Lonely Widow

by Dianne

A lonely widow, age 70, decided that it was time to get married again. She put an ad in the local paper that read:

“HUSBAND WANTED: MUST BE IN MY AGE GROUP (70's), MUST NOT BEAT ME, RUN AROUND ON ME, AND MUST STILL BE GOOD IN BED! ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE APPLY IN PERSON.”

On the second day, she heard the doorbell. Much to her dismay, she opened the door to see a gray-haired gentleman sitting in a wheelchair. He had no arms or legs.

The old woman said, "You're not really asking me to consider you, are you? Just look at you . . . you have no legs!"

The old man smiled, "Therefore, I cannot run around on you!" She snorted.

"You don't have any arms either!"

Again, the old man smiled, "Therefore, I can never beat you!"

She raised an eyebrow and asked intently, "Are you still good in bed???"

The old man leaned back, beamed a big smile and said,  "I rang the doorbell, didn't I?"

  1. Dianne Thanks for the blog today.

I'm so glad you had good news from your doctor. I know you feel relieved to have that worry off your mind.

The heat in SoCal was really hard for me to deal with. Yesterday morning I had to rub it in by sending my brother a text saying that it was raining lightly here, temp was 59* and I had turned on the heater. This was at 10:30 a.m. He texted back that it was 80* there and expected to be 94* in the afternoon. At least that was slightly better than most of the days when I was there.

  2. Barb My brother walks for miles, too, even though he has bad knees. He likes to walk on the mountain trails at around 4 in the morning or so and then tells stories of seeing deer, bear, mountain lions, etc. Usually, he sees eyes shining in the darkness before he figures out what animal it is. Unless it's a bear moving around. That he hears first as they are not light footed. He seems to think it's safe enough to do this. He's been doing it for years. He has had knee surgeries but will need knee replacements at some point.

  3. HOdi I'm sorry that the drama continues at work. I'm having an issue with the post office and how they do (or don't do) their job. For the second time this year, I put in a Hold Mail Request while I was away and for the second time it was not honored. The first time was in June and not so bad as it was only for a few days of mail. This time, I was gone for a week and a half so that's a lot of mail. It was fortunate that my daughter came by the house on Saturday and saw all the mail bulging out of the mail slot in the garage door and she brought the mail into the house. So yesterday, I went to the post office to complain and they said it was because my regular mail carrier was on vacation so there was a substitute carrier from out of town. What? So you can have your mail held but not if your carrier is on vacation? I thought that was one of the stupidest things I had heard since watching the Republican debates. Anyway, I have filed complaints about it.

  4. Mary I still only have one bathroom but I don't have a large family. It must have really been tough when someone was sick. :(

I know it isn't really funny but it still sounds a little weird that your regular nail place was hit by a tornado. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dianne, That was LMAO funny! Glad your lung doc gave you good news. I like George but I don't think I wold pay that much to see him!

    ReplyDelete
  6. J/L, That's terrible about the PO not holding your mail! I have never had a problem with my mail hold requests (knock on wood - I don't want to jinx it). Are you supposed to call and ask if your carrier is going to be on vacation before you submit a request? There is something seriously wrong with their system!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mary, Maybe you can meet Dianne in Vegas to see George!

  8. Hi Jodi. I hope you are rested and things are going better at work.

  9. Dianne,I am thinking this gentleman may have had a long...nose lol!
What show are you going to, date wise?

SacBarb, It would be fun to meet up with her, but Vegas is a big place lol!

JL, my brother also likes to hike/walk in the mountains. He lives in Santa Fe.I worry about his running into snakes!

I bought a new turlett today. It is oblong and higher. Maybe the men will have better aim now lol!! My feet may dangle though!

  10. So sad about that shooting in Roseburg, OR. Alek, one of the heros that took down the guy on the train in France goes to that school, but he wasn't there because he is doing Dancing With The Stars. He was on Ellen today.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Barb It is so tragic for the families of the victims and even for the family of the shooter. Tragic for our country that we have become a nation of guns and that we are accepting the fact that mass shootings are a way of life here.

    ReplyDelete
  12. J/L, There have been 42 mass shootings this year alone and it is true that we have become numb to the horror if it. I listened to the President today who talked about how important it is to vote and if a candidate is for everything you are in favor of except gun control, to vote against him/her. He stressed how important it is to get the gun laws under control.

  13. Hi, HOoters What's everyone up to? It's cool with gusts of winds here today. It is feeling like fall for real. I'm on a time crunch to get my new front door installed and get the house painted before real winter storms arrive. The install is scheduled for Oct. 12 and I have yet to get estimates on house painting. I guess I should get on that on Monday. Maybe they can do some of the prep work before the door goes in. I got my flights to go back to SoCal on Nov. 4 and will be there until the evening of the 10th. My 50 year high school reunion is on the 7th. Not wildly excited about it. I wish I looked better but it is what it is.

It's nice to have my dog home with me. I picked her up from my daughter's on Thursday. It is about an hour and 10 minutes away from me. Coming home the traffic on the freeway through San Francisco was horrendous. I'm glad I don't have to commute everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  14. J/L, You will not be sorry you went to your 50th reunion. And you are beautiful so don't worry about it! I'm sorry I didn't go to my 50th. I talked to some of the people that went and they had a great time, plus most of the people there looked a lot like me - overweight!

    ReplyDelete
  15. JL, u will be glad u went to the reunion. Remember last year when I went to mine and you all encouraged me? Overweight and can't walk very well but there were people there on canes and oxygen an no one danced when music came on. How many were in your class? It was worth going. I doubt we will have any more.

Tonight was our family party. I picked my cousins up this afternoon. My granddaughter got upset with my daughter near the end of the party and was very vocal...yelling and crying. Luckily my son and another couple were the only ones left except my cousins. I tried to calm Kayla down but it didn't work very well. I felt like Tammy was in the wrong. Kayla wanted to go over to her boyfriends. She'd been there all day with everyone. Emilee got to go with friends about half way thru party. I don't think em should have been able to leave. This gathering has been planned for months. I don't like scenes either. I quietly later told Tammy what I thought and she asked if I was going to start yelling at her too. Kayla and eventually was allowed to leave after she took her sister to a sleepover. Kayla helped clean all week for the company and Em did nothing. Kayla is the oldest and I don't think treated fairly sometimes. Otherwise, the party was a great success with a lot of people there that we hadn't seen for a long time. Thanks for listening to me vent. I'm upset right now.

Mary, we r going on December 3, 2016. My friend and her daughter r arranging the rest of it. I found out r tickets were $200 not $150. Oh well..happy birthday to me.

Our party had three one year old triplets there. They are part black and part white and adorable. The mom is a red head. These babies have beautiful skin and the longest eyelashes. The can even talk some sign language. I was impressed.

Jodi, how are things going? We r having a bronco party at Tammy's tomorrow. It's pizza time. Hope we win.

Barb, the shooting is so sad. Today they are saying the shooter killed himself...good. Too bad our movie shooter didn't do the same. Millions of dollars later and now he got 3000 year life sentence. I think the gun control rules are important but I think the other issues are too. I wouldn't vote for a person just for one thing I don't think. I'd have to think on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Barb I'm sure I will have a good time. I just have to get over my insecurities. I don't know why I should even care what anyone else thinks of me. They aren't part of my life anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dianne I'm sorry about the scene at your family party. Is Kayla the one that was disrespectful to you a while back and hurt your feelings? Teenagers are not easy. Maybe she's being that way to her mother sometimes and that's why mom is harder on her. No easy answers I guess but I do agree with you that since she helped clean all week, stayed thru the gathering, and sister got to leave, then she should have been allowed to also.

Wow, triplets! How fun is that? I don't have any twins or triplets in my family.

The gun violence is a complicated issue. I don't believe we should be selling assault weapons to the general public so a person can mow down a bunch of people in seconds for no other reason than they are unhappy with their life and can't get a girlfriend. I don't think a wacko should be able to walk into a gun show and walk out with a weapon with no background check whatsoever. We keep taking money away from schools and that's where these young minds are being formed. They learn socialization there, or used to, at least. There was art, drama, music, sports. It was a more well-rounded experience, not just books and tests. We need to start young so these young men don't feel so disconnected and hopeless and angry.

I am very adamant in my pro-choice stance. I don't believe anyone else has the right to tell a woman what to do concerning her own body. I would never vote for someone who didn't feel the same about that.

  18. Mary and HOdi Where for art thou?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi....no, Kayla is the one that is closest to me and takes care of me. Asks to fix me a plate at functions, brings me drinks, etc. I think the younger one runs the show and it's not right. I know I'm probably a little biased and Kayla is not an angel by any stretch but I think she tries harder than Em. I wish I could raise them for a month or two....they'd probably hate me.

I agree about assault weapons and for sure need background checks. I just hate seeing what's going on in our country. It's heart breaking.

Well, I'm about to get ready for the Bronco party. Yea Broncos!!! Everyone get their tassels on, please. I wonder what my cousins will think when I show up with no shirt and just tassels? Should be interesting.

I second the sound of "Mary and HOdi where for art thou?"

    ReplyDelete
  20. JLin, I am glad you are going to your reunion. I went to my first one last year. I was glad I did. I was thrilled to see my old class mates! Some thicker in the middle, some in wheel chairs, some who were jocks were hairless and even the "clicky" gals were downright nice lol! All in all it was a blast!

Dianne. I have my tassels on. I am sad to say they keep drooping more every year lol!

Last night we did the private dj/karaoke party. I may be getting to old to do them! I have no patience for people that come up to me and tell me how to run my stuff, when they no nothing about it! Some gal said that her singing hubby wanted more "reverb" to his microphone when he sang! Geesh, we're not a recording studio lol! The worst is the drunks! For some reason the women drunks are the worse. slobbering and wobbling all over the place!

I agree that assault rifles should be banned! I can think of no reason for anyone to own them! We have a gun club not far from our house. My dogs hate the mass firing! My hubby no longer hunts (lazy), but we still have a few guns/rifles in the house locked up. I asked him today to just sell them! We have small hand guns that we will always keep.

I8 don't believe in abortion, but believe each person has the right to chose.

That is as political as I am going to get lol!
I have no intentions of spouting hate either way . I am a big girl and will vote after I thoroughly check each candidate out. that is all :)

    Hodi, where are you??

    ReplyDelete
  21. When I am voting the background check for buying firearms and the womens' issues are deal breakers for me. I would not vote for anyone who is against either or both of those issues. There have been a couple of times when none of the candidates met that criteria and I didn't vote for anyone.

  22. Hi..went gambling with cousins today. I came home with what I took pluse about $80 extra. Tammy and one cousin won $200 and $500. It was a fun afternoon.

Darn MARY, I wanted your team to,neat Seattle tonight and you almost did!!

Tomorrow I'll be driving my family around town to reminisce then they leave Wednesday afternoon.

Not much else to report. Good bronco game.

    Where are you all todsy?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dianne Here I am! It sounds like you had some good luck at the casino. That's great! Why is it that when I win I always end up giving it back to the casino. LOL

Nothing much going on here. I spent yesterday taking care of paperwork and doing some housework. Not very exciting, that's for sure.

  24. Barb I was very impressed with Bindi's dance on DWTS and ended up calling in some votes for her. Thanks for giving me the number to do that. Bindi made me cry so I figure the least I could do was vote.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mary I never thought how annoying it would be to have a drunk trying to sing. Does the audience find that amusing? I guess it could be but it could also be extremely annoying. You need one of those giant hooks that comes from the side of the stage and snags them and drags them off. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mary, J/L is right. You need a gong and a big hook like they had on the Gong Show! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. J/L, I voted a few times for Bindi and Derek, too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dianne, good for you winning $80. I never win. That's why I don't like to gamble.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey Jodiiiii. Where are you????

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yay for winning Dianne!! Monday night's game was so bad at the end! Just shaking my head :(
Today was pretty busy. I put my old couch in the basement, took the futon that was there out and put it on a local selling website and sold it in 5 minutes. They picked it up right away. I love my new love seat! I picked the material and it goes good with my other furniture and curtains. Now I just need my bathroom floor done and my new turlet put in. Waiting on the flooring to come in.

JL, SacBarb, LOL, a hook would be funny! Sometimes I just turn off their microphone. They never know and ramble on. Kind of embarrassed for them. Sometimes they want me to sing with them...oye vey!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I loved Bindi too and she made me get choked up. I love when you hear their stories too. It was sad with the guy whose mother died so quickly of cancer. I haven't watched this show for a few seasons but enjoying it again. I feel bad for Paula as I think she tries hard.

Today was drive my cousins everywhere in the rain for my oldest one to show her daughter where she went to grade school and every other grade, her church, where she babysat.....you get the drift. Her daughter (in her 20's), was not too interested as her mom took pictures of everything. We do this every couple of years when she visits. We then went to Tammys in rush hour and then out to dinner.

Mary, that game was sad Monday night. There is a lot of controversary over it. I even heard the ref might get fined. Who knew you you can't bat a ball away but get fined for taunting!! Crazy

JL, it's your weather here right now and even in the 50's tonight. Actually, it's almost chilly ..Even to me.

Barb, I used to vote on all the shows but I don't anymore. I really don't watch much TV. I "almost" voted for Paula since I felt bad for her. I don't think she looks too good, do you? Her face is so thin.

Well, tomorrow is breakfast and then the airport. It's been a busy four days but fun. I'll miss my cousins a lot. They used to live here years ago but I still wish we lived closer.

    Jodi..what r u busy doing? Everything ok?

  32. Waving a wing from Wisconsin. And no, I'm really struggling. This change in season has hit me hard. Between the drama at work, Alex and Dustin's break-up, James' grandpa's death, and finding out a really good friend has cancer, I've literally have shut down. Trying to put on a brave front, but it's not working. Sorry to be "Debbie Downer", but this is my life right now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wishing you all a good week ♥

    ReplyDelete
  34. HOdi I'm so sorry for all you're going through right now. Hopefully your friend will get through this health scare with proper treatment. I will send prayers and white light and whatever else I can think of. You know you can always vent here or give me or someone else a call. Love you!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mary Sounds like you are spiffing up the joint. I desperately need to do that but other stuff keeps getting in the way. My new front door is to be installed Monday and I finally got someone out to put together an estimate on painting the exterior of the house. I haven't received the estimate yet as it will be sent via email. I'm sure I will go with them, though, as they've done a number of neighbor's houses and have done a really good job.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dianne I loved the pics of your family get-together. Those triplets sure are cute! Now that would sure keep you busy. Do they have any other kids?

I'm not a Paula fan. She sure has lost a lot of weight. That's the problem with weight loss when one is older; the skin kind of hangs. Are you FB friends with Joey Jennings? He posted a pic of he and Paul the other day. He does a lot of seat filling at various TV shows and I guess she was a guest on something he was at the other day.

    ReplyDelete
  37. JusLin, Going with referrals from neighbors is the way to go! So many scammers out there! We replaced our front door to a fiberglass one and had it painted beige. I would have preferred something brighter, but hubby wasn't impressed lol!
the next thing I want done is my open stairway. I would love to get red of the carpet and replace with nice wood and a runner. It would be a task because of the spindles were put in over the carpet.

Jodi, I am sending you my very best boob hugs!! You have a lot going on! Take good care of yourself!!!!

Dianne, I only watch a little of DWTS. I have a hard time deciding between The Voice and all my NCSI shows !
Paula looks different in different pics. Some worse than others.

    ReplyDelete
  38. SLIN - She has chosen to not have any treatment. I support her decision. Just hoping for the best ♥

    ReplyDelete
  39. MARY - I would take a boob hug any day. Thanks lady ♥

    ReplyDelete
  40. HOdi i'm really sorry to hear that. Is her disease already very advanced?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jodi, I am so sorry you are going through all those challenges. I will pray for strength for your friend and her family and friends. It's hard to accept that kind of decision but respecting it is important. (((Hugs))) I hope things calm down for you at work.

    ReplyDelete
  42. J/L, It's exciting to get new paint put on or in your house. I am so jazzed with the new paint in my kitchen. I didn't realize what a difference it would make.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Because I was having so many health problems the first half of this year I filed an extension for my taxes in April and yesterday I finally had them done. The damage isn't too bad. I am getting money back from the Feds and I owe the state about half that amount. I am a happy camper!

    ReplyDelete
  44. HOdi I'm so sorry about your friend. That's how it was with my mom when she was diagnosed. It was too late to do anything except palliative care and just loving her and doing what we could. I know you've been down this road before and it is a most difficult one. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mary Well, I received the estimate last night via email and I find it very agreeable. I have seen this outfit work on several other houses in the neighborhood and also seen the end result and talked with the homeowners who are pleased with the work done. It's a thumbs up for me and I think the painting will be done in approximately 2 weeks. Yay! Another project checked off my list.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Barb I'm glad you're so pleased with your paint job in the kitchen. I look forward to seeing it whenever I am up there again. Hey, how are those kitties? Are they keeping you entertained? That's great that you are getting back 2 times more than you have to pay. I wish I could do that with slot machines. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dianne I probably watch more TV than I should but oh, well. I do have some favorite programs I try to keep up with. I took the dog for a nice long walk today even though it was killing my hip. I need to get back to doing that more. I kind of got out of the habit when I started having so much trouble with the sciatica.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well, shoot! I thought my new door was being put in on the 12th but it won't be done until the 15th.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi....well, family all gone back to Texas and I already miss them. They certainly kept me busy but I like to be busy.

Jodi, I'm so sorry you are having so much going on. Life gets so hard sometimes. I too will pray for your friend and you for extra strength. Xxoo

JL, aren't those triplets adorable? These are their only children. Two of them wanted mommy and daddy but one went right to Kayla. Good deal on your painting coming off your to do list. Does your hip hurt a lot? Sorry. All these darn aches and pains. I have one test left next week of a scope down me. They put me out for it in the hospital rather than their surgery area. I will finally be done after that is over. My iron is still so low and they don't know why.

Barb, so glad you are doing better. Are you still enjoying those kittens? Are they getting big already? Yay on getting money back...that's always a nice thing. Now you can take your refund and come visit!! Pick up JL on the way. We should have snow in about a month and we could "frolic" in it......doesn't that sound fun?

Well, I have to go to the darn Melting Pot again this week. It's Kayla's bday weekend and that's what she picked for her family dinner. Have to cook again for a million dollars!!

Mary, I see you were getting all spiffed up today. You look so pretty. I think it's funny that you turn off the sound for drunk singers.

Thinking of all of you and sending a round of hugs to all.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thank you all for the encouraging words! It truly does help and a few extra prayers couldn't hurt. Looking forward to dinner tonight. Paul and I are going to a restaurant we passed on our Sunday drive a couple of weeks ago, but have never been to. Should be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  51. BARB - Congrats on your taxes! I hate that 3 letter word ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. SLIN - You'll have to post pics of your house when it is done! And good for you for taking Ursula out. I need to do the same. I'm thinking some exercise will help my mood.

    ReplyDelete
  53. DIANNE - I've only been to the Melting Pot once. But it was on Monday "Girl's Night", so it wasn't too bad. You crack me up with "Have to cook again for a million dollars"!!! That is how I always felt going to Prime Quarter Steakhouse. I go out to eat so someone ELSE can make my damn steak!!

  54. I did a little bit of running around today.I am going to visit my not so favorite Aunt Sunday. I asked her sweet daughter what I could take her. She said tamales and Mexican pastries . None of my Aunts (Dad's sisters)liked my Mom. They reminded me of Cinderella's stepsisters. I was raised to respect them anyway. My Aunt Janie, who I will be visiting, and my Aunt Minnie are the last of the siblings. It will be a bit of a trip, but I know she is frail and getting up in age with dementia. My Dad was the baby of the family and only son. The sisters thought he would have bettered himself if he hadn't married my Mom. It has really hard not holding grudges with them.

I am feeling sad. My DIL from Montana just posted on FB that their sweet dog passed away. She is an animal lover big time and works for animal control. She has the biggest heart! She has at least 6 dogs. They are so loving and obedient for her! It is amazing! Each dog has their own dish and eat on command. Hell, I can barley get Zoie to sit lol!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Dianne, I have always wanted to go to the Melting Pot, but after reading your review, I think I changed my mind!

    ReplyDelete
  56. J/L, you can come over any time to see my newly painted kitchen.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mary, I love it when I can cross projects off my list.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jodi, I hate that three letter word, too. I usually try to get it over with as soon as my W-2 comes in the mail so I don't have to worry about it, but this year I just didn't have the energy to get my stuff together by April 15. So, I'm glad it turned out OK.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Good morning, HOoters! I woke up to the sound of light sprinkling or drizzle hitting the gutters on the roof. Hey, we'll take what we can get. It seems to be over now but it appears that it was going on for a while as everything is nicely wet.

I went to dinner last night and then to see Black Mass. It was very good. Johnny Depp did an excellent job and is nearly unrecognizable in the role of James "Whitey" Bulger.

    ReplyDelete
  60. MARY - How was your visit with your Aunt? Bless you for being gracious enough to do that. Sorry about your DIL's dog ♥

    ReplyDelete
  61. SLIN - Glad you got "wet" ;) I'll have to check out that movie. I didn't recognize him in the promos.

  62. I had a fun weekend off! Friday night I set an alarm to get up around 11 pm. Sunway was periscoping her gig live! By the time I was done watching that, Jake got home from work with my car. My ex-boss Alex snapchatted me a pic from a bar here in town, so I went down to the Main Tap at 1 am! Saturday I did my running around in the morning because Jake wanted to use my car in the afternoon and for work. I kinda enjoyed a quiet house in the afternoon to get my laundry done and to catch up on my DVR'd shows. Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Wisconsin. Got up to about 80*!!! After the Packers won, I met my ex-asst store leader and his boyfriend at a bar on the lake for a beer and an early dinner. Paul met us there after he was done cutting wood. What a difference 24 hours make. It is now windier than a mofo, cloudy and only about 60*. Having a little afternoon coffee because it's bowling night!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sounds like fun, Jodi. We had beautiful weather too....we r still having it. Our teams did good yesterday. It's going to be hard when we play each other.

Went to Melting Pot last night and everyone enjoyed it. There was 8 of us and a couple of bottles of wine and the bill was $600. It was very nice that my ex son in law and wife paid. Too pricey for me!! Kayla had a nice time but her boyfriend bailed at the last minute....jerk. She received some nice gifts. Can hardly believe she's 17. Kayla got a tattoo on her side Saturday ...much to my objections. I think she's too young. She got the words "somewhere over the rainbow" for me and then when I die she's getting nana and the date. It's a nice jester and I told her so but I just think she's too young. Oh well, no one listens to me. I hope part two of the tattoo is a long time from now!!!

Had our carpets cleaned this afternoon. We have to not wear shoes for 24 hours. We're having a Bronco party on Sunday so needed to spiff up. I went shopping for the food today ....can't believe I'm doing this....cooking included. I also went to dentist because s cond new bridge cracked. I'm really over this.

What did everyone else do over the weekend? Sorry Barb about those Raiders....it was close. I like your coach.

    That's about it for now

    ReplyDelete
  64. Dianne What's with you and breaking bridges? Are you eating rocks? Have you thought about implants instead? Have I asked you that before? LOL My memory sucks.

I'm glad you had a nice birthday dinner with Kayla but what a jerk her boyfriend is for bailing at the last minute. That must have been disappointing for her. What was his excuse?
It was very generous of her father to pay the entire bill. I've never heard of the Melting Pot before.

What are you cooking for the Bronco party? Our 49ers are sucking this year. They can't seem to get in a groove.

  65. HOdi You are always so busy. How did you do bowling? I used to enjoy bowling but don't do it anymore because of my back. I need to do something with my life but I don't know what.

    ReplyDelete
  66. DIANNE - You weren't kidding about how expensive that place is! And yay Packers and Broncos! I'm not looking forward to that game, either. May the best team win.

    ReplyDelete
  67. SLIN - I bowled rather well. For me, at least. 109, 148, and 119! Woot, woot!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dianne, I LOL @ your "I hope part two of the tattoo is a long time from now".
Dianne, I am sure your Broncs won't lay down and die like our Lions!!

Jodi, I am sure your Packers won't lay down and die like our Lions!! LOL, Sorry, but I have to root for the Broncs!

JL,You should take up Ballroom dancing! You know, like DWTS looks easy enough lol!

My son & I were busy all day working on my new turlett. My son put down a sub-floor and new flooring. The trim was stained and put up. The glue part was messy. My job was to walk over it many times & to wipe off any seepidge between the cracks.
Jim went to the Casino. He has no patience for this. Lazy is another word that comes to mind lol!
The turlet is 2" higher. I almost slammed my arse the first time I sat down
, forgetting it was closer to-my-arse lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Mary I have a taller toilet, too. We got it because my husband was 6'4". I like it. It's easier to get up off of, especially compared to ones that are extra low. Speaking of toilets......The other night I awoke in the middle of the night and went to use the toilet. I pulled down my undies and sat down and Surprise! I had not noticed that I had put the top lid down. You might say I "kissed" the toilet lid. LOL It was an odd sensation, to say the least, and a bit cold.

    ReplyDelete
  70. HOdi Good scores, especially that 148. It's a fun way to get some exercise.

    ReplyDelete
  71. MARY - I'm sorry you slammed your arse! Does the new turlett leave you dangling? ;) And no worries, not sure I would ever root for your Lions either. lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. SLIN - lol @ kissing the toilet! Better than when my boys leave the seat up and I almost fall in!!! It was a fun night and a fun way to get some exercise!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hi all... I'm awake much too late and didn't even have a nap. Went to lunch with my childhood friend. Unfortunately, she lives about three hours from here so we don't get to meet very often..about every three months. We met at 12:30 today and stayed until 5:00. We weren't done talking yet. It was a really fun lunch. I then left to take my granddaughters to dinner. Been a busy eating and talking day. I then had to come home and clean up for the cleaning lady! Whew.

JL, I was writing Mary that I can't seem to find a tall toilet around. Home Depot won't even order one. She gave me the name of the brand but can't find it here. Any ideas?

Jodi, Tammy has taken up bowling too and loves it. Her boyfriend is on a league so she is now also. Sounds like you have fun.
I think I'd rather "kiss the pot" that fall in it!! Btw Jodi, that wine my ex SIL and wife had as $65 a bottle and they ordered two during the dinner. We ordered a special that you Received a bottle of wine but she didn't like the type it came with so ordered a different. Must be nice.

Mary, thanks for your toilet info and picture. I don't think I've ever had someone send me a picture of their toilet. Glad you weren't sitting on it or Jim either. Lol

    Barb, missing you.

Time for bed. Have a dr shot appt at 10am. Getting an updated pneumonia one.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Dianne My toilet is a Toto. Perfect for you. Got it through a shop that specializes in bathroom fixtures. My bathroom sink vanity is a little taller than normal, also.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Dianne, lol I have never sent a picture of my turlett before!! It is still taking a bit of time getting used to the height. My toes dangle lol! My hubby and son love it! I hope you find one!

I forgot to comment on my visit to my Aunt Janie. I am very glad I went. She is in her 90s. It was odd seeing her so frail. She was always a strong woman, always dressed perfect. I told her I loved the way she always looked so regal. That got a big smile out of her. Gone was the sassy opinionated woman I knew as a child. I was in awe of her, but also afraid of her. She was a tough ole bird. He husband was a hardworking man. He held down 2 jobs to keep the family in all their needs. Him, I liked. I am happy to say my feelings have softened towards her.

  76. Well, tomorrow I have to be at hospital at 7am for my scope procedure. I'm a little nervous because I will be put out which means once again finding a vein. It also always makes me nervous going under especially after the Joan Rivers tragedy. At least I will be at a hospital.

JL, thanks I'll check for that potty. I can't find yours, Mary. I'll keep looking.

Had my shot today and blood test by a lady that finds that vein every darn time....love her. I was lucky as they only had one shot left. W not to WW after missing three weeks and had a gain...ugh.

Mary, glad your visit went well. I'll bet she was really glad to see you too. You are a good person.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Mary I'm glad your visit with your aunt was a good one. She has probably softened over time, too. Maybe you should get a foot stool to go with your tall toilet. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  78. Dianne Here's the link to Toto toilets. Whatever kind you get, you want one that is ADA compliant as they are a little taller than most. The toilet I have is the Toto Dartmouth. http://www.totousa.com/products/toilets#product-collection-result-div

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dianne2 I forgot to say good luck tomorrow. Here's hoping they hit that vein on the first try.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi HOoters. Sorry I have been MIA. Nothing much is going on here and I don't have much to say. I hope everything is OK with you all. Dianne, I hope your scope tomorrow results in good news.

I went for my follow up appointment and the restrictions were lifted but I still have to be careful. I won't be able to lift much more than 10 lbs. ever and I need to be very careful when bending. At least I can drive now so I can go to the gross-ry store. I'll just have to make more trips to carry stuff in or maybe just buy less! ;)

We are supposed to have rain tomorrow but it may be just sprinkles like we had last week. The weather people say El Nino should arrive here in Nov. and last until Feb. With all the fires we had, there is danger of flooding if we do get a lot of rain because the ground is like concrete and won't absorb the water. Sheesh! It's either feast or famine!

    Good night and sweet dreams.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Barb Yay for having the restrictions lifted. Maybe you should go to the gross-ry store more often so you don't have so much to bring in at a time. I swear it seems I go every day or nearly every day. Of course, my store is only about a mile away so it's very convenient.

Last night I took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood at about 8:30 or 9:00. We saw one rat and one skunk. It was a good night for the dog. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  82. Oh, and while I was at the gross-ry store today, I said a nice hearty hello to a man I don't know. LOL I thought I knew who it was. Anyway, he looked surprised, gave me a big smile and said hello back. We then went about our business. So embarrassing.....

    ReplyDelete
  83. JL, You are such a flirt lol! I am sure you made his day :) I have done that and has been done to me! I must have many twins out there...short Mex.dark hair, big boobs, who'd a thunk lol!!!

Dianne, Is the "scope" the thing I think it is? Up your arse, Va JJ or down your throat? @@ Good luck either way!

Barb, good hearing from you. I miss my owls when they don't check in. I know, I know, I too am guilty of no show lol!! I am so glad you are on the mend! Your long term restrictions would be good advice for all of us Owls eh? Well, maybe not our youn'n Hodi lol!

    ReplyDelete
  84. J/L, I will definitely be buying fewer gross-ries at a time now so I won't have so much to bring in each time. The store is only a mile from my house so it is very convenient for me, too.

  85. Sunday the family is going to dinner to celebrate my grandson's graduation from U.C. Davis. He completed all his requirements by the end of summer and the ceremony isn't until December, but we are going to celebrate early. I am so proud of him. :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Waving a floppy wing to Dianne, Mary , and Jodi. I hope you are doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Barb Congrats to your grandson! What field is he interested in going into? I know a lot of veterinarians attended UC Davis and they have some highly specialized veterinary services there.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mary My errant "hello" was pretty embarrassing as I said it extra loud to get his attention. I guess I should go back to being my unfriendly self. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  89. Dianne I hope your procedure went well. Check in, please.

    ReplyDelete
  90. HOdi How are you holding up? I hope you're having a good, worry-free day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. DIANNE - Nice, indeed. Even nicer that they paid that huge bill!!! Good luck to the Broncos tomorrow. Oh, wow!! 5-0 just like the Packers!!! Are you going to a party? Or did I read somewhere that you are hosting? I'll have to tune in after work and before the Packers start.

    ReplyDelete
  92. BARB - Did you ever get that rain? And yay for the lifting of the restrictions! Congrats to your Grandson. That is amazing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. SLIN - Funny you should ask. The week started out with bowling. All good!! But I got a call from Sam on Tuesday. She lost her keys and her wallet Monday night, so she stayed with a friend and that's where I picked her up from. Long story short, had to get a new key cut for her Honda, but couldn't get it started with the code they gave us. Their keys have a microchip in it, so had to have her car towed to the dealership so they could program the new keys. I made her get a 2nd key, so we won't have this problem again. Pretty expensive lesson. $90 for the tow. $24 x 2 to have keys cut, and $60 to have both programmed. Ouch!!!

  94. Paul turned 50 in June, so yesterday he had his first colonoscopy. The prep part really made me nervous being that he is a type 1 diabetic. Thursday afternoon his blood sugar had plummeted to about 35. So I went to my store and got jello cups, gatorade, apple juice and regular mountain dew. He made it ok thru the night. He has no memory of the procedure or about an hour after. When he got back to the room he told the nurse to f*ck off, and me, too. He was bound and determined to get the hell outta there. They hadn't even pulled his iv and was still hooked up to the monitors. He couldn't get the gown off because of still being hooked up to all that, so he unsnapped it at the shoulders. Imagine the nurses' surprise when she was walked in and he was butt naked!!! She tried reasoning with him, but he wasn't having it. I was done! He truly hurt my feelings, but all was forgiven when I realized he had no memory of any of it. Today it is making me lmao!!!

    ReplyDelete
  95. HOdi Well, I guess he didn't take to the drugs too well and being out of it and confused probably made him scared. Still not nice to be talked to that way, though. I'm glad things are back to normal now. Does Sam know where she lost her stuff? Losing a wallet would really be a pain in the ass.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hi...I'm here. My scope procedure went ok. Dr said no cancer or ulcer but biopsied some other thing. Will hear from him next week. I as out cold and glad I was too. Louis brought me home and I slept all day, woke for a small bite to ear and back to sleep. I took my friend for a colonoscopy on Friday. Kind of strange..Primary made me get this scope since my iron is so low. Had a blood test Monday and she called Thursday night to tell me my iron is high now. Dumb that I had the scope and had to pay $800 to satisfy my deductible. It also took three sticks and a vein finder machine to start the Iv.

Wow Jodi, glad things are okay now. That would have hurt my feelings too. Drugs are crazy things. I think u have the weekend off, right? Hope Sam finds her wallet.

Barb, congratulations to your grandson. Have a fun celebration.

Yes, I'm hosting the Bronco party and thrilled about it. I should be getting things ready now but I'm procrastinating. Louis is a big help. I'm make nag a breakfast casserole in the crockpot that has to start cooking at midnight. Ive never made it before so I'm kind of nervous.

Mary, glad that snow didn't last for you. Brrr too early. We're still having great weather until the middle of next week

JL, I think you need to keep being your friendly self. You probably made that guys day.

Guess I'd best get to work.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Whew....crockpot is cooking, took a shower and have bowls, etc., out for tomorrow along with bronco plates, cups, tablecloth. Thank goodness for Louis helping. Now I just have to pray breakfast turns out or we will be making a quick run to McDonalds for breakfast sandwiches.

I used to love to entertain ...about 30 years ago. It's just too much work now and not very fun. It will be when the people get here and I'm only having eight. I wish it were back in the day when I didn't get so pooped and hot!!

    Good night.

  102. J/L, My grandson chose an English major (just like his Grandma) and He is considering teaching, but he keeps changing his mind. He wants to get a Masters so he will probably start that program next year. He is also thinking about getting a PhD but he may be sick of school by then. He is currently working for the State Air Resources Board on a part time basis, but he says he's not interested in pursuing that kind of work even though he likes his job and it pays a boat load more than a teaching job. He just doesn't want to do that for the rest of his life! I told him he should definitely do something he really likes because he will be doing it for a looong time! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  103. Jodi, It's a good thing Paul can't remember he said that to you, but all is forgiven. Drugs do strange things to people and speaking from experience, I can't be held responsible for anything I say while taking pain meds, although I do remember saying them. I just don't have an edit when I am on pain drugs. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  104. Dianne, Say, if you don't have enough Bronco plates I have a bunch of Raiders plates I can send you. I probably won't be using them since I don't entertain much.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Mary, Thanks for the good wishes. I hear you are having cold weather already. Keep warm and don't go walking in snow/ice conditions.

    ReplyDelete
  106. We did have a storm pass through on Friday night. There was thunder and lightning and a LOT of rain all through the night and by morning the sun was out. The ground is so hard that most of it was still puddling yesterday afternoon. I didn't hear of any flooding though. It may rain again today, but it's noonish and I don't see any dark clouds yet. Maybe they will move in fast!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Barb Good advise to your grandson. It's best to pursue something you really enjoy. The money he's making now is nice, too, and that should help him pursue his educational goals.

I sure wish it had rained here all through the night. We really need it. That's one thing that irritated me when I was in SoCal. All their green lawns. Up here we are conserving to the point of brown or completely dead lawns. We send water down there and they have nice lawns. Makes me crabby.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Dianne How was your casserole? I hope it turned out well for you. You had a very exciting game to watch. I bet you were all yelling. So far, the Niners are winning their game.

    ReplyDelete
  109. HOdi I hope your having a good day even though you had to work. How is your relationship with Melissa these days?

I took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood and then threw the ball for her a while in the backyard. I made myself a cheddar cheese and salsa omelet for breakfast. Other than that, I haven't done a whole hell of a lot. There's some recorded TV shows to catch up on. I should try to do that before my regular "must see" shows start this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Mary Come out, come out, wherever you are!

I like my new door and now am trying to decide on colors to paint the house. I have a general idea, but really getting it down to the final choice is difficult. My roof tiles are various shades of gray.....some look like they have a bluish tint and others look like they have a greenish tint. My house is currently blue but I want to change it to a green. I find different greens bring out different colors in the roof tiles. Some greens make the roof look mostly blue. This is becoming a pain in the ass. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  111. The Bronco party was a success. Just the right amount of people. My casserole turned out good and was cooked perfect. And then the Broncos won ...barely.

Barb, your generosity overwhelms me that you are willing to send me "Raider" plates. I think I might get thrown out of the Bronco group. Thank you anyway. :)

We are supposed to have a high of 52 on Wednesday. It was another beautiful day today. Louis and I are going to take a short drive and lunch in the mountains tomorrow. I'm hoping there are still some leaves left on the trees.

JL, sounds like you are making some big long term decisions....better pick a color you love.

Jodi and JL... Looks like you both won your games. Jodi, it would be really nice of you to let us win in two weeks. I mean we are guests in your stadium and it would be a polite thing to do. Can you call the team and let them know? Hope your weekend wasn't too hard. Now you get next weekend off, right?

Mary, are you stranded in the snow or celebrating your win today too?

Louis did most of the cleanup tonight. He's so sweet. My entertaining is over for awhile except the kids at Christmas. It's like a Colonscopy ....every five years. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  112. BARB - I'm the same way on pain meds. I remember the last time I was on them when I broke my arm. All the kids did was laugh at me. Mom was totally out of it! lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. SLIN - Things are better with Milissa now that she has moved out. I think the anticipation of breaking of with her hubby had made her a raging bitch! She still has issues, but at least she's easier to work with!

    ReplyDelete
  114. DIANNE - I'm glad your party was a success!! And just to clarify, we play there!! So you should have a talk with your team. Just sayin' ;) And yes, I have next weekend off!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Dianne You are right. House color is a big decision. I'm glad your casserole turned out well and that you have a sweetheart of a husband to help you out like he does. My second husband was like that, too. In fact, he probably would have been the one cooking, too. He enjoyed that. We used to look forward to watching the 49er games. Oh, and I was feeling annoyed with my new TV because the game scores were mostly off the screen so I couldn't read what they were. It was like the picture was being broadcast bigger than my screen, if that makes sense. Anyway, the TV's options to change screen size did not take care of the problem so when I called my satellite provider yesterday with a different question, I also asked about the screen size and was told to push the asterisk button on their remote to change picture size. Voila! Picture now fits perfectly and I no longer have to feel annoyed when I watch a game. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  116. HOdi I'm glad things are better with Milissa. She must have been really stressed with problems at home. Hopefully, she'll have her head on straight soon.

    ReplyDelete
  117. J/L, we were at the restaurant during the game and they had a TV that we could see from our table. Dean asked me if I could see the score and I said yes, but I can't read it! My Grandson had to read it with his young eyes. LOL Your story about your TV just reminded me of that.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Jodi, I'm glad things are a little better with Melissa. I hope she is more at peace now that she has moved out.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Dianne, you should give us the recipe for your crockpot breakfast. It sounds like it's a good thing for company. My in laws are going to make a trip to Sac and I'm all for easy meals.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Hi all! Geesh, I was sure I had commented sooner! Getting senile I think lol!
Sadly, that last sentence describes my sister Janie's predicament. She has dementia, and is in complete denial! Her husband is messed up because he doesn't take his meds when he should. The last 2 days have been a trip! She has called me and says she wants to move back to Michigan, then said she is splitting with her hubby. She has called me 3 times today. Last call she said everything is fine and they are working things out. He was going to put her on a bus to Michigan! My siblings and her daughter are all scratching our heads as to what to do.. They are both adamant that they can take care of themselves! They left a wonderful assisted living home and now at his son's house. This son was sure my niece, Janie's daughter, was exaggerating their condition and the awful mess on their finances. Well, guess who saw the light?? They want to move into an apartment...again! They have moved 4 times this last year because they find something wrong with each! My Niece is beside herself and not in the best of health either, nerve wise.
So, you see why I have been a leeetle distracted lol! It must be hard to be in and out mentally! She is the sweetest sister and normally doesn't complain. It is hard living so far away!

Dianne, I want that recipe too! Yay on the Broncs! I wouldn't count on Hodi giving your Broncs a pass on the next game lol!

Jodi, Yay on you team as well! Can you believe the Lions finally won a game *rolling eyes*

Barb,, I am so glad you got the rain! Too bad it doesn't soak in the ground before it evaporates! Do you have rain barrels?

JL, If I was you, I would get the advice from the place that sells the paint. They usually have someone on hand for those things. You have good taste, so you may not need anybody :) I got advice from a gal at our paint store. I wanted two different colors in my living room and she helped me decide.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Ok. Here's the recipe. Layer crockpot with half a frozen bag of potatoes. I used potatoes o'brien because they already have the onion and green pepper in them. Otherwise, it calls for frozen hash browns and an onion and a green pepper. Then u cover it with shredded cheese....repeat ending with cheese. You then take 12 eggs and a cup on milk and mix it and pour it over crockpot mixture. Cook it 8-10 huts on low. I started it at 12:30am and added a little extra cheese on top and guests arrived about 11am. You put a knife down the middle to be sure eggs set. I put out salsa and sour cream and tortillas in case anyone wanted to make it into a burrito. I noticed most ate it as a casserole with salsa. So......32 oz frozen hash browns; green pepper; onion; 8 oz or more of shredded cheese; 12 eggs; 1 cup milk

  122. Mary The wife of the owner of the painting crew is the one that came out and gave me an estimate and dropped off some paint brochures for a few different brands of paint to help me get color combo ideas. I plan on asking her to come back out to help me decide. She's been doing this for years. Mostly, I just need a second set of eyes. I went to a couple of different paint stores to get more paint sample strips and I don't think anyone there really cared what color I painted my house. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  123. Dianne Your casserole sounds tasty. It's nice you can do the work the night before so you don't have to fuss with it when you have your company over. I'm never cooking for a group anymore so I probably won't get to taste it.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Barb LOL @ you could see the score but not read it.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Mary2 I meant to comment on your sister and her husband. What a difficult situation that is and what a shame that they moved out of the assisted living facility. It sounds like they need someone to keep an eye on them.

    ReplyDelete
  126. MARY - What a horrible situation for your sister and her hubby. I hope they will accept some help, and soon. Love u ♥

    ReplyDelete
  127. BARB - Thanks! It has certainly helped the morale at the store!! It's a win, win for everyone :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. DIANNE - Thanks for the recipe! Sounds easy enough and yummy!!

    ReplyDelete
  129. SLIN - I got out the last 2 days and took advantage of our balmy weather. The walking has really helped my moods. Of course, some of that has to do with the lowered tension at work!

  130. Bowling was fun this week! I'm actually quite proud of myself. Going into Monday night, I had a 116 average. I bowled 118, 106, and 122. We bowled against a really fun team, but thankfully I had Tuesday off because I didn't get home until after 11 pm.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hi everyone....

Mary, I hope your sister and husband can get things worked out. It's so hard when you're not close to where they live too.

Jodi, sounds like you are enjoying the bowling. 11 is very late for you. Tammy is on two leagues a week now and really enjoying it. They go to practice sometimes on Sunday morning. I think it's more for the mimosas!!

JL, have you decided on a paint color yet? I think we are having your weather. It was 49 here today and rainy kind of foggy too. It was nice for a change.

Barb, hope you saw the recipe.

I go to the dentist again tomorrow. Yuck. See what they do with that cracked patched bridge.

I also have to go in for a procedure in November. First a test then the actual procedure. It's least get put to sleep for it. That's what I have to look forward to in November and December.

Well, not much else. Going to sleep early tonight. Night.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Jodi, Congratz of your bowling average. My Hubby and I were in a bowling league and I was terrible. My Hubby was really good and they liked him on their team, but they didn't want me back. They wanted to win and I brought the team score down, so my Hubby quit too. So, that was the end of our bowling experience! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  133. Mary, it sounds like your sister's kids need to legally take over the parents affairs. That's a hard thing to do but it's usually the best thing.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Dianne, That recipe sounds really easy. I may add some chopped ham as another layer. These Okies like to have meat for breakfast! LOL I think I'll get the O'Brien potatoes, too. I'll let you know how it turns out for me. I hope your dentist appointment is an easy one and doesn't cost you any more money!

  135. J/L, My paint lady got small amounts of three colors that I liked and painted stripes of all three on several places around the kitchen and I lived with them for a week. They had a different affect at different times of day/night. I am really happy with the color I eventually chose. You m.ay not want to have patches of different colors on the outside of your house, but it's a good way to tell how it will look.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Barb Painting patches is exactly what my paint lady did to the house across the street when they were deciding on their color. I do know the color of green I am most attracted to as there is a house painted that color on the street below me and I love it every time I drive by it. I think I've got a sample that matches it pretty darn well. I know I want white trim but I want a darker green accent on white window shutters and a kind of redwood color red for the front door. There are a lot of different brownish reds to choose from.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Dianne Your daughter seems to have a lot of fun with her boyfriend. I know you love her ex-husband but are you happy with this new guy in her life? She sure has pretty girls.

  138. HOdi Today I'm getting my hair cut and dyed. Covering these gray roots is what helps my mood. LOL Here's hoping they aren't too grown out by the time of my 50th high school reunion on the 7th.

  139. SLIN - I'm sure you will knock 'em dead pretty lady!! Wow, 50 years....how did THAT happen?

    ReplyDelete
  140. BARB - Thankfully this is a pretty inclusive league. No shame in anybody's game!

  141. DIANNE - How did your appointment go today? Hopefully it was a pain free fix!

  142. Hi all!
Today I spent going through closets and dressers.Jim and I had scads of cloths that have "shrunk." I have 2 large bags going to a local charity place. I have a gal in town who always looks forward to my closet cleaning. LOL! I called to let her know I was bringing them. She laughed and said, "I was just talking to someone, telling them I hope Mary calls soon, I need cloths!" She lives alone and works at our small grocery store. About 20 some years ago I was her "husband" when her 2 1/2 lb baby boy wast born. Her then husband had issues and refused to go to the hospital. The baby (Quinn) was in an incubator for over a month. I was allowed to replace her husband and be there for my friend (Vicki). Quinn could actually fit into a GI Joe doll outfit! It was touch & go , but he made it, graduated from high school and working. He is small for his age, but otherwise healthy. He would have prolly been bigger, but Vicki drank and smoked during her pregnancy. I tried to warn her, but she didn't think it would hurt the baby! Duh!
I don't hang around her anymore, but keep in contact.

Thanks for your thoughts on my sister. So far they are staying put at husbands sons place. If any of you read my families book, my sis is the one who was taken at birth from my parents by Grandma Sanchez and taken to Michigan from Texas. My Mother demanded her back when she was 11 when they moved to Mich. To say the least it was a traumatic time for her. To this day she talks about it.

Time to check on my farms lol.....

  143. OMG I didn't think this blog existed anymore. I notice just a few of you still belong, I just wanted to check and see if it still existed. I haven't commented on here forever. A lot have changed in my life since I been here. Some good some bad. The worse is that my Mom passed in 2010. That's how long it's been. My two oldest sons graduated high school and my youngest just started high school. Well I hope I remember my name to post here.

    ReplyDelete
  144. ReneeEve Good to see you! Yes, there are just a few of us die-hard owls still on the blog. I guess we are the kind of people that never give up the ship. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  145. Mary I didn't know that about your sister. Yes, that would be very traumatic for a child.

Your friend's baby must have been a preemie, right? Wow, only 2 1/2 lbs sure is tiny. I was a very light smoker during pregnancy. They weren't making an issue of it back then. I've never really been a drinker. Anyway, my babies were both 8 1/2 lbs so I guess it didn't stunt their growth much.

    ReplyDelete
  146. HOdi Now that my hair is dyed, I only look 67 instead of 68. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  147. MARY - I truly need to do the same thing, only backwards. I have stacks of clothes that are too big and outdated. Rainy afternoon here, and chilly. I imagine you might be having the same by you this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  148. RENEE EVE - Yes, we're stil here! Thanks for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  149. SLIN - LOL at not giving up the ship! I'm sure you look MUCH younger than that. Love u 💜

  150. It's my weekend off, and it's going to be a busy one. I'm working the merchandise table for a show in Madison tonight. A friend has a band, and I volunteered. It's a small venue, so I'll be able to see the show, and for free! Tomorrow I'm going to see Wicked. One of my gays (my friend Brandon who is also a drag queen) was looking for people interested in going this summer, and I jumped at the opportunity. I've read the book, but have never seen the show. I best make a pot of coffee. I worked early today and the show tonight doesn't start until 9.

    Have a great weekend HOoters!

  151. ReneeEve, Hello and welcome back to the nest. Sorry to hear about your Mom. Your boys are all grown up! It won't be long before you are an empty nester!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Jodi, I loved Wicked. I saw it last year on our Broadway season.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Dianne, How did the dentist visit go?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Mary, That is very sad about your sister. I have been going through closets, too and have gotten rid of a lot of clothes, but my closets still seem full. I think they multiply in the dark.

    ReplyDelete
  155. J/L, Are you any closer to nailing down the color(s) for your house?

    ReplyDelete
  156. Renee, good to see you here! Please come on back!

Jodi, I saw Wicked a while back on stage. I liked it! Have a ball!

SacBarb, I know what you mean! I should go through my closet again, but it is hard having all kinds of seasons here! I need to be "covered for all lol!

JL,Did you change your hair color to match your doors :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. So, I'm up at the butt crack of dawn so that my neighbor's dog can stay with me all day. They are away at a wedding and their house sitter had to be away for 12 hours today. Normally, this dog is very excited to see my dog but she is very, very attached to her people and is not happy about being left here. I gave her some treats but then she went back and stood by the front door looking sad and upset. It's going to be a long 12 hours made even longer by the fact that I only had a couple of hours of sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Mary LOL @ getting my hair dyed the same color as my front door. We don't have distinct seasons here where I am. I might need to have a jacket in the summer and may wear a light top in the winter. We never know from one day to the next what the temp will be and it changes from one spot to the other. We have a lot of micro-climates.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Barb The paint lady is coming over around between 11 and 12 to look at the colors with me. I've already told her I will let her in through my attached garage because I'm afraid of having the visiting dog make a break for it through the front door.

    ReplyDelete
  160. HOdi I'm afraid I look my age, if not older. My fat does kind of fluff out some wrinkles in my face, so there is that. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  161. Dianne How is that bridge (over troubled waters)?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Today is my husbands 50th birthday. We went to a movie and dinner last night with my in laws and kids. I think my husband is having a hard time turning 50. I can't wait I'll be 50 in six weeks. It's nice to be back in the nest.

    ReplyDelete
  163. RENEE EVE - Happy 50th to your hubby! Mine turned 50 in June, and my turn is in March!

    ReplyDelete
  164. Wicked was amazing last night. I don't think my hubby is happy that I had events back to back without him, though.

    ReplyDelete
  165. SLIN - How did the dog sitting go? And did you make a choice on the color for your house?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Getting my laundry done today since the Packers have a bye week. Enjoy your Sunday HOoters!

    ReplyDelete
  167. ReneeEve Happy birthday to your hubby. Turning 50 is a milestone. In a couple of years I will turn 70 so I'd rather be turning 50 any day. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  168. HOdi The dog sitting went fine but the dog was not happy about it and was pretty mopey the whole time. That made it not so fun for my dog either as they usually play together when they see each other. Not this time. The other dog was just to worried about the situation. Another issue was that the house sitter was supposed to pick up the dog at 6 but didn't show up until 9! Normally, that would not be a problem but I kept putting off feeding dinner to the dog because I kept thinking the other dog would be picked up any minute. If the arrangement would have been to watch that dog until 9, I would have fed them both dinner. The owners of the dog are very unhappy with their friend for not honoring the pick up time and have apologized profusely.

As for color, yes I have decided on a color that was not my first choice. LOL The color of green that I really like on another house on the street below me, really brings out the blueness of the roof tiles and I don't find that complimentary. I had a second combo of colors that are still in the green family that I felt really went well with my new roof and actually compliments some of the colors in the roof. That's why I wanted the paint lady to come by so I would have that second set of eyes looking at it and she agrees that the second choice is the best choice and will look really good.

  169. Hi all....RENEE it's nice to see you in the next again. We have a small group but a nice time. Happy Birthday to your husband. I'M like JL. 70"is looming down the road in a year.

Went to the movie today to see The Intern with Robert DiNero and Ann Hathaway. It was so good and funny. As a retired person, I could relate a lot to Robert. I'd do recommend you go see it.

Yesterday was morning football and afternoon cheer competition. Busy day and then out to dinner for tammys bday. We won football and now go to championship game ...bad news it's next Sunday during Bronco/Green Bay game.

My bridge is still semi repaired. I'm supposed to eat on it but I haven't because dentist was out and I'm scared too. This week I only have two rd appts!! Yea

Glad you picked your house color. It sounds nice. I wanted your team to,beat Seattle the other night!!

Barb, I see your Raiders are pushing right along.

Mary, how is your sister doing?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Hi again....boring kind of day. Had a dr this morning and had a dinner cancel on me. I had an appt with Apple as my phone wasn't working but Louis took it for me and yea....it's fixed.

I have gotten some things done today though that I've been putting off. I called a plumber about my toilet and Mary, they recommended Toto. They will get back with me with prices on Thursday. The only way to get that brand in Denver is online or through a plumber. I'd like to getter of them depending on the cost. I also did some checking on car insurance as ours keeps going up. I found a decent one through AARP that ends up being $900/yr less. I was one the phone a couple of hours with both but I feel good about it...that I finally got it done.

Guess we will have left over pizza for dinner. Maybe I'll take a nap. I could be organizing some things around here or wrapping some Christmas gifts. I even bought the paper.

What are you all doing today?

    ReplyDelete
  171. Dianne, my day was hectic!! I bought a new set of speakers for my DJ/Karaoke business. I didn't realize how bad my old ones were until I bought my new ones! These are much lighter! My new "mixer" is tons lighter! I do have a few more cables and wires to hook up though. I have been practicing setting everything up for our Halloween gig this week end.Good thing because there were a few major kinks to work out! Thank God for my son! He was persistent at getting to the bottom of the new set up! All is well and my speakers are awesome! I am pooped though! It's almost midnight and I have put in over 14,000 steps! A friend is coming over tomorrow night to practice singing, so she will be my guinea pig lol!!!

JL, be sure to take before and after pics of your house!

Jodi, I think the Lions should take a "buy year" lol! Heads will be rolling!

Waving a wing at the Barbs and Renee~~~~

    ReplyDelete
  172. Dianne I have a Toto and am very pleased with it.

I bought my Christmas cards a while back but I haven't started addressing any and I don't have any Christmas presents except for a few stocking stuffers. How is it that Christmas comes quicker every year?

    ReplyDelete
  173. Mary It sounds like you've got some good new equipment. That's nice that it is lighter than your old stuff.

My day had an unexpected problem. I went into the gross-ry store and when I returned to my car, I saw that I had a flat tire. I took the car across the street to my favorite gas station and they discovered that my tire had a slash in it along the inside edge and going halfway around the tire. Obviously, I had to buy a new tire. Then the station attendant tells me that my other back tire is looking like it's wearing in the same way. So....I now have an appointment tomorrow at my Toyota dealer to have the other tires checked out, probably buy at least one more tire, and get an alignment.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Well JL , that's a pain with your tire. So do you think someone did it? It's always something, isn't it? I ha net done my cards yet. I would like to get a few things wrapped. I think Louis will help me during the country award show next week.

My Drs nurse told me today that the guy before me was complaining, as I was, about so many dr appts. He told her he's given up his friends for doctors. Made me laugh.

Mary, glad you were able to get new lighter speakers and have it all figured out. Wish I could hear you. Does Jim sing?

    ReplyDelete
  175. Dianne No, it's not something a person did to my tire. It's from wear. It was on the inside edge of the tire. Basically, the tire split. They are 4 1/2 years old so probably not a faulty tire but perhaps due to lack of alignment.

    ReplyDelete
  176. JL, I get new tires every 3 or 4 years depending on my mileage. You should get at least 2 new ones or they will wear weird lol! I had a blow our once and don't care for it to happen again! I am glad your car was parked when it went flat!

Dianne, I am still thinking your DDS has a freaky crush on you and keeps you coming back lol!!!
Well, I am off for the day. I have to deliver more donations to a local place, some more to my girlfriend, who was ecstatic about my last pile lol! I need to pick up a few gross-eries and take a breather before my friend comes over tonight. And then there is dinner to make.......

    ReplyDelete
  177. Mary Well, I'm getting that second new tire today as I type. Their shuttle van brought me home so I didn't have to wait around their for the new tire, alignment, and an oil change. I really don't drive much. There were 19,000 miles on the tires that were replaced yesterday and today. My front tires still look great.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Mary, I hope my dentist doesn't have a crush on me because it's a woman about 27 years old. I switched from the last one that kept making me come back!

JL, I hate car things. My last flat happened on the road and a pair of sissors were stuck in it. It's been a couple of years...knock on wood. We lease and my lease will be up,a year from March. I like my car but I'd like a nice shiny red one. Mine is called Juniper green but look grey to me. I drive a lot..about 15,000 mi a year. Louis and I had to trade cars as mine was getting too many miles on it.

Kayla just came over and is doing some chores to earn $$ and then we will go to dinner. Emilee wasn't interested

    Have fun tonight Mary.

Hi to Jodi and Barb and Renee.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Dianne I don't like care things, either. For one thing, I feel helpless when my car is out of commission for some reason. How spoiled is that? You take those trips to Texas. Is that in your car? I guess my 19,000 in 4 1/2 years isn't much, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  180. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Barb!!! I tried posting on your time line just now and it wouldn't let me :( Dang you West coasters lol! Every night at this time my FB won't cooperate!

    Have a great day!!!

  182. Thanks for the birthday wishes Mary. It's also Chocoholic day! Coincidence? I think not!

    ReplyDelete
  183. J/L, do you get your tires rotated regularly? They wear more evenly when you do that! I got new tires about a year ago at American Tires and they rotate them for free. Also, I went in about six months after I got them because two tires were low and they checked them one had a nail in it. They also fixed it for free.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Dianne, Is it cheaper to lease cars than to buy them? I've always wondered how that works.

    ReplyDelete
  185. The monthly payment is usually lower when u lease and we like to upgrade cars do it's perfect for us, Barb. Happy Birthday. Have a great celebration!!

JL, no we take Louis's car on trips. I use mine for lunches lol. Wow you really don't drive much.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Barb Happy Birthday! Eat chocolate! LOL

The more I think about it, the more I think I was told that I should get my tires aligned after that guy T-boned me and caved in the side of my car and made me spin around. I think I was advised to do that by the car repair people and I totally forgot about it. Otherwise, because I don't drive that far, I have my car serviced based on mileage at my Toyota dealer. I do know that has included checking tires, rotating them, and aligning when needed.

We got a little rain last night. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  187. Dianne I guess you go out for lunch a lot. LOL By far, most days I am only traveling a mile away and that's to go to lunch, go grocery shopping, banking, gas, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Good morning HOoters! I'm in the middle of a 6 day stretch. Yesterday was a long day. 9 hour shift followed by an hour Shift Leader Meeting. Tuesday I discovered that there was a $100 difference between shifts on the 1st register. I called and left 2 voicemail messages for my Asst Store Leader who had worked the night before, but he never called back. I then had to call Milissa on her day off. She came in to look at video, but we really didn't see anything other than there is a common denominator in this incident and also another one about 2 weeks ago. The sad part is, he is another shift leader in our store. Our District Leader attended our meeting yesterday, and we now have to have 2 people confirming the count on Register 1. We also have to do a lotto/lottery audit 4 times a day. OY!!! I'm good with that, I just hope people follow thru when I'm not there in the afternoon/evenings.

    ReplyDelete
  189. SLIN - I can't wait to see pics of your house when it is done!

    ReplyDelete
  190. DIANNE - Are you ready for Sunday? It's going to be an awesome game!

    ReplyDelete
  191. BARB - I hope you enjoyed your Birthday! Did you do something special?

    ReplyDelete
  192. MARY - Busy, busy, busy!! Are you getting the same crappy weather we are? Rained most of the day yesterday and still windier than a mofo this morning!

    ReplyDelete
  193. I best go hoist and rinse....Have a great day HOoters ♥

    ReplyDelete
  194. HOdi That's too bad about the missing money. You hate to think that a co-worker would do that but it happens, unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  195. I have a number of little errands to run and things to accomplish before I go on my little trip Wednesday. I'm hoping to get a number of them accomplished today. I have a lot more candy for Halloween than I need, I think. Sometimes I'm surprised though and get more kid than usual. I did eat two fun size Snickers last night but I'm going to try not to do that anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  196. JL...remind me where you are going and for how long. Hope you got all your errands done today..did you? I buy the candy and we aren't even home!! We go to my sons house. We haven t been there since Christmas. Remember I get to see my grandsons at their sporting events. Nice, huh?

Jodi, I won't be home for part of the game as its my grandsons championship game. I can't believe it's the same night. We were going to a Bronco party at Tammys but not any more. His game starts at 5 and the Bronco game starts at 6:30 so hopefully we will get home for some of it. Now remember.....we r playing at home, nice weather, undefeated and it would not be nice for you visitors to come and beat us. It's just common polite for you to,be sure we win ! That's bad about money missing.

    Barb, are you still celebrating?

Mary, are you with Barb celebrating? I'm going to lunch tomorrow with Barb from Co. She's been in Washington for over a month so I'll be glad to see her.

I finally, after two weeks and two phone calls got the biopsy results on my scope procedure. It's showing something called GAVE which is some internal bleeding. My iron level jumped up high so primary dr took my off iron pills last week. This dr left a message for me to take them. I wish these Drs would get together. Now I have to call primary tomorrow.

I cut my top of hand with my fingernail (accidentally) from other hand reaching a not my purse. It hurts and won't heal so went to dr yesterday and it's infected so am on drugs for it..crazy.

Ok..that's my medical history for this week. Still not done with dentist. Ugh
