This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Hi, Hooters! Is everyone taking it easy today? I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Mine was good. It takes a little over an hour for me to drive to my daughter's house and the weather was clear and beautiful and there was not much traffic. My dog is not fond of car rides but she enjoyed visiting with my daughter's two dogs once we got there. My daughter's boyfriend makes a really good spicy Bloody Mary and instead of a celery stalk, he sticks a delicious piece of crisp bacon it it. Yum! So I sipped on that while we opened our gifts. We went to the Silverado Country Club and Resort for our afternoon meal and it was very good. We have gone there before and the only disappointment this year was that they did not have prime rib available. Oh, well. It was a small glitch in an otherwise flawless day.
Hi....we went to a friends surprise 50th Birthday party tonight. It was fun. It's really more my daughters friends but we go away on Labor Day with them and I've known them for years. The weather is nice so the drive was good as it was an hour away.
We had a very nice Christmas at my x SIL and wife's home. It was beautiful in the mountains. It started snowin as we opened gifts and stopped when we were done....perfect. Nine deer were in a he yard close to the Windows. We left about 5 as it looked as though snow was rolling in up there. Perfect day.
Jl, sounds like you too had a nice day. Glad you had a safe drive.
Louis gave me beautiful diamond earrings. I think I'm keeping him around. :)
I ordered a new cute camera. It's a new Polaroid and its small and prints little pictures. They had one at the party last night as a photo booth kind of thing. I ordered a pink one. It was hard to pick between pink, raspberry and grape. I'm excited to get it.
I hope you all had a nice Christmas. Mine was nice, though exhausting. Today I just vegged all day with the kitties. They were a little neglected the past two days, which is OK with Tara, but Mellie needed a lot of lovin' today. She spent most of the day on my lap or laying beside me when I took a nap and I don't mind it at all. :) It's 10pm and I am going to bed. Good night and sweet dreams to you all.
December 27. 2015
Didn't know there was a new blog up and I posted this ^^^ yesterday. I have nothing new to report for today but more of what I did or rather didn't do yesterday. Tomorrow I have a nail appointment, so I will have to go out. I hope it's not too cold. I has been cold the past two days. Waving to you all.
Hi....getting ready to go to lunch with sister in law and a friend. She doesn't get out with the girls a lot do thought she'd like a couple of hours without my brother. Lol.
Tomorrow is my surgery and I'm beginning to feel a little nervous. I have to be there at 9am!! Anthesologist (sp) called last night.
Tonight is big Bronco game. We have to win next two to get in playoffs!! The lady that buys my tickets already had to pay $617 for them so I hope they go. It's iffy.
I just realized that I really haven't posted since 12/14. I didn't mean to be gone so long.
On the 19th, we had Christmas with my Mom's side of the family. It was great seeing my cousins and my Aunt Jane, but true to his fashion, my brother and his wife were asses. I finally had to hit him in the hip and say Merry Christmas. I will never understand them. My Aunt Jane was at her son John's house over the holidays and Eric had given them a card, but Jane and I got nothing. Oh, well....Sharon and James more than make up for it. They surprised me and stopped into work on Christmas Day. They had a card and a beautiful Swarovski Crystal snowflake ornament for me. James wrote in the card "Thanks so much for the support through the years. We love you!" Made me tear up. I guess I should take the advice that I had given James over a year ago. Go to where the love is. Christmas Eve was spent with Paul's family on the farm. The lutefisk was very good. As was the Swedish meatballs and lefse. And of course, I had a Tom n' Jerry with my father-in-law. I would've stayed for a 2nd, but I had to work at 4 am on Christmas Day.
A couple of days before Christmas Milissa told me I could do books again, part time. I knew she was going to come in to do books only on Christmas Day, so I volunteered to do them so she could have the whole day off with her family. What a day that turned out to be. I ended up working 10 hours and 40 minutes. We got hit at about 7:15 am and it never let up. I typically have books done by 8 am, but literally couldn't send them until about 1:30 pm. OY!!! Oh, well....the day flew and I got paid time and a half for it!!!
The Sunday before Christmas Jessica (the other gal that used to do books)'s sister died. She was only 27. She had a son about a year and a half ago. She was diagnosed about 3 months after Wyatt was born. They thought they had it beat, but it came back with a vengeance. Her celebration of life was yesterday. So much love in the room for someone so young.
And now dealing with the emotions of GOLDIE's Mom. I love that lady like she is my own mother. I pray her journey is peaceful.
HOdi So Melissa said you could have the honor of doing their books again? Ha! I would have laughed in her face. She should have been on her knees begging you to do them. Sorry, but that's how I feel about it.
I'm sorry that your brother is still an ass. There's an old saying about how a leopard doesn't change his spots. I'm glad James and Sharon were a bright light for you.
I feel so bad for Heidi. I still miss my mother so much. I know you're very close to Inga so my heart goes out to you, too.
Barb Have you recovered from Christmas yet? It's been very cold here, too. Do you have any leftovers from the holiday? I had made beef stew on Christmas Eve so I'll be heating up the last of that tonight. Sounds like a good thing to do on a cold night like tonight.
Mary Where are you? You didn't get lost on that walk did you? You looked very cold in that pic you posted on FB. I hope you're nice and warm and cozy now. I do admire your dedication on getting out and walking no matter what. I wish I had some of that dedication to do the same.
Sorry to be MIA! Two days without power made me so behind with everything! We went to Raquel's Christmas dinner at their new/old home. It is at least 100 yrs old and an absolute charmer! Very well built and taken care of. I had nothing that nice with my first husband. We didn't even have indoor plumbing with a new baby!! I hear the jerk is in the hospital with pneumonia. He must be giving the staff a hell of a time! Meaner than a junkyard dog lol!!! It took me a while to clean house before my Christmas dinner on Sat. I cleaned and cooked and... no one showed up!! I was on the verge of tears, and it takes a lot to get me to that point! My Niece and her son thought I called it off for some reason, my sister Lena called a few hrs before dinner and said they didn't feel like traveling, and my oldest son called and said they would be late because they got unexpected company! We waited a half hour and sat down to eat, Jim. Matthew and I. 10 minutes later my son and his wife showed up. The Grand kids didn't make it. They may be here this week end. We had lots of food left over so Matthew made a "meals on wheels" run to his bachelor buddies. They were very appreciative!
We are in the middle of an ice storm. I pray we will not lose power! Just in case, I have been trying to keep up with the laundry, groceries, housework, and keeping all our electronics charged. I went for a long walk today to de-stress lol! I got up way earlier than I ever do, just to beat the storm to buy groceries, gas up and most important, get my lottery tickets lol! I will catch up with all the posts later. We are doing the VFW NYE party, so I have been preparing for that too! ok, I am pooped just re reading this lol!!!
Hello......yea Broncos...we won in OT and barely. It as a nail biting game. We are now at least in the playoffs.
Mary, how terrible about your Christmas dinner. How many were you expecting? Boy, think twice next year. Be careful walking I. That ice and don't fall. I'm so scared of doing that in the snow. We are expecting cold but dry weather for a week and even in the 40's by the weekend. I can stand the cold just not the snow. Glad you had a nice avhristmas dinner at your nieces.
Ok Barb, I'm getting concerned about you. Did you over do it and are in bed? Check in please.
JL, Bruce was pleased you wished him a happy birthday. You know he mostly tries to get a reaction. It still works with me after 66 years with him. As ornery as he is....I worry about him as he is having some health issues (between us). He can hardly walk but we don't know why. Oh yes, wouldn't it be a great idea to get a dr opinion?? Anyway.....
Jodi, sorry your brother is so mean to you and your family. He will be sorry some day. I know it's hard on you. Hmm, she wants you to do books again. Boy, that didn't take long, did it? How do you feel about it?
Well, guess I should go to sleep as I have to get up early and be at hospital at 9am. Louis is a pretty good nurse.
SLIN and DIANNE - It truly wasn't Milissa's idea that I not do books. It came down from loss prevention. And she fought to get me back on. They all realize that I wasn't the problem.
MARY - We got that snowy icy shit yesterday. Days like this I'm extra thankful I don't have to drive far for work. People had lost their ever lovin' minds yesterday. Roll overs everywhere. After work I just stayed home.
DIANNE - Congrats on the win! The Packer game on Sunday was pitiful. I hope we can make a comeback on Sunday against the Vikings! I didn't even recognize Aaron. OY!!!
Tree is down and everything back in storage! I usually wait until after NYE. Jim bowls and goes to the Casino on Tuesday. I do better when he is out of my way lol!! Dam snow plow knocked our mailbox down! I got it up and tied down with bunji cords until Jim or Matt can fix it.
My toe is a better. Zoie and I got into a tussle over a beautiful Christmas card Karina sent me. It fell and she decided to eat it! I put my foot on it to keep her from destroying it completely! Wrong move! She bit my toe. It was the first time I have ever smacked her! She has bit me before and I would scold her and toss her outside to cool off. I hated to do it, but I think I now have her complete respect lol! I still feel guilty for hitting her :(
I was glad to see Denver win! I won't put my tassels away just yet lol!
Waving a wing from Wisconsin!! Enjoyed my morning. Slept in *til 4*, coffee, kept the fire going, and washed our sheets. I was a dumbass and tried to wash one of my pillows. Took an extra 4 drain and spin cycles to get the job done. lol!! Paul and I are going up to State St in Madison to our favorite gyro place for supper. I love going to State St during the holidays. All the lights and you have a beautiful view of our capitol building!! I will probably nap after we get back. The Badgers are playing in the Holiday Bowl, but the game doesn't start until 9:30 pm.
MARY - I only got a wreath with lights put up outside, so no big cleanup for me! I hope your toe is better, and I wouldn't feel too bad. She needs to know who's boss! And yes, the Bowl I was referring to involves footballs, not poop. lol!!!
Does anyone have any big plans for New Year's Eve? Alex's new boyfriend Drew is hosting a party about 4 blocks from my house starting at 7. We will be stopping by, but not for long. I work at 4 am on New Year's Day.
My afternoon coffee is ready. Love that first sip....ahhhhh ♥
Jim and I are doing the VFW on NYE. We will be going to an early dinner with Jim's Sis and her Hubby. We have been doing that for over 30 yrs! Today something happened that is hard to explain. My X was transferred to a bigger hospital because his pneumonia got worse and there was a problem with his lungs and heart. He has been a heavy smoker all his life. He quit 6 wks ago. Him and Matthew have not seen each other or spoken for over 25 yrs! He was mad at Matthew because at our divorce, Matthew chose to live with me and called him stupid at the courthouse .I later learned he told Matthew that when he (Matt) died, that he would piss on his grave! Matthew was just a child! It hurt him so bad! My son Tony called last night telling me his Dad was in Lansing in the hospital in the heart unit. I felt I should go. I didn't know what to expect. He was asleep, so like a naughty gal, I snapped his pic lol! He finally woke up and he couldn't have been nicer! He was very humble! We talked for a while when all of a sudden Matthew walked in! It took my X a while to figure out who he was. Then tears started streaming down his cheeks! He reached out to Matt for a handshake and hug. Matthew was in shock. I could tell he was trying to compose himself! He was expecting harsh words from his dad, as he always got as a child. He was never a hands on Father. I told him Matthew has been taking good care of me. Our jaws dropped as he said "Family, is #1, always #1!" and he held a pointy finger up! This hard hearted man, like the Grinch, has learned a hard lesson, almost too late! They plan on seeing each other when he gets home. He says he has no one and would love having Matthew stop by. Matthew seemed unsure and puzzled, but agreed to stop by. He cried as we left. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I feel good for Matthew, as it has been a sad part of his life. Now that burden has been lifted! I see I wrote a novel lol! Had to share!!
Mary, Your ex has probably been wanting to see Matthew for a long time. Even though an apology was implied, he needs to actually say it to Matthew. But it is good that burden has been lifted for Matthew. It's horrible to have something like that happen and to never get closure.
J/L, are you going to party on New Years Eve? Sharon and I will be going to see Pippin on our Broadway series, tomorrow afternoon. Then I will be living it up with the kitties in my PJs. LOL I am anxiously awaiting the new Bachelor show.
I forgot all about Dianne's surgery today! Dianne check in please, unless you are drugged up. No, wait ESPECIALLY if you are drugged up lol!! I hope everything went as planned and you are on the road to recovery!
Hi....they gave me no drugs so I'm downing Tylenol on a regular basis. This thing really hurts. We go to dinner every New Years Eve but I think I'm going to cancel this year. I just don't feel up to trying to get ready. Thanks for sending me those vibes Barb...they are taking a slow route to get here.
Wow Mary, that's quite a story. I'm glad you all were able to talk and I hope it works out for Matthew. I'm glad they were able to see each other.
Mary, the surgery went as planned yesterday but I'm not liking this laying around. I sure hope it works.
Well, Paul and I did go get a gyro for dinner. When we got home, I decided to nap until game time. Bad choice. I slept thru most of the game. But the Badgers won!!! Yay us!!!
Dianne I'm glad your surgery went well. I'm hoping you are feeling better today. At least you have this surgery behind you (no pun intended) and don't have to worry about it any more. Your friends will understand if you don't feel like going out tonight. Jodi had a great idea! Olive Garden to go! I got myself a steak to cook tonight and plan to have sauteed mushrooms, baked potato, and asparagus with it. I may make myself a Black Russian later in the evening. That's the extent of my NYE celebration.
Barb I think you will have more going on in your house tonight than I will in mine. I do not look forward to the inevitable fireworks as that really scares my dog. At least she only stays next to me and trembles. Working at a veterinarian's office, I've known of dogs that have jumped through plate glass windows, tried climbing up a chimney, or escaping from their house or yard and getting lost.
HOdi You must have needed that nap. Apparently, the Badgers didn't need you for extra support so congrats to them.
I'm really glad you don't have to travel far to work on those crappy weather days. The other day it was 37 here and I could not get warm. I swear I felt cold all day long no matter what I did. I ended up wearing a sweater and a jacket plus gloves IN THE HOUSE! That finally got me warmed up. It was ridiculous. It was as if the cold had gotten to my bones.
Mary I'm going to try and not rain on your parade too much but I am a skeptic. Right now the man is vulnerable and scared for himself and probably looking for someone to take care of him. Family is number 1 indeed. Sorry, I'm not buying it. I'm glad Matthew feels better but I would worry about a big let down when his dad is back to his usual self. Time will tell.....
I went through the crocodile tears phase with my first husband when I tried to leave him. He would cry and cry. He had his whole family calling me to give him another chance, including his ex wife. I didn't know at the time that he had beaten the crap out of her in order to force her to call me. Anyway, I finally gave in and as soon as we got back to the house he showed me the gun, handcuffs, duct tape, rope, that he had in the trunk of the car in case I didn't come willingly. I got a horrible beating that night and things went even worse from there on. So......tears mean nothing. You and Matthew need to be very careful about having him in your life again. Okay, I will shut up about it now.
Well, we won't be going to the NYE party at Drew's. I feel like I have to barf. And I have to work at 4 am, and there isn't anyone I can call to work for me. Waving a Happy New Year wing from the sick branch.
Oh JL, your past makes feel so bad for you. Didn't his family know he was an ass? I'm so glad you found a great guy after all that and that we fond you too.
Jodi, you are not supposed to get sick BEFORE New Years Eve. Hope you get sleep and feel much better for work.
My friend brought dinner over to us today ..so sweet. My problem is I can't get comfortable sitting, laying, standing. This is not fun. I'm going to try and go with Louis tomorrow to my brothers and bring them lunch. I need out. We are watching New York and hoping I didn't miss Carrie Underwood.
Barb, are you relaxing with your kittens tonight? Happy New Year to you all In 1-1/2 hours my time.
Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDianne I'm glad that last package arrived for you. Phew! That was close one!
ReplyDeleteHi. Merry Christmas everyone

Mary,Jodi, and Barb ...tell us about your day.
Hello again....went to see the movie JOY today....a very good movie. My friend Barb and I then went for Mexican food and to exchange gifts.
ReplyDeleteBarb, are you pooped!! Are you resting up for cooking your next big meal? Hope you aren't doing New Years too.
JL, I think bacon in a Bloody Mary sounds yummy!!
Jodi, sad for your Packers today. Happy the Patriots lost tho.
Mary ...h e l l o
It's so lonely in here. Where is everyone?

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any big plans for New Year's Eve? Alex's new boyfriend Drew is hosting a party about 4 blocks from my house starting at 7. We will be stopping by, but not for long. I work at 4 am on New Year's Day.
ReplyDeleteMy afternoon coffee is ready. Love that first sip....ahhhhh ♥
My butt hurts
ReplyDeleteJim and I are doing the VFW on NYE. We will be going to an early dinner with Jim's Sis and her Hubby. We have been doing that for over 30 yrs!
ReplyDeleteToday something happened that is hard to explain.
ReplyDeleteDianne, I have been thinking about you today and sending good vibes. I hope you aren't in too much pain.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, are you going to party on New Years Eve? Sharon and I will be going to see Pippin on our Broadway series, tomorrow afternoon. Then I will be living it up with the kitties in my PJs. LOL I am anxiously awaiting the new Bachelor show.
ReplyDeleteJodi, Working on New Year's is a bummer. You won't get to watch the parade.
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about Dianne's surgery today!
ReplyDeleteDianne check in please, unless you are drugged up.
ReplyDeleteWow Mary, that's quite a story. I'm glad you all were able to talk and I hope it works out for Matthew. I'm glad they were able to see each other.
Mary, the surgery went as planned yesterday but I'm not liking this laying around. I sure hope it works.
MARY - Pass a tissue. How wonderful for Matthew! I hope it brings him some closure.
ReplyDeleteBARB - Sounds like fun "living it up with the kitties in my PJs"!!! Enjoy the show!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Sorry your butt hurts. Maybe Louis can get Olive Garden to go!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, Paul and I did go get a gyro for dinner. When we got home, I decided to nap until game time. Bad choice. I slept thru most of the game. But the Badgers won!!! Yay us!!!
ReplyDeleteDianne I'm glad your surgery went well.
ReplyDeleteBarb I think you will have more going on in your house tonight than I will in mine. I do not look forward to the inevitable fireworks as that really scares my dog. At least she only stays next to me and trembles. Working at a veterinarian's office, I've known of dogs that have jumped through plate glass windows, tried climbing up a chimney, or escaping from their house or yard and getting lost.
ReplyDeleteHOdi You must have needed that nap. Apparently, the Badgers didn't need you for extra support so congrats to them.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you don't have to travel far to work on those crappy weather days.
ReplyDeleteI went through the crocodile tears phase with my first husband when I tried to leave him.
ReplyDeleteHOdi I hope you're sleeping now and that you feel 100% better when you wake up.
ReplyDeleteOh JL, your past makes feel so bad for you. Didn't his family know he was an ass? I'm so glad you found a great guy after all that and that we fond you too.
ReplyDeleteJodi, you are not supposed to get sick BEFORE New Years Eve.
Mary, forgot to say hello to you. Hope your Dj is fun tonight. Xxoo
ReplyDeleteDianne I'm sorry you are in so much discomfort. Do you have a "donut" you can sit on?
ReplyDeleteMaybe tomorrow will be considerably better. (((HUGS)))
New blog!
