too. We lost 4 churches and over 50 homes were hit. It's a miracle no one was hurt or worse! A couple were upstairs in their apartment when their roof blue off and the had to hang on for dear life! A friend of ours saw his Mustang fly across the street and parts landed on his Cadillac! 2 cars gone geesh!

Jodi, I remember holding down 2 jobs when I was younger, and working long hours! It would kill me now lol! You work pretty hard yourself woman!

Barb and Dianne. Maybe some day we will all be riding around on scooters lol!

Dianne I have stainless steel stove, dish washer and microwave. My frig is cream colored and still in good shape so not replacing that for a while. It is tucked into the wall, so it looks ok. I have a feeling my washing machine is going to conk out on me! It is getting louder and louder on the spin cycle because of the bearings wearing out. It would be expensive to fix them, so will just suck it up and buy new :(

JL, I hope your handyman shows up. I am glad my son lives with us,he does a lot of maintenance for us!
I am heading to town to pick up a few things. later......

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nary My handyman showed up right on time. It is quite a project he is working on on one outside wall of my house. Today he built a scaffold so he'd be able to reach the highest parts while on his ladder. I'm sure glad he's "handy". LOL

I feel bad for the people in your little town. I'm so glad there were no serious injuries. What a miracle that is!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dianne That must have been a weak moment for you to volunteer to host the Bronco party. Are you working on your menu? It's mostly snacks and stuff easy to eat in front of the TV, isn't it? You'll do fine. How many people will there be? Plenty of things you can make ahead of time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi..had a nice long lunch with BARBARA from Co. Told me all about her Nashville trip and things to do and where to eat. She's quite the traveler. It was fu. To see her again.

Well, I'm almost packed. I still want to do a small load of wash. I'm about 3/4 packed. I'm so slow.

JL, when we have a Bronco party, we do snacks and kind of a main thing plus everyone brings a snack. My game is a morning game so it makes it easier for a breakfast casserole. There will be about 12-14 people. I kind of want to show off my new stainless steel appliances and sinks.

We had the car windows tinted today to see if that will help with the heat especially on this trip. Barb said she was really hot in Nashville and that was a month ago. I am not looking forward to that part.

Guess I'd better get back working. I wanted to get to bed at a decent time tonight.
