This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Happy Thanksgiving, HOoters! I hope everyone has a lovely day. I will be having a restful day here at home and will have my daughter's two dogs here with me until Sunday. It's going to be crowded on my bed. It is a king, but still.......3 dogs and me.
I made a pumpkin pie last night and will make myself a turkey breast dinner with all the trimmings today. I will probably catch up on some movies I want to see and basically have a stress-free lazy day.
Hi ....Happy Thanksgiving. I'm too am thankful for all of you so much. Tina, I agree with JL ...thank you very much.
We had a very nice day at my brothers. It was relaxing and fun and stress free. My SIL did a great job. We sure had a lot of food. My granddaughters were there and not even on their phones....a day in history!! My son is irritated with me over the holiday plans but I did hear from him first thing this morning. It was a better day than I'd hoped for this year. My DIL can get a little fiesty.
JL, you are quite the woman making a pie, etc. My VI pies were quite tasty. I'm glad you were going to have a relaxing day. Three dogs sounds like a lot!! What movies did you watch?
Jodi, I'm glad too that you didn't have to make the casserole. Your pretzel dips sound interesting.
It is very icy and snowing here and 17 degrees. You have to drive slow out there. I'm glad we are home. We drove by Walmart and it as packed. Glad I shop online.
SLIN - Enjoy the day with the dogs! And I hope they leave you enough room on your bed! Yesterday I enjoyed watching Gone With The Wind. There was a marathon on AMC.
DIANNE - Glad you had a nice day. Dinner was great at my in-laws. Tim was able to join us before he had to go to work, and Sam joined us after work. Thankfully Jake was able to drive me home. After a big meal, and a couple of the Leinenkugels Ginger Cranberry Shandy, I was tired and a little buzzed. Watching the Packers play those Stinky Bears now. It was quite a moment when they retired Brett Favre's #4 during halftime. Brought a tear to my eye when Bart Starr was brought out.
Dianne I'm glad you enjoyed your day. I had a nice, quiet day here. My friend, Jane stopped by on the way to her family gathering and brought me some of her creamed broccoli. It is sooooo good! It was a perfect addition to my meal. My turkey breast came out great and I am already looking forward to the ease of leftovers tomorrow. I have plenty of gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and everything else. Love the leftovers!
As for the dogs, my daughter's chihuahua's hopes got dashed every time he heard a car pull up outside and it wasn't my daughter. I think he's finally figured out that he's here for the long haul.
Dianne I forgot to say what movie I watched. I watched Mr. Holmes on pay-per-view. It was pretty good. Otherwise, I did watch a couple of TV shows that I had recorded.
HOdi I'm glad all your kids could attend dinner even if it was in different shifts. Glad you got a ride home with Tim. I was planning on having a Black Russian after dinner but I never got around to it.
SLIN - Are you sure you didn't have one of those Black Russian's? Jake drove me home, not Tim. Bwahahahaha!!! Started my day out right. Had breakfast with a co-worker that works 3rd shift. The Bloody Mary was to die for, as was the French Toast, bacon and hash browns! Tim was cooking this morning, so I knew it would be good!
What a disappointing loss last night. Especially to The Stinky Bears!!
Just working on some laundry since I have to work the weekend.
Did any of you shop Black Friday today? I went out briefly, but only to get a couple of gifts for work. Kwik Trip has a program called Families Helping Families. We can contribute financially all year, and at the holidays, we can request tags for families that might need a little extra help getting gifts. I chose 2 tags. Went out to get those gifts, wrapped them, and they are all set to be sent to the home office this week!
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was good, spent with family. I did not go shopping today. Years ago, when my kids were young and before it became so crazy, I did a lot of my Christmas shopping on that day. The stores opened their normal hours and it wasn't such a mad house. I wouldn't fight the kind of crowds that shop on Black Friday now for any amount of savings!
Happy-after-Thansgiving-day!!! My meal came out perfect! I had a standing rib roast and a huge turkey which everyone loved because they were able to take leftovers home! My sister Lena's husband offered to help after, which shocked me lol! After everyone left I called the lady who my son calls "chicken legs". I asked her if she would like the dark meat, which we don't really like. She said yes. I packed her the green bean casserole, mashed taters, corn, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie and rolls. She loved it. I think she shares it with her neighbor lady.
Hodi, you are a sweet and generous lady! Sorry about da bears! The Ginger Cranberry Shandy sounds good!
JL,sleeping with three in your bed, sounds a little kinky lol!!
Dianne, I waited until everyone left before doing the rest of the cleaning. I chose to relax and drink some wine and not stress over it.
Today I decided to have a "Mary day" I took myself to the Casino! It's about a 90 minute drive, but it felt good to be out on my own. I won a little and took myself out for a meal before coming home. The guys survived and ordered out for pizza lol!
Hi.....well, it started a 7 degrees this morning but got up to about 25. The good thing here is the sun shines so it never feels quite as cold. I went to lunch with my SIL AND FRIEND. My SIL Doesn't get out very much except for work, so thought she might enjoy getting out without my brother and I think she did.
Jodi, that was a sad loss to the Bears yesterday. I enjoyed half time though. We are playing the undefeated Patriots at our home this week with our back up quarter back. It would be so cool if we could beat them.
I didn't go shopping today is except online. I do just about everything online. It's so much easier for me.
JL, sounds like you had a nice day. It was nice that your friend dropped by too. I don't know about that movie. I'd like to go and see Meet The Coopers with DIane Keaton.
Barb, when does your company arrive at the Barb Bed and Breakfast? Glad you Thanksgiving was good.
Mary, I should live by you...I love the dark meat. Fun that you got out and about today plus win money too. You are a lucky lady!!
Had a pedicure scheduled today but canceled it until tomorrow....too cold and I wanted to take a nap. Louis went car window shopping but too expensive. I told him it wasn't time yet but he just wanted to "look".
I plan on trying to get my cards done and more wrapping this weekend....we shall see. Our game isn't until Sunday night. It will be freezing there.
Dianne, That shooting is all over FB and the news. It is horrible. I think the repubs are inflaming the masses with all their talk about abortion and how they want to de-fund Planned Parenthood. The Christian right is so radical and not rational at all! It is very scary!!!
My in-laws are arriving tomorrow, but I don't know what time. My SIL said they would call when they are near. They are staying overnight and leaving Sunday morning. I hopw they leave early, because I am supposed to finish up my Christmas cards with the two Jennifers at one of their homes.
Barb I hope you have a nice visit with your in-laws and that they get the hell out in time for you to meet up with the Jennifers. LOL
I'm betting you get your cards out before I do in spite of the fact that I've had mine for months and all I had to do was pick them out. Yours are always so pretty and creative. I look forward to seeing what you've done each year. It's nice that you have friends to work on them with as that makes it a lot more fun and keeps you on track to really do it, too.
Mary You didn't keep any leftovers for yourself? I so look forward to turkey sandwiches, hot and/or cold. It sounds like you put out a really big spread. I saw on FB that your brother-in-law offered to help with cleanup. Yay for that! I hope you let him.
J/L, Believe me, they WILL get out in time for me to go to Jen's house. I will announce the time I have to be there as soon as they get here today! We aren't starting until 11:00. I'm going to tell them 9:30 so they will be gone by 9. Then I will have time to shower and get my ready on before I have to leave. I know - I'm BAD! Having my cards done will not guarantee that I will get them out early, although I will try. I'm very good at putting things off!
Just so you card makers know, I love getting them and wish I had the patience to make them! I think I am a little afraid of starting a craft that will get out of hand like when I made jewelry! My girlfriend has gone completely bonkers with hers! She is a seamstress. She makes all kinds of things especially quilts! She had so much stuff that her house was stuffed! She had a large building made behind her house to fit it all in. Guess what? It is stuffed too! More room. More to buy to fill it lol! When we went to Spain she had to buy a new suitcase to fill with all the material she bought there! I think she is a hoarder! Her hubby is worse! He has a huge barn full of all kinds of tools and gadgets! He keeps it neat, but full to the rim. Out back of their property he has 3 or 4 old semi trailers full too! He doesn't buy just one thing. He has to have 50 of them lol!
Yea!!! We won. We beat the undefeated Patriots in OT. Very exciting and with our back up quarterback....in a snowstorm. I'm glad I was home watching the game and not in the cold stands.
Mary, I feel sorry for whoever has to clean out your friends house when they pass away! I've been trying to not have so much for my kids but I'm not much of a saver.
Barb, did you get your family on their way in time? Hope so.
JL, guess what? I got my Christmas cards done tonight during the game. I'll get them in the mail tomorrow. Now I have to do more darn wrapping. I guess I need to quit ordering on Amazon.
Dianne, They did leave in time, however Jen B. spent Thanksgiving in Fresno with her family and her sister fell and they had to take her to the ER so Jen couldn't get back here today. We rescheduled for next Sunday. I am kinda glad because I was so tired today and my back ached. I took a two hour nap and my back still ached when I woke up.
Mary, I have to tell you that when I started scrapbooking and making cards I never thought I would get so heavy into it. I have more stuff than I'll ever use in my lifetime. I am not buying stuff every month like I was. I have run out of room and I am trying to reorganize it all. Both Jennifers and I have vowed to only use what I have to make cards. So far I have kept to it. Not sure about the other two!
Dianne, what an exciting game! I had the kitchen tv on to the game. I walked by as they were behind and went in the living room to watch our basketball game (we won). My son was in the kitchen scrounging lol, when I heard h im yell, "they won!" I had to see WHO won lol. Good for them!!
Barb, I know how tempting new stuff can be! It is fun though!
JL I have had my cards for over a month and none are addressed! We got our first Christmas card a few days ago. Two of my ex-coworkers try to beat each other on who sends them out first lol, They are so funny!
Barb It sounds like cancelling your card making until next Sunday was better for you, too. I hope your back is feeling better now. I woke up with a bad back today. I seem to have a very "touchy" back lately. I bet it would be a lot better if I lost some of this damn weight.
Mary Your girlfriend's place sounds kind of scary. LOL Every week, I try to find something around here that I can throw out or donate. I must admit that I've been slacking on that commitment lately.
While I was at the gross-ry store today, I bought myself a fresh bouquet of flowers. I'm not in the mood yet for the ones that are all Christmas-y but decided I liked the ones that were white flowers, with a blue hydrangea, and silver leaves. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I had bought a Hanukkah bouquet. LOL
JL, your flowers sound pretty. You need to get in the Christmas mood. Put some music on and sing carols. I have it on in my car all the time.
Mary, Denver is pretty darn excited right now. It was like the best team we could have beat!! I put my cards in the mail today...ahh, good feeling. Now if I could just get the wrapping done.
Barb, why does your back still hurt? I thought that surgery took care of the pain. I hope your better today. I'm actually achy today too. My left shoulder hurts down to my elbow. I'm having thumb-hand pain that hurts up to my elbow sooo....I have tendinitis in my thumb and it hurts a lot
Jodi, have fun bowling ...sounds like you are.
Louis got a new car today. We lease and our leases are coming up. He got a GMC TERRAIN. we picked it up from the lease place tonight. I don't know what I'll do. I'm happy with my car, although I'd sure like a red one. We will see what kind of deal they come up with for me. I have a low car payment and want to keep it low.
We then went to the Coach outlet store. I wanted to get a wallet for my DIL to match a purse my son got her and of course I ended up treating myself to a nice winter purse. I don't get to go there much so since Louis took me, well, you get the drift!!! We then went to,eat and now home. Tomorrow I have a meeting to sign up for my supplement Medicare.
The sun was shining today while it was 29. Dried up all that snow from last night.
I bowled ok last night. 120, 88, 143! Totally screwed up my second game, but came back strong. This is why my average is still hovering around 116. Gonna be a long day. Only got 3 hours of sleep. Oh, well....that's what the coffee is for!
DIANNE - I tried napping after I ate my lunch, but woke up after a half an hour. Around 3:30 I made the mistake of laying down on the couch. I fell asleep and woke up at 6 pm. And now I can't sleep. Ugh!!! Thankfully I only have a 7 hour shift this morning and then have tomorrow off. We have inventory on Friday, so it's been a crazy week prepping for that!
Dianne Well, at least you can change your Medicare supplement choices next year if you don't like what you chose this time. By the way, how are you feeling now that the wires are out of your butt? Are you going to have more procedures?
Hi.....JL, I have my actual bladder surgery next Wednesday. That is when they will place the little "pacemaker" in my waist area. I will be out of commission for about two days me which I really don't have time for right now.
I'm still looking at cars. I tried another Equinox and a Toyota RAV 4. I am leaning towards the Toyota. We will see tomorrow.
Went to Walmart for stocking things tonight and I think I'm about done. Need two gift cards and that's it. I'd like to get finished wrapping by next Wednesday but don't know as we have a busy weekend. We are going to a Christmas party at my ex SIL's house Friday night, an HOA Christmas brunch on Saturday morning and to my friends for the Bronco game on Sunday. I go for pre op tomorrow and sometime need to fit my nails in before Friday night.."whew!!!
Jodi, hope you got some rest. I love a nap ..didn't used to but changed the last couple of years.
Another horrible shooting in your state this time Barb and JL. It's all so terrible and sad and scary.
Dianne You have a lot going on right now, don't you? I am half way through addressing my Christmas cards. I have a few stocking stuffers and that's about all I can say at this point. I do know what I'm getting the grandkids and need to actually order them. I have no idea what to get the adults.I have ordered one thing for my daughter but I need to get her more than just that.
Happy Thanksgiving HOoters! As always, I'm so thankful for all of you! Sending big love from Wisconsin 💛
ReplyDeleteGreen bean casserole update is in Area 51!
ReplyDeleteHOdi, I'm glad your MIL is making the casserole as you already have a lot on your plate today. No pun intended. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, HOoters! I hope everyone has a lovely day. I will be having a restful day here at home and will have my daughter's two dogs here with me until Sunday. It's going to be crowded on my bed. It is a king, but still.......3 dogs and me.

HOdi Ooops! Maybe I hadn't had enough coffee yet when I wrote that. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice program that your company has to help the less fortunate and very nice of you to participate. There but for the grace of God, go I.
SLIN - Yeah, it's a great program. I have something taken out of every check. They take it pre-tax, so it's a painless way to give.
ReplyDeleteGot laundry done, so now it's time to hunker down for the night. Have a good night HOoters ♥

Happy-after-Thansgiving-day!!!

Terrible shooting here today. One policeman killed and two others, possibly more at a Planned Parenthood. Horrible
ReplyDeleteDianne, That shooting is all over FB and the news. It is horrible. I think the repubs are inflaming the masses with all their talk about abortion and how they want to de-fund Planned Parenthood. The Christian right is so radical and not rational at all! It is very scary!!!
ReplyDeleteMy in-laws are arriving tomorrow, but I don't know what time. My SIL said they would call when they are near. They are staying overnight and leaving Sunday morning. Looks like you're going to beat me getting cards out, Barb. Maybe JL already has hers in the mail.
ReplyDeleteDianne Even though I got my Christmas cards early, I haven't addressed a single one! That's procrastination at its finest. LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, the shooting at Planned Parenthood is horrible. We have our very own homegrown terrorists right here in the good ole U.S. of A.
Barb I hope you have a nice visit with your in-laws and that they get the hell out in time for you to meet up with the Jennifers. LOL

BTW JL. someday I will not forget to turn off my "caps" after your "JL" LOL. I have to watch my keyboard to type cuz I am a lousy typist! lol!!!
ReplyDeleteBarb It sounds like cancelling your card making until next Sunday was better for you, too. I hope your back is feeling better now. I woke up with a bad back today. I seem to have a very "touchy" back lately. I bet it would be a lot better if I lost some of this damn weight.
ReplyDeleteMary Your girlfriend's place sounds kind of scary. LOL Every week, I try to find something around here that I can throw out or donate. I must admit that I've been slacking on that commitment lately.
ReplyDeleteDianne I totally gave up on the Niners this year and haven't watched a single game.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even opened a box of cards yet. I guess I better start working on those while I watch TV at night. I do have all the stamps I need.
LOL

The sun was shining today while it was 29. Dried up all that snow from last night.
40!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - I had a blast! I guess I should read what I post, though. Waving, not wavy ;)
ReplyDeleteI bowled ok last night. 120, 88, 143! Totally screwed up my second game, but came back strong. This is why my average is still hovering around 116. Gonna be a long day. Only got 3 hours of sleep. Oh, well....that's what the coffee is for!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day HOoters 💚
Well, I'm all signed up for my Medicare and supplement. I hope I made the right decision. It's still cold here!! How about where you all are?
ReplyDeleteJodi, did you stay awake today? Ahh, to be young again. I remember those days... Sort of
DIANNE - I tried napping after I ate my lunch, but woke up after a half an hour.
ReplyDeleteDianne Well, at least you can change your Medicare supplement choices next year if you don't like what you chose this time. By the way, how are you feeling now that the wires are out of your butt? Are you going to have more procedures?
ReplyDeleteHOdi Naps don't usually work well for me as I wake up feeling like I've been drugged. I'm glad you have tomorrow off so you can get back on track.
ReplyDeleteHi.....JL, I have my actual bladder surgery next Wednesday. That is when they will place the little "pacemaker" in my waist area. I will be out of commission for about two days me which I really don't have time for right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm still looking at cars.
ReplyDeleteYes, the shooting is terrible.
New blog....
